Great place in the mall to get a big nutritious meal fast. And the Staff is really friendly.

One of my foodie coworkers recommended Kauboi Izakaya and I was intrigued. I much prefer izakaya…read morerestaurants to sushi restaurants. I love the tapas style dishes with flavor-packed bites. We came in around 7:00 and the place was packed. The hostess told us that it would be a 20 minute wait, so we stopped in next door to Sierra Nevada Chocolates for gelato. We didn't have the chance to finish our scoops before I got a phone call letting me know our table was ready. I love myself a good cold soba noodle dish and this one did not disappoint. Cold veggies and savory sauce tossed with nutty buckwheat noodles. I could have eaten an entire serving of this, but my bf was in town and we split our dishes. The rice tots were unique. Crispy rice and a sweet slightly spicy dragon sauce. I love tater tots, I love spicy tuna on crispy rice, so I knew the rice tots would be a good pick. The mushroom croquettes were my favorite of the night. The ooey gooey creamy rich filling was so flavorful and the mushrooms added a meatiness, while the panko coated crust was perfectly crisp. It was a texturally pleasing dish. The gyozas were tender little pockets with a flavorful shrimp filling and I'm a sucker for chili crisp. Another great dish. Our server was just okay. I couldn't tell if he was awkward or a pretentious hipster. Dishes came out one at a time, but with good timing. Basically, as soon as we were done another would arrive. Inside was dark, loud and crowded with a 90s playlist. We normally hate crowds and waiting for tables, but we both agreed to come back.

Came back with some friends from Vegas and we ordered the following:…read more Ordered: - Tokyo Fried Chicken Thigh and Spicy Mayo: This is so good! It's perfectly crisp 5/5 - Hamachi and Asian Pear and Aji Amarillo: fish is fresh, pear is good, and the cubed soy sauce all work surprisingly well together 5/5 - Ten layer Pork Tonkatsu and Black garlic: I love the hint of wasabi flavor, but you don't actually feel the spiciness of it. 5/5 - Chicken Skin Skewers: very crispy and thin on the outside and soft on the inside. 5/5 - Chicken Thigh Skewers: the chicken is not dry at all and the green onions helps bring out the flavor more 5/5 - Bone Broth ramen: pork is great, but the noodles, and broth tastes like a wonton soup . The egg yolk tasted different 3/5 - Battleship: the fries are thin and crispy which I love. The cheese balls and meat are good. The curry is good and it should come with a bowl of rice 5/5 - Gyoza: it's more a dumpling, a little too acidic but the meat is very flavorful 4/5 There was no wait this time on a Friday evening. I feel like the music is still too loud, but I enjoy the environment. The staff are always attentive and quick. This was a much better experience, than the first time I came here. However, the prices are still high for the amount of food served.

I can't believe that our family hadn't been here as it's located not that far from us. My daughter…read moreloves all you can eat sushi so we do frequent places, what stood out here was the Donald Duck nigiri's. They were fresh and flavorful. I wasn't sure what the Cerviche roll would be like, but all the flavors really came together. My husband had the poke bowl and you can select the fish. He chose rainbow and the portion size was good as well as the toppings. Especially for the $14.99 price. One of the desert choices is fried tempera banana with ice cream, which was a hit with my daughter. Service was good. The restaurant is nice and clean. There is a fair amount of bar seating. We sat at a 4 top.

The beef tataki is a MUST, and their salmon nigiri and super white tuna were standouts. Not sure who else in town serves beef nigiri or super white tuna, but those are definitely worth trying. We were missing the spicy tuna hand roll and salmon skin hand roll from our first round, but everything else came out. The miso soup was also really good, while the mussels and seaweed salad were just OK and could use a little more flavor. Service was good, and the ambience was nice. Just a heads-up, Saturdays or weekend can get pretty packed and orders may take a while, so I'd recommend visiting on a weekday if you can. 5/5 for me! Definitely coming back for the beef tataki and more sushi!

This place is good for families as dishes ars big and carefully prepared. I would wish to give them a 4 or 5 star but the problem I had is they have too extensive of a menu that dishes are either good or just a miss. The xo scallops are flavored right but are not seared and dont have the proper texture for a cooked scallop. The salted fish rice was ok but it wasnt so salty. The pluses are the cup sized soups are good price and really delicious. The garlic noodles are great as well, but if you have nothing to pair it with just as great then it is hard to eat. They have a lot of items on the menu but when youre a small party of 2 or 3 it is hard to choose what to order. The grilled oysters were great but too huge. The jellyfish was also good. Place is small for a family style setting but it works. It is clean and intimate. I would give them another chance if I have a larger party or guest visiting town so we can try the larger plates and expand the variety hoping to hit their best dishes

I have been to many AYCE sushi restaurants here in the Reno area. I never understood how the fish…read morecan be so fresh out here in the high desert. But, it is! The service was very good. We were seated quickly. Now that can be attributed to the fact that we were early for dinner. We opted for a tabled, but there were plenty of seats available at the sushi bar. We only waited for a few minutes before the first wave of fish was delivered. Throughout dinner, we never had to wait long for the sushi to be delivered. The atmosphere was decent. It felt like it was more of a storefront than a traditional restaurant. But, it was a storefront and I don't care about that. I base my rating on freshness, service and cleanliness of the store. One thing that surprised me was the Kani (crab). I ordered it wondering if it would be real crab or imitation. It was real! I was happy and surprised. I ate my fill. Actually, I ate more than my fill. Enjoyed it completely. My sushi coma was justified. Freshness: 10 Service (dining time 3:30pm) : 10 Friendly: 9 (Anymore would be just awkward) Cleanliness: 10 Parking: 10 Bottom Line ------------------ Would I recommend O' A Sushi to friends and family? Yes. Would I go back there again? Yes.

Soooo, I'm starting off with four stars. I may add another, after dining here for dinner as opposed…read moreto lunch. That being said, I am an Ohana regular, so I cheated on them today with O'A. So let's get the cons out of the way first. My son and I sat at the bar, and on the big screen against the wall, CNN FAKE NEWS was playing. Personally irritating, and I don't think they should be showing news shows from any side at a restaurant. We were in during lunch hours, and towards the end of our visit we were the last party there. That being said, clearing out our empty plates and getting refills wasn't very expeditious. I sat probably for about 15 minutes with an empty soda cup. I would understand if it was busy and at night. Disappointingly, lunch has its own separate menu, and you can't order dinner rolls for the lunch price, like you can at Ohana, Hinoki and other places I've been to and frequented. Now that, that's out of the way let's get to the rest of the review. I'm guessing the owners, we're super nice. We were greeted right as we walked in the door and chose our seats. Victor was our sushi chef. Great guy, and turns out some great sushi. The next time I go I will be sure to sit with him, but the other two Cooks were nice also. The entire restaurant, especially the bar area was spotless! I can tell they all take pride in what they do. My sin and I ordered probably 65% of the lunch menu. The quail egg shooters, whcih we ordered about a dozen total were SUPER good, and served in a modified Oriental soup "spoon" instead of a shot glass. Sort of awkward to eat, but doable and tasty. My personal favorite (lunch) roll was the "Crazy Dream" roll. SO many different flavor profiles. They had unique takes on some of the nigiri and appetizers, like the 'butterfly' and the tempura Jalapeno opposed to other sushi joints. So all in all, it was good enough for me to go back and give the dinner menu a try. When I do, Ill be sure to write an update! ***DISCLAIMER*** This pure, uncut, honest review is federally protected under Federal Law by way of Bill #EO14149.
