Five stars for the service and vibes. The food is good but not amazing but you forget that bc the service is so good!! Truly epic staff and amazing establishment. They have a couple lunch specials, including a mini pizza and salad and some other pasta you don't see on the regular menu. There were four of us, and this location is amazing. It's right a block up from Kitsilano Beach. We got the kale salad (they are supper accommodating and can do anything on the side). And we got two pastas (the arrabiata was great and the bolognese was good (I thought it was just fine - the bolognese was too pork forward). I really enjoyed their focaccia bread. It did taste a little bit like a chewy naan. They cut it up into triangle pieces and the olive oil and balsamic that they bring is of excellent quality and honestly, the salad is probably my favorite thing on the menu as well as the Arrabiata. We also got the pizza to share and the sauce and cheese was good - they do not skip on their pepperoni. The prices are super good for it being so beach front. The aperol spritz was also good (it came in a regular class but it was good). The interior is so much bigger than you think in the bathrooms were super clean and nice. You can also see them baking the focaccia and pizzas. I am sure they're better Italian places in the city, but truly the service here was so above and beyond that it is a five star experience for me.
Nook as a chain of restaurants is great. Honestly very tasty food and drinks for what could be considered "just another trendy spot". Awesome value for their happy hour and in general, their pastas take the cake for me! The Kits location has a lovely open concept dining room with mirror walls to make the space feel bigger, and a cute patio as well. Unfortunately, service at this location is not so nice. Of the two looking after our group of 8, one appeared to be a manager and both were extremely rushed. Impatient with orders and questions and my least favourite - over clearing ! As a server myself, I understand that things can feel hectic at times and flipping tables often means more money. However, I believe that keeping seated guests comfortable comes first. Important to note: we sat for about 2 hours and were not given a seating time limit. When it came to getting bills, items were not sorted well and it was apparently too difficult for myself to add the birthday girls appy to my bill. Either a reflection of the hectic service or a sign that some training on their point of sale is needed!
This is a bit epitome of comfort food. Fairly classic food done well. Service is easy going but sufficiently attentive. Ambience is also fine, home comfort Definitely give the whipped ricotta a try if you like honey on toast. Feel like a perfect breakfast. Rigatoni Boscaiola is great but a bit heavy.
This place has a good italian vibe to it. No doubt its a busy place because of its amazing ambience and good food. I think the food tastes much more delicious if you pair it with right wine. I was no wine expert but the servers were excellent in their recommendations. Even though the place was busy but service was fast. I loved the alfredo black pepper pasta. Oh yeah! We got the big table in front, so it was like a community experience of enjoying the new company and the great food. If you are going solo, I think that will be an excellent table.
My husband and I drove to Vancouver from Seattle to celebrate our 3 year wedding anniversary. This was the first restaurant we've been to in Canada and it was wonderful. The food was affordable, our waitress (Kristy) was friendly and fast, and $27 was taken off of our bill because of a mistake. We will definitely be back.
The food was really delicious!! Had the Rigatoni Arrabbiata and it was amazing. The aperol spritz did not let me down. The area was cute and inviting. The service was excellent and friendly. Would highly recommend this place if you are in the area!!
We ordered takeout for our Saturday night dinner tonight! Our usual location is the original on Denman, but alas it is closed due to COVID :-( We ordered the Caesar salad, the mushroom & pancetta 'za with roasted garlic added; and the pepperoni 'za with olives & mushrooms added. Everything was ready very quickly (15 minutes?), and it travelled well. It was delicious, thanks everyone at Nook!!
This is a cute place for brunch. The food is good and service is decent. However, menu changes at brunch and there is no pasta. My friend and I both had pizzas. I had the breakfast bacon pizza and my friend had the margherita pizza. Both were pretty good. The server was nice. We didnt know there was extra charge for the cheese, which I think is ridiculous considering the food price. The server did compliment the cheese after we disclosed that we didnt know there was extra cost for it. I will come back again.

