What's not to like. Its Norms and I am so happy they are making a comeback and opening more locations. I still remember the 1st Norms 30+ year ago in Rosemead or San Gabriel on Valley Blvd I visited and was sad when they close that location and many other. But lucky for me not all the locations were closed but just a bit of a drive. Now about the location: came on Saterday and boy was crowded but good thing they have 1st come 1st service counter table open. The Staff was very friendly and very accommodating as expected of Norms. Food came out fast and the fruit topping hot cakes was delicious. The decor is update and looks fresh. read more

We ordered two to go meals last night and it was awful. The hash browns were burnt the potato soup tasted like old mashed potatoes mixed with cold water. The gravy was a brown glob on top of cold meatloaf. We both threw the meals in the trash and we were sick all last night. It was a nightmare. Awesome. It's a brand new built restaurant in Carson Mall. It used to be the sears tire center I think. A lot of people come and eat here. It's cheap and affordable. Waitresses are nice and welcoming. The food was okay except for the pancakes because it has a weird smell on it. read more

The service was great. The server was attentive and polite. The problem was our food. When the server arrived to our table with our food there was a nasty smell. Since my mother got salmon I assumed that it was a fish smell. Then my sister and father tried their sirloin steak and they said it tasted off. We realized that the smell came from the steak. It turns out that it wasn't the seasoning, but rather that the meat was expired. My mother has been working in a kitchen as a cook for 10+ years and was able to identify it. We told the server and she exchanged it. But the cooks should have been able to identify that the meat was expired. Visually and by the smell. read more

This is the second time I've been at this new location. The first time my over easy eggs came out hard and undercooked hashbrowns after waiting almost an hour to get a table. Second time here I had to send back my T-Bone steak which i asked for medium rare and came out well done instead. It's a T-Bone guys, who ever asks for this cut well done? On a positive note they replaced the steak quickly with one that was cooked to the right temperature. If this was a steakhouse the review would be one star for sure, but it's Norms. And their food is always just "norm", so don't come with high expectations and you'll walk away feeling satisfied. read more

Just had a great breakfast with a friend, due to this pandemic I requested our food be served in to go containers the Manager was very kind and said it would be fine. Upon completion of our meal my Sis found a small pebble in her hash browns the Manager came over and apologized for the incident, she requested my Sis complete a form to send to corporate explaining the matter she gave my Sis a copy of the form and comped our meals. Juan our server was great. He went above and beyond to give us great service. He was fast, efficient, and very kind. Went here for the first time since my family wanted to try it. We got sat within 5 minutes & that was great! In the beginning it was going great, Luis had a great personality but after he took our order he got too much to run food. We can see the kitchen and there was a lot of food in the expo line. Others were running all the food but Luis was too much getting drinks and starting up other tables. It seems like he got slammed back to back. I feel bad for him. We were informed that he is moving to a different section okay that's fine.. He actually dropped off the food we ordered from him and that was nice. So now we have Juan, he was so helpful. I'm sorry we were asking him for everything because we were rushing to leave. We waited for 45 minutes to get our food. And we only got to eat our food for 15-20 mins because we had to go. When we got our food they were cold, I understand they have to prepare the food ahead of time at least heat them up or put it on the grill so when they serve it to people it's hot. It's not fun eating food that are already cold. My sister didn't get to eat her eggs and French toast. Also, if you like your eggs "over medium" ask for over easy instead because when I get my egg it was dry. Over medium eggs has a little runny yolk. I would not recommend this place if you're very specific with how you want your food to be. I'm giving this place 3 stars because we got sat right away, 2 of our servers did their best to serve us and we're very helpful. read more

I usually drive to PCH to get norms and I live around carson. I was glad they opened a new one near me and I literally was so excited about it. Once we walked in, i was surprised how full it can get at a weekend evening. There were a lot of workers in the front just standing around which looked like they're not doing anything and didn't know what to do. Food was great and fast. I noticed Norms Carson was opening up today so I decided to go there for breakfast. The restaurant looks beautiful both inside and out. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted and I told them I wanted to sit at the counter since I was dining alone. I ordered my favorite Bigger Better Breakfast along with a cup of coffee. Both arrived within a few minutes and tasted great. Looks like they had plenty of staff to handle the crowd even though the place was full. It's nice when a new restaurant can function well on the first day instead of having a lot of growing pains. I am very happy with the food, service and since the location is close to my Moms house, I will be taking her there often. read more

