(1km walk ) If you drive it's like 5-8 min drive from Columbia station. / close to highway 1 exit. Interior reminds me of 2000's decor. Staff are very attentive. Tasted like a Greek Italian fusion, but more on the Greek leaning side. Their specials are dine in only. No take out. The Gino pizza is their best seller. Parking directly in front is paid. There is a side street that has a parking lot for free. But seldom is open as people who live in the apartments scoop it up. Price is decent if you get the entree special. But if you get the pizza. You can easily enjoy it itself or split it with another person. read more

We had a lovely evening at Gino's. It is a lovely family run restaurant and has nice cozy vibe. We had made reservations, and we were warmly greeted and seated at a booth. Sydney came to our table and presented water and menus. We asked for a wine list, and she said that they had limited wines because of the BCGEU strike but asked what we wanted and she checked availability for us. When we asked her about a couple of the wines, she offered to give us a small sample of one the wines. It was a white wine and the wine was well chilled and served in a nice cold glass. We ordered the wine with dinner and Sydney brought out an ice bucket for the wine. For dinner we shared garlic prawns in butter as an appetizer. They were perfectly cooked and the garlic butter was perfect with a good taste of garlic. It was served with really good garlic bread that was generously buttered. Gino's also served 6 prawns. Many restaurants just provide 5 prawns even if they know the order is being shared. Our entrees were chicken parmesan with spaghetti for my husband and roast lamb for myself. The portions are very generous. My husband's chicken was very tender and moist. I had a large serving of roast lamb served with Greek salad, potatoes and rice. The lamb was very tender. It was a wonderful meal. The service from Sydney was very good. It was a very good evening with nice friendly staff, very good food and reasonable prices. We were driving on Columbia Street New Westminster last week & noticed this restaurant - Gino's. It is a Greek Medeterranian Restaurant serving Pizzas, Pastas, Burgers etc but with a "Greek twist", making the food very comforting & delicious! We had the Saginaki Starters (adequate for 4 persons), Fettucine Pasta, Spinach Pie , Veg Garden Burger, Cheese toast for the kids & the Greek version of Tiramasu dessert. All the dishes were excellent in taste, good portions /serving with excellent service ! The Spinach Pie was outstanding out of all the dishes. The prices were market prices. The restaurant was cozy , homely & though spartan inside was comfortable. We will patronise Gino's henceforth regularily . read more

I don't know how to feel about this since we got treated Gino's pizza at work and surprisingly they were delicious for thick standard pizzas. My coworker and I went there today to try their dine out menu and we were a bit disappointed. We had their harvest mushroom soup to start. The soup was way too salty but had plenty of mushrooms. The chicken souvlaki wasn't very good. Everything was overly greasy. Couldn't eat the rice as that was the greasiest. Chicken tasted dry. The one spud and Greek salad were the only edible items on my plate. The tuxedo cake was good and so was the server as she was the only one managing the restaurant during lunch time. read more

Gino's is an institution in New West Sapperton area. It has been around for ages and consistently serves tasty home style greek and Italian food. Comfort food for sure. I have been here a few times and always get the roast lamb. The portion is big and the meat is so tender and flavorful. On my last visit, I decided to try the lasagna as it is often raved by others. Pizzas are also another favorite of the customers. The lasagna is delicious, and the meatballs are so homely. Dense and full of meat. No filler here. It could be an off day when I had the lasagna as it was quite salty. But still tasty. The daily specials are pretty good deals and the dine out menu is one of the more affordable ones around. Great place. Paid street parking is out front, or you can try the side streets for free parking. read more

