Thought we'd try this location since it's fairly new umm nope worst experience at Norms. Our waitress was slow and untrained. Asked for a hot chocolate refill which never came. Utensils were dirty and by the time we got our food it was cold. Waitress was clearly untrained almost breaking the plate when placing it on the table, told us she put too much hot chocolate in the cup so it was overflowing all over the table. The workers just stand around talking instead of making sure the guests are taken care of even the manager leaning against the toy machines talking with security like they are on break. Workers serving is in sweatshirts. Come on Norms hire workers that love and need their jobs not ones that take it for granted. Never again at this location. I be can already see it being a problematic restaurant for Carson. I will definitely pass the word around for people to avoid this location. And yes I got the same dumb reply from management that they will share this review with their team. Apparently that's not working being that I'm not the first person complaining about this location. Maybe it's management that's the problem smdh. read more

Slowest place ever! Took over 50 minutes for an omelette. Was estimated at 20 min...

Really crap service tonight. I'm waiting ten minutes to be greeted at my table, once seated. First thing I say 'I need coffee' followed by my food order because I'd had plenty of time to decide. 'Oh and utinsels', there's none on the table. Another ten minutes, still no coffee. I go to the counter and ask 'Can I please have a mug of coffee?' and another server promises to bring me one. Which she does. Original server appears at my table with entree, and no utinsels. She says "oh I'll bring you utinsels" but doesn't. I had a spoon in the coffee mug so i start eating with that. Now she drops off a soup and salad. (Doesn't that usually come before the entree??) I ask for a knife and fork. She's all 'oh right!'. She brings utinsels now and DROPS OFF THE CHECK. I finished mug of coffee and place it at the edge of the table, handle out, like PLEASE FILL ME!!! She didn't drop by my table again. I got a to-go container from the bus boy. As I get ready to leave, I see server standing around talking to coworkers. As I pay my check I tell host or cashier about the difficulty of getting fecking coffee, that its stretch to pay $2.79 for it, but I'd be happy to take a beverage to go, which she did. Food was okay. Horrible Customer Service. Our suppose to be waiter was steadily holding a conversation with the people behind us and never making it to our table. Not only was he holding a long conversation but he only kept servicing them, going back and forth for them. He ended up getting upset as we left our table to leave the restaurant. read more

I have come to this Norm's on several occasions and the one thing that is consistent is their lack luster customer service. They have young people working the front but they lack proper training on how to greet people. Once I finally directed the young man on how to seat me, my waiter came and again there was more less than stellar service, almost as if they did not want to be there. I ordered my food quickly because this time it was just myself and they brought it fast, but my French toast was burnt. I honestly couldn't believe that they even served that to me. Proper etiquette would dictate to through that out and prepare something fresh, but no. I know my waiter saw the unpleasant look on my face and tried to avoid me. Once I got his attention I told him that if they were inedible I would send them back, but after his reaction I didn't even bother. My breakfast experience was ruined. I didn't finish more than half my food, paid, left a tip even though he did not deserve it and left. Do not come this Norms if you are looking for an awesome service experience!!!! If you are a local then it is convenient but I'd rather go across the street to Denny's. Very disappointed. read more

If I can give this place 0 stars, I would. Got here roughly around 10 and didn't receive my order until 10:45. Keep in mind all we ordered was a salad, slice of cheesecake, and Dutch apple pie. Our server, Shaentijer, was extremely unattentive. Didn't even acknowledge us until 25 minutes in and had another server and busser come greet us. Restaurant is very unorganized and management is clueless. Never coming back here again. read more

I tend to visit this location several times a week, and I must say that the service is always amazing. I think people forget that while the food is always great, eating out is just as much about the experience as it is about the quality. Misty DEFIANTLY provides an experience like no other. Jokes and side bar conversations coupled with speedy service, attention to detail and a wonderful smile makes this Norms my destination location for all late night cravings. Antione, who I have watch grow worm Server to Manager(?) has always been just as great. They both makes a visit seem more like a welcome home than a visit at all. If your a person who expects your server to be more than just a person taking your order I highly recommend meeting the servers at this location. I would give them more stars but apparently society says 5 stars is enough. I've never seen a dirty table, and I seen it packed. Restrooms have always been clean and stocked on my visits. read more

I went to this norms with a group of friends and they had no one in the restaurant but made us wait 10 minutes for a table and then they took forever to take our order, didnt even ask what drink we wanted before simply bringing us water. when i got my food my hash browns were soggy with oil and the eggs tasted like something they pulled out the toilet. They served everyone their food besides my friend who simply got a burger and watched us eat our food for 15 minuets. This is terrible customer service!!!! do better read more

