Ordered a country steak and eggs with pancakes which was excellent and as expected. Ordered a side order of hash browns which were good and a side order of biscuits and gravy which were missing the FIRST time I went to pick up my food. I went back to get the biscuits and gravy which they handed over to me without question. When I stepped outside i figured I'd look at the order one last time and saw that the gravy on the biscuits looked funny. I opened it up to taste the gravy which I automatically spit out because it tasted and smelled horrible. I went in to let the person in the front know and he kindly took it back and tried to get me another order. As I saw him go to the back to speak to the chef, the chef grabbed the exact same order that the front person had, went on to put more of the exact same sauce on that same order and gave it back to the front person to give to me. As he handed it over I asked the front person if the chef really just added more of that stuff and called it fixed? He said yes. The chef said that is their country gravy. I went ahead took out my country fried steak and eggs and showed him the difference in the sauce. The steak had a nice white creamy gravy, the biscuits had a translucent sauce that looked like grits. He saw it and went to the back, where he met with the manager in charge. She grabbed the biscuits and came to me and said "sir, this is the country gravy, we do not substitute the sauces" I showed her my steak and showed her the difference. She went on to say again that THAT was the county gravy but it was a fresh batch and it had to sit before it turned creamy. I asked if she was sure because it tasted bad, and she said yes because they don't use another sauce. I took it home figuring i would let it sit. My pregnant wife looked at it, smelled and tasted it and went on to throw up because of how bad it was. I am sitting here after eating everything but the biscuits and gravy typing to you guys and the gravy still looks and smells just as bad as it did when I first received it and it's been "sitting" and "resting" for over 45 minutes. My mother and I went around 9:30AM today. We only waited for about 5 minutes to be seated. Our server Jose we sat over by the bar area in a booth, was over within 10 minutes of us sitting down, he was amazing quick everything came out in a timely fashion he checked in with us enough he was a perfect 5 stars. I deduced two star because the food was luke warm. It wasn't cold but it wasn't hot. It felt as though it had been seating for a while, we both tried the steak and eggs. So it feels like everything besides the meat was cooked first and then once the meat was done they brought everything out. So long story short server amazing , food was just okay. read more

My boyfriend and I came in to eat breakfast on Sunday morning. Knowing to expect the Sunday traffic. But this place really has horrible service. My order took forever. I ordered a steak and chicken tenders with a side of fries. One the fries never came. Two the steak was disgusting. It tastes like a dirty burnt grill. I've always order my steak the same. The lady at the cashier register told Me next time order on a flat grill. No because I've never had to do that my steak always tasted good. Three my chicken tender took forever to come to the table I asked for honey mustard 20 mins later she was on her way I didn't eat my cold ass chicken tenders ! Horrible place to go eat. They know what traffic to expect. They should know better. I wasn't the only table complaining the table next to us had to go looking around for condiments and got up twice to the counter to get coffee refills. Just left Norms due to poor / no service. Arrived at 8:45 am, was seated immediately however no one ever came to our table to take our order or even ask if we wanted to order beverages. At 9:05 am we decided to leave. The restaurant was not busy and I could see workers socializing. BEWARE I didn't want to leave a bad review, but here we are. The Cons: Bad service, careless employees, & etc. The Pros: Norms has good pancakes. That's it! This(Carson)Location has the worst service ever! Incident #1: I once ordered three separate pancake breakfast orders to-go. When I got home, I realized that the third order was a plate full of hash browns only. When I called the restaurant to discuss the mix up, they made it seem like I placed the order incorrectly. I had to speak to the manager and she gave me a complimentary meal because I refused to drive all the way back up there. Incident#2 More recently I went in after the lunch rush hour ended. While I stood at the hostess/cashier counter, one young lady had her back towards the door and was leaning up against a cash register. The second girl was chatting and putting money in the register. They both totally ignored me. I eventually had to ask them if I could be seated . The girl counting the money told me to hold on. I stood there looking at them continue their conversation, and finally, she nonchalantly did a lap around the restaurant and didn't return. After awhile, I asked the other girl who was relaxing against the register if there was an available table. She walked off to find her buddy as I stood there