Went to Bar Louie last night for trivia night with the girls. Had an amazing time. We had some drinks, apps and other food. Was a little disappointed on the first drink. It was very watered down, but the berry margarita was amazing! Our server was great. Checked up on us a couple of times and enjoyed our food while playing trivia. Parking was hard to find. Ended up parking in the way back, almost to the other corner of the hotel. Was a little worried since I wasn't going to the hotel but the bar but it worked out.

Lemon Drop Martini so freshly made. Hats off to the bartender

Nice happy hour spot for quick meal at end of the week. Wings always good and we really like the Salmon sliders. They have a variety of food items for appetizers which is good for majority. Drinks we're not good this day, however, it depends on the bar tender as I've been few times and has not been consistent. But overall, it's nice bar/grill for friends to get together for meal that won't break the bank. Also, music in background is nice touch but it can be too loud for some.

It was just OK, still new and has time to adjust. When you enter the staff is super friendly and very loudly welcomes you. We chose a seat at a booth and they had just opened, so it wasn't overly crowded. The server was attentive maybe a little to attentive as she kept coming over although our drinks and food were full but I'll take that over no attention at all. It was happy hour and it wasn't obvious as to what was included and the server wasn't 100% sure. My suggestion is to put in the menu the items included in HH so there is no confusion. We started with Spinach and artichoke dip which was just OK and needed salt. We also had the Calamari, which I couldn't eat as it was soggy and needed to be fried longer. And finally the Pickles, which were seasoned well and fried well and definitely will be ordered again. For my cocktail I went with the Lemon drop as I was intrigued that they added grand marnier. Definitely had a tasty taste but was a little sweet so for round 2 I opted for no sugar. The first attempt had to be sent back as lipstick was on the glass, I mean the full outline of someone's red lips ( I mean you've only been open for 2 days, so no pass on dirty glasses) but the 2nd attempt was yummy and not too sweet. The 3rd round whelp my server forgot to ask for no sugar so I patiently waited and it was still a great choice. For entrees we got the fish and chips and the quesadillas. I appreciated the fact that the batter for the fish was seasoned but wasn't a fan of the quesadilla's. Overall it was an ok experience, nothing to write home to mom about. Will i return, maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way. A few tips: 1. Add notes on what's on HH to the menu 2. Have your staff remove cell phones from the registers, especially when they constantly blast loud music as the ringer

Great atmosphere, although it was pretty slow for a Sunday afternoon. I did enjoy the drink and bar food.

Disappointing Kickin Bloody Mary! Where's the rest of it??

We decided to stop by the bar around 2:15 pm on June 1st for a Kickin Bloody Mary. The young lady behind the bar served Bloody Mary drinks with no garnishing. After ordering a second one each she served them the same. I asked about the garnish and she told me that they didn't have any seasoning for the cucumbers. She was going to charge us for the Kickin Bloody Mary. (I guess trying to pull a slick one on us). We're not stupid! I told her we were not going to pay full price for what we didn't receive. A gentleman had just came on shift and helped her with the correct price. The attached picture shows what we were served. I'm giving 3 stars because we've been here for lunch several times and the food was great. This past experience turned us off.

Gross swiss mushroom burger......artichoke chips were stale.......sad.....ughhhhh. there goes 60 bucks

Place sucked. Let's leave it at that. Dive bar, doing the dive thing literally with the food. I barfed it all out when I got home.

NOTES: - Reservations: available through OpenTable - Parking: free lot next to the building - Online ordering: available on their website through ChowNow for pickup - Happy hour: every day from 4:00 to 6:00 pm - Daily specials updated on their website THE HIGHS: - Hostess and server (Omar) were extremely welcoming and friendly - Container of water on the table so you can refill as needed - Food came out quickly after ordering - Fantastic portion sizes for the price THE LOWS: - Reservation didn't specify inside or outside and it was hot in the patio area THE PRICE: Very reasonable for the portion size and quality of food - All butter biscuits ($7.50) - Whipped cow's milk ricotta ($15.00) - Housemade pastrami sandwich ($22.00 each) - Cheese grits (menu said $8 but were charged $7) The total was $79.56 after tax ($6.06) but before tip. BEST BITES: - Pastrami sandwich (one of the BEST pastrami sandwiches I've ever had... packed with meat, bread is toasted well, and the fries are super crispy) - Biscuits (crispy outside, soft inside, and lots of layers... the molasses chili butter is sweet and melts into the biscuits) THE VERDICT: I had visited Salty Sow 4 years ago but hadn't been back just because there are SO many great places to eat in Austin. After coming back, I think Salty Sow is incredibly underrated and slept on... I already can't wait to visit again and will definitely recommend it to others!

They change their menu often so there is always something new to look forward to. Charred Edamame With Pop Rocks ($9): So fun to eat and quite addictive. The chili oil was spicy to me but not my husband so just be aware of your heat tolerance. The salt pop rocks combo is genius and so good that we wanted to take it home to season our steak. The edamame were also perfectly charred. Highly recommend! Lamb Pops ($28): Came with 3 lamb pops that were perfectly cooked and so delicious. Even better with the yuzu yogurt. 44 Farms Tartare ($24) + Quail Egg ($6): This looked like a bird's nest and had so many textures going on. A great sensory experience and it tasted really good too. I would say a little less of the crispy bits would help since I felt they were close to overpowering the rest of the dish.

Before the change, I would have rated this spot closer to a 4.5/5, so the new format feels like a noticeable step down. It can still be a fun place to visit with a group so everyone can try a variety of items, although some of the portions are so small that they can feel awkward to share. Considering the price of each plate, I'd say it's mainly worth visiting if Swift's Attic has been on your list and you're curious to try it for yourself. Otherwise, Austin has plenty of other dinner spots that offer a more satisfying experience and better value.
