As a group of five we recently dinned here for dinner. It seemed there was one wait staff for the establishment and they were unable to offer knowledge on the wine they offer. It was a special occasion-I had hoped for minimal input. Bruschetta was ordered and devoured. So tasty. Bread pieces that were panini grilled were brought to the table - they were better with the oil and vinegar already on the table. Our table had lasagna, cannoli(?), pizza, tortellini and a Caesar salad. Absolutely divine food. Some had tiramisu served in small Mason jars (I'm allergic to the egg custard). Oddly the three that came to the table disappeared quickly but without comment so I can't advise. The gelato I had a scoop each of - vanilla and Nutella were subtle but smooth. read more

Light, fresh, bistro type environment. I had mixed feelings about my experience. The atmosphere was lovely and inviting, creating a pleasant setting for dinner. Our server was kind and approachable, though they appeared preoccupied due to a wine event happening in the back area, which impacted the attentiveness of the service. I ordered the tortellini, which unfortunately arrived a bit cold and lacked flavor complexity. It felt one-note and somewhat boring, which was disappointing given the restaurant's reputation. Despite the nice ambiance, the combination of service distractions and the quality of my meal left me wanting more. Found this local establishment browsing through a city magazine. Seems to be a spot for locals. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the host and has if we had reservations. We did not, so instead of a table we got to sit at the bar which was perfect for my wife and I. Very casual atmosphere and not loud at all. Mixed crowd from older couples to families. Very welcoming. The bartender was very attentive and such a pleasure to speak with quickly making us feel like family. We both ordered a beverage and placed our food food. To start they bring out the Bread Basket. Our food arrived shortly after. We both ordered the same meal. Cannelloni fresh and homemade. We ordered the mix. You get three pieces one Spinach Cannelloni, one Chicken and Mushroom Cannelloni and one ricotta cheese in a creamy red sauce. The pasta was perfect. Expertly crafted as was the sauce. Was sad when I looked down and noticed the pasta was gone. I ate it all. Before leaving I ordered the tiramisu to go. So glad I did. You must try this restaurant if you're in the area. My husband and i were sitting down eating dinner when out runs a rat from the employees only door. We let our waitress know, both our appetites were completely spoiled. The owner comes over and said its the building, they have been having problems for awhile. Than he took 50% off our meal. Excuse me 50% are you kidding me, it should have been completely on the house. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. read more

