Insincere servers fishing for tips We showed up for lunch. The place looked nice. The hostess said the tables in the covered patio were reserved but the group won't be coming for an hour so we can eat there if we want but we have to leave before the bigger party gets there. She recommended we sit further away on hard uncomfortable seats in the wind. What the heck? It was uncomfortable then another waitress with light brown hair came by and said "is there a problem?" I said "we would prefer to sit in the covered patio" She said it was okay but kind of made kind of a big deal about it. Treating me like I was being difficult when actually I was very polite considering how they were treating us. Reminding us repeatedly that a larger more important party is coming in an hour and treating us like we were a burden. It honestly just seemed like the servers are only thinking only about their tips and not wanting to serve a small family. She ignored our table the whole time. I didn't get any Parmesan. Because she never stopped to ask how the meal was. The server had someone bring the food. It wasn't even busy. She just didn't care. Our server basically did nothing but avoid us. The only time she was remotely friendly was when she handed my spouse the bill. Obviously fishing for tips. She asked what we are going to do after this and as I answered she looked away like she couldn't give an F. These bad servers need to go. Bad service always ruins a business. Oh it's been a while where I feel I don't know where to start. My partner and I went back to ill Posto after two years. We had a poor experience there before. That said tonight was worse. Literally the worst service, by some pre pubescent girl in cut jeans shorts. We watched her walk empty handed back and forth while we and others waited for everything from the appy to desert and coffee. The pizza was dry the Lasagne was out of a can Im sure! Really how hard is it to make good lasagne? I sat there pinning to be across the road at Niagra where the food and service although not 5 star is miles ahead of Ill Posto. The place was busy but I have know clue why. The menu is limited the prices are high for what it is. Try the Pink Pepper Corn in Vancouver for far better food and similar prices!!! read more

I recently visited this cozy Italian spot on a Friday evening, and it was packed! clearly a local favorite. The portions are quite generous for the price so you definitely get value for your money. The salad was tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. Everything was fresh but seemed like something I could probably whip up at home. The buttara was delicious. Walked into the restaurant from the drizzling rain knowing I wanted Italian food. The hostess asked me if I had a reservation, I said "no, I read on Yelp that you didn't take reservations between 5 pm and 7 pm". She told me that Yelp followers may sometimes write inaccurate info. Needless to say, she sat us at a nice table but asked us to be mindful of time since she had a Reso coming in at 7 pm. I told her it all depended on how fast her server could bring food. We ordered the meatballs and baked focaccia to start. Both were delicious. We also ordered the classic pizza and the Bolognese rigatoni. Both were delicious. At the end of the meal, we ordered tiramisu. I was pleasantly surprised by how light and fluffy the tiramisu was. The overall experience was great our server Shereene was equally awesome. My mother said she didn't like the Restaurant before we entered stating that the food was bland and didn't taste very good . It was interesting as my mother took comments from my sister-in-law who had tried this place out and influenced my mother's opinion without my mother actually eating the food. We had made a reservation for 6:15pm for my daughter's birthday. Arrived on time. Food was not bad. The evening started off ok with our server. However, 1h15m into our meal, we were caught by surprise when another server came holding a credit card machine waiting for us to pay, even though 2 people in our party were still working on their desserts. They were fully aware that we were celebrating a birthday. We didn't have any form of payment lying out nor did we ask for the bill. We paid even though we weren't ready to leave yet, and then a couple minutes later, another server randomly came to pick up our clean napkins even though the dessert wasn't done. We felt like they were trying to rush us to leave. I understand that it's a Saturday night and can be busy, but we had only been sitting for 1h15m at the time. Went to Il Posto with 2 other couples. I know it's popular so reservations were made. They do not accept reservations between 5 and 7pm. There is always a wait even at 7pm that we had our reservations for. We were on the inside in a small room along with other tables. Still very noisy but not enough to shout. That is because this is a very popular restaurant. The food was very good and everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. At the table the marinated Sicilian Olives were ordered even though he did not like olives he found these absolutely delicious. Caesar salads were had by three of us and the romaine was crispy and not flooded with sauce. The baked focaccia was perfect . Main courses were wild prawn linguine - lots of prawns. Meatballs were huge and there were three of them. 2of us shared a pizza. The have a real pizza oven heated by wood fire. The smell emanating from the cooked pizzas made your moth water in anticipation. The last dish was Gnocchi Bolognese. Three of us tried it and all loved the taste of it. Il Posto is ok. I wouldn't say it's authentic Italian, but decent for the area. Ladner needs