Went with a large group to try out La Forchetta. They make their own pasta and are a few doors down from Sushi Giwa. We dropped in on a Thursday (12:45pm reservations). Busy with several other large parties. Entrees aren't cheap; pastas are $25.50 to $28.00, pizzas $18.00 to 25.00. No lunch specials offered. - Bread ($4.00/basket) - they'll ask if you want bread but don't mention the price. Comes with an olive oil and balsamic dip. - Calamari ($22.00) - not worth the price tag. - Bruschette miste ($15.00) - pickled eggplant, mixed olives and mortadella. The mortadella was the best piece but such a tiny portion. - 2x Pallotte cacio e uovo ($14.00) - fried cheese and egg ball. Was told it was salty. - Paccheri pistacchio ($28.00) - pasta was al dente and the sauce well balanced. Plenty of Italian sausage. - Prosciutto e rucola ($25.00) - nothing particularly memorable about their pizza. - Tiramisu ($12.00) - light and creamy. Only detected the smallest hint of marsala wine. If you try LF, skip the appetizers and stick with the pasta.

I'd give this place 3.5 if I could. The appetizers are amazing!! We had the octopus and the buratta salad. Both were so great and memorable. The mains are ok, but more disappointing after the amazing appetizers. The quality of the pasta was good, but the flavours overall were mediocre. Liked their tiramisu dessert though!

Cute modern but cosy restaurant. Friendly people. Been wanting to go for a long time but due to Covid-19 we had to postpone our dinner. Finally managed to try it out and we had a lovely time. Not rushed in any way so it was lovely to enjoy it to the max. Food was very nice and we will definately be back.

Eva was an amazing server and the bartender was quite impressive!! The whiskey sours they made was one of the best, and introduced my mom to it! We loooved it and ordered another round! The food was great and we finished it completely!! Couldn't have asked for a better dinner! I swore to myself that I wouldn't eat dinner again, but it was too good to pass! Thank you guys!!!!

So excited for the fresh pasta! We shared the Prosciutto pizza as the starter, then the calamari skewers, spaghetti vongole Maltagliati La Forchetta. My least favorite was the calamari skewers, the calamari was not as charred as it was described, it was only slightly grilled. There were a few prawns and tomatoes on a bed of arugula( $20), not worth the price The pasta tasted Al dente but could use a bit more sauce. The dish is smaller, so be prepared to share more items, or save room for dessert! The pizza was my favorite, it was crispy but not oily, and not too doughy. The Prosciutto was sliced and added on after the crust is baked. I would return to try the entrees next time

Friendly staff but like authentic Italian they can be fashionably forgetful and slow paced. Just the right sized menu nothing crazy but not too small. Unfortunately they ran out of dough that night so we didn't get to try their pizza. Their pasta was tasty and my friends really enjoyed it. I liked the flavour but as I got through half way on mine, it got a bit heavy for me. Their meatballs are a MUST order. Wine is good and dessert was yummy too. Street parking around but we had to park a couple blocks away as it tends to be busy. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant but usually full. I do recommend making a reservation especially for table more than 2 people. I don't mind coming back if a friend wants to come back but it's also not a place I'd go out of my way and travel all the way for.

Pleasantly surprised by my culinary experience here - I thought it would be another average joe Italian restaurant, but turned out to be quite wonderful in terms of both the service and the food! I would recommend making a reservation for weekend evenings as it was quite busy and bustling when I went on a Friday night. COVID guidelines: I appreciated that the tables were nicely spaced out and plexi-glass was used throughout. Burrata (5/5) - $20 Taste: How can cheese, olive oil, and bread taste THIS good. Sometimes I still dream thinking about that fluffy cloud of cheese. Would recommend. Portion Size: Good to share between 2 people, only two pieces of bread though. :( Pappardelle (4/5) - $25 Taste: A great dish, the pasta was cooked al dente and the rose sauce was pretty good - only thing was that there was a tad too much sauce to pasta ratio. Portion Size: Good portion for 1 person. Frittura di Calamari (3/5) - $20 Taste: This was pretty standard nothing crazy, good but not amazing. Portion Size: Good to share between 2-3 people. [Value for Money] I grew up in the North Burnaby area, and it's great to see new restaurants popping up! What impressed me the most was when the chef came out of the kitchen and made his rounds around the tables to make sure everyone was enjoying the food. Decent prices for Italian food. Hands down would come again.

We have been here twice and both times the food was fresh and tasty. The maltagliati la forchetta and pappardelle are our favourites. Make sure you ask for their hot oil as well. Prices are fair and service was good.

    Papardelle was tasty!

Delicious Italian with a Gluten free option! The antipasto was wonderful and the service was fantastic! Vittorio was a great server and attentive to our every need! Really quaint, stylish restaurant and would highly recommend

It's meh for the price. For 23 dollars its just not worth it imo Servers r rly nice and attentive, food was a bit slow but that's ok. But it's very mediocre for 23 dollars for pasta and 5 slices of sausage. Atmosphere was also very cozy but it's just the pasta itself isn't something that special

Mood lighting and soft music, and nice white table Napkin service. For the price and quality of food..you can't go wrong here. Tons of free parking around too. The sauces weren't thick but light and right. The pasta however was not homemadeC except for the ravioli. The carbonara was a good copycat of the Roman carbonara, but with a bit cream. Nice sorta open kitchen concept, where you see the Italian maestro at work. Looks like an Italian grandpa to be honest. My fav dish was the seafood one with fish and shrimps. It was loaded with generous pieces and finished perfectly with a touch of white wine and vodka sauce. The pesto one was also good. Not too overpowering, with a touch of crème fresh. The burrata was also so good. Freshly made and complimented by a nice drizzle of olive and balsamic. Another winner is the house bread which you can keep in asking for. Hot off the oven and comes with olive oil/balsamic dip. So hearty and good. Service was efficient, although our server seems to be wanting to rush us. Constantly hovering and asking and taking plates away. I get it's the holiday season, but there were so many tables available. I like the location as it's not that far from DT and parking is safe and plentiful. Ambiance is like an old mafia restuarant where Gino is in the back and the soprano is eating right at the table next to you. Yes, i would repeat and try the other entrees. Cheers! Happy eating!