disappointing tonight I ordered take out - lasagna, it was burnt, dry and tasted sour. I do not recommend ordering takeout - the kitchen staff seem like they want to get it out with no regard to customers who order out or to the quality of food being sent out. this is not the first time this has happened with take out. I ordered at 4:30 opening time and I was told it would be 15 minute... how can you heat something appropriately in that time frame. the accompanying bread wasn't even toasted. lets not even get into the extra cheese I asked for... Amazing! This food was delicious! It's a small place but the service is very friendly and welcoming. The margherita was so yummy and the cheese they used was perfect. The Cesar salad was full of flavor and pepper (I love pepper) we also got a "fettuccine Alfredo" they have it named differently but same plate. All was great. My new favourite place! I worked at a place called Boccavino in Calgary that was top notch food in a cozy seating space run by family and since I moved back I haven't found something similar in comparison out in Vancouver.... until now. Reservations are recommended on a weekend but give it a try and you may get lucky because turnover is fairly quick. I love everything about the menu - the choices, prices and end product. I inhaled the antipasto platter and bread they serve with oil and vinegar and then over ate my share of pizza. To top it off we ordered two tiramisu's which were delicious. The prices are perfect, they aren't over stated for food or liquor which IMO is the smart way to go. If things are overpriced, you end up ordering less of it while people tend to order more when it's decently priced which in turn equals more revenue anyways for the restaurant. The restaurant must had been hit by salt train. The service was fantastic but the food was way salty. White cream sauce was so salty. Red sauce was ok but still salty. Pizza was once again too salty. The sauce was good and the meat ball spaghetti would have been so perfect (pasta was done pefectly al-dente; but why why why make it salty. I've been here once before (about a year or so ago) and I wanted to bring my sister! She's a big pasta fanatic and we've been craving!! We ordered the antipasto platter which came with a variety of meat, cheese, garlic prawns, and pickled pepper and artichoke. Very delicious! For our mains I got a tagliatelle gamberoni which was prawns in a spicy tomato sauce - I absolutely loved it and would for sure order again! I don't remember the name of the dish my sister ordered but it was spaghetti noodles with chunks of tomato. It was good but I preferred mine. To finish it off we ordered the tiramisu and it was so good! Prices are very reasonable and great to go out during these times and help local restaurants. I think it was the one lady serving all 7 or 8 tables and she was doing great. Service was a bit slower towards the end but I really don't blame her! When my husband and I crave for some major carbs we know exactly where to go to satisfy our cravings quick! Our go to dishes are the Seafood Cannelloni +Lasagna alla Bolognese. The seafood cannellloni is one of the best, loaded with lots of crab meat! And all the extra leftover creamy tomato sauce is perfect for some bread dipping if you still need to top off with some more carbs! And the lasagna pasta is made with soiache as well which makes it extra unique! They were both super filling but made sure we had extra room for dessert too - tirimisu to be specific! We came here for a lunch date and the three of us split the caprese, a pizza, the lasagna, and a bottle of wine and it was the perfect amount of food. The pizza was flavorful and had a nice thin crust while the lasagna was perfectly cooked and came out sizzling hot! Love their food! Growing up with Italian cooking at home turned me into a snob when it comes to Italian food. I've been to The Golden Boot a half dozen times and have to say it's the real deal. I especially love their Tiramisu! The restaurant itself is open and airy with large windows, with enough coziness. Parking can be tight. Only thing is we've driven there three or four times only to find it closed. It seems if it's not one thing it's another. Last time they were closed due to electrical work the utilities company was doing on the sidewalk. I drove one hour from Bellingham only to find a sign on the window saying that they wou closed. We have been coming here since our kiddo was a preschooler and so only fitting to come to celebrate his high school grad. We invited a few family members to join us. The food and service was outstanding. The kitchen handled our party of 15 ordering individually perfectly. (We didn't want a set menu because we know there are so many delicious pasta dishes.) This place has excellent food, it is as simple as that. The hours of operation are like from 11:30 to 2:30, and then 5 to 9, as they aren't open throughout the day, but when you need comfort food, hit this hidden joint up. They make their pasta and sauces fresh from start. I can honestly say since I discovered this restaurant from the Entertainment book, that I have never had a bad meal here. I just came back having their lasagna, too bad I didn't take a picture, as this thing is delicious. The food gets in the way of me even thinking of taking pictures =). If you are in the neighborhood, definately stop by, and you will understand what fresh pasta taste like. read more

Finally got a chance to try this popular Italian eatery on one fine rainy day. It's located behind a Bank near Austin (no worries, plenty of parking infront of the restaurant) but this has been a local favourite for a long time. Even at lunch time, the place was busy but we were able to get a nice table right by the windows. The staff were friendly and attentive; I never saw the bottom of my coffee cup! We ordered bruschetta for starters and for lunch I ordered the gnocchi (the rest of my party ordered pasta.) While waiting for our lunch, the waitress brought us some incredibly fresh and still warm bread that I dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I had a great view of the bar TV showing Leo Messi score a goal during Champions League game (Go Barca!) And duh, I finally got what the restaurant's name is all about - the best European football player award! Our pastas arrived before our antipasto so we decided to just dig in. My gnocchi could have been a bit lighter but the creamy tomato sauce was what I would dream a nona would lovingly cook for her family on a cold, rainy day. I also reached over to taste my brother's penne a la vodka and that sauce was smooth and creamy with bits of salty pancetta to balance out the richness. It's a bit more expensive than our normal lunches but this place is worth it. The locals are right to be proud of this little place. Will definitely be back! read more