I came here with couple of friends to try their 2022 Dine-out menu. The restaurant is in uptown and there are side street parking that are free. Service was great here. Our meal was very enjoyable and I have to say, I think this is one of the best Dine-out menu on the list. So I got the following: 1) Chicken Noodle Soup 2) Roast lamb and it came with greek salad, rice, potatoe, pita bread and tzatziki sauce 3) Chocolate cake dessert The chicken noodle soup was perfect for the cold weather. It was definitely a comfort food for sure. The entrée was my favorite. The roast lamb was cooked to perfection. It was a very big portion. Potatoes was nice and soft. The pita bread was nice and warm when it came. The outside of the pita bread was a bit crispy the way I liked it and the inside nice and soft. Rice was flavorful and the Greek salad was delicious with lots of feta cheese. The chocolate cake wasn't anything special but it finished off the meal. My friends all ordered lasagna and they said it was more on the salty side. The décor was nice here. We came early so it was not crazy busy. Later on in the evening the restaurant filled up and was a full house. I highly recommend trying their dine-out menu. I will definitely be back. Came here for Dine Out 2022. Place is pretty much unchanged since the last time I was here a few years ago. Friendly staff. Chicken noodle soup was good. Lasagna - they used way too much salt. Friends and I could barely finish the thing. Knock 1 star off. Even thinking about it now makes me shrudder. Not sure if they messed up, but the fact that my friends felt the same way about their own dishes probably means the recipe needs to be adjusted. Chocolate cake - who doesn't like cake? Tasty. The basic flavours are pretty consistent but the overall quality can vary dramatically. Used to be a big fan of their lasagna, but the most recent order we received only had sauce, meat, and cheese around the edges of the dish -- the middle was nothing but noodle. Between what felt like a bit of a bamboozle, and the fact that items are often missed on delivery orders, I'm starting to feel like maybe we need to find a new spot when a lasagna craving hits. read more

The ambience is basically "mom & pop". The restaurant is dark and not very welcoming. The food tasted good. Unfortunately..... we saw a mouse in the dining area. I waved a server over to let her know. She apologized went over to tell the owner. The owner did nothing -- we think she picked the mouse up with her hands. She was calm -- like nothing happened. She didn't speak us, didn't even look at us -- whereas the server we waved over apologized twice. They charged us the whole bill. Sorry I didn't take any photos -- I was so surprised by the mouse and the lack of reaction of the owner. Back to the begining of this visit -- as soon as we entered the restaurant there was a lady up front but she ignored us and walked away. Another server came out after a few mins later to ask if we've been helped yet. Our server (Sydney) was great, however. She was sweet and pleasant. We've been here a couple of times before but I think we'll likely not be coming back any time soon. As cute as the mouse was, I don't enjoy seeing them while I eat. read more

What an amazing find! I am a big fan of Greek food, specifically the lamb dishes, and Gino's did not disappoint. I came on a Sunday and their special ($15.50) was the lamb roast so it was a no brainer. If you come here on Thursdays, this dish is just $11.95! The lamb roast dinner was huge. It came with a large piece of lamb, accompanied by rice, potatoes, greek salad, and pita bread. The pita bread was piping hot and was so soft. The lamb was tender and very flavourful. For comparison, Stepho's lamb roast is better, but this was a close second. I was very full by the time I finished everything, but I think I could have fit a few more bites of lamb! This is a wonderful restaurant that I've never come across before and really wish I did sooner when I lived in the area. I'll be sure to swing by next time I'm nearby and craving lamb, which is all the time! read more