That was some of the best Chicken Alfredo that I have ever had!! A great meal with Great service here. All tables are outside and spaced well for physical distancing with a Unique Protocol to ask guests to sanitize their hands before entering the eating area but I agree and was glad to see this measure in place. My dinner included a house salad and soup of the day with amazing red Texas toast! There is enough in the serving for two so I would need to order a second serving of red Texas toast next time. Me and my husband always come here if we want to eat outside, but not spend much. They have decent meals that can fill you up which makes the money you spend here worth. A server here named Richard is pretty goofy. Sometimes we get him as a server and sometimes not but he brings good vibes to this restaurant. The other servers we've had have been great too though. We never really had a bad server yet. I'm not too sure why this place gets bad reviews when they're not supposed to be a high tier formal restaurant in the first place; they're more of a casual cozy experience. Very disappointed double charged at norms. Every one that visited this location an a few others got double charged from Jan-2-20 to Jan-3-20. So if you visited this restaurants on dose 2 days and paid with a credit card please check your bank accounts to make sure you get your funds back or resolve something. 77-YO senior arrives at 5:40 PM on Thursday, 2/22/24. Customer is seated at 5:47 PM. Server takes order at 5:51 PM. Food arrives between 5:55 PM and 6:04. Server presents bill at 6:09 PM and says she is going on her break. I notice the advertised senior 20% discount cited as available through 6:00 PM is not shown on the bill. Server states ???? will cover for her and bring me my dessert when I am ready. Finished my meal at 6:23. At 6:38 PM I flag a server and ask who is covering for my server. One asks what she can get for me and I mentioned the bill. My dessert is delivered at 6:40. The bill is not addressed. I take my bill to the cashier and ask about the senior discount. He states it is after 6:00 PM and there is nothing he can do for me. He rings me up at 6:49 PM. Customer asks if the manager is available. He states there is no manager on duty. Customer leaves wondering why he came here again knowing this Norms operation is never customer focused and the service is VERY inconsistent even though the food is usually decent. The customer vows to drive twice the distance and frequent the Norms on PCH in Torrance where he has ALWAYS been a valued patron since the day that one opened. read more

I've been to this location a few times and knew it was bad but didn't think it was going to be as bad as today. Went in for breakfast around 9:30 am on a Tuesday. We ordered an apple juice and they didn't have any!? So we ordered a raspberry iced tea and it tasted watered down. We also ordered a hot chocolate and they had no whipped cream! Was disappointed because I ordered a waffle and I always get it with whipped cream on top. I also ordered another hot chocolate and it tasted VERY watered down I took one sip and put it aside. In this world..nobody is perfect...but it's how you handle the situation...and how you treat others...that matters..... This is a great location, lots of parking, roomy inside (wheelchair friendly), good menu choices, great tasting food....operates smoothly on busy holidays. I would recommend this place, the wait time on a busy holiday maybe around 30 minutes. I like the flooring (no carpet) so you know it gets cleaned daily, lol. Nice bright layout, very open space as I walked into the restaurant. There's good service with the wait-staff/bussers. I noticed the prompt removal of dishes on empty tables allowing for a new group to sit and enjoy. The delivery of food to table service was made within a timely manner. Because it was such a busy day it was a good experience a nice bite to eat with a full house. It's a casual dining restaurant, a good place to eat for the entire family and friends. Ideal for dining when you want American food, there's plenty of stores to do some shopping when your done. I do recommend this location. read more

The worst! We ordered 2 breakfasts, basic bacon & eggs...coffee and a diet Coke. Bill came out to $34.00. One person took the order, 2nd guy brought my plate then we had to wait about 8 minutes for his plate. I was not going to start eating without him, so I waited. Breakfast got cold. They forgot his tortillas.(likes to eat with over easy eggs). 5 minutes into the meal...we ask for hot sauce, a coffee refill and the tortillas. The guy says, "they're coming". The first lady comes back and said, "don't be in such a rush for the tortillas". EXCUSE ME? We weren't assholes, we left a couple of bucks on the counter.
