I was wanting something light and inexpensive for lunch and had been seeing advertisements for their 8.99 combos so I decided to google the nearest location by my job & this was the closest (bordering Carson and right next to the 91 E). I had JJ's several years ago & did not care for the texture of their bread as it was very "spongy" and "foam" like. FF to today and I was very impressed with their artisan bread (white). It was fresh, soft, and very tasty. The sandwich in this combo is 8" and they put the usual accoutrements (mayo, lettuce, tomatoes) but they do not pile on the ingredients (@ least not in the combo); however, it was perfect since I was not wanting to eat a heavy meal. You have several options for sides so I chose the greek cucumber salad and it was very tasty. You also get several options for the drink choices. I placed my order via their website with ease and the GPS told me it was 11 min away & by the time I arrived my order was ready! Single employee on duty, he was friendly and gave me my order immediately. Store was very clean and not busy at all at the time I went. There is one curbside parking spot available out front for to go orders and the parking lot is a decent size but is located in a small strip mall and appeared to be a little congested. The Jimmy John's on Central Avenue in Compton keeps a clean restaurant with friendly customer service. My favorite is the tuna. It's good, fresh and not too much mayo. They just recently discontinued their crispy jalapeños which makes me sad, they were sooo good in the sandwich. It's cool, they sell them in the grocery store. I've given this location enough chances. Today I had all the time in the world to double back and return ANOTHER sandwich made with some of the crispiest, crunchiest, stalest bread ever! The staleness was evident to the touch, even when the manager pressed it. This tells me that employees how to be fully aware they Re using old, stale bread or management is pushing for them to do so. Coincidentally upon my return, the manager said fresh bread had just come out of the oven. He remade my sandwich and noted my JJ account to use fresh bread ONLY for any future orders. While appreciate the manager remaking my sandwich and giving me a free bag of chips, I will bypass this location and drive elsewhere if needed. My husband and I just moved to the area and have been coming to this location a few times per week for quick meals. Beware of the mayo king! One of the employees is VERY heavy handed with mayo. We have to order EZ mayo at this location just to get the normal amount. Otherwise, the entire sandwich falls apart due to how much he uses and there is a mayo mess everywhere. Service here is also often slow. This is not a "freaky fast" location. Prepare to wait 5-10 min after ordering for your food to be done. I ordered the avocado, cucumber and cheese. I paid total $18 for with chips and a small fountain power aid. When I asked what are the options for cheese, I was informed they only have provolone. They have tons delicious options to choose from, my go to is the number 14 with everything and I add peppers,pickles , and cucumbers with a side of potato salad if it's available. I usually drop by for dinner and they have ran out for the day, they will sub for the pasta salad which is good too but not as good in my opinion. The staff took orders then let you go inside to hand the staff your order form. Very quick process short wait for the sandwich and it was not crowded inside. I ordered the veggie delight hold the mayo and cheese. I added the spicy JJ mustard and some peppers. My sandwich was delicious. The bread was soft. The ingredients were sparse I had move items around to find the tomatoes. No picture of the open sandwich because you can only see lettuce. Oh, they do charge $1 to add cheese to a sandwich. So my picky son told the waiter what he wanted on his sandwich as he didn't see it exactly on the menu. The waiter picked one of the sandwiches and did an up charge for the cheese. After further exploring the menu I changed it to a different sandwich and asked to hold some ingredients...no up charge and there was cheese.
