Short version: I was introduced to Paliotti's through Meatless Meetup's event, and the food was so heavenly that I gorged myself here til I got into a semi-food coma state. My review for Paliottis is long overdue. So, where do I begin? The food here is so delicious AND has a *4 PAGE VEGAN MENU* to boot! I thought my friend was crazy for wanting to travel 1 hour to eat at a restaurant, but it was worth the trip. As part of the Meatless Meetup deal, we enjoyed a vegan Cesar salad and vegan lasagna for $21. (Refer to attached pic) For decades, vegan cheese has had a bad rep for not being able to stand up to the real thing. BUT, the lasagna and salad tasted like the dairy counterpart so much that I think could fool even the most die hard cheese lovers. My friends all agreed that they hit the nail on the head with their veganized lasagnas and pastas. Leave plenty of room for dessert so you can indulge in the decadent and *generous portioned* cakes. The scrumptious carrot cake I had mimicked the flavor of cream cheese without any animal products. Just try and see for yourself how good desserts are without any cows milk or eggs in them! So! The first time I visited this restaurant was about 3 years ago and I gave it a four star review. Food was good and so was the service. I don't know what happened or why, but the service here has gone downhill - like wayyy downhill. We came here tonight to celebrate my mother-in-laws birthday as she's been a long time patron - until tonight. Not just tonight, but our previous visit last summer we've had the worst service. Large group, 21 came in with reservations made over 2 weeks in advance. Worst service possible. Was there 3.5 hours, most of it waiting. Waiting for food, drinks, water refills, table clearing and cleaning and over an hour to get our bills. Blatantly ignored. Then to top it off, waitress hand wrote a forced gratuity of 20% on each bill. I would have had no problem paying this if prompt service was even attempted. Our group will not be back. First I will say the food is amazing. And if I eat here again I will get it to go But like everyone has said, the service sucks. They lost our reseRvation although I had a long conversation with the youngg man when I made it for our anniversary. I was the DD so ordered a non alcoholic drink, which they brought in a very small gLass with vodka in it Sent it back. It also took quite a long time to get service aNd tables around us got served before we did. And when we said something the salad came before the appies which arrived about hAlf way through the salad. And the young man , who was the same young man who took our reservation, seemed perturbed. It went on from there My takeaway. Watcch who your server is. Call twice to confirm your reservation Or see if they will do take out because the food is incredible. read more

