Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing experience. We were seated almost immediately, but then waited over 15 minutes for someone to even bring us a menu. The atmosphere didn't help either. The interior was very dark and looked like it hadn't been updated or refreshed since the restaurant first opened 40 years ago. The restaurant was also extremely noisy--it was like being in a pub during a major sporting event. It was difficult to have a conversation, and at times, we could barely hear what our waitress was saying when she came to our table. It wasn't just the customers who were loud; a couple of the servers were also engaging in lengthy conversations with customers, adding to the overall noise level. Once we finally received our food, it looked good, but unfortunately, the first mouthful made the lack of Greek authenticity immediately apparent. The food was extremely bland, with very little flavour, and nothing really stood out. I ordered the roast lamb, while my wife had the souvlaki combo. Both of our roasted Greek potatoes tasted like boiled potatoes that had been quickly thrown into a frying pan just to add some colour. They had absolutely no flavour, despite supposedly being seasoned with lemon and Greek spices. The rice was equally bland and had virtually no taste. There were only a few diced vegetables and a small amount of parsley sprinkled on top, seemingly more for colour than flavour. My roast lamb was tender and fell right off the bone, but it could have been seasoned much better. The tzatziki, on the other hand, had so much garlic that it was barely enjoyable to eat--the garlic was so overpowering that it almost burned in your mouth. Overall, between the bland food, lack of authentic Greek flavour, outdated and dark interior, excessive noise, and slow service, this was an unpleasant dining experience. The restaurant had a small but charming design inside, however the tables were too close to each other, it was loud and claustrophobic. Also the parking lot was full so we had to park further away. The manager was loud and barely accommodating. Our server did the bare minimum of checking in at our table. One of the waitresses seemed high. The food was very expensive $$$ I had the seafood pasta. The seafood wasn't very fresh and the food tasted altogether too fishy. When the server asked me how it tasted I gave a look of dissatisfaction and she simply walked away. The dessert was a frozen cake and although it was very good it was clearly not made there. As I've had that exact cake many times from other restaurants that order it from a company. Made reservations on a Sunday night as my partner wanted Prime Rib. It was very noisy and busy as they had a Wedding Party in a side room. Really wanted to like this place but too many little details weren't looked after. We ordered 1/2 liter of Red Wine and it was decent. About $20. I ordered Seafood Alfredo. It was average. Generous portion but nothing great. They brought the salad at the same time they brought both entrees. Not good. We had to ask for bread. It was worth asking for. The whole experience left a lot to be desired. The Prime Rib tasted good but pretty thin slice. The Waitress was nice but the service was lacking so we probably won't be back. Decades later, my partner and I visited the Royal Oak restaurant on Fraser Hwy. It was later in the evening that we arrived, and the restaurant was very quiet. The staff were quite friendly, and our waitress was helpful. The menu was quite varied, with Greek, Italian and steak. We ordered appetizers: I had dolmades and my partner had French Onion soup. For the mains, I had pasta, and my partner had steak. He offered me a piece of his steak and it was amazing! I've decided that when we return, I'm getting the steak! My pasta was very yummy as well - it was creamy and enough in the serving that I will have lunch for tomorrow! We were both full, and didn't order dessert. But next time. My date ordered the combo 3 ($46.99) for take out. There was so much food that it lasted a few days for us. Good value and food was tasty. The roast lamb was tender and fall off the bone. The moussaka was not the best I have eaten, but it was alright. They used green eggplant for some reason. Greek salad was fantastic with lots of feta cheese and olives. I have ordered hand full of times know. Their menu states 10% if you pick up but when you mention it to them the front staff look pissed off and almost give the impression to make you feel guilty. Hence 4 stars. When it comes to there food 6 stars my wife and I love it. For me their pizza is absolutely amazing (royal special) hands down one of the best pizza I have had since moving here. Little on the pricer side $19 for a small but lights out amazing well worth it. I called back and spoke with the manager, he sounded like he couldn't be bothered. My family has gone to this place for years. We took my Dad there for father's day on Saturday night. My dad wanted steak and Lobster. I had prime rib my sister had chicken Neptune. when it came the first time it was cold. Our waitress took them back to the kitchen to get new ones. They microwaved it but, we stayed because our waitress was so great. I'm giving her a 10 stars the food was horrible but, she tried her best to make it good. She even brought dad a free dessert. Because dad ate his lobster tail they charged us and my sister ate some of the chicken they took 10% off. it would have been almost a 200 dollar bill but was not worth the 80.00 we paid. I have been saying for a long time now that their Roast Lamb is the best in the Lower Mainland and last night was no exception! Went to Royal Oak restaurant because of good reviews, but got only bad food and terrible service. The server forgot to bring half of the things we ordered including an appetizer and wine. She still put wine on the bill and only took it off when we complained. I got a vegetarian pizza and I didn't like it. It had a very thick crust, with huge chunks of onions and green peppers and another thick crust of dry cheese. My husband got a lamb souvlaki and he liked it, but the potato was too sour.