I am not a huge Italian/pizza fan but dang this place is good! My boyfriend and I split the ricotta pizza (with extra ricotta and garlic) and the Caesar salad. The pizza was incredible! The crust was the perfect combination of fluffy, crunchy, and thin/Italian. The toppings were very generous and overall so so good! The caesar wasn't our favorite since the anchovy and olives were strong for our preference (we aren't very fond of either). Our friends got the margherita pizza and the gnocchi. They loved both dishes but the gnocchi was the winner since it was perfectly cooked and full of flavor! Would definitely come back again!
This restaurant doesn't take reservations, and always seems to have a lineup to get in. We went early and got a table prior to the theatre outing. We ordered a salad special of arugula, avacados, pumpkin seeds, citrus etc. with a truffle oil dressing, the salad arrived wet with browned endive leaves also thrown in, it was flavorless and unappealing to eat in it's saturated state. We both opted for pasta dishes, I the Orecchiette with sausage and my husband the Tonnnarelli Cacio Pepe. Maybe we're spoiled with delicious pasta dishes, but after two or three bites, we paid and left it in our bowls, there was no tlc in the preparation of either pasta dish, over peppered in both, one with actual pepper, the other with fat ribbons of chili peppers (nobody knew how to mince?) The other annoyance was a pathetic sound system playing heavy metal, and with concrete floor and other hard surfaces, the reverberating noise level with everyone shouting to talk was jarring on our nerves. A sad date night for dinner overall.

I first tried out Nook for the first time, post Covid-19 about two years ago in North Vancouver at the Shipyards. It was an unmemorable experience due to what most restaurants & businesses at that time were trying to get over. The lingering effects of the pandemic were devastating to this industry & others. What had been done to all, especially the restaurant industry - shortage of staff, difficulty rehiring, cost to run businesses escalating rapidly etcetera ... made things difficult to get over. So I found eating there at that time to be kinda boring. Move over to today - 2025 & voila - what a difference. There's something on point about the vibe here at this location - Kitsilano (Kits) Beach. Our server was awesome & funky. The Kale salad delivers 100% on taste = tremendous! The Gnocchi - munch, chew & chew = ahhhh. The Sausage & Chili pizza was done right! The crust was thin & tasty. The ingredients were delicious. This one has a slight kick to it. We had a splendid time eating at the communal table (full house this afternoon & only table available or wait 1 hour) & thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. This is a cozy location where the cool people come to eat & be seen. Italian themed but so much more. If you're down here at Kits Beach & with a group of friends - I highly recommend you pop in! read more

It really sad to write this our favorite pizza place isn't as good as before. Have been here at least half a dozen times since discovering it a year or so ago but somehow tonight Nov 2022 the food has dropped from A to C. Not failing grade as service is still good but the chicken liver toast, margherita isn't as good. Hope the consistency will return... read more
Great place for pizza and pasta To start, we ordered the burrata and heirloom tomatoes with toast appy, and added an order of procscuitto. It was very refreshing and tasty. The toast was the star here The tonnarelli with cacio e peppe pasta was very simple and tasty. It was quite salty, reminded us of Italy! We also ordered the margherita pizza and homemade sausage pizza. The best part was the crust! Not too greasy but crispy We finished dinner by 7pm on a weekend and by that time there was a lineup since they dont take reservations. Great area to walk it off read more

Tried the prosciutto and burrata this time which was AMAZING. Had my usual gnocchi and meatballs which is the best thing there in my opinion. Finished off my meal with the chocolate budino which is ready but not too heavy. LOOOVVE. read more

have been coming to this nook for awhile now and it is always delicious and the service is fantastic. went for my 21st bday last week and had the best experience!!! kristy served my boyfriend and i and she was so charming and personable- absolutely loved her!! all of our food was amazing, as always, and we each got a mocktail... which were so good (i've tried most of their cocktails too, which are also great- i'm just not a big drinker!)!! highly recommend this restaurant, particularly this location, and kristy is amazing! read more
Brunch mushroom pizza hit the spot!!!! I'm not gunna lie when I came in this afternoon haggard and hungry. I was kind of bummed by the brunch menu, instead of their regular menu. Their loud chatter ambiance also put me a bit on edge due to my hangry mood... but our waiter was cheerful, patient and the mushroom breakfast pizza peaked my interest. I requested to have tomato sauce base instead of cream and the chef obliged (big thumbs up). The pizza was fresh mushroom, fontina cheese, piles of arugula