First time at this place and had dinner and our experienced was very good. The place was a bit busy but we got seated right away and the staff were friendly. The place was okay with several live plants all over the place. The Calamari we've ordered was not over bread and tasted really good. The Roast Lamb I had was very tender and tasty. They open late on weekends. I believe 4PM. It was our first time here. Originally, we planned on eating here but decided to take out the food instead. Staff were friendly. It's a pretty chill restaurant. Ordered seafood platter and an extra calamari because we love our calamari. Pretty please with the taste of the food and the size of the servings. It fed 5 adults. For our orders, I paid $80 plus 15% tip. Came to almost $100. Unfortunately, there is no parking other than in front of this restaurant and when it gets busy, you have to find parking somewhere else. read more

Had a dinner reservation for 6pm. Ordered food at 6:20 and received water at 6:30, as they were out of ice tea. It was very hot and stuffy in the restaurant, so water was welcome. There were many tables ahead of us and no one had any food. At 7pm I asked the waitress an eta on dinner and she said the kitchen was doing the best they could but she had no idea. Not impressed! Was there with a group of 12 for New Year's dinner. We waited 30 min before anyone came to our table after we were seated, waited a further 30-40 min before our order was taken and from there, an hour later we received our food! Came in at 6:00 and were eating just after 8:00. Had drinks dumped on one guest, had to flag staff down for drinks. Food was expensive, portions were small. People were standing at their tables waiting for their bills that took 25 min to receive??! So many take out orders which was probably the cause of the long waits and very little staff for a big night of reservations. Not sure what the plan was, however, we will not be back. read more

Ordered the Lamb Souvlaki. Was like 19$. Meat was 1 skewer. decent tasting, not special. Rice was above average. Greek salad was decent, lots of feta cheese. Okay setting and atmosphere. Traditional Greek music on speakers. Menu was just photocopied paper in plastic menu sleeve. But who charges 4 bucks for a can of pop ? Smh. Exactly the atmosphere you'd expect in a Greek Taverna, down to the blue and white tablecloths on the simple rectangular tables to the greenery hanging from the ceiling to the Greek music playing softly from the speakers. We were greeted warmly at the door and the hostess made our kids feel welcome. Portion sizes were generous (neither my wife nor I could clean our plates) and arrived quickly and hot. I had the escargot appetizer and the moussaka main - both were tasty and just what I was hoping for. Rae had the (best ever) dahlmates and the lamb souvlaki, both amazing. When it comes to Greek restaurants, there are a few factors that I like to use as my golden standard: greek potatoes, dolmathes, and the souvlaki. In an ideal world the potatoes will be lemony and not overly greasy, the dolmathes will be moist and their sauce light and creamy, and the souvlaki will be tender and well seasoned. On all accounts, Pyrgos Taverna delivered! I wasn't sure what to expect, since this restaurant is out in downtown Haney. We were meeting family for a birthday celebration and they had all raved about the food here, so I was cautiously optimistic about the experience. We arrived for an early dinner just before 6 PM and there were only a couple of other diners in the joint, but I knew it was early, and also two days before Christmas, so I chalked up the quietness to those factors. My family had the saganaki (another good measure of Greek food - sometimes it is oily and tastes of the alcohol used to cook it) and calamari to start, and both were quite tasty. The calamari was a bit brown, but it wasn't at all greasy or too tough, and the saganki was perfect. We then proceeded to share the combo platter #1 (lamb chops, keftedes, chicken souvlaki, mousaka & dolmathes accompanied by the standard rice, potatoes, salad & tzatziki with pita). The meat items were tender, well seasoned and cooked just right, the dolmathes were lightly creamy and lemony, and the mousaka was downright delicious (a hint of cinnamon)! I noticed on several other ratings sites that people had complained about slow service, but we didn't have a problem with this at all. Our server was prompt without being too overbearing and our food all arrived at once and in a timely fashion. We had a BIT of a wait for the bill, but we were having a lovely visit and I suspect our server didn't want to interrupt. This is one Greek restaurant that I will happily return too, and with family out their way, I'm sure it will be sooner than later. read more

