Bad service..we can in during the time that was supposed to be the non rush and our server took about fifteen minutes to bring our drinks and then we didn't see her again until she dropped off the bill on her way to another table. I had a bad experience in this place.. only two waiters on a busy Sunday. 3 ppl calling out names to sit ppl down, most of the time the three girls were just standing around talking. when my group finally got called to be seated they had us stand next to a dirty table and told us to wait because that's was going to be our table. Once the table was cleaned we sat down and it took them a while to give us our menus. This place needs more waiters, the poor waiter was running around table to table. This is a community restaurant that I wanted to support but the reciprocation of service to this community was not okay this morning. This Norms is not welcoming, just walking in no one greeted me. Then they gave me a hard time to order, just wanted a side salad instead of pancakes because I never eat them and they wouldn't allow it. I said well can you give my pancakes to someone else and she said they just won't put the pancakes in but will still have to charge me, makes no sense! The lady was patient because I was looking at the menu trying to figure out what to get but her and the manager were not making it easy for me to order and it was embarrassing me because they made me feel like I was in the wrong. They were having side conversations while I was trying to order. All of that just for them to get the order wrong. I ended up just asking for a refund. I know the names of the cashier and manager but wouldn't want to put it out because they know who they are and I hope they do better to make a welcoming and customer first environment. They were so kind to the firefighters and elderly that walked in and treated me like crap. Equality with customer service for the community you are serving is important. Meanwhile I will be at the Norms in Lakewood and Inglewood because they treat me way better. It's definitely worth the drive. read more

I was here since I live close by... but this Norms was the worst. The waiting staff was quite friendly as it supposed to be. But selling spoiled food is not a good idea, even less to serve that food. I wouldn't recommend this location to my worst enemy. This unacceptable and I am not suing because, it seems like the place is doing bad all on its own. I hope they corporation knows about this issue, since I will be writing a letter. If you want food poisoning be my guest. But for the sake of your health and loves one, do not dine here. Won't be back to this location. Trainee spilled the drink tray on me... luckily the two coffees didn't get me or I'd be suing- they landed on the table and I got the whole water spilled on me. Staff apologized and credited me for the whole meal. If trainees don't have the ability to hold a tray- they should have special training for that. It's a hazard. read more

Today I wasnt feeling the best and I usually stress eat and Im really not a fan of Norms because my go to spot is Spires.For some reason I was driving down Avalon "hungrier than usual"and Norms was just calling my name.As I walked in I was greeted with a smile ear to ear and the time being past 12 midnight I was suprised that the host was so jubilant.After being greeted, I was seated immediately which was refreshing.It was also comforting to have continuous service while still not being to pushy.The waitress took my order in a prompt manner and did it with an excellent attitude. I was suprised to see the new drink selection and retro style motif that has all other local Norms blown out the water.The appetizers came out expeditiously and my drink was already being refilled without any request.I am picky due to my food allergies but my the waitress/host by the name of Tiara said,"No problem,Im going to see what I can do!"The order was taken with consideration and I had no complaints. I ordered online today and when I got there they were barely processing my order, they said it's better to call ahead I instead of using the online service. I had to wait another 25 mins for my food. Thought we'd try this location since it's fairly new umm nope worst experience at Norms. Our waitress was slow and untrained. Asked for a hot chocolate refill which never came. Utensils were dirty and by the time we got our food it was cold. Waitress was clearly untrained almost breaking the plate when placing it on the table, told us she put too much hot chocolate in the cup so it was overflowing all over the table. The workers just stand around talking instead of making sure the guests are taken care of even the manager leaning against the toy machines talking with security like they are on break. Workers serving is in sweatshirts. Come on Norms hire workers that love and need their jobs not ones that take it for granted. Never again at this location. I be can already see it being a problematic restaurant for Carson. I will definitely pass the word around for people to avoid this location. And yes I got the same dumb reply from management that they will share this review with their team. Apparently that's not working being that I'm not the first person complaining about this location. Really crap service tonight. I'm waiting ten minutes to be greeted at my table, once seated. First thing I say 'I need coffee' followed by my food order because I'd had plenty of time to decide. 'Oh and utinsels', there's none on the table. Another ten minutes, still no coffee. I go to the counter and ask 'Can I please have a mug of coffee?' and another server promises to bring me one. Which she does. Original server appears at my table with entree, and no utinsels. She says "oh I'll bring you utinsels" but doesn't. I had a spoon in the coffee mug so i start eating with that. Now she drops off a soup and salad. (Doesn't that usually come before the entree??) I ask for a knife and fork. She's all 'oh right!'. She brings utinsels now and DROPS OFF THE CHECK. I finished mug of coffee and place it at the edge of the table, handle out, like PLEASE FILL ME!!! She didn't drop by my table again. I got a to-go container from the bus boy. As I get ready to leave, I see server standing around talking to coworkers. As I pay my check I tell host or cashier about the difficulty of getting fecking coffee, that its stretch to pay $2.79 for it, but I'd be happy to take a beverage to go, which she did. Food was okay. I tend to visit this location several times a week, and I must say that the service is always amazing. I think people forget that while the food is always great, eating out is just as much about the experience as it is about the quality. Misty DEFIANTLY provides an experience like no other. Jokes and side bar conversations coupled with speedy service, attention to detail and a wonderful smile makes this Norms my destination location for all late night cravings. Antione, who I have watch grow worm Server to Manager(?) has always been just as great. They both makes a visit seem more like a welcome home than a visit at all. If your a person who expects your server to be more than just a person taking your order I highly recommend meeting the servers at this location. I would give them more stars but apparently society says 5 stars is enough. I've never seen a dirty table, and I seen it packed. Restrooms have always been clean and stocked on my visits. read more

If I can give this place 0 stars, I would. Got here roughly around 10 and didn't receive my order until 10:45. Keep in mind all we ordered was a salad, slice of cheesecake, and Dutch apple pie. Our server, Shaentijer, was extremely unattentive. Didn't even acknowledge us until 25 minutes in and had another server and busser come greet us.
