I have very good memories of this restaurant back when I first visited the Yaletown location! The BREAD was so good?! I highly recommend the Pasta con Funghi e Burrata al Tartufo. The creamy truffle burrata with mushrooms and chili garlic is absolutely delicious. The tiramisu for dessert is always a great way to end the meal. They also have a "Date Night" combo available for $155, that includes starters, pastas, and desserts, and a bottle of wine to share. The restaurant is small with a few tables inside and some outside. We ordered the: -Spaghetti Allo Scoglio (38$): If you enjoy seafood and "red" tomatoey garlicky pasta, this is the dish for you. -Pasta Al Pesto with Burrata (30$/22$ without Burrata): This was SO GOOD. The homemade pesto was DELICIOUS. The Burrata added a nice creaminess to it. The pistachios added a lovely crunchy nutty taste. The pasta was cooked Al dente. Yum! -Pappardelle "Roche Roche" -Daily Special (I think Pappardelle with mushrooms, guanciale, and truffle oil): This was (imo) the best dish. The truffle was sublime. The pasta was delicious and complimentary. The guanciale (along with sprinkling some of the parmesan provided on the table) added that extra bit of flavour/saltinnesss that would have been missing otherwise. Highly recommend this if you like truffle and carbonara, but want an elevated carbonara. Overall, all the pasta was delicious. The flavours were amazing. We were seated outside and it was a bit chilly, and it seems like there's not much room inside, so keep that in mind if you're thinking of coming. Had my favorites Burrata Caprese w/ heirloom tomatoes (shared this), and rigatoni al pesto as my entree which was topped w/ fresh burrata cheese. I'm new to Vancouver and I try to walk home from work a different way every night. After two weeks of being here with amazing sunny weather, the rain came to bless my walk home. I worked late tonight and was craving pasta on my way home. I decided to wonder the Yale Town neighborhood and saw this small Italian restaurant that didn't look crowded. I was able to get a seat right away and promptly ordered a glass of Chianti and glimpsed the menu. I was looking for a ragu so I ordered the pappardelle "Roche Roche". The dish was presented beautifully and the pasta was fresh and satisfying. For dessert, I ordered the Budino Al Cioccolato, and it was phenomenal. Very smooth, rich, and not too sweet. A cute, quaint and quality restaurant that has some of the best Italian food in town! I'm never disappointed with Robba Da Matti! I've been to both the yaletown and Gastown locations. Personally, I prefer the patio at Yaletown and the inside at Gastown. Initially, we were seated in the only empty spot (we had reservations, but I assume everyone else did also) which was, unfortunately, by the dishwasher and very warm - although it's worth noting it's the warmest time of the year. However, we gave it a chance, and our waitress was kind enough to move us to a better table outside the first chance she had! I didn't even ask, she was kind and we were grateful for the consideration. (Although, I would advocate that the cooks need more AC or relief from that heat.) The restaurant was busy and the staff still managed to provide wonderful and attentive service. The food was delicious - my personal favorite Italian in Vancouver. I like the gnocchi, so it's my go-to. Notably, Gastown didn't add pesto to my dish and Yaletown did, and it made a large difference. Beautiful and tender gnocchi, with creamy burrata and a light, fresh pesto. My husband prefers the spaghetti con cream di limone e gamberi over the carbonara. He felt the carbonara was ok, but lackluster (Very umami, but nothing to brighten it up.) The Panna cotta was fresh and creamy, I highly recommend giving it a try. Last night with my boys, looking for some decent Italian food. Headed into this hopping section of town and found this gem. The hostess seated us quickly and menus were distributed immediately. Restroom access is a little different, heading out of the restaurant and into a locked building with a key attached to a ladle but hey it worked. Good was good and solid but the ambiance is controlled by the crowd, ask for one of the few inside tables if you want to hold a conversation. read more

