Went to Royal Oak restaurant because of good reviews, but got only bad food and terrible service. The server forgot to bring half of the things we ordered including an appetizer and wine. She still put wine on the bill and only took it off when we complained. I got a vegetarian pizza and I didn't like it. It had a very thick crust, with huge chunks of onions and green peppers and another thick crust of dry cheese. My husband got a lamb souvlaki and he liked it, but the potato was too sour. There are so many better and cheaper Greek/Italian restaurants in the area so we won't be back there. read more

We used Royal to cater a 60th birthday party dinner for about 30 people. They did an amazing job on the food and I look forward to using them again in the future. Everyone was complementing us on the food and asking where we got it from. We had lamb and chicken souvlaki, ribs, greek potatoes, greek rice, greek salad and pita. Meat was tender and very tasty. We don't go here that often, but if we do, it is usually for Greek food. Roast lamb is nice and tender - better on their Greek special day (same lamb for a cheaper price) of course. The calamari is also good. The pieces are lightly battered and bigger than you would normally find. Of course, Greek meals are not complete without the sides, and the rice, potato, and Greek salad are good too. My kids tend to enjoy the fettuccine. They have a birthday dinner special too. It has been around for a long time and I think it should be around for longer if they stay consistent with their food quality. read more

Our first and last time to experience a disgusting meal. This is definitely not a steak and seafood restaurant. we were a party of 5 for a small birthday dinner, two ordered the sirloin steak dinner and with every bite they had to spit it out as the steak was very tough! the other two ordered some kind of seafood platter which was nothing but grease. The scallops were deep fried and as hard as a rock and the calamari was so tough and dried out that the whole dinner was inedible. I ordered the prime rib which has always been My favorite when dinning out. I was served a piece of brown meat with some kind of brown sauce layered on top. This was definitely not prime rib. You are served takeout pads of butter for Your baked potato .I personally have never seen anything like this! All 5 plates were left uneaten. The person that We paid Our bill to became very defensive when We informed Her about the terrible dinner that We were served. There was no apology made. Went in on a Monday for dinner with friends and had the chicken breast and wasn't cooked, was still pink in the middle, told the waitress whom ran it back to the old guy in the back who yelled at her to the point I heard all the way in the dinning area. 2 minutes later brought it back to me all he did was microwave it it was discusting. Friends had the pasta and steak which the guy does not know how to cook a steak to medium and the toughest piece of shoe leather he every ate. Front Staff was very nice and friendly and did everything possible to make up for the cook and his mistakes. But in a resturant if the food isn't up to par not many people will come back. I consider myself a Prime Rib aficionado. If Prime Rib is on the menu, normally I will order it. Royal Oak by far outdoes the Keg or any high end restaurant for Prime Rib. Large portions and options for potatoes/salad etc. The Royal Oak special pizza is the best! The Greek platters for 2 could easly feed 4. I called with "different" request on time and was accomodated with a smile and larger portions than I paid for. When we are looking for a NICE evening out we always head to the Royal Oak! The staff are very freindly and the service is exceptional! This is definately our "go to" place! read more

We ordered a large number 2 pizza from royal oak .It took an hour and a half to arrive the cheese was burnt to a crisp and cold and disgusting to eat.The delivery person was rude and the order taker is completely clueless.Will never order from this crap hole again. read more

Where do I start....biggest issue besides being over priced for the quality was our experience with the owners daughter Andrea? This person has little decorum and had no filter on her comments, and was quite rude, I'm sure she thinks she's funny....she is not. We were escorted to our table by Andrea, with me carrying the only menu that I was looking at by the front desk and the only one left in the restaurant which we had to share between 4 people, then 6-Judy came minutes later (the only quick thing to happen) to take our order and was taken aback because we were not ready to order, and when I pointed out that half our party had not even seen the "special" menu as were not given one, and had to share the 1 menu between 4 people she went into that they are so busy...like it was our fault somehow. The food was hit and miss but mostly miss...the calamari starter was cooked In oil that was not hot enough making them very greasy instead of crunchy, (the menu has the wrong price on the calamari and you will be charged a dollar more). The French onion soup was a disappointment...have not seen this on a menu since 1980 so was kinda excited to have it....in this case chunks of hard onion not undercooked just fibrous, not a lot of cheese, as described but enough. The Cesar salad that came with e prime rib was watery, no flavour at all, 2 people had the 9oz prime rib, which was ok but one plate clearly had a much larger portion than the other, both smothered in this unknown flavour of a gravy and the meat was quite unlike prime rib and more like a basic roast...comments by both people who ordered it was "disappointing" and all 4 of us tried it with the same conclusion, Meh x 3. The lasagne was cold in the middle and besides it being a generous portion size, it was nothing more than average defrosted? goop with cheese on top. One person wanted to order the scallops and our waitress (6 judy) said she would pick something else as they tasted funny and most people send them back...thanks for the tip, anyhow...really. The highlight was the roast lamb which was tender and flavourful, however it was highly salted, but I like that. I think Andrea took offence to me as she had to do an extra trip from the bar to our table at the far end of the restaurant to get a bottle of wine. We ordered the Pinot Grigio which our waitress (6 -Judy) asked if we wanted the red or white, when I asked if Pinot Grigio came in red she ran off....anyhow they have 2 Pinot grigios on the menu and of course not having the opportunity to tell our waitress which one we wanted Andrea brought the wrong one...only 2.00 difference in price (we wanted the more expensive one) but we like to try new things.... the Hungarian Pinot was very nice and good value at $22.00 The service was very slow and indifferent from our waitress (6-judy) whose only comments to us throughout the whole evening was how busy she was...no apologies for the long waits for everything esp the main courses, no smiles, like we were a huge inconvenience to her. The bill for 4 people, 2 starters, 4 mains and a bottle of wine....145.00 plus 15% (which she did not deserve). The dishes were fine. But the service was a turn off. We ordered baked spaghetti but baked lasagna was served. When asked, server apologized and said she "misheard".. but when you hear your order repeated to you, then i would say she "made a mistake" punching our order and NOT "misheard". I think the server felt a bit bad and therefore just avoided our table altogether. Whilst paying for the bill, I was also not asked how dinner was by the cashier. My family and some friends went to the Royal Oak on Friday and the food was just BLAAA. Because we had 8 people we had to pay 15 percent gratuity and after getting my food and the bill I would have never paid that at all. So disappointing when this place use to be so good. SAD!!!! read more