more restaurants but this place has been a miss for me. I've gone three times (my sister LOVES it). Service is really good, prices are pretty steep for the quality of food, and the location is excellent! My first time, I tried their Bianca e Verde pizza (bechamel, pecorino, caramelized onion, roasted garlic, spinach, mushroom, fontina, and parm aioli). It was definitely the best dish I've had from there. The crust was chewy and the toppings were not too heavy. I also tried I've had their Baked "Mac and Cheese" (serpentini, alfredo, roasted cauliflower, spinach, green onion, Italian cheese blend, and herbed bread crumb). The dish sounded unique and "healthy" but lacked any real flavor. I went home and doctored it up which was better. Definitely a huge portion but not quite hitting the mark. Last time, I went with the classic Marg pizza. Again, just ok. The sauce, a huge component to this simple dish, was missing depth. Again, no wow factor. I think its worth a try given the limited options in the town, but definitely not a place I would go back to. read more

First time coming and it took them about 40 min for our food to come, the ambience of this restaurant is quite nice and the lighting is good. I love how creative and flavourful their options are. We had - Sundried Tomato Tapenade Bruschetta (9$) : So yummy! The sundried tomatoes tasted fresh (well, as fresh as sun dried tomatoes can taste ) and very flavourful. Very refreshing. Served on 4 smallish pieces of bread. - Pollo e Pancetta Pizza (20$) : Probably my favourite item. The balsamic reduction was an amazing addition/touch; the slight acidity helped cut through the bread beautifully. The saltiness of the Pancetta helped add flavour to the chicken, creating a nice balance. Overall an extremely flavourful and well-balanced pizza. My only suggestion to improve it would be to roast the pistachios!! Would've added a lot more flavour and a better texture in my opinion. - Patata (19$) : definitely a heavier pizza. The flavour was good; almost like a pizza version of carbonara. - Frittata (daily special) : So much more flavourful than a regular Frittata. The pickled red onions were a great addition, and I thoroughly enjoyed the butternut squash and cauliflower that were in it (bc they were roasted!!). - Rigatoni a la Bolognese (daily special) : wasn't the biggest fan; felt like the sauce could've had more meat/ flavour / was a little bit watery in my opinion. - Tiramisu (10$) : didn't taste the alcohol at all thank goodness. AMAZING. DELICIOUS. Perfectly soaked in coffee (unfortunately have had one too many experiences with insufficiently soaked ladyfingers, but was not the case here). The layers were an incredible touch. Once again though; would strongly suggest for the pistachios to be roasted. This is a great spot in a quaint cozy part of Ladner. The restaurant follows Covid-19 regulations well. The tables are spaced out, there's hand sanitizer as you enter and the menu is via Q-code scan. I ordered the squash, ricotta kale pizza and a friend ordered the mushroom pizza topped with arugula. Both pizzas were tasty and had that great texture of dough cooked in an open oven. $18 for a six-piece pizza. We also ordered an olive & chickpea appetizer. There is a good selection of red, white and bubbly wine as well as other drinks. The wines go for about $10 a glass, which is comparable to most places. However, it's nice to get those specials, whether it's happy hour or just a drink on special. The service is good as staff is attentive and regularly checks up on the table. I came in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, right at their 2pm opening, and dined with a party of three others. Almost an hour or two later, the place was bustling with hungry guests as my friends and I were finishing up our food. Now I understand why. Some notable menu items: 1) The meatballs - an absolute must! For $9.00/order, you get three expertly-crafted beef meatballs, served in a shallow pool of the most humble tomato sauce, and a stick of bread on the side, toasted to perfection. Each of the four of us had one order each. Had we only ordered a few to share, I surely would have asked for more. It was absolutely delicious. A fantastic appetizer to start the meal. 2) The pizzas - my table of four shared three pizzas: the Hawaiian, the Butcher Block, and the Pollo e Pancetta. Individual compositions of mythical proportions that, on their own, no doubt would have paired seamlessly with any other combination of pizzas on the menu. Each pizza had a thin, but perfectly airy and tasteful crust which reminded of Fresh Slice, but elevated tenfold. My fellow diners and I loved all three, but my personal favourite was the Pollo e Pancetta - perfectly seasoned as if by the gods themselves, topped with succulent chunks of chicken that paired beautifully with elements of nuts and caramelized onion. The pesto sauce brought everything together in a blanket of comfort which would sooth any distraught soul. After all was done, the bill came out to about $30.00/person, happy hour drinks included. A decent price for food of this calibre; I would be happy to pay the same price again. Currently, they are not serving pasta on their lunch menu anymore so I will have to come back for dinner. Reservations highly recommended especially for dinner time as I've heard it gets quite popular with the locals in the evening. You won't regret paying a visit to Il Posto. Highly recommended. Found this little place on the way to the bird sanctuary in this cute little town in Ladner. Super clean and neat atmosphere and friendly staff. We ordered the eggs benny - one ham and one veggie and they were fantastic. The veggie one