    Calabrese pizza

Not to be confused with Olympia Pizza on Denman Street (my local), I believe at one time the two restaurants had a similar ownership. I really would like to leave a great review but unfortunately I ordered a Calabrese pizza, and it was so salty that I ended up taking most of it home. The service was great, efficient, and the taverna was clean. The problem is that I'm now looking at this leftovers box and have to decide whether to toss it out or eat it half a slice at a time

    pizza with extra cheese

Not happy with my last visit. We ordered extra cheese and didn't get it. No comment from the owner when we let them know. This place used to be better.

Recently went for dinner after not having been here for many years and as expected, still the same great location and taste! Ordered a chicken souvlaki, came out perfectly cooked and tasted juicy and delicious. Rice pilaf and Greek potato were so good too. Finally, the tzatziki and Greek salad with feta was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Overall, wonderful dish. Service was also nice. The only downsides preventing a 5-star review: - Price: $26 +tax +tip for a single chicken souvlaki dish is really getting up there in cost... too much for me to come back regularly - Pita bread was thin and compact, not puffy and airy like some pitas I've had at Greek restaurants - Outdoor seating on the street is not the greatest, due to slope of street sloping the table and chairs. Nothing can be done about that I suppose Overall, excellent tasting food but due to high cost will unfortunately not be able to return frequently... special occasions only, really. If there was happy hour pricing on the souvlaki, I'd defintely return more often.

    Keftedes dinner

This must have been at least our 3rd visit. Long time family run venue, which we love to support. The Greek meatballs were made better this time. Last time I had these they were overly salty. Service was attentive and calm atmosphere on a Thursday evening.

This is a few steps from my house. I have to say I love the pizza here its so delicious. Very generous on the cheese and the ingredients. We ordered the house special large pizza and love it so much that I am already craving for it even though just had it yesterday. Yes no kidding. It was that good. This place is always busy but again its not that big though. Its been around ever since I remember. My mom said when she was young it was already in the corner. And she used to live in the hood when she was a teenage and would love to eat there the yummy souvalaki. Must be so good or else why would she still remember. Decor is nice and clean. You will find friendly service here. Its totally worth coming. Parking might be a bit limited. Well there are street parkings but most of them have meters. Depends if you are lucky or not. I guess.

It seems that we made the mistake of ordering lasagna. It was lacking in everything other than salt. I would be curious on when it was made and placed in the container. The noodle was almost soup. I did not finish the meal. That's a stretch calling it a meal. Two lasagna and only two slices of bread ( toast ). If this is any indication of their cooking skills I will not be having their pizza any time soon.

Greek food in Vancouver is usually quite solid, and this place is no exception. Very delicious home-style cooking. Parking is available on the side streets a blocks or two away. Watched the meter maids tag several cars directly in front of the restaurant. Special mention goes to their outdoor patio. Great for the summer months. And the best part? It's on the E side of the building. In the afternoon and evenings, it means the entire area is in the shade! Staff were friendly and professional. Pricing is average, at $12-20 for most dishes. The sangria here is one of the tastiest I've had in a long time - it's just the right mix in terms of flavour. Really liked the pineapple chunks inside too. The only bad thing that happened is that the mixing spoon literally broke apart when I was stirring, so I had to pick wood bits out of the mix. Salad is a bit on the plain side - it's literally just chopped lettuce in this case. Garlic bread - a bit too baked - even the inside was crunchy. Ribs and spaghetti - beautiful. Meat was cooked just right - it peeled off the bones easily, but wasn't tough at all. The spaghetti tasted a lot like Chef Boyardee (this is a good thing). Reminds me of eating at home as a kid. Roast lamb - quantity of meat could've been a bit bigger, especially when compared to some of the competition out there. But it was also cooked just right. Special mention. Rest of the bits on the place were decent. Definitely wouldn't mind coming back at some point.

We also ordered grilled halloumi, which brought that satisfying squeak and a lightly crisped edge. A nice surprise: they sent out profiteroles on the house for us to try. It's a small gesture, but it rounded out the meal on a sweet, generous note. This Gastown souvlaki shop runs tight on space, so expect a possible wait, especially if you go at a peak time. The open kitchen gave the restaurant a lively, grill-forward energy, but it also means things can get a bit smoky while the skewers are firing.

