It's great to see that even with the new ownership, Cosmos Greek Restaurant in White Rock is still the same place we've loved for years. It's been a longtime family gathering spot for us, and once again they didn't disappoint. Nice little Greek spot in the heart of White Rock. Plenty of parking if you're not going in peak times. The service was good - even though it was busy during my visit. The food itself took longer to arrive. The Rack of Lamb and the Roast Lamb was seasoned well, the Greek dry ribs were good as well. Portions were okay. First return visit under new ownership. Food was similar to what it was like before, but the service was noticeably slower. Not sure if it was just our waitress or staffing but we waited a long time in between each course and had to keep flagging our server just for her to come over. My large chicken souvlaki came with 2 chicken skewers - moist and tender; potatoes - lacking the traditional oomph of lemon flavour; rice - just okay; cooked broccoli - temperature unappetizingly cool, not hot as one might expect, and drizzled with some kind of sauce (couldn't tell what); greek salad - tasteless and topped with one tiny olive, some cucumber slices a little too soft-centred to serve a customer, tasteless dry tomato, AND, why do Greek restaurants (all the ones I've been to in my many years) serve that bland, so-called feta? Where are olive oil, garlic and spices in any part of this meal? Why does a Greek restaurant represent its cuisine with a mediocre tzatziki? My two friends described the lamb in their souvlakis as very good. Although the restaurant was near-empty and had several servers, food was slow arriving at the table and should have been hot. Our server (Richard?) seemed to dash to our table and dash away just as quickly. Craving some Greek fare, decided to come to Cosmos in White Rock. Parking is all along Marine drive for a fee. when you come at prime times be prepared to do a bit of driving from lot to lot and waiting for someone to leave a spot! We had no wait as it was a Thursday evening and not overly busy. Server was attentive to start, and grabbed our order promptly. We started with the Saganaki. It was decent, it's something I order often at Greek restaurants and this one was ok. Needed to be a bit more crisp on the edges and it was plated in a dish of the same colour. Not eye pleasing, ya know? I'm all about presentation and colour. Once we finished our appetizer, it went downhill pretty fast. We waited over 45 minutes for our main course to arrive. Not great. I felt bad for the server, he apologized and thanked us for our patience. Once our main dishes did come they were OK. Nothing spectacular, under seasoned and the tzatziki was bland. Once we asked for the bill it took another 10 minutes to get that and then we had to wait another 5 to 10 minutes for him to get a machine to us. The restaurant was nowhere near full so it was hard to justify the delay in everything. Hopefully this review will help them improve their service and getting food out of the kitchen a bit faster. read more

Very sad celebration for Mother's Day! We had waited over 2 hrs and still not served our main meal! Our server Steve was so busy that it lacked polite service! They ran out of clean cutlery and was told to use our dirty cutlery. It seems like this family based restaurant was busy making money and over booking which caused terrible customer service! Cosmos Restaurant is a delightful restaurant on Marine Drive. The service is very good. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They are Covid compliant; however, it still has a relaxed feel. Their souvlaki is my usual go-to as it's tender and flavorful. This time I decided to try the meatballs - absolutely outstanding. The sauce was great and the meatballs were melt-in-your-mouth tender. I actually savored them while eating them. Their homage to Greece drinks were satisfying and nice to look at. I chose the Mykonos sunset. There is street parking. The views of the beach across the street add to the ambiance, especially if you're dining around sunset. The meal portions are generous. High end level of service. I will definitely be back. It's my favorite place for Greek food in the lower mainland. read more