Worst, and I mean THE worst service ever, hands down. This is going to be a long-winded one, but please bear with me. The sign outside read, "Two Words: Air Conditioned." On one of the hottest days of the year (39 degrees), we were relieved to see that. Couldn't have been further from the truth. As soon as we walked in, it was "tepid" in there, didnt feel that cool rush of air you normally would feel, it was just 'ok' temp wise. We had just been seated in the back (to a table I had reserved a month prior), and our party all remarked at the same time that it was pretty warm back there, and my mom noticed the vent on the wall and asked me to feel if it was cool air. it was, in fact, blowing out very hot air, not warm or slightly cool, but HOT. I went to tell the waitress that it was really hot in the back room area, and if there was another table we could sit at, as the front of the restaurant seemed a "bit" cooler, albeit still warm, and she looked at me and rolled her eyes!! I say to her, please come back and put your hand up to the vent and feel for yourself, and no word of a lie, she literally looked around and said there is no where else to sit. I said, "Well, Im not sure what's going on here, I made reservations a month ago (for a birthday) so Im not sure why we are being seated in the back room with a vent blowing hot air (my point being we didn't just roll in off the street and had to take what was available). The waitress again roller her eyes and said, "Everybody here has made reservations," and proceeded to point to every table. I then said, "Well, when I came in (in person) a month ago, whoever took my reservation commented to me that it was odd we were coming in and making a reservation for so far in advance and didn't even appear have a book to write it down in, and scribbled it on the bottom corner of a page (she even went so far as to "go ask" if it was okay). So, feeling a bit wary, I followed up 2 weeks later with a phonecall to confirm, and sure enough, they had my reservation, so that was good. Phew! We had been really looking forward to trying out this Italian restaurant (I am Italian myself) being new to Maple Ridge. Ok, getting back to the "story", I again invited the server to please come back to the room to feel the vent so she could understand my concern. In no way was I rude, mean, condescending. We then wait at the table for a good 10 minutes, she came back once in that time, put her hand up to the vent, then walked away, not saying a word. Then comes back (finally) to the table with water and said, "Well, did you decide if you're going to stay?" And, I say, "Well, you said there are no more tables, so where are we to go?" to which she said, "I meant stay in the restaurant, not this table, it seems like you aren't happy and you want to leave." Im like, "Wow, I never mentioned ONCE that I wanted to leave, I asked you to come back and please feel the vent and if therewas another table!" So, at this point, now Im starting to get irritated with her snotty attitude. She then proceeds to tell me that everyone has been "mean" to her today, and I had to interrupt her at that point and clarify, "I was not mean or rude at all! You were rude to me!" and I kind of put my hands up at that point in disbelief and kind of chuckled at the complete absurdity of how things had been so poorly handled by her and now progessed to this over a simple request, and she said, "You can sit there and stay and laugh, or you can leave" and walked away. Like seriously?! We tried to ask for a manager, no one came out, we went back (calmly) to the front area to ask again for a manager and was told he wa busy cooking. At that point, we left. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly by a server. Im a foodie, I eat out a lot and ALWAYS support small, local restaurants, but I will NEVER EVER support this restaurant again (I had ordered takeout pizzas before). If this, Paliottis, is how you run your business and let your wait staff treat people (which I have seen MANY reviews, after the fact, about your service being horrible), then I just feel total regret for you. Word of mouth travels fast, and you definitely lost out on customers for life. Absolutely ridiculous experience ever. Total fail. We called Il Corsaro and they fit us in right away, and the service was impeccable with amazing food (their sugo is on point!) i placed an order. steak lasagna and caes salad. lasagna had 6 noodles no extra cheese that I asked for. salad was dry and the steak had some kind of sauce on it. basically I got ripped off for 70 bucks. beware of this place. it's a joke read more

Very disappointing to say the least. Order took over an hour and 40 minutes. When I called to ask where my food was I asked if they were busy. I was told not too bad. When I told them I had been waiting over 90 minutes it changed to we are super busy and we have a new driver who doesn't know the area. Finally food arrives, order was wrong ( ordered chicken parmigiana and got cacciatore ) and never received my order of a large spinach salad. Was told at that point they would have to come back and bring it. I was tired of waiting and just said don't worry. Finally dig into my meal chicken is way over cooked and extremely dry. Pasta has also dry and had essentially no sauce. Was offered a $10 if I came back and they would keep track of my name and number. At this point I have zero desire to go back. It's a shame as I just moved to the area and was hoping to find a good Italian restaurant to go to. Scratch this one off the list read more

Awesome night Paliottis maple Ridge tonight ! You know... the place with that iconic roof ! Had the Cajun seafood fettuccine in rose sauce. Great pasta and loaded with crab, prawns and sausage. They hit the nail on the head with their focaccia bread. Ever since being in Italy I have searched for authentic focaccia bread which is almost impossible to find... well folks paliottis has it !!!! All over Florence and Rome you see people getting fresh made focaccia from the bakery and it is just something out of this world. read more