I want to commend the staff and management team at Norms in Carson, CA. Please disregard the negative comments and remember that you can't please everybody. Although my family is grateful for the grand openning, we also understand that the community you serve also consists of people who think they are royalty and require a red carpet. Norms is a great restaurant and you will have success. Just know that the roaches are beginning to leave Dennys across the street and want to feel important. My family & I just left this Norm's & we were HIGHLY dissatisfied. They said the wait would be 25 minutes & we waited way longer than that to be seated. Then when they finally called our names, we came to the front desk only to find out they gave our table away when they just called our names not even a minute before! So we then had to wait for them to clean another table for us. After we sat down, we told the waiter that we needed a minute to look at the menu. He didn't come back for about 20 mins! When he finally came to take our order, we waited almost AN HOUR for our food! Yes, an hour! Then to make matters even worse, after most of us got our food, some of my other family members didn't get their food until we were almost done with ours! And some of our orders were just WRONG. After all of this, we were literally there for 3 hours!!! I've been to other locations that are just as busy but still provide excellent service. Food was good. Way understaffed. The restaurant had more empty tables than full but the wait to be seated was very long.

I am having a hard time writing this review. This was my first visit to this location. My server Maya was fantastic, can't complain at all about the service. The food was good as well. There are two issues I do have. First they charge a surcharge on top of the prices posted on the menu. Secondly, I noticed at the end of my meal that the cooks were using latex gloves. This is in violation of Senate bill 677 which amended the health and safety code sections 113961 and 113973 to ban the use of latex gloves in restaurants. I do have a severe allergy to latex so wondering if I am going to have a reaction or not. Sad to say that I will not be returning read more

My family and I went there for brunch on Easter Sunday. I understand that it is busy but come on, they should of known that. It took over 40 minutes to get our food. I said medium rare for my steak and it was over done and they over cooked the pork chops. Both meats were hard. The food was placed in orange containers and it was sloppy. I presented my AAA Norms discount on my phone but was denied because they want a printed copy from now on, which doesn't state that on Norms discount. I came into Norms excited to eat with my friends & family celebrating the New year. We didn't mind the 30 minute wait because of the holidays. What we did have an issue with was the wait after we were seated. We waited about 1 hour & the tables that were seated after us received their food before us. Terrible Service! Went in with my family on a not very crowded night, and had to ask the waitress for menus and table settings after 10 minutes. Then after finally receiving our drinks, our server disappeared. When she finally returned after 20 minutes to take our order, she left and did not come back. No refills, no check up, nothing. After another 30 minutes of dry mouths, we gave up and asked for our check. $19 for 5 drinks! Terrible. No compensation and they even tried to charge us for the food they never brought. We live about 5 mins away from here off of Avalon and figured we try it because we have eaten at other norms in Lakewood and Torrance, so we were hoping the service and food would be just as good. I wouldn't even give this place one star , but had to, to write this review. Service and quality of food was so bad. Workers seemed very untrained from greeting people to making sure their food is good and drinks also. Friendly customer service is lacking and if people notice it and it's still not getting better, that's a management problem. Drinks came in dirty cups, silverware was not clean and even table was a bit dirty as well. Food took awhile and the appetizers came out cold first. But we had the steak and eggs and pancakes and it ALL came out cold...SMDH. We almost were gonna complain and tell them take it back, but we figured hey this will be our first and last time here. We were hoping for the same service like the other norms, but this norms hands down is sooo bad, I will be definitely telling my family and others do not waste your time trying this place or eating here. It's sad cause it's a local business and good spot and more restaurants for our community. But until these issues get fixed, I don't see this norms lasting long and business will decline. So good luck, we will stick with IHOP on Avalon. They always have people waiting at times to get in and be seated , but it's worth the wait compared to having to eat here and like i said it's starts with the quality of service. Make people want to come back and make sure they like their food and it's on point. I read a lot of bad reviews after we ate here and totally regret not reading them before we went to try this norms. Came to Norms tonight and waited about 15 minutes for a table. They sat us down and waited about another 15 minutes. No one ever acknowledged us or even asked what we wanted to drink. We finally asked the host who our server was and she didn't know. All the other servers gathered around and didn't know who was supposed to serve us. RIDICULOUS! we got up and left because this place was a shit show and had a bunch of idiots working, not knowing what to do. read more