Italian home cooking at a restaurant; how can you go wrong? The Golden Boot is one of my go-to Italian restaurants because I live super close to it, and because it never does me wrong. My family loves the baked dishes, such as the lasagna and the cannelloni. However, my favourite dish, which I have had on numerous occasions, is the tortellacci with a creamy tomato sauce. The portions are always harry, and they serve fresh bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar to start. The pizza is pretty delectable, too. My family and I often share a caprese salad or spinach salad to start, which is always fresh. I enjoy the atmosphere of this restaurant. It has a real mom and pop feel to it. There are TV screens, often with either soccer or hockey on. The waitresses are friendly and gregarious and are always attentive. I highly recommend this place if you're in the Coquitlam hood. It's a nice change from pretentious, up-scale Italian restaurants. This place is super casual, but the food is like a fine dine. read more

Craving pizza and pasta and we heard good things about this place so we dropped by. It was very busy but only had to wait a few minutes for a table. We ordered the margarita pizza and tortellini stuffed with prosciutto and ham. The pizza was very good, crisp crust with lots of flavour. The pasta was unfortunately disappointing, very bland. However, portions are a good size. One thing to note when we asked for our bill the server decided to check her phone and we had to ask her again before she brought the bill. This place has always been here and I have always been meaning to try it. But finally came with bae a few nights ago when we were in a scramble after Pho Holiday down the road was closed. I must confess that I was not feeling well prior to this so I did not eat to my heart's desire like I normally would have. With this setback in mind (challenge accepted!), I still somehow managed to completely fall in love with the food that I did eat! First, we were served complimentary focaccia bread that was so perfectly spiced and herbed. We were given plates to pour olive oil and balsamic vinegar onto which just made the already delicious focaccia that much better. I love it when restaurants give you olive oil and balsamic vinegar as opposed to the standard butter! For dinner, I ordered a tortellini soup with handmade chicken broth. Technically, this is an appetizer and normally I would never order something like this but like I said, I was not feeling well. So I didn't have high expectations for this dish and yet it completely blew me away! The broth itself was perfectly seasoned, it had a subtle chicken taste while balancing saltiness and flavour. But the tortellini itself was the star of the dish. I'm not sure what the tortellini was filled with, it was some kind of meat, but it was also perfectly seasoned. Every bite into each little tortellini was so decadent. I'm actually salivating just thinking about it. That was pretty much all that I ate but again, it was just so good that even a simple, small, and seemingly unassuming dish like tortellini soup with handmade chicken broth knocked this one out of the park for me and earned an immediate 5 stars. Walked into an empty restaurant, but that wasn't a shock as they just opened for dinner service 15 minutes prior to my friend and I coming. The atmosphere was inviting and reminded me of being in an old Italian Villa. Our server was a very up beat woman named Manuela who appeared to loved what she was doing. She has been with the Golden Boot for almost 20 years and her multi tasking skills are unparalleled. I mentioned to her that its one of the best I've seen. We started with the complimentary bread, which came with a tangy balsamic dressing, and olive oil dip with a hint of spice to it. We decided to order Insalata Caprese, the special of the day pizza and Seafood Caneloni to share. The tomatoes were fresh and crisp, and the mozarella, smooth, the olives were tangy, all of which gave the salad a well balanced flavor. The pizza special was "bomb!" It had chicken, capers, artichoke, onions, spinach fior di latte and cheese topped with Caesar dressing. Manuela asked me and my friend what sauce we wanted even though we split the Seafood Caneloni. Went on their website to view the menu . Found that they serve paninis from 12:00-3:30. This was our first visit since Covid and we're super excited to eat here again. So we picked up our family and arrived at 3pm. when we went to order the waitress said " sorry we don't serve paninis past 3pm". My husband spoke up and said your website says 12-3:30. The girl just shrugged her shoulders and did not offer anything else or even ask the kitchen staff. As we were leaving the kitchen staff and waitress were laughing as it looked like they wanted to get back to th own lunch at a table. Very disappointed at the horrible customer service.