There's an authenticity to the dinning experience and the food is elevated compared to the standard fair all around town. It's a small restaurant in Gastown. There are only a handful of tables. It feels intimate yet has a social vibe. It's really charming. We grabbed a nice little table for two. There was a menu, a water pitcher and glasses already on the table. It's not a huge menu, but the things you expect are there. Everything on the menu looked so go we wanted to try everything. Fortunately there is an "everything" platter for two people where you get to sample everything. The platter comes with pork gyro, chicken kabab, lamb kabab, greek salad, green salad and French fries. Not being a fan of lamb, we asked if we could substitute the lamb kabab for a second chicken kabab. They were accommodating and said they would happily do that, but the owner, encouraged us to tray the lamb. I could tell how passionate and proud of his food he is, and that convinced me to try it. It was absolutely the best thing on the platter. The serve was great. The food came out fast in a beautiful wooden bowl that presented the food wonderfully. Kababs can be a tough thing to get right. Often they're over cooked and dry. Which is the kiss of death for chicken and particularly lamb. These were served hot and juicy and cooked to perfection. The fries were seasoned well and crispy. The salads fresh.

From the moment we sat down, the experience was something special. They start you off with warm, grilled bread alongside a gorgeous pool of fresh olive oil, and here's the touch that sets the tone for the whole evening: the oregano garnishing that oil is cut tableside from a live plant. It's a small detail, but it tells you everything about how much this kitchen cares. We went all in on the menu and have zero regrets. The spread platter was outstanding, multiple dips, beautifully presented with soft bread, each one distinct and well-crafted. The warm marinated olives were rich and aromatic, the kind of thing you keep reaching back into. The calamari was perfectly fried, light, crispy, served with a creamy tzatziki dipping sauce. For mains, the whole lobster with fries was a showstopper, generous, fresh, and served with clarified butter and a tangy sauce. The halibut was elegant and delicate, plated with roasted vegetables and large capers in a way that felt genuinely refined. The cocktails and drink program held up beautifully throughout the meal too. This is the kind of restaurant that makes a night feel like an occasion. The food is thoughtful, the ingredients are clearly quality, and the atmosphere delivers. And Yuri, our waiter, was absolutely fantastic. If you're on the fence because of that rating -- ignore it. The experience was similar each time. The space is nice, but it was very quiet during all my lunch visits, presumably because of all the construction work on Broadway. I would assume that was why the did this promotion, to bring in cusotmers. During my visits, I tried the following: - Dip Tasters - Good. Simple, but all the dips were good - Moussaka - Good. Classic recipe. At $12,60, very good price, but not sure I would pay a full$21. - Lamb Youvetsi - Good. Good flavours. At $16.80, a good value. - Souvlaki Platter - Very good. Best value at $17.40, it was a full plate of food which I couldn't finish in one sitting. Had to take a portion home for feed myself for dinner. I will mention that during my first visit, sides weren't provided for the Lamb our Moussaka. But subsequent visits, they were, so there was some inconsistency here. But it's hard to say whether I was unlucky the first visit, or just lucky on the last two visits. Service was pretty good each time. No conerns. Considering the 40% discount offer, it was a very good deal. Good food, good service for really good prices. That's why I went three times!

The building is hidden by construction scaffolding but it's conveniently located close to Broadway-City Hall Station. It was a last-minute decision to come here, so I called about an hour before we planned on arriving to reserve a table. They were pretty busy (Saturday 7 pm) so I'm glad I called. The three of us each ordered our own dishes but shared a little bit of everything so I got to try the Beyond souvlaki platter (my dish), the grilled humboldt squid, and the lentil salad, all of which were amazing. I was really excited about the Beyond souvlaki because I love the souvlaki flavours but don't eat the usual souvlaki meats, so this was the first instance where I was able to try this sort of thing at a restaurant. The souvlaki skewer was bursting with flavour and all of the sides were delicious, the potatoes practically melted in my mouth. The lentil salad also exceeded my expectations - there was a substantial serving of lentils and lots of dill to give it a fresh herby flavour. The squid fro what I could tell (I don't eat squid very often at all) was also well-prepared, very tender and, like everything else, flavourful. Prices are not cheap but their portions are very generous. I appreciated the big vegetarian/vegan section of the menu! They even have vegan feta available as a feta substitute for the salads, so all of the vegetarian dishes except the spanakopita are or can be veganized. Our server was nice and the service was very timely. The atmosphere was calm. This was a great choice for us! I'd love to go back and really bring my appetite so I can try some dessert too!

We started with the calamari and the house spreads - we had the hummus, tzatziki, and roasted eggplant dip. It was so good that we had to order more pita bread. For our mains, we shared three different dishes: short ribs, lamb meatballs, and lamb roasted shoulder. The flavors were rich and well-seasoned. That, combined with their drinks, was a perfect match.