Waitress was pleasant but served us the wrong wine. She did add in an extra desert and Greek salad though. Greek salad was probably the worst I have had. The bottom of the salad was warm, probably from sitting on a warmer, and the salad had no flavor with seemingly plain oil sitting at the bottom. Chicken souvlaki was nice and moist, but rice, veggies and tzatziki were flavorless. My husband's escargot was average at best. Desert and greek potatoes were very tasty. During our meal all of a sudden loud music blasted out of a poor quality speaker. I thought it was rock and roll, but was told it was Greek music. Spent $400 for 4 people for lack luster Greek food. We had the best lamb chops I had tasted in a long time. Don't recall what the name if the dish is but the breaded liver was very tasty which I had never had before. We have been coming here for many years but we cannot recommend this restaurant to others. The food is decent but the experience left our table group with a bad taste in our mouth. One of the managers, Georgia, we found to be very unreasonable and unprofessional. The kitchen messed up and forgot one of orders for our group of 4. The waiter apologized and said it would be 2 minutes while there was a rush on the order. The waiter came by again and apologized and said it would be out soon. 30 minutes after initially saying 2 minutes the waiter apologized again and said that this was ridiculous and the meal would be compensated. Then a few minutes later came back again very apologetic saying the manager, Georgia, refused to compensate it and offered to do a round of shots and a dessert that no one wanted. We all felt the waiter was amazing. By this time the rest of us were finished our meal and our friend's meal finally arrived. We asked to speak to the manager, Georgia, who was very unapologetic. Georgia said that even though the kitchen messed up (over 40 minutes had passed since the rest of us had received our meals) she refused to compensate the meal because she said the food is good and our friend is eating it. Georgia also said the restaurant was just scraping by and they couldn't afford to compensate the meal. This didn't seem to be the case since it was a Friday night in the summer with most of the tables occupied. The meal was slightly discounted but the disregard from Georgia for our time and experience and her unprofessionalism left us all feeling like Cosmos is not somewhere we would recommend to friends or be visiting any time soon. read more

First visit in many years and decided to go with the special which gave you an appetizer, main meal and dessert. Seemed like a better deal but found that the appetizer (squid) lacked flavour. The main meal was lamb that came with rice, potatoes,broccoli & carrots. Very large portion and quite tasty and the dessert was delicious but can't remember what it was called. Waitress seemed to be pre occupied at times and she could have done a better job. I enjoyed the experience at Cosmos -- the atmosphere/ food/ and service all added up to make it a slightly better than average time. The appies were amazing: the shrimp uvetsi appy & the chicken exohico were delicious and very reasonably priced (if you're only ordering one, my vote goes to chicken!) but my main, the dolmades, left a bit to be desired. It wasn't bad.... it was good.... but it wasn't GREAT! didn't really hit my cravings, you know? The weather wasn't very nice when I went, but for the summer time, I'm sure the patio/ vistas are very beautiful. The only thing which is either a hit or a miss (it was a miss for me) was the belly dancing. She's actually pretty skilled with the whole sword on head twirlly second dance, but the first dance with the cymbals going *clip clip clip!!* every 5 seconds in the first dance just started me off with a light headache. ... thus, the 3.5*'s as opposed to 4. for two people, -- two appies, and two mains, no drinks or dessert -- total was about $30/ each read more

I had lunch here with my cousins. They were sweet enough to treat me for my birthday. Greek food is pretty prevalent in Vancouver and the surrounding areas, and I feel that this restaurant may be relying too much on its location versus focusing on producing quality and delicious Greek food. I ordered the chicken souvalki: Tender marinated cubes of meat grilled and served with Greek Salad, rice, roast potatoes and tzatziki. Chicken Souvlaki 12.95/ 16.95 Two skewers cost $16.95 and my order was very dry. ONE STAR DEMOTION. The potato that was on my plate was very salty...to the point where I did not even finish it nor did I ask to box it up. This coming from a girl who normally orders EXTRA servings of the lemony potatoes at Greek restaurant. ONE SUPER SAD STAR DEMOTION. My cousins ordered the calamari plates, and I found them to be salty as well. ANOTHER SUPER SAD STAR DEMOTION. If it weren't for the fantastic company I was with, this dining experience would have been "kakós". I will more than likely not return. Cosmos Greek meals have always been great in fact, this family-run business is a solid fixture for White Rock's Marine Drive. We arrive at 5:15, were there for 2.5 hours, never rushed by the pleasant staff, the owner was visible and turned on the patio heaters for us. People were still coming in the restaurant around 8:00. We came here for a quick supper. Had not heard of fried olives before. They were quite good, although what black olive is not. And the olives kept us busy til Main dishes came. 3.5 is more accurate. I've said this many times on my reviews but restaurants along white rock strip are so disappointing but this is one of the best one's down there! I've been here 3 times. This last time I went since the renovations this place was way better. The servers are always friendly here which is a bonus. I ordered Prawn souvlaki and it was the BEST I've ever had from any Greek place. The rice was good, potatoes cooked perfectly. We also started with Saganaki which is fried Greek cheese (amazing if you've never tried it) and they do a perfect job cooking it here. The reason for not giving this place 4 stars is because my Dolmades were a bit watery from being previously frozen then cooked. Also the Pita bread that came out with our meal was basically raw so very disappointed there. I peaked over at another tables pita bread and it was the same, very raw. If they tweek these things I would be more inclined to give this place 4 stars. Also not a huge fan of the carrots and broccoli side , would much rather just a simple Greek salad. read more