We went here e last Saturday. The food was great and the place was full with a lineup out the door. Servers were very friendly and attentive. The meal did take quite awhile to arrive, but that can be forgiven for how busy it was. The food arrive and it was a decent size portion and very tasty. Even better it was not terribly expensive. Delicious and satisfying meals, we ordered from here for the first time and it was so good we had to order again the next day for more. Greek salad was super fresh and flavourful with lots of feta. The lasagna is amazing--for locals who still remember Dino's, it tastes just like their lasagna did--the holy grail of lasagna lol! Such a great experience! There was 12 of us last night for a birthday party. The service was excellent, our server was so nice and attentive with a great sense of humour. I personally think this restaurant has the best Greek food I have ever had. The roast lamb is my favorite , I've eaten in many Greek restaurants in Vancouver and never enjoyed any as much. Went here for a Christmas work lunch. Before this visit I have had Greek food else where. Overall the food was very good. I had the assorted Souvlaki, it was lamb beef and chicken on a skewer with Rice potatoes and Greek salad. Also came with pita bread and tzatziki sauce. In the area on vacation and was searching for someplace for lunch. Drove by and decided to try out. Ordered the combination for two. It included kalamari, Greek salad, chicken souvlakia, moussaka, keftedes, tzatziki, rice and potatoes. Wish I took a picture because presentation enhanced your appetite as it was very visually appealing. Everything was very good and authentic. Owners are originally from Greece and decor reflects it. I really hate to say this, but we were not impressed with the Pyrgos. Price and portion wasn't the issue, but service and the taste definitely were. When we arrived, we weren't sure where to go, and ended up walking to the back of the restaurant to find out if we could just pick somewhere to sit, or if we had to wait to be seated. The waitress had a sour expression and told us hurriedly to sit anywhere we wanted. The place only had two other occupied tables, a total of eight other people, so I'm not sure why she acted so bothered. After that, the service got steadily worse. She dropped two menus on the table, did not light the candle (as she did with everyone else that dined in the restaurant), and when I asked what hummus was she gave me a stare as if to say "are you an idiot'. Then, she said curtly, "It cheapeas mixed with onion." Which I found out later isn't quite the case. Anyway, I ordered a lime margarita, which was a disgusting watered down drink overflowing with ice cubes. Then I tried to order the hen, which she bluntly told me wasn't available and impatiently waited for me to pick something else. So I chose what my husband had picked, a platter with lamb chops, Greek meatballs, chicken, rice, potato and Greek salad. Our appetizer of Dolmades came first, which had been bathed and basted in salt, there were only five, and for the price, was a rip-off. It was so salty we almost threw it back at the waitress, who spent more time frowning than doing anything useful. As for the main course, the Greek meatballs were, once again, bathed in salt, the chicken breast was dry around the edges and still pink inside, the potato, rice and salad were okay, but then how do you screw those up. The only thing that was actually good was the lamb; it was succulent and very tasty. But it wasn't good enough that I would ever dine at this restaurant again. read more

Me and my family ordered two beef one chicken and a lamb, first off the beef was dry and burnt and the potatoes were smaller than a baby's foot, second off the tzatziki dip tasted like it was pure garlic paste, third off the lamb was like chewing rubber and was barley eatable, Fourth off the bread was hard as a rock had to have been at least days old disgusting won't be going there ever again!!! read more

We ordered food for takeout and my family thought the souvlaki was okay, just okay. The moussaka I ordered was just okay as well. The calamari was the worst I have ever had, seriously - it tasted like burnt rubber. I'm pretty sure if I had picked up frozen greek food and reheated it, it would have been more enjoyable and cheaper too. Also, when my daughter stopped by earlier in the afternoon to pick up a menu they didn't have any available and told her to look it up on line, but they don't have a website so you have to hunt through menu sites to find it.
