I gotta say they do not disappoint. I mean its pizza done better than most places (except Zachary's). I like the thickness of the crust, the amount of cheese they use and the toppings are fresh and spread out nicely. I can't comment on the service because we ordered out and my boyfriend picked the pizza up. I definitely enjoyed the pizza and would go back there before any other chain, i.e. Papa Johns or Round Table. read more

It seems like a lot of reviews involve bad delivery, so maybe that's true. I only ever order in, or place a phone order for pick-up, and have never had a problem with service. North Beach is definitely the family pizzeria - the place where you go after little league games or celebrate birthdays. It's nothing fancy. The pizza is OK. It's not amazing, but it's standard and hits the pizza-craving spot. My stand-by here is the Hawaiian pizza with pineapples and Canadian bacon. It's probably the best Hawaiian pizza among all the surrounding chains (Little Caesar's, Roundtable, Papa John's, etc.). Whenever I get lazy and am looking for pizza, I head to North Beach. Not everything in Berkeley has to be artisan - no fried eggs, shaved truffle or arugula on top of your pizza here - and I'm OK with that. read more

First of all, the pizza was delicious! Unfortunately, we had to wait at least 30 min for the pizza. Our calamari and fries came quick. Server was great and attentive to all tables. Looks like she was the only server there, but she worked it with a smile and not a sarcastic one either. This place used to be an IHOP, you can tell by the structure. It is dirty in there and needs some repairs and definitely a wipe down everywhere along with dusting off the window ledges. Overall, the food was good. Pizza was delicious. read more

So much tastier when someone is buying. After forgetting to eat all day, we grabbed one to go and polished that bad boy off. It smelled and tasted good. Not really sure what else you expect from a pizza place but after eating a lot of really horribly pizza elsewhere, I had nothing bad to say about this place. It traveled well on the way home and the belly was pleased. read more

Decent pizza and delivered on time. Thanks! Needs a better online ordering system though.

Um... I actually liked the pizza, but maybe it was because it was free and I didn't pay for it, who knows. Favorite: pesto sauce, chicken, feta cheese, and spinch. read more

Average In Every Possible Way. On the scale of North Beach locations, this one's about average. It's nothing like the original in the city, but it beats the pants off the location at Fisherman's wharf. Of course, cardboard freezer pizza would beat the Fisherman's Wharf location, so maybe that's not saying much. The one and only interesting thing about this restaurant is its building. The Greg Brady chic A-frame structure hints to the location's former life as an IHOP. This is fitting, I guess, as both IHOP and North Beach serve exceedingly average food. The pizza is, as my rating implies, fine. Pies are cheesy, well-proportioned, and sprinkled with the right amount of toppings. The sauce is good, but nothing to write home about. They're neither cheap nor expensive ($15 or so) -- the pizzas here are in every possible way average. This location reminds me of the saying about the man with one eye being king of the blind. If this restaurant were the local pizza joint in Kansas City, nobody would complain. (It's way better than Pizza Hut.) But it has the misfortune of being in Berkeley and competing against a half-dozen world-class pizza joints. And it suffers by that comparison. Helpful hint: if you're set on North Beach, dine in or carry out, but don't have your pizza delivered. I live two blocks from this location, and the pizza delivery man can't find my house without calling and arriving 30 minutes late. read more

I was really happy to discover that this place serves wine at a reasonable price and the best pesto sauce on cheese ravioli at from closing from opening time to closing time Berkeley can be such a weird place to dine and drink inFor a New Yorker that I was prized to be having fun hitting that last glass of Pinot Grigio at night with a chill rock 'n' roll waitress and extremely efficient maître d' thumbs up Travellers read more

Myself and about 7 of my family members had dinner here last Saturday and it was great. We had garlic bread, calamari and bar-b-que wings for appetizers and then we had a pepperoni and margarita pizza and everything was yummy. I was a little skeptical when a read a review on here that stated that there were food flies in here, but on my visit it was a beautiful day and nothing of the sort occurred. I would highly recommend going here and I will be going back so I can try some other items on the menu. read more

I love this place, I first came here on the recommendation of a coworker , and have been a regular ever since. They have a private parking lot with plenty of parking, it's great to not have to pay to park on the street. The staff is warm and welcoming at the door and there is always plenty of seating (Wait Time: 5-10 min during peak hours). The pizza here is always delicious and filling, and made with top notch ingredients. The pizzas are kinda expensive here but that's a minor issue that is easily overlooked by the fact that they have 5 star quality food. Also, the beer selection here is pretty decent (Pyramid, Lagunitas, Stella Artois...), Just come here for happy hour (M-F 3pm-7pm) and see for yourself. read more