It was okay, enough cheese on top, just enough meat sauce to mix with oolong in pasta. Meat sauce needs a little more spice. Recently visited Gino to picked up some Greek Platter and the owners are fastanistic! Super friendly and clean. They wipe down the card machine with disinfectant upon use and make they are in proper distance during the social distancing period. The food is delish! We had the Greek Platter for 4 and ordered an extra platter to drop off to my parents and we all loved it! The platter came with a generous portion of everything from Lamb Chops + Moussaka + Chicken Souvlaki + Oregano Roast Potatoes + Greek Salad + Tzatziki + Pita Bread. The Moussaka is definitely worth a try!! And I'll be sure to order it again! It was sooo creamy and smooth and packed with flavour. They also have pizza and a range of other entrees too! My parents are leaving for an extended holiday, so we decided to have a family dinner before they left. We chose Gino's because it's a restaurant that has something for all tastes; that and their Dine Out is $15 which is a crazy deal for what you get. It's located in New West; about a 5min walk from Royal Columbian Hospital. Growing up in New West, I'd always have my birthday dinner here with my family. The menu has many options, but it isn't overwhelming. For today's visit, all of chose the Dine Out menu Pictured below are all Dine Out options. For mains you get three options: Small pizza, chicken or beef souvlaki, and lasagna or spaghetti. I've had a three and can say that you can't go wrong with either. My family and I decided to all get different Dine Out items so that we could share. The food: 1) Lasagna - the portion size is massive. I'm a big guy and can eat quite a bit for dinner. I ended up eating only half. The noodles are cooked perfectly and the sauce is a standard meat sauce that isn't too salty. The cheese is the best part. They bake their lasagnas so you get the crispy cheese edges. 2) Souvlaki - to me chicken souvlaki can be hit or miss because the chicken breast can dry out quickly if cooked too long and you end up having to load up on tzatziki sauce on the chicken to moisten it up. I've never had to do that at Gino's. The chicken is cooked perfectly. 3) Pizza - the pizzas here are famous around New Westminster. I can't really them to any of the chain places like Dominos and they're definitely not Napolitan style. The dough is thick with a crispy and flavourful crust. I usually get the same toppings everytime I order so it's tough to talk about the taste. All I can say is that they're not stingy with the cheese. Will I come back? I've never had a disappointing meal at Gino's and plan to continue eating here for as long as it stays open. It gets a 5 star rating from me. read more

Ordered pizza again and asked them not to slice it but it arrived sliced sloppily uneven unsharable deliberately ignored my request for unsliced. Too bad so sad, pathetic they are. Went there with a guest from Spain. Ordered the roast beef dinner. The beef was hacked off in rough chunks overcooked and basically inedible not nicely sliced medium rare, the Yorkshire pudding was burnt and the veg ambivalent with a pathetic gravy. I requested a take-out container, took it home and dumped it. Disgusting all the way around. I Hate Them. read more

Gino's Restaurant is located in the heart of Sapperton in New Westminster. The interior isn't much to look at and reminds me of a sports bar that's seen better times... the furniture seemed a bit wobbly (the backing to my booth kept wavering back and forth so I had to make sure not to lean too hard). I showed up for lunch on a weekday in June and the place was fairly quiet. The few patrons that were here seemed to be either people that worked in the area or some old timers. I decided to order their Gyro ($11.50) - pronounced "YEEros" which is made from ground beef and lamb thinly sliced and wrapped in a pita with tomatoes, onions, and lettuce and then served with a Greek salad and fries. The first thing that I noticed when this platter arrived at my table was the huge glob of tzatziki that was dolloped on the top of the gyro. I tried to pick up the pita wrap but it was quite difficult as it wasn't wrapped tightly and tended to flop around (perhaps the reason why they gave me a steak knife with the gyro was because I was supposed to knife-and-fork-it). The best part of the gyro was the warm and tender grilled pita wrap... sometimes when I get a donair/gyro, the pita is dry and hard to bite through but this pita wrap was soft and a pleasure to bite through. The filling was a bit skimpy in the meat department but the flavours were alright. Ordered on the phone, and picked up the food ourselves. (You get 10% off if you pick up your order!) We ordered the 10" Gino's Special (Ham, mushrooms, green peppers, pepperoni, shrimp, olives, onions), the baked lasagna, and a side of yam fries. The yam fries were a big surprise - I really enjoyed them along with their sauce for dipping. Definitely recommend getting this if you're going to this restaurant. The pizza here has a thicker crust - but it was not bad. They were not stingy on the toppings, and for the price, I thought it was a great deal, especially with the shrimp as a topping. Personally, I think the lasagna could be improved. I found it very salty, and it tasted like there were hints of anchovy in it? Enough is enough...not once, this time included, have we ever received our order where we thought it was even warm. We came by for dine out 2020. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. The vibe in the restaurant is family casual. We were really disappointed with the portions. While the chicken souvlakia was lovely and the humid and yogurt cake was good, it was all so small that we were still hungry and went out to eat after. The humus was the size of a dunking sauce from McDonalds, the skewer of chicken was really small and not juicy and the rest was all rice with one potato and salad . The yogurt cake was about two Timbbits sized My suggestion would be not to go hungry. My fiancé is a 210 lb guy and didn't consider that dinner. I would suggest ginos do the $25 menu next year and that way they can make dinners the size of a regular menu. It was really good food but we just would have wanted more when we go out to eat a dinner menu. We went out for wings after! Would avoid for dine out this year but I'm sure their regular menu is better and reflected in regular prices. read more