I was out on the beach with my girlfriends and we were starving so we decided that Greek food would hit the spot. So we were greeted and asked if we wanted to inside or outside, it was a unanimous decision since it was gorgeous outside, so why the heck not!? So we were seated outside and our waters were filled. Note that the water glasses were incredibly small and we were thirsty. The refills for waters didn't come for a while (20 minutes?). The service was very slow... The table beside us were waiting for their bill for a good 15 minutes. I don't blame the service for being slow being that there was only one girl working. We had our orders taken. Myself and my girl had the Chicken Souvlaki and my other girlfriend had the Saganaki. We were presented with 6 slices of pita breads to start with. They were lightly toasted, nothing interesting, nothing flavourful. Finally, our food came out after 15 minutes, it looked delicious! I was excited. The Chicken Souvlaki was served with potatoes, a greek salad, rice, and of course, the marinated skewered chicken served with tzatziki sauce. The salad was fine considering Greek salad is somewhat fool proof. The rice was a little more than al dente, you could taste that is wasn't fully cooked properly. The chicken was perfectly done but the tzatziki sauce was a little TOO garlic-y. Finally, the potatoes - it was far too sour. I couldn't finish them. But that was okay since I was full because the portions were HUGE. Finally, my friend's Saganaki was just a huge piece of cheese served with a small portion of pita bread. The pita bread to cheese ratio was off. She had more than half of the Saganaki left and no more pita bread. Which I felt like was a huge waste. The general consensus would have to be that it was just mediocre. It was nothing amazing. I wouldn't say I would come here again because on the shore, there are some restaurants I'd rather try then to be disappointed again. I went here with my wife and my parents and a pair of friends, so 6 of us in total. 3 of us had the rack of lamb.... it was the BEST lamb we have ever had. 2 medium rare, and 1 rare. it melted in the mouth, the rack was perfect. the plate had alot of food, too much. Not use to rice and potatoes at once. all the dishes were good, but the rack... I'll go back for that. This restaurant is fast becoming our go-to for Greek food. It helps that we live near by too. As many restaurants have closed over the past year along Marine Drive by the water in White Rock, we hope that Cosmo's will not follow that trend. They do seem to always be busy. The service is always good. No waiting, no hassles. Avgolemo soup (lemon chicken) is a favorite, and gluten free, which my wife appreciates. Greek salad is what you would expect. Fresh warm PITA bread with Tzatziki is lovely. My gluten free wife is jealous. I usually have Kleftiko roast lamb while my wife has souvlaki. This time we both had those while one of our guests had ribs and the other salmon. All dishes come with an abundance of potatoes, rice and veggies. Another delicious meal, topped off with an Ekmek Greek dessert for one, vanilla ice cream for our youngest guest (complete with whipped cream and a cherry on top) and Crème Caramel. Coffee too. The decaf tasted a bit poor, so they immediately made fresh and all was good. Lots of left overs to take home. Being across the street from the Boardwalk is nice too if you want to go for a stroll by the ocean. We parked right in front of the restaurant, which was most convenient. It is pay parking and summer parking is always challenging in White Rock, but no problem in the winter. read more

The food is still superb and the patio is great but the wait staff is inconsistent I have eaten just about everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed, i love their moussaka and their greek meatballs (forget the real name). We love Cosmos!! They're so nice there. We've been before dragging in a huge stroller and they just find a place to put it without seeming annoyed at all.