North Beach Pizza is our family's go to spot for birthday dinners and other special occasions. Besides the fact that it's our favorite pizza, they always bring the birthday person a free slice of cake for dessert (Tiramisu anyone?)! But seriously, their pizza is the best! Perfect crust and so cheesy, and very generous toppings. We also love the Caesar and Greek salads (the large salads are big enough for all four of us to split). Personally, I love the atmosphere of this place and the booth seating. The interior feels like restaurants I went to as a kid in Philly. Even the music they play is from that era so it's a total nostalgic experience for me. All of the staff here has consistently been friendly, patient, and accommodating to us and our two kids. We've never had to wait for a table or felt rushed to clear out for the next customers. And they have a big lot with plenty of free off-street parking. Above all, we prefer to support local businesses so North Beach Pizza is a win-win all the way around. read more

North Beach Pizza - North Beach Special. Delicious!!! - Pizza Near Me - Berkeley, California

Several times I have ordered the BBQ wings and they have been excellent. A couple of weeks ago I ordered them and they were so overcooked they were rock hard and almost black. I had to throw them all away. And they were not cheap. So I figured it was a one-off bad night and tried the dish again. Same thing. Tasted like they were sitting under a heat lamp all day after having been re-fried a few times. GROSS!! Also last night the cake tasted very stale. The pizza we order is always great. But the few times I tried the pasta I found it mediocre at best. Stick with the pizza and you'll be okay. read more

Just had some wings and pizza delivered and i was expecting way better for how expensive this pie was. The pizza tastes like you made a pizza at home in your own oven out of your own ingredients. I didn't find it bad but it just really wasn't that great... it wasn't really crispy and the cheese was kinda undercooked. Definitely not the best. The wings are what really made me sad, Its 7.99 for about a dozen wings but they weren't crispy at all. The skin was all mushy. If this was the only problem with the wings i'd be a lot happier but they barely put any hot sauce on the wings... like so little they are hard to call 'hot wings' there more like... bland wings. On the bright side the Building its in looks cool and the Delivery guy was nice. read more

I had been coming here for years. The food was always good. I moved out of the area about 8 years ago and over that time had only been here a few times. I was driving through and decided to come to north beach for a late lunch. I am so glad I did. The Caesar salad is still as yummy as ever. We had the BBQ wings (delish) and the golden gate (yum) and the chicken parm sub, so huge and filling! I will definitely be back! read more

Underwhelming. It was okay I guess, and maybe I have high expectations for Chicago style deep dish as I try to try some of the best rated deep dish pizzerias in Chicago when I visit, but still, to me this just wasn't the 'real deal'. It's an okay pizza spot but I wouldn't take friends there to try the deep dish. read more

Just a pizza. If you expect something amazing, stop dreaming. If you expect the worst, then you should be glad. This is what you call an average place with an average service and I don't think you can get any more average than here. FOOD: We had pizza, and we had to wait a long time. The pizza itself was nothing special. It tasted somewhat average and lacked flavoring. SERVICE: The servers were nice and friendly. PLACE: Just fine. There were a lot of tables, and not much space to walk around, so it made me feel squished. I'm not claustrophobic, but it wasn't too comfortable to eat there. read more

Best calzone I have ever had! Banana peppers, sausage, pepperoni and extra cheese epic! Oh try the yummy pizza awesome deep dish!

I've been going to this pizza place ever since it opened more than 15 years ago. I remember when it was a International House of Pancakes (IHOP). The pizza made here is with natural cheese and not processed cheese like most pizza chain companies. All their pizzas, especially the veggie pizza, are so delicious and their salads are great as well. The waitresses are all kind and always make sure that you are satisfied with your order. Highly recommend this place and keep up the good work. read more

Best pizza hands down! Visiting Berkeley for an event and we were in the mood for pizza. Little did we know just how many pizza establishments there were just in a 3 block radius, close to 10! After looking at menus, fellow Yelp reviews and of course pictures we decided to go to North Beach Pizza. Although the average rating was below average this place was nothing close to average!! Small A frame, cute authentic decor, friendly staff. As you walk in it just smells delicious, we were seated quickly and served beverages just as efficiently. We ordered the Cable car (added pesto instead of red) and the Golden Gate. I could not decide which one was the favorite, neither could my hubby. We will definitely be coming back! read more

The food is great. Only complaint is the meatball sandwich is a bit sparse on the meatballs. Salads are huge

North Beach Pizzeria is my favorite pizza place in the Bay! First, because of the excellent Service, second, for the delicious food!