irritated. The first girl appeared and told me that all the tables were dirty and that she needed to find someone to clean them. I told her I'd just sit at the bar/counter, and she said that she'd get me a table soon. Once I was seated, it took at least 5 minutes for my server to appear. I already knew what I wanted and I ordered a waffle meal. To make an already super long story short, I bit into my waffle and immediately spit it back up. I waived down the server and told her that something was wrong with the waffle. It turns out that one of the cooks made my waffle with fish batter, Egh! I was livid! The managers response was " it was a human common error." Can you believe that she didn't even comp my meal? Omg! If I were allergic, that "common human error" could have been far worse for me. This place is a disaster! There's virtually no waiting area...if you've ever been to a Norms in your life then you know the place always gets packed. They have very very limited seating to wait so people just overflow all over the place and even sit on the long straight booths where people are eating. Rude. Also, while we waited a panhandler came in asking people for cash INSIDE. He walked table to table even sitting next to people eating while ask for money. That's ridiculous!!! We were finally seated in a back corner next to another family with screaming kids that were throwing bacon all over the floor at our feet. I have a 9yo that sat with his jaw on the table watching the shenanigans in here. This is when I decided to write a yelp review and saw the one about ROACHES from only 3 days ago!! This was my second visit at this NORMS. I was actually really excited that it opened up down the street from my house. It's a diner so wasn't really expecting much service. Went there early today 7am 18 May 2019; place was not busy whatsoever, rep sat us down...one waitress passed us by w/o a word or greetings...11 minutes later another waitress came and laid down utensils then we left since she didn't take our order, we went to Denny's and received better customer service. I like coming to Norms for a good breakfast that is reasonably priced and of good quality. The service has always been pretty good for us when we dine here and breakfast never takes too long before it's put at the table. The French toast is but I also just enjoy getting your typical breakfast plate here. Sometimes it can get a bit crowded but that's expected when having breakfast on the weekends. I've been a patron of Norms for many years. I was happy when one opened near our home. The first time we came in we were not impressed with the food or the service, we blamed the inexperienced staff and decided to try again at a later time. The second time we came in the whole restaurant smelled like sewage, from the parking lot all the way inside it smelled horrible, they tried to cover it up with fragrance sprays but it just made it worse. Needless to say the smell ruined our meal, I decided not to order at all and my wife took two bites of her food and packed up the rest. Today we decided to go again since our kids wanted to try Norms for breakfast. We had our meals without incident but when the bill came they had raised the price of one of our plates and added an additional surcharge to the total. When we asked about the surcharge we were told "that's how we can keep our prices low" which is an oxymoron if ever I heard one. Sorry to say I've lost faith in my old pal Norm!! Stay away, there is a Denny's across the street that has always had solid service. read more

Sunday morning. Wait is a bit excessive but not much you can. For 2 we waited about forty minutes. Not sure if the lack of service was due to it being busy or Shantier just not knowing how to wait the table. It started badly with the hostess, but the waiter was one of the best I've ever had! His name was Richard, and he was great! He helped recommend the cobb salad (which was amazing) with their homemade ranch dressing. He was respectful, kind, attentive, and made the experience a lot comfortable during covid. He certainly what he is doing and deserves a raise. I haven't seen a happier server in such a long time. Richard is the best! There was an additional waiter that was so kind and helped me with my troubles with the hostess. She was a Hispanic woman, mother-like, who was so kind even though she didn't serve us. Worst service ever. Spent 2 and a half hours at the restaurant which constituted an hour and a half of JUST WAITING. We had our name erased from the list of people when there were plenty of seats available which delayed us even longer. The food was alright but it took an hour to get us our food. The garlic parmesan fries were so lazily done. We wanted to ask for condiments on the side and other sauces but the workers were all just the kitchen just talking and loitering. They didn't even ask us on how we were doing. I had to stand up and get the server's attention FROM the kitchen or else they would have never came to us. Stay away from this Norm's period. TLDR: This is one of the worst services I've experienced at a restaurant. We were even contemplating just cancelling the order and leaving, but just stayed because we were hungry. read more
