Moved to Kits from Port Moody in May of last year and couldn't have been happier about the move, but were sad to leave our favourite pizza place. We found Nook just walking by (amazing location right across from Kits beach). It is now our go-to... even better than our one! The staff is super laid back and friendly, the food is amazing (Salami & Olive pizza, Prosciutto & Burrata are the best), they play great music and the environment is different from anywhere in Vancouver. Pros - Decent food Good wine list Good table service Drink service while in line Cons - one hour wait in line (arrived at 6) Noisy Cramped Bit pricy for the experience Good neighborhood restaurant. I had Gnocchi which was a bit chewy but tasty. Friends had pasta or pizza. Pizza was very large portion for one (would be better to share between 2 ppl). Antipasto meat and cheese board was excellent but a little short on bread for 4 ppl. Server was friendly but guy managing line was a bit snarky. I wouldn't wait in line a second time. read more

The Nook is a great little spot we stumbled on during a recent visit to the area - we liked it so much we went there both days of our trip (which sounds crazy, but it is really that good). It's a cozy little spot with really great service, delicious food, and awesome wine. The food was all super fresh and the menu was perfect - enough selection without feeling overwhelming, and thoughtful combinations of ingredients. I have never been to a restaurant where I couldn't get a cup of tea. But I couldn't here. Not any kind of tea. Surely, if the water is already being heated for americanos, it can't be too hard to buy a few boxes of tea: an English Breakfast, Earl Grey, green, and something herbal like mint. The Meatballs with a side of Arugula are my go to items here. My friend LOvES the Gnocchi, Coffee and Wine! The real star is the Tiramisu. To. Die. For. Staff are stellar and happy. Great food, terrible service. Salad and Antipasto should not come after the main course. Also be specific of the type of seating you want. When we refused the "nook" at the edge of the bar and asked for a table we literally were left waiting for a table, when bar stools would've done. read more

Best gluten free pasta I've had in forever, hubby said his was great as well! the food here is just... *insert emoticons with hearts in their eyes here* i seriously cannot put it into words. ok, i'll try. their pizza is phenomenal and what they're known for (i've tried the one with prosciutto and arugula on it) but i actually think my favourite dish i've tried here is the casarecce (homemade pasta with sausages, olives, etc.) - i have a weakness for homemade pasta, and they definitely did not skimp out on the amount of sausage pieces they put in. their wine is very good too. we grabbed an italian bottle that i couldn't pronounce the last time we were there (that was apparently also organic), and the time before that, i had a glass of their cabernet franc, which was fantastic. it also was $15 a glass, but completely worth it. the only reason this place isn't getting five stars is because we got such terrible service the first time my friends and i tried to go here. the hostess was beyond rude to us and wouldn't seat us until our whole party was there (it must have just been here though, or they abolished the rule, because that didn't happen the next two times we were there). i think she was just a miserable person that was unhappy with her own life because she talked to us in such a condescending tone (it didn't help she was six feet tall either) and was just... rude. if she had been nice, we would have waited for a table, no problem, but her attitude just turned us away from the place so much that we went and found another spot close by instead. read more

This is by far the best Italian food ever. I always come here for my cheat meals. Italian sausage and Burrata and Prosciutto.

Definitely a welcome addition to the neighbourhood for sit-in and take out. Came here for dinner with my sister on Wednesday night. We decided to sit at the bar so there was no wait, but coming with a group of 3+ I think there would have been a 15 minute or so wait. We each had a drink, and split the ricotta spinach pizza and both salads (arugula & parm, and greens with chick peas, walnuts etc). Bill came to $32 each which I felt was reasonable as the pizza is a good size to split between two (for instance, it's bigger and doughier than pizza farina which I think is too small to split between two). Will absolutely be heading back again. read more

I wish yelp could give zero star! I called Nook around 5:30pm today asking if they accept take out but I just wanted to pick it up at 8pm because I was going to receive some friends at home. They said I could order it now and it would be ready in 15min (that means before 6pm). Then I asked if it would be better to call at 7:30pm so I could pick it up at 8pm. They said that if I call at 7:30, it will take longer to prepare the pizza since they will be quite busy, but they can do it. So here I was at 7:30pm. My friends were on the way to my place and I called them to order the pizza. What happened? Nobody answered. Just got a voice message saying they do not accept take out at that time. I tried to call many times and still ends up on the voice message. THANK YOU, NOOk! You said I could order pizza at 7:30pm but you guys don't even accept calls at that time! I had to find a place in the last minute to order a good pizza. That experience was enough for me to not try this place again. Shame on you. read more