Been going to Royal Oak for years and felt food was quite consistent until last night. Ordered take out. Greek salad, pizza and moussaka. Pizza wasn't put on wax paper so leaked thru box. Greek salad was bland. Moussaka was made with zucchini? Very strange. I've only had it with eggplant. Very disappointed. Not sure if they have a new chef who is unfamiliar with Greek cuisine. read more

Came here from a co-worker's recommendation who frequents this place quite often and I wasn't disappointed. Place is huge with plenty of seating and friendly and attentive hostess who greeted us warmly and asked us where we wanted to sit. The place was about 70% full and had a mix of adults and family. Ordered the nights special, french onion soup- which was delicious and had plenty of melted cheese along with escargot topped with melted cheese, also good but maybe next time will just order the regular snails. Our waitress was outstanding-everything she suggested was great and she took pleasure in serving us, always making sure we were looked after. For our main course we ordered the dinner special which had 1 chicken souvlaki, half order of calamari, rice, roast potatoes, greek salad and tzatziki with pita bread. Slightly disappointed with the calamari - found it a bit rubbery and not seasoned enough for my liking. Portions were huge so we had no room for dessert, but definitely plan to come back and try it! read more

We have dined here several times and have found it to be a good solid neighborhood place. We were there again last Friday night and what a disappointment; fake bacon on the potatoe skins, seafood penne was made of freezer burned scallops and prawns over tasteless white sauce. Veal resembled cardboard as did the taste. Pizza was like warm. This place needs Robert Irvine... And cost, with a half ltr of house wine and tip was $92.00. The 3 of us could have had 4 different meals at the T&T Food Court and it would have been much more enjoyable. read more

This restaurant is good and the staff are friendly. But I am warning you that the portions are HUGE. My boyfriend ordered the Ribs and Lasagna and the food that he received could have fed both of us. We had to take so much food home. If they would cut down on the portions, then it wouldn't be so bad. I would go again. read more

first time visiting we were greeted by a friendly lady named lenny she had a wonderful bubbly personality we were seated right away it was a Friday night and early probably around 5 so the restaurant wasnt busy yet we ordered the drink special which was a pina colada $6 was reasonable the only thing was I always get the pina colada at the keg and they are the absolute pina colada around so while it was good I cant keep comparing it there were ice chunks which made it difficult to drink through a straw we went with the meatballs with garlic bread to start while it was ok I wouldnt order it again it came in a large bowl with 5 large meatballs covered in meat sauce and a basket with 1 small piece of garlic toast so we cut the toast in half and the toast was small to begin with so we basically just ate the meatball with a fork the meatballs were just ok it seemed like a lot of filler maybe I'm wrong but that's the taste to me I guess if we each had a piece of garlic bread it would of been more enjoyable I think it was 8.99 my husband had the lasagna with HALF chicken and veggies and garlic bread that was a good deal 20.99 it was more than he could eat which doesn't happen very often he enjoyed it but I asked if the chicken was dry he said yes its overcooked but is still good he said the lasagna was good everything was served hot I had a chicken special that was 22.99 it came with half boiled potato rice and not too cheap on the rice and it had a good flavor Greek salad was very good Greek bread which was very good and a huge piece of chicken breast with mushrooms mozzarella cheese and a white sauce everything on the plate was delicious I would say the value for your money was better than most next time I wouldnt get the appetizer but would get everything else again it seems like a nice family restaurant and not the generic Boston pizza type overall I would recommend this restaurant read more