North beach pizza in Berkeley is the best pizza place ever. They have also spaghetti I recommend the one with the meat sauce and not to forget their amazing garlic bread with cheese. This place is perfect for the family or when going on a date. The environments warming and the staff are very polite and kind. I have been going to north beach pizza for 12 years. If you are looking to try a new restaurant give north beach pizza a try you won't regret it . read more

I am so happy NBP has a location in Berkeley. I have coit tower special cravings from time to time and knowing that they're down the road is dangerous. In California it's all about the dough when it comes to pizza, and NBP does it best! It's tasty and just the right consistency. Try the pesto with chicken special...it's amazing. Cable car special...shut up! Their gluten free crust is only available in small so keep that in mind when ordering GF. They are consistent, delivery is always on time, and the pizza's always hot when delivered. read more

This is a hard review for me to write. I'm on the fence of giving it a 2 or a 3. I've ordered from here quite a few times and I've eaten in a number of times as well. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes it's really good, and sometimes I wish I had ordered Domino's instead. The pizza can be good if you eat in--if you order for delivery you're running the risk that your pizza arrives cold--destroyed (like one review below)--or just plain bad. Some of the subs are pretty good--generic, nothing earth-shattering here. And the soups leave much to be desired. All in all--it's a decent joint if you're in a bind for food. But if you can pay a little more I'd definitely suggest finding alternative pizza joints. read more

This is your average pizza joint, checkered tablecloths and booth seating. The menu features a variety of Pizza, Pasta, Hot Sandwiches and salads. Our pizza tasted fine but was by no means extraordinary. All in all we had a pleasant meal but will probably try somewhere different in the future. read more

Not bad. Gets the job done. This place is a block from my house, so it's ideal for takeout when we want a pizza as soon as possible. Better than Dominos et al. Can't complain except that Berkeley has several other amazing pizza places. Kind of unfair to compare. read more

No. Please don't eat here. The pasta was unbearably overcooked! To top that off, the waitress was busy talking to her friends the entire time and we couldn't get any condiments to fix it either. read more

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS EMBARRASSING establishment, not only was the pizza complete garbage, but after calling and talking to the manager, he only made the situation more problematic- he not only hung up on us, but also didn't offer anything/refused a refund on our order and ASKED US to not order from them again. Not a problem because we never will, and will make sure to spread the word about this experience. read more

The only reason I first decided to try this place was because I was hungry and looking for fatty food. When I first sat down I thought this place was a joke because the inside looked like something from some restaurant in the middle of nowhere down in Bakersfield. However I was extremely impressed upon getting my pizza (the Verdi) which is always amazing. The restaurent definitey serves 'Pizza' pizza. It has just enough cheese, the right thickness of crust, but also great fresh ingrediants to top it off. Definitely some of the best pizza in Berkeley. read more

Bleh. They basically threw a bunch of raw vegetables on some warm bread, sprinkled some hot pepper flakes over it, and took forever to bring it to me. My dog gives them five stars, though. read more

I just received the worst quality pizza from the rudest delivery driver ever. Not only did the driver not acknowledge my husband after my husband attempted to great him twice, he also shoved the pizza at my husband requested he sign the receipt and left without saying anything else. As soon as I opened the pizza box I saw the toppings were completely off the side of the pizza. The box included crust with a side of toppings. It was awful. Furthermore, I requested no onions and the pizza came slathered with them. I'll definitely never place an order with North Beach Pizza again. read more

My work orders large regular crust pizzas from this joint every so often, because they offer free delivery. So honestly, I have no idea how much it really costs but I've had every single pizza on their menu. I don't care for the Verdi Special Pizza (way too much cheese and not enough spinach) or the cable car (garlic sauce overpowers everything else). The meat pizzas tend to be on the oilier side but their vegetarian pizza is covered with generous amounts of vegges, but could use a tad more cheese. I do like the Chef's and Greek salad. Overall, I don't crave it, and probably won't order it for myself. But when it's at work, I'll have a few slices, and does its job. read more

My archery coach really likes this place, so after an archery tournament we came here. We were a group of about 20. It took over an hour to get half of our orders. I understand that its hard to serve a large party (especially one that ordered a cheese free pizza, a sauce free pizza, and a gluten free pizza) but we did not even get all of our food. It took thirty more minutes for almost all of our group to get their food. About ten minutes after, everyone but one person had gotten their food. Fifteen minutes after that, the server brought the last person their food, but they put the wrong sauce on it. It took another ten minutes for them to bring back the fixed order. They were good at making accommodations for us. They made us a gluten free pizza, a cheese free pizza, and a sauce free pizza. But, those were not the things that came last. The pasta and sandwiches took longer for them to make. The food here was probably worse then mediocre. Everything was covered with grease. There was no ham in the gluten free hawaiian pizza. I hopefully will not have to eat here after the next tournament. read more

Not worth it! I could make better pasta at home. Very simple penne & mushrooms and spaghetti came out to $28 take-out. Portions were small - if you're going to charge this much for pasta, at least give more quantity. Even worse, the penne & mushrooms came with way too much sauce that was overly sour. Never coming here again. read more

Our Archery team went here. The only gluten free option was a salad. The kids loved the pizza so I am OK with that. I got the impression that everyone on staff was on their first day working, the food seemed fine but our large party was more than they could handle (we even called ahead to warn them). read more