actually stole the show. The potatoes were tasty and there was refreshing greens on the side. I had a Caesar which was pretty basic but good. Standard pickled asparagus garnish. We ended up coming back a few hours later to try their pizza! Sadly they were on a happy hour set menu from 230-430 and you can only order a select few items. We opted for the margherita pizza and marinated olives. I wish the olives were served warm but they were still good. The pizza was good too but I wish I could have tried their fungi one. This is a small casual Italian bistro in Ladner. It was very busy on Saturday night when we were there. We did have reservations and I think that you would require reservations on the weekend. The service was very good. Our server was efficient and we were well taken care of. It was very loud as the music was really cranked up. Music should provide nice background music not be so loud that you cannot have a conversation with your companions. I asked our server if the volume of the music could be adjusted. She said that she would ask the manager and they very graciously did adjust the volume. As others have mentioned the menu is very small. We shared a Brooklyn pizza and while it was small it was very good. We really liked the crust. We also shared the wild prawn linguine. While the prawn linguine was decent it was a bit bland. I could not really taste the sun dried tomatoes. For dessert we shared the gelato. This is supposed to be 3 scoops but they are very small scoops. For $7.00 you don't even get the amount of ice cream you would get on a kid size cone at Baskin Robbins. It was a nice evening and we enjoyed ourselves but overall with the small serving sizes of the gelato and pizza and the prawn linguine it is unlikely that we would return. read more

My friend recommended this place so we came here for dinner. We had the Brooklyn pizza and I was expecting a thinner crust but the pizza was still tasty and the crust had a nice chew to it. We also shared the spaghetti alla amatricianni and I thought it could've used a tad more seasoning but the piece of foccacia bread that came with it was delicious! Lastly we couldn't help but get two desserts. The cheesecake was the special of the day and came with whipped cream, berry compote, and a dulce the leche sauce that was so good! The texture of the cheesecake was super soft and creamy and it didn't taste as heavy as a typical NY cheesecake. The tiramisu was also very light and it was a great way to end the meal. This is a great treasure in Ladner! Love the decor, very cozy! Lots of street parking. The service was not great, took the server a good solid 10 -15 minutes to first approach our table and was slow after that. The food was good. Pasta was cooked well, we ordered the special which was a tomato pesto with Italian sausage. Also ordered the Butcher block pizza as well as the Italian sausage pizza. The crust is nice and thin, toppings were great. My only issue would be the arugula on the Italian sausage, normally it is put on top after the pizza is cooked. They seemed to put it on and cook it? Not what I'm used to. it was ok but would have been better put on top as a fresh topping. read more

Very happy we finally tried this place! My husband and I have very different tastes and we both loved our meals. With us and our son we had the meatball appy, ricotta bruschetta, panzanella salad, chicken Parmesan, and spaghetti Bolognese. We liked it all! Servers were friendly and attentive and we'll definitely be back. My only thought/complaint.....There's two single person washrooms available. Both with toilet, no urinal, yet are marked M and W. I already thought that was ridiculous (why must they be gender specific? They're exactly the same!), but it got worse when I realized the women's washroom was women's because it's the one with the change table. It's 2021 Il Posto. Does that say enough? :-) Well, to be fair my mom lives in Tsawwassen (next town over) and Il Posto is a place we like to frequent together, but mom or not, I would drive out from the West End because it's THAT good. The food, atmosphere, and the staff are all top-notch - truly. They have a lot of staff so the level of service is exceptionally personal as well. I'm moving towards a vegan diet and while some things can be adjusted to be vegan easily enough, I'd love to see specific vegan options on the menu, particularly as the vegan trend is on the rise fast now! I have been here several times and have ordered takeout even more times. I don't love this place, it's just a good place and better than most in Ladner. I would rather drive out of Ladner than eat here but this is as good as it gets in Ladner. The service is meh. The pizzas have more crust then centre topping...literally half the pizza is "crust" and a teeny tiny portion of the middle is the toppings. It does change sometimes but more often than not we get a "crusty" pizza. The giardino pizza is the worst. There is no description saying there are raisins...yes raisins on the pizza. Apparently its "caponanta" but not even that term is listed on the menu. The burrata which is the biggest heart breaker comes with so called "caponata" or tapenade now and it completely ruins the delicacy of burrata to the point that it's almost inedible. Dont waste your money and go buy some fresh at granville island and top it with olive oil s&p and save yourself the money here. Pastas are ok, better than the alternative in ladner across the street...you know if you know ;). This place is good for someone that doesn't venture out of Ladner for this type of food. But when you know what's good you'll head out of town and through the tunnel for it...even in traffic! read more