Went here for dinner last Friday night and were so happy with our meal and experience! The restaurant itself is homey and comfortable. It isn't fancy, but is exactly what you want from an Italian restaurant: Comfortable with delicious food! We got the Vegan menu to order from and definitely got more than we should have, but it was just too good and too hard to choose! The service was great, not too much but always there when you needed something. We will DEFINITELY be back. To eat, we had the Baked Mushroom Melt to start, along with the complimentary foccacia. The Mushroom melt is done with sliced mushrooms, so not quite like Mushrooms Neptune, but freaking delicious either way. It was so creamy & flavourful. We both also ordered a starter caesar salad to go with our mains. The caesar dressing is OUT OF THIS WORLD GOOD! Seriously, they need to bottle it. For our mains, my partner got the special vegan "Meat & Cheese" ravioli in spicy tomato sauce with crispy chicken on top. I got the homemade gnocchi in the creamy pesto sauce. Both were amazing. We particularly loved the warm spices in the ravioli, unexpected and delicious! Lastly, we finished with their cheesecake to go. It should be rated -1 star! This is among the worst restaurants I've ever been to! The server tried so hard to make our experience pleasant but, he didn't have much to work with. They have a huge menu but almost everything came out looking and tasting the same. They didn't have clean glasses for wine or soft drinks and water. The hockey game was blaring on screens throughout the place. As soon as most of our food was served the whole staff seemed to disappear... (group break ?) They started vacuuming the restaurant before we our deserts were served. It sounds funny now but it was terrible. The decor was tired, prices were on the high side for the quality of food, server was knowledgable and as obliging as he could be. Can't recommend this place. read more

This is an authentic Italian owned and operated restaurant. They treat their customers with care and serve food made well, so they have a long following. In keeping with public preference, they also have a vegan option menu, which is quite good too. They are also conveniently downtown Maple Ridge right on Dewdney Trunk Road. I've never done a restaurant review but this was so bad. Almost laughable unfortunately. No joke - the waitress literally said to us as she put our food down 'You're going to be disappointed'. Yup, you got that right. We were the only table in the place last night and our food took over an hour. i was missing ingredients from mine. I got the cajun seafood pasta and it was awful. Said it came with crab, no crab. I asked for extra spicy, it was beyond bland with no spice whatsoever. My husband got gnocci and added meatballs, she brought it out with no meatballs and said 'we're out of meatballs'. Waitress didn't come to check on us once. Not. Once. and again - no one else was there. We were actually the only table. SO BAD. SO VERY VERY BAD. Do yourself a favour and go to Il Corsaro instead. If you love real Italian food Paliotti's is the place to go!! The food is always delicious and there is plenty of it!! The italian food there is the real deal made by real Italians not by people trying to be italian, Paliotti'sThe staff are so welcoming and accommodating. The staff are excellent for making wine and food recommendations. The owner always makes a point of stopping by our table and chatting. This is a nice touch and makes you feel like family. Miserable. Life long patron, been here many times in the past, and I am just appalled by the food quality and the service I went through this evening. I ordered a minestrone soup, and it was pathetic. You could tell the soup had been thrown together to order. The vegetables, crunchy, the stock, flavourless. This is not the restaurant I grew up attending. The new owners have not carried out the Paliotti name well. The dinners that my 3 fellow patrons suffered through were no better. A boring and flavourless lasagna, a hot cappicolo veal flank(is it hot cappicolo if it's a regular sausage meat?), a undercooked seafood linguini, missing the advertised crab, did they get anything right? I have to say no they did not as even my tortellini al forno was a mess hidden under flavourless cheese left to sit in a salamander oven until it was dry and unappetizing. After sitting for an hour after ordering, our waiter who hardly dropped by our table at all told us that dinner was going to be delayed some more. This was the top place to go in Maple Ridge for so many years. It has not changed the decor or coziness of the interior, which makes it a gorgeous kitchy place to be. My husband and I have both never been here, so we ordered way too much food to try all the things we wanted and could take lots home. Bocconcini salad, escargot, penne, bacon wrapped scallops and minestrone. Everything was great! they even have vegan pasta options, which I thought was very forward thinking! Great atmosphere, great food, cozy spot, one of the best date nights we have had a a long while. Our server was even a charming girl and easily joked with us and really added to our experience. Having been to Paliotti's before I had high expectations when I took my girlfriend for a celebratory date night. However we were sorely disappointed by the "management". We were in a section to ourselves, enjoying the music, conversation and wine. We politely asked the manager