Tried the dine out menu and the chicken souvlaki was pretty good. I would DEFS recommend calimari! Also, they know how to cook a steak. The value is there on Thursdays for their Greek entree specials. The portion size was good. The lamb chops were flavourful. The calamari was crispy, but greasy. I have had better calamari elsewhere. As others have reviewed, the potatoes do not have a lemon flavor. It is not the best Greek dishes I have ever had, but it is good for the area. We were seated promptly at 7:30pm. We visited this place for the first time today after seeing it for months. The interior had a nagahide old fashion restaurant smell to it and was blasting songs from the 80's. The waitress was pleasant. We ordered a side of zucchini sticks which tasted frozen and I ordered a small caesars salad as my entry. The zucchini sticks came with dipping sauce and I can't pin point the ingredients. I'm use to ranch dip. It also came with a slice of lemon with the market sticker on it which makes me wonder if the lemon was even washed. My caesars salad came with a couple of stock hearts in it. The dressing was good. My husband got the bacon cheeseburger which came on a chibata bun. He said the beef tasted frozen. It was a good place to try but we won't be back. read more

Hidden old gem!! Went for Greek night. Last time I came here was with my ex 10 years ago. I was craving moussaka so I told my current BF lets go for the $10.95 Greek night specials. For the price it was soooo worth it!! I think next time we will do the souvlaki as the portions of the moussaka wasn't as large as before. Other than that, the potato was good, salad was decent and rice was delish! Servers were super fast and always checking up on you, even though the inside as well as the patio was full! The steak was done right! And at a great price ( Monday deal for 7 oz steak 12.95) The calamari was good too although lacking the tentacles , which I like. Looking at my mothers baked potato and the accoutrements, made my roasted potato choice even more of a bummer. They were barely "roasted" and more boiled. And here I thought that not choosing french fries would be a healthier choice turns out it was way healthier to pick the potatoes because I didn't eat them. Go team diet! The only problem with that is that I'm not actually on a diet. Anyway even though the potato debacle wasn't the greatest I would still come back here. Family restaurant - a lot of my coworkers come here as we work down the street. Why not support a small business?! We got to sit anywhere, we chose a booth and our cutlery was not properly washed. There was caked on food on the fork, no big deal, it was changed and she apologized There is a big menu. And the special for the day was Greek. Apparently different specials daily. Prices are very reasonable Food comes out reasonably quick, in and out in 35mins. Mind you, we eat fast. Portions are on the larger side. I wouldn't say there's anything great about the food We shared and got the tortellini - bland And the chicken souvlaki - potato didn't have that lemon taste. This is a great independent restaurant. Decor is not fancy but the food is good. Servers are super friendly. Lots of local New Westminster folks come here.We've ordered pizzas (order it well done) very good. I've had their dinner special including the steak dinner on Monday night $14.95. It's very good and super reasonable. I like their steak better than Keg's which is 3 times the price, plus supporting independent and local restaurant! Their chicken souvlaki is good. We order delivery 1-2 times a month from Gino's during board game nights! Food is always hot, delicious, and comes quicker then expected. I love the chicken souvlaki, the chicken is perfectly cooked with a little char, the Greek salad is tasty with lots of feta, and the rice and potatoes are always mouth watering. Hubby loves the baked ravioli, which always comes with a gooey layer of cheese on top. We have never been disappointed with Gino's in the past decade! read more

