The worst service!! Been here 2 times, never again. I'll drive to The Norms in Torrance for excellent service.

I went to this norms with a group of friends and they had no one in the restaurant but made us wait 10 minutes for a table and then they took forever to take our order, didnt even ask what drink we wanted before simply bringing us water. when i got my food my hash browns were soggy with oil and the eggs tasted like something they pulled out the toilet. They served everyone their food besides my friend who simply got a burger and watched us eat our food for 15 minuets. This is terrible customer service!!!! do better read more

I want to commend the staff and management team at Norms in Carson, CA. Please disregard the negative comments and remember that you can't please everybody. Although my family is grateful for the grand openning, we also understand that the community you serve also consists of people who think they are royalty and require a red carpet. Norms is a great restaurant and you will have success. Just know that the roaches are beginning to leave Dennys across the street and want to feel important. My family & I just left this Norm's & we were HIGHLY dissatisfied. They said the wait would be 25 minutes & we waited way longer than that to be seated. Then when they finally called our names, we came to the front desk only to find out they gave our table away when they just called our names not even a minute before! So we then had to wait for them to clean another table for us. After we sat down, we told the waiter that we needed a minute to look at the menu. He didn't come back for about 20 mins! When he finally came to take our order, we waited almost AN HOUR for our food! Yes, an hour! Then to make matters even worse, after most of us got our food, some of my other family members didn't get their food until we were almost done with ours! And some of our orders were just WRONG. After all of this, we were literally there for 3 hours!!! I've been to other locations that are just as busy but still provide excellent service. Overall, we had a horrible experience & I will not be coming back to this Norm's. I would give it 0 stars if I could! read more

Food was good. Way understaffed. The restaurant had more empty tables than full but the wait to be seated was very long.

I am having a hard time writing this review. This was my first visit to this location. My server Maya was fantastic, can't complain at all about the service. The food was good as well. There are two issues I do have. First they charge a surcharge on top of the prices posted on the menu. Secondly, I noticed at the end of my meal that the cooks were using latex gloves. This is in violation of Senate bill 677 which amended the health and safety code sections 113961 and 113973 to ban the use of latex gloves in restaurants. I do have a severe allergy to latex so wondering if I am going to have a reaction or not. Sad to say that I will not be returning read more

I have come to this Norm's on several occasions and the one thing that is consistent is their lack luster customer service. They have young people working the front but they lack proper training on how to greet people. Once I finally directed the young man on how to seat me, my waiter came and again there was more less than stellar service, almost as if they did not want to be there. I ordered my food quickly because this time it was just myself and they brought it fast, but my French toast was burnt. I honestly couldn't believe that they even served that to me. Proper etiquette would dictate to through that out and prepare something fresh, but no. I know my waiter saw the unpleasant look on my face and tried to avoid me. Once I got his attention I told him that if they were inedible I would send them back, but after his reaction I didn't even bother. My breakfast experience was ruined. I didn't finish more than half my food, paid, left a tip even though he did not deserve it and left. Do not come this Norms if you are looking for an awesome service experience!!!! If you are a local then it is convenient but I'd rather go across the street to Denny's. Very disappointed. read more

My family and I went there for brunch on Easter Sunday. I understand that it is busy but come on, they should of known that. It took over 40 minutes to get our food. I had to ask the manager to get our drinks. The waitress keep on getting orders but not getting them out on a timely manner. read more

Ordered food over the phone for pickup. Baked potato was not cut open and they did not give any of the toppings. I said medium rare for my steak and it was over done and they over cooked the pork chops. Both meats were hard. The food was placed in orange containers and it was sloppy. The food is great, the service was good, but my complaint is when paying the bill . I presented my AAA Norms discount on my phone but was denied because they want a printed copy from now on, which doesn't state that on Norms discount. I have been able to receive my discount through my phone in the past. I don't think it was handled correctly by Norms. read more

I came into Norms excited to eat with my friends & family celebrating the New year. We didn't mind the 30 minute wait because of the holidays. What we did have an issue with was the wait after we were seated. We waited about 1 hour & the tables that were seated after us received their food before us. Things were missing & food was not cooked as requested & plates were taken back more than twice. This was poor food service. Misty was AMAZING. read more

Terrible Service! Went in with my family on a not very crowded night, and had to ask the waitress for menus and table settings after 10 minutes. Then after finally receiving our drinks, our server disappeared. When she finally returned after 20 minutes to take our order, she left and did not come back. No refills, no check up, nothing. After another 30 minutes of dry mouths, we gave up and asked for our check. $19 for 5 drinks! Terrible. No compensation and they even tried to charge us for the food they never brought. Was not asked about our experience. Won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend this Norm's. read more

Came to Norms tonight and waited about 15 minutes for a table. They sat us down and waited about another 15 minutes. No one ever acknowledged us or even asked what we wanted to drink. We finally asked the host who our server was and she didn't know. All the other servers gathered around and didn't know who was supposed to serve us. RIDICULOUS! we got up and left because this place was a shit show and had a bunch of idiots working, not knowing what to do. read more