if we could have the loud Canucks game off. Evidently this was far from ok. I cannot imagine why it would be a requirement, but evidently it was worth more to him than our business, despite the fact he was in the kitchen and not watching the game. Quickly this became an issue. He screamed at us, he screamed at my girlfriend. He went back into the kitchen to loudly badmouth us to his staffers, in our earshot and those of the entire restaurant. I asked for the bill before the food came. He told our waitress that we "weren't even worth it". I hadn't expected such crass unprofessionalism from Paliotti's. After a while he came back to back-peddle, he offered to move us to another section and explained that was what he had offered all along. As far as he was concerned we were leaving on our own accord... Truly I felt like I was spending my hard earned money at a place I had previously trusted with it, only to be publicly treated like dirt. The whole thing was pretty much an ordeal which quickly ruined date night. It is worth saying that the servers where very professional and kind, though they were obviously upset at their managers tantrum. The whole situation wreaked of someone who browbeats and bullies there employees. Perhaps he is a family friend to the owner, this could be my best explanation of his employment as it is certainly not based on his merits as a leader or for his customer service. I drove an hour from Vancouver just to try their new vegan Italian dinner menu, and it was so delicious! My (non-vegan) friend and I had the spinach dip, spaghetinni pesto coconut cream, lasagna with hummus, and mini banana pancakes. I can't wait to go back! First and last time going to this place. My friends birthday resos had 5 of us and we sat down at 6pm. Did not get out food till almost 8. The gentleman beside us got his steak after 10 minutes of sitting down. All we ordered was pasta. When asked the manager why it took so long she had excuse after excuse explaining why. It was pasta, no reason that should take almost 2 hours for our food. Not once apologizing for the wait, just continued telling us this is a normal wait time for them. This may be one of the best that Maple Ridge has to offer...but that just reflects how poor the offerings are in Maple Ridge...not the supposed quality of this place. Nine of us went here for dinner last night for a friend's birthday...none of us will be returning. From the service to the decor & food, nothing impressed, all were disappointing. In total, we waited more than an hour & a half for our food to arrive & no explanation was forthcoming until one of us asked an hour into the wait (no wait staff came by before then). We were then told that it was NORMAL for large tables to wait more than an hour for appies! We were told it was due to everything being hand-made...I don't think so. We were also told it was b/c they were busy...it's not a large restaurant & they had adequate wait staff. We were offered a 10% discount or a free drink to mitigate the situation...not good enough. The food was bland, tasteless and appeared to have been stuck under warmers. One of us received the wrong sauce & magically, two minutes later it was returned with the correct sauce...mixed in with the incorrect one!!! The 'free' drinks did not appear to have alcohol in them. It took more than 1/2hr after salads for mains to come out. Before we finished our meals, they were taking our plates away. The waitress reached across my plate to attempt to grab another, as I was holding a piece of bread...she then didn't take said plate from my other hand (as I had stopped her cross-reach) for another 30s or so. As I was lifting my napkin off my lap @ the end of the meal, she reached across again to take that plate & dumped the bill with her other hand. After dinner, I went to the washroom...located in the main eating area. Not only did it stink of toxic deodorizer, but the vanity was falling off the wall & the sink was falling off the vanity!!! Just had the most underwhelming spaghetti and meatball dinner in my life. My wife and I split their large spaghetti and meatballs (17.95+2.00 to split) and after the 40 minute wait to get our order, we received a small bowl of spaghetti with 1 meatball (1/2 a meatball on each plate). I don't recommend that entre, and I'm beginning to wonder if Paliotti's deserves my business in future. read more

Celebrated a birthday dinner here, everyone was so welcoming. The service was great, the food was great. Everyone at our table enjoyed it. The portion size is perfect, most of us had leftovers packed up. I would recommend to anyone looking for some italian. The rose sauce is incredible. read more

This is some of the best pasta that I have ever tasted. This small restaurant is in the middle of Maple Ridge and does not look like a top knotch restaurant but the food will blow you away. The pastas are reasonably priced and the portions are generous. Try the Calimari to start with the Cajun Chicken Penne or the Curry-In-A-Hurry for a delicious night out. read more

We came here last night for dinner, and had made a reservation. Our waitress sat us and took our order and then we didn't see her again until an hour and a half later, which is when we finally received our food. We were sat at 7, and received our dinner at 8:30. We understand things happen, and if our waitress had bothered to come back to our table and give us some sort of explanation or apology it would have been fine.