I assume 6 but some people on other review sites said that they were charged as a group of 5. I got the Pappardelle "Roche Roche". The ragu was supposedly slow cooked, but unfortunately it was bland. All I could taste just the tomato sauce, way overpowering. Tiramisu was disappointing, lack of yolk richness, lack of flavour. I had high hope for this place, but the food here is mid. It does have good ambience if you are trying to impress someone, but there are better places with better food around. Service was way too slow, took a while for the server to take our order. Decent Italian restaurant tucked in a residential street amongst condos and apt buildings. We were seated in their outdoor, covered, and heated patio. The inside of the restaurant is actually quite small, but the patio extension seats more people. Food wise, we were on a seafood trip and decided to order the tuna tartare and poached pears salad to start, then the lobster and crab ravioli and seafood spaghetti. All dishes tasted fine, but they weren't memorable. I was really hoping the lobster and crab ravioli would be tastier, but it was ok. Glad we tried this place though. Lovely restaurant to have some hearty Italian food. I came with a friend after work because i was craving some pasta and it was very cozey and sweet. I would love to come again with my boyfriend for a date night. For starters, we shared the beef carpaccio and it was really good! Would recommend if you like arugula (cause they really top it with quite a bit). The sauce is also quite lovely. For mains, I recommend getting the ragu, it was hearty, rich and warm. Not sure what else you could ask for from a ragu/red-sauce pasta. My friend got the cacio e pepe and she seemed to really like it but I thought it was just ok, I thought it could be creamier and i did consider taking a star off but it's not a bad cacio e pepe at all I'm just a harsh critic (I've also had cacio e pepe in Rome and that's just hard to beat). Our server was also incredibly kind and fun to have, I thoroughly enjoyed her service that night and she seemed knowledgable about the menu. Definitely would recommend to give it a try! read more

Food quality I would give 5 STARS, but for customer service I would give 2 STARS so the compromise is a 3 STAR review as I hate to slander great locations I visit. This trip to Vancouver BC I experienced 3 very unpleasant interactions with service workers, and very bland and inconsiderate attitudes. Somewhat even ugly. Don't know if it's just the season, people having a bad day, or some other weird vibe in the air. My issue here was table placement and the attitude towards moving us to a more comfortable table. We chose to sit on the patio and the table they provided was in the middle of of the section. Due to traffic of the server, they asked me to sit next to my wife rather than across from here, which made for an uncomfortable dining experience, as her knees were pushed into mine. When a table next to us became available, I asked if we could move there, which wouldn't have been difficult at all. The waitress said she needed to ask the manager. When she returned she said "unfortunately I can't move you there because we have another reservation coming in in 15 mins". My response to her was "can you give them this table?". She said "no, because they have a reservation". I said to myself and my wife "well we had a reservation as well". My issue here is that we had the most uncomfortable table in the entire restaurant and she wasn't willing to do anything about it. Her attitude was very uncaring about our comfort, and the weird placement of this table. I feel as though she made no attempt to accommodate us, even when there was an option available. It was fine for us to sit there, but not a party arriving after us, even after we made it clear we weren't happy with this seating arrangement. The food was excellent, the vibe was great, and the location was very convenient. Great place for a date as long as you don't get the table we got. Would definitely return for the food, but hoping for a better customer service experience. Italian restaurant's are supposed to be intimate, and seating, vibe, decor, and other elements contribute to that, so terrible seating placement can ruin an entire experience, especially when dining with your lady. We went to dine out for dinner last night and had a terrible experience here. First of all, we made a reso online but didn't get a confirmation so we had to call just to make sure they got the reservation. We also didn't get a text reminder to confirm our reso. We were a few mins late to our reservation, we had to wait outside for at least half an hour before anyone acknowledged us and then when the hostess finally came out, she proceeded to let us know that she sat people at 7:30pm and that we were not on time for our reservation. We felt like we were being scolded like children. Because we were late the system automatically cancelled our reservation and then we had to wait almost an hour to be seated now. The air conditioner was also broken so it was very warm in the restaurant. And then of course when we ordered our dine out set menu, by the time we got to dessert they only had tiramisu left. There was only one hostess/server, one person washing dishes and one cook. Needless to say, not the best experience at this location and probably the worst customer service we've ever had. read more

Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 2.5/5 Food: 3.5/5 Overall: 4/5 I have been coming to Robba da Matti for years now and used to have a great opinion of it that's slowly diminished over time unfortunately. As for ambiance, their inside portion is quite small and the kitchen is an open kitchen so it smells strongly like pasta ingredients (mostly garlic) and your clothes/hair will likely smell like that when you leave. The patio portion is nice to sit in and can be covered on rainy or cold days. The service definitely fell flat for me each time I went; the staff seem to be quite selective with which tables they pay attention to so we found that lots of time would go by with no check (both when we were wanting to order and pay) so we had to flag down the staff ourselves with difficulty. As for food, while the pasta is good, there are lots of amazing pasta spots in the city at a comparable price point so sadly it's a tough competition that I don't think Robba da Matti would make my list of top 5 for, personally. Overall, I like that you can make reservations here and if someone I knew really wanted to come I would go along with them but I wouldn't suggest going here if an Italian craving hit read more

Friend from Toronto came back for a quick visit so we had a girls reunion dinner. We ordered bread ($6) and the burrata caprese salad for the table to share. Three of the girls decided to share a bottle of white. I decided to try something new and got the spaghetti al pesto and burrata. The spaghetti is definitely fresh and was cooked well a la dente style. The burrata was good but the pesto didn't really hit the spot for me even with all the cheese. I didn't finish the pasta and didn't want to bring it home - a first for me. Most of the table ordered the four cheese gnocchi and seemed to really enjoy it. One of the girls ordered spaghetti allo scoglio (seafood) which looked good and what I wish I would have ordered instead. It took over three tries for the restaurant to get us our correct receipts and even then mine wasn't correct but the girls and I worked it out amongst ourselves. With so many great pasta joints in the city, I am not sure if I would come back. read more

Came here for a Friday night out with the girls. The server was super lovely and helpful in making sure we had everything we need. We got RISOTTO AI FUNGHI, PAPPARDELLE "ROSCHE ROSCHE", and SPAGHETTI ALLO SCOGLIO. I find the risotto a little too salty otherwise everything is very delicious and yummy! I particularly like the chewy texture of the pasta noodles. My favourite of the three would be the pappardelle "roaches rosche" because the seafood pasta was unexpectedly spicy. I had the lavender crème brûlée for dessert but I'm a little disappointed as it wasn't as delicate as I hoped it to be. The lavender flavour is distinctive but the caramelized top was a little too thick. The custard was smooth but standard. Overall I will definitely come back again. The seating inside could get pretty warm with all the cooking but the patio seats are nice and cool in the evening. read more

I was shocked by my experience here given how many positive reviews this place had. I felt the service and food didn't live up to my expectations, and I don't see myself returning. We had the gnocchi and the seafood spaghetti. In terms of food, I thought the food was okay, definitely not the best Italian food I've ever had. I wish the gnocchi had been just a tad softer, and definitely did not understand what the burrata or arugula added to the dish (this part may be a personal preference). Pastas are around $22-30 which is fairly typical for this type of place in Vancouver. My problem here was more with the service, or lack of service I should say. It may have been a one off night, but I felt the service wasn't typical of Yaletown. I wanted to use the Yelp check in offer for a free dessert and was told that I couldn't because "the manager was not in and I didn't call ahead." As far as I can tell, there's nothing in anyone else's reviews about needing to call ahead to use the Yelp check in offer at the end of your meal. We ended up not ordering dessert here after this strange interaction. Overall, not my favorite Italian place by any standards. I think this city has better. read more