First time in Kits & a friend recommended. We sat at the community table with our backs to the door, so the people watching wasn't great :). We had the Gnocchi, the first pasta & the Rigatoni- all were very good & so was the service! Loved the vibe & would definitely come back. read more

Amazing and always has been. Have been here a number of times this past year and each time i'm impressed. The food is always really good. The service staff is genuine and caring. Honestly some of the best pasta (for the price range) that I've ever had in Vancouver.

This was our fifth visit to Nook. We had read the reviews about the bad attitude of the wait staff but until tonight had not experienced it. We were a party of eight. Three arrived as the rest were parking but when we asked for a table for eight we were told we had to wait for the rest of our party before we could be seated. When we said the others were just paying for parking the snippy young lady said it is Saturday night you know. It was 5 p.m and there was one other table occupied. Once seated we ordered several courses and when we said we needed tongs for a pasta dish the waitress literally threw the tongs at the bowl and marched off. It was amazing the bowl didn't break. The food is great but we will never return. There are so many great places to eat in this city who needs to have a night out ruined by such bad attitude. The management really needs to be on top of their wait staff but maybe as they say it's from the top down. Customers do deserve a certain level of respect. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told none were available. Really? On this BUSY Saturday there is no manager available. read more

I was lucky to be invited to the opening event earlier this year, and tasted pizza and pasta samplings resplendent with ANCHOVIES - yes anchovies - OK in Salade Nicoise, but not in aforementioned. Everything else I tasted was middle of the road. However, I had the great misfortune to order out a Margherita pizza - OMG. They use tinned tomatoes and therefore it was really soggy in the middle! I think I paid $16 for a soggy mess. I live opposite and they are always busy so I imagine location, location and location. People don't mind anchovies and tinned tomato pizza!!! Lyn p.s. I agree with Andy their male manager is horrible, so horrible that I will never cross the street to go there again. Apparently their down town rest is truly a 'nook' and wonderful. Nice addition to Yew street in Kits. Casual, with a nice bar and friendly service, great food and good wine selection. The burrata and proscuitto appie was delicious, with just enough olive oil and sea salt to make the flavour and texture of the cheese shine. Delicious olives, and the thin crust pizza is wonderful. Agreed that the prices are not cheap, but the food is good quality and the service is warm. read more

Love Nook. I find the atmosphere very different from their Denman location, and I think it is a combination of the space and people dining there. Denman location reminds me of "Cheers" where everyone knows you and you can sit at the bar and chat with complete strangers and it is not awkward. Kits is more your typical establishment. both have similar menu's and food is great. we bring friends here all the time that have never been and all come back on their own. wine selection is Italian. all great. and if you don't like it, tell the bar and they'll recommend a different one (they usually let me try them first). gnochhi with baby meatballs and basciola are my pasta favs. burrata procuitto tomatoes appie. procuitto arugula pizza. panacotta desert. BTW, There are lineups, and you have to wait, and don't always get the exact seat you want... and guess what, it is busy for a reason. this is not the fault of the restaurant. read more

The food is excellent, I will give it that. The service leave MUCH to be desired. From the moment we walked in we felt like an inconvenience. We were ignored by our waittress the entire night. I wouldn't go back because of this. I can think of much better places to spend my money. read more

An unpleasant experience despite good food. After much hype we went to nook as a group of 6 on Thursday night. The food was tasty (Anchovy pasta was excellent - and I'm not a huge anchovy fan) although portions are not overly generous. 5 rotating beers on tap meant we had a nice drink to start before moving to their reds. The most disappointing part of the experience was the hoard of other customers waiting for a seat. In the style of Vij's, Nook allow waiting customers to have a drink inside until a table is available, however this means people are packed in all around existing diners. I would absolutely not go to Nook again, unless I could be guaranteed a seat in the half of the restaurant away from the door. With people standing on 3 sides of our table I felt like I was at a packed cheap pub not a nice restaurant. Disappointing experience overall. read more