Gino's is a solid, unpretentious restaurant for family dinner. I love the warm atmosphere and cozy chairs, as well as the ridiculously large wineglasses - full of red wine! The menu tries to cover a lot of ground, from pub-style appies and BBQ to Greek food and pizza to schnitzel and roasts. I get a little scared when I see an "all things to all people" menu, but knowing that the owners are of Mediterranean descent, I stuck with the Greek food. The other good thing to know about Gino's is there's a different part of the menu on special each night. Since we visited on a Sunday it was roast night - roast chicken, beef, or lamb for $14.50. Now, I never order roast in restaurants because to me there is only one roast beef, and that is my Dad's. But I stole a bite off my husband's plate and it was really quite tender. For myself I had a calamari dinner, which was delicious, though the lemon-rosemary potatoes promised were really just potatoes. They serve big portions so I had at least half my dinner to take as leftovers for lunch the next day. However, it would have been nice if they'd packed the leftovers a little more carefully, instead of mixing the salad, rice, potatoes, calamari and pita all together in one container. Otherwise the service was much improved from my last visit to Gino's. Fast, friendly, big portions of good food and mucho specials - all signs of a perfectly decent neighbourhood joint. read more

Gino's Haiku Hummus is made fresh, Grilled chicken is amazing, Want to eat it all! That about sums it up. Oh! I can't forget that their delivery is fast and the food quality is not affected. Hot and fresh each time. They happily make my Greek salad with no onions and lots of feta, it's made fresh for each order!! The grilled chicken is always perfectly cooked, moist and flavorful. Gino's is a good place to enjoy a meal if you don't mind having a TV set stuck in your face no matter which way you turn. When I go to a restaurant, it's to enjoy a nice meal, usually with some friends. The LAST thing I want to see are TV screens in my face no matter which way I turn; after all, it's supposed to be a family restaurant, not a 'sports bar'. The food at Gino's is not the best in town; but it's certainly not bad at all, and the servings sizes are, for the most part, decent. The calamari leaves a bit to be desired, as do the roasted potatoes. (Tip: if you want calamari and potatoes that are worth crossing town for, go to My Greek Restaurant (formerly Mr. Greek), just across the freeway over on Brunette Ave. Now THEY do have truly outstanding Greek food, and you aren't forced to look at a TV screen every time you look past the shoulder of the person sitting across from you.) The roast lamb dinner is just okay. In fact, most of the dishes at Gino's are just okay, but that's about all they are. They aren't bad, but they aren't memorable. In some ways, the previous style of Gino's was better (no TVs), but the new owner did do a nice job of renovating the place. Were they to remove the TV sets from the restaurant, I'd give it three stars instead of only two. The waitress service is pretty typical for this style of restaurant, and is not bad. If you end up waiting a long time for service here, then that's the exception to the rule; usually the service is fair and not too slow. The waitresses are usually very friendly and try hard to please the customers, but when things get busy, they're only human, and can only move so fast. Gino's is okay as a place to have a meal with a few friends and enjoy a beer on the side, and if (God forbid!) you actually LIKE having a TV in your face when you're at a restaurant, then Gino's may be just the place for you. But for me, it's somewhere to go when I just can't be bothered to go a bit farther for a place with better food and ambience. If you live in the surrounding neighborhood near Gino's, and if you have your own transportation, and if you have an appreciation for better quality Greek food, take the time to drive a few miles over to My Greek (always a good idea to make reservations there, as they are almost ALWAYS BUSY - you'll know why once you've tried their food!). They have the best Greek food I've had anywhere, bar NONE. But if you happen to be in the neighborhood (maybe you're shopping at the store across the street, etc), then Gino's will do. But they aren't worth driving across town for, IMHO. read more

This restaurant was recently renovated and looks quite nice inside. It also has an outdoor eating area which is great for dining al fresco in warm weather. Have ordered take-out from Gino's many times, and always had an excellent meal. The prices are good (just about average for a Greek restaurant) and the food is well prepared, hot and delicious. Portions are generous and they have a good choice of alternate selections (like substituting lasagna for rice, for example, for a small surcharge). Gino is one of my favourite lunch places. Being a family run restaurant, it has no flashy exterior or ambience. I have tried their pizzas, souvlaki, pasta, calamari, burgers, fries, soups and wraps. (No, I have not tried everything on the menu). I would highly recommend the Kalamari and Crispy Chicken Club. My favourite dish to order must be the soup and wrap combo for $8. (see picture). I had the deli wrap with creamy thai coconut soup. The wrap was good, I'm not a fan of deli, but the soup was yummy! Side note, their baked potato soup is also really tasty.