The server kept all guests calm consider it was a busy Saturday night. We started with BURRATA CAPRESE. Did you know the burrata mozzarella is flown directly from Puglia? We order this appetizer every time, so good. The burrata is so fresh, smooth and light, almost like cottage cheese consistency. It's so good with slices tomatoes, basil and greens. Entrees: -LOBSTER & CRAB RAVIOLI - wow! This was a decedent dish. I had a bite of this and was an exciting bite! I would order their next time. - PAPPARDELLE "ROSCHE ROSCHE" - my dish was delicious! I've celebrated two occasions at Robba da Matti in the past couple months and enjoyed delicious meals both nights. We shared staples Prosciutto & Burrata and Beef Tenderloin Carpaccio to start. These were great share plates, ample for three but kept us wanting more. The accompanying bread was also soft and fresh. Next we ordered Spaghetti alle Vongole, Gnocchi Quatro Formaggi, and Risotto alla Pescatora and Lobster & Crab Ravioli. Pastas were al dente, not overseasoned, and each dish tasted different from the other. We were surprised by the sweetness in the Ravioli from the tomatoes and the hint of spice in the Spaghetti. There was also ample seafood in the light Risotto. The only dish we did not care for was the gnocchi, as the sauce was watery and creamy but slightly grainy at the same time. A nice highlight on both visits was our service by the lady who runs it. She was so wonderful and made everyone feel genuinely welcome in the restaurant. We celebrated our good friend's birthday here yesterday, We each ordered a pasta and I got to try some seafood spaghetti and it was the perfect texture = al dente. I had the shrimp and crab ravioli. The flavour was outstanding and the shrimp were really fresh. The crab filling was generous and tasty. We also had the prosciutto and burrata and it is another wow dish. The prosciutto was aged perfectly, great texture and not overly salty. The burrata was soft yet slightly chewy. It was so fresh. I forget to mention the bread, it was just a accompaniment but yum. Great thin crust. Get the Tiramisu! It was delish. We also had the chocolate mousse. The service was delightful and the team was attentive, friendly and unpretentious. We had theatre night at the Stanley Theatre and this was close enough to hit before our 8pm show. What a treat! This small, unassuming but authentic Italian restaurant is perfect for a night out, special romantic dinner or if you're craving homemade pasta. The service was excellent, be sure to make reservations. The seating is tight, but it's dim and romantic so we didn't notice other tables much. We were seated with olives to start and ordered Aperol spritzers. We got the 'date night' deal even though it was us girls. It includes 2 appies, 2 entree pastas, 2 desserts and a bottle of wine for $122. And we were soooo full! I couldn't finish my pasta and we didn't mange to finish the dessert. But it was sooooo delicious! We shared the burrata caprese, and bruschetta with prosciutto to start, pasta scoglio and 'house' ragu for mains and Tirimisu and Panna cotta for dessert. Both appetizers were so delicious and packed with flavour. I'm a huge burrata fan and this imported Italian one is amazing and sooo creamy! The bruschetta was fresh, with prosciutto, Gorgonzola cream and pine nuts, with a touch of honey! Such great melding flavours. The pastas are freshly made every day and you can taste the difference, perfectly al dente. With fresh seafood and tons of garlic, I was sooo happy. I was so full, that by the time the desserts came, I don't think I was able to fully appreciate them. But they were amazingly creamy soooo yummy. The panna cotta had a fresh berry coulis and the Tirimisu tasted so much like coffee and cream, it was the perfect dessert combo! I would recommend taking two hours to eat if you want to really enjoy everything as we only had 1.5 hours and it wasn't quite enough time. Cute little Italian restaurant in Yaletown. It's a small restaurant with limited interior seating and a small patio. One server, one bartender and two chefs. The server was friendly and brought us a little bowl of olives and a few slices of bread while we were deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the burrata caprese, pappardelle and carbonara. The burrata was so creamy and light, drizzled with olive oil and the Roma tomatoes and arugula always pair perfectly to cut the richness... but who doesn't enjoy a big hunk of fresh cheese? The pappardelle is a standard pasta dish with braised beef, and it was solid here and so tasty! The Italian sausage was a nice addition, adding a different flavour and texture to the dish. I'm a sucker for carbonara and usually order it if it's on the menu, it's a simple dish that's so comforting - cheese, egg, cured meat, pepper. When it arrived I was a bit surprised by how much liquid there was on the plate, but hey maybe just a bit of extra pasta water or egg mixture. The sauce was a bit thin due to extra liquid, but the biggest issue for me was an off taste to the sauce. I'm not sure if it was an additional spice added or the cheese used, but I was unfortunately not a fan. Overall a decent pasta place with reasonable prices. Would recommend the burrata and pappardelle, but don't get the carbonara. read more