We live about 5 mins away from here off of Avalon and figured we try it because we have eaten at other norms in Lakewood and Torrance, so we were hoping the service and food would be just as good. I wouldn't even give this place one star , but had to, to write this review. Service and quality of food was so bad. Workers seemed very untrained from greeting people to making sure their food is good and drinks also. Friendly customer service is lacking and if people notice it and it's still not getting better, that's a management problem. Drinks came in dirty cups, silverware was not clean and even table was a bit dirty as well. Food took awhile and the appetizers came out cold first. But we had the steak and eggs and pancakes and it ALL came out cold...SMDH. We almost were gonna complain and tell them take it back, but we figured hey this will be our first and last time here. We were hoping for the same service like the other norms, but this norms hands down is sooo bad, I will be definitely telling my family and others do not waste your time trying this place or eating here. It's sad cause it's a local business and good spot and more restaurants for our community. But until these issues get fixed, I don't see this norms lasting long and business will decline. So good luck, we will stick with IHOP on Avalon. They always have people waiting at times to get in and be seated , but it's worth the wait compared to having to eat here and like i said it's starts with the quality of service. Make people want to come back and make sure they like their food and it's on point. I read a lot of bad reviews after we ate here and totally regret not reading them before we went to try this norms. This restaurant does not have good service or food it is the 3rd time I come here and frankly food and service has been really bad! Today I had the worst waitress and the manager didn't make it any better! Our soup was super thick and the waitress charged me for sierra mist when I only asked for soda water and the manager said I couldn't share my hot chocolate with my 18 month old and 5 year old granddaughters when I only gave them a tiny bit! I don't change my regular Norms in Torrance they are very nice there! These people are rude and have a nerve I am not going back here anymore! Norms in Carson is finally open and the new locations is beautiful. It has a large seating area and ample parking. We came to this location on Saturday night and we were seated almost immediately. My wife ordered her usual plain hamburger with fries and I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with sourdough toast. Now you would think a restaurant that hypes the fact that they are open 24/7 and that they serve breakfast anytime would not mess up with a simple ham and cheese omelet. Well, you would be wrong. My toast arrived as they served my wife's burger and fries but I was told that my omelet would be right out. Well, 5 to 10 minutes later my omelet finally arrived with a bit of an apology. The omelet was good and the hash browns were crispy and hot, but it should not have taken that long to make a simple ham and cheese omelet. Sure, this place has only been open a week or so but this again is Norms and they are known for their breakfasts. This location seemed over staffed but again, they are just getting open so I am sure they are trying to get as many people trained as possible. I would suggest that Norms work on getting all food to the table at the same time instead of what happened to us. The jury is out as to if we will be back or not. read more

Unfortunately, my visit to Norms was a poor experience. When I arrived around 10:05pm, the restaurant was practically empty, so I figured I could get in, order a meal with minimal wait, then head home. There was no one at the host station to greet me (except the security guard), so I waited about 5 mins before I decided to have a seat at the bar. I watched as the serving staff joked around near the food prep area for 5 minutes before they disbursed to start serving food that had been sitting in the prep area since the time I sat down. Five minutes later, a server came over to me to ask if I had been helped. When I told her "no", she said she would be right back.....which was 5 minutes later. When she came back, she took my drink order (which was a hot tea), she brought it a few minutes later and said she would be back to take my food order. Ten minutes later when she finally came back, I had had enough and asked for my check. Here's my point: I waited over 25 minutes in a half-empty restaurant where the employees displayed unprofessional behavior, and all I ended up with was a cup of tea because I became to frustrated to order anything else. I've decided I'm not going back there anytime soon. My server check number is 968 on 10/7/2019. I would seriously recommend some customer service training for that store. read more

Went with a large group to celebrate cousin's birthday for dinner on a Thursday night. Wasn't sure what to expect but was a Great experience! Everything was new, decor was more modern than a typical Norms, place was bright and staff was friendly. We had the pleasure of having Maya as our server--she was awesome! Handled our party of 11 and all our special requests with a smile, and always came back to check on us. Food was good and came out quickly.The staff even came and sang happy birthday with a small dessert. Hope this Norms does well and keeps up the great work. read more

My favorite place to go! Food is always great at the right price! This place is close to my college campus and its great to be able to go here for breakfast and even late nights after the parties. The burgers are also my personal favorite with their famous Norms sauce! Excellent service! read more

Couldn't have wrote it better! I was part of this 12 people group. We Came from Austin and just had my 1st ever!! Racist moment ! Security was a joke! ( and I'm a officer so I can say that !) manager should be fired! Worst experience I've ever had. We came in at 10:00 with a larger crowd. There were 12 of us. We were told approx 15 minute wait time. I get it, we're a bigger crowd. Other parties with 6-8 got seated pretty quickly that came in after us. After waiting almost an hour, we finally get seated. Our waiter walks away and starts to chat with the manager who's standing at the front entrance area. After waiting another 20 minutes sitting down, still nobody ever comes to get a drink order or offer us water. THEY GAVE US PITCHERS OF WATER! WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO POUR IT MYSELF? , after we get no attention at all, we finally decided we'd had enough and decided maybe it was best we leave. We had small children that were hungry. People that came in after us, sat down and ate and left before us. Absolutely ridiculous. As we're walking out the manager mumbles something and smiles and waves to us good bye. I asked him what he said and he tells me nothing. Once I get my kids in the car I go back in to get the managers name. He says I can talk to Antwan and turns to go the other way so I couldn't see his name tag. Antwan was the shift leader according to his badge. The manager was an African American man, bald head, black pants white button up short sleeve shirt red tie. Never got a single apology, never any attention whatsoever. I will never go back here, and I will tell everyone I know about the experience we had. I hate to do that but that's crazy. We had small kids that were hungry and ready to eat. Extremely poor service all the way around. I get it's late and we're a larger party, but they were better off telling us off the top they were gonna take forever to get to us.