If you're looking for FRESH pasta, then come here!!! It's so al dente, perfectly cooked oof. I really liked their carbonara, it was a flavour I haven't had at all. Like wow. I really liked their pesto too, it was so thick and rich. Such a cute date spot or even getting wine with your friends! read more

So, my boyfriend and I have a traditional date night every week to keep the sparks alive! Every week, we try new places, enjoy ourselves with a drink in hand and lots of laughs making memories in between. We came across this place on one rainy day and we are glad we did! Though, on a Friday night it would be quite packed! We were waiting for more than an hour; hungry and restless. We should have reserved earlier! That was a big regret, but seeing as it was fate, we couldn't complain. We were just happy to have gotten in on the waiting list. Once we were seated, the drinks came out quick! We toasted to our new discovery! Hungry and curious, we decided to order an appetizer and share mains. It was delightful! Brought me right back to Italy! The food was very much worth the wait! The staff were very friendly and made some really nice choices for us! Even while just looking back at the photos, my mouth is watering! The dining experience was wonderful! We were surprised we gobbled the food down so quick! We wanted to order more to go, but since we were seated at 9 pm it was too late! We will be back! Delicious, romantic, and relaxed with friendly and attentive staff and chef. We had the pear salad and the gluten free pesto pasta. The poached pear salad was exquisite -the pears were juicy, the balsamic dressing tangy and sweet, slivered almonds, fresh lettuces and yummy burrato cheese. The pesto was perfect. The wait staff were delightful and the chef was friendly. A cool bonus-it was all women working. It was really amazing to be in a restaurant run by women!!! We loved it! I finally got to try Robba da Matti after hearing so much about it from friends. I'm so stumped on why it's taken me so long to try this little gem but I'm happy I finally did because we had such a great time and enjoyed the food soo much. We got to try this place during Dine Out and what better way to try out a new restaurant? Such a great deal and gives us an opportunity to try more of their menu. For $49 you can't go wrong. Our experience here was amazing and it started off with being seated at the best seat in the house (in my opinion). Our table was soo cute and I just loved that it was next to a cute little tree and secluded, slightly away from the rest of the crowd. Then came the food and we were blown away by the quality. Truly an amazing meal and I can't wait to come back to try more of their dishes. 100% would recommend. LOBSTER & CRAB RAVIOLI Take a look at this portion.. MASSIVE raviolis filled with sooo much lobster and crab. These raviolis were incredibly decadent, delicious and cooked perfectly al dente. The shrimps on top were massive and juicy - they definitely didn't skimp out on their portion sizes! The tomatoes tasted so incredibly fresh and sweet. I'm drooling again as I write this. AAA BEEF CARPACCIO Everything about this plate was spot on and freaking delicious. Not sure how they did it but they DID it. The beef was incredibly fatty, thin and soo soft. I really loved the sauce, the arugula, olive oil and cheese with the beef and it tasted even better with their bread. Best carpaccio i have ever had and I NEED to get this again when I come back. It's the best beef carpaccio that I've ever had, hands down. LAVENDER CRÈME BRÛLÉE Lavender flavored creme brulee. It tasted very fragrant. It was actually too sweet for my palate and the creme brulee itself was a bit too liquid-y for my liking but it was still a great way to end the meal. read more

I would recommend making reservations early with limited seated as this specific location is quite small. As a picky eater, i really enjoyed my experience. All the food we ordered was rich in flavour and the quality of their ingredients were so fresh and authentic. Their Burrata cheese is imported from Italy. The highlight of my experience was their Burrata Caprese dish, they offer extra bread if you ask. The pappardelle had a nice texture and their beef sauce did not leave the dish feeling dry. I would definitely come back just to have both these dishes again and again. Their servers are all very friendly and took the time to explain each dish to us, and offered their recommendations. Somethings that affected my experience was the wait time for each dish took a little long (roughly waited 20 minutes for our mains). This was because they only have 2 chefs working in their small kitchen - but worth the wait for the food. Overall, I highly highly recommend this restaurant.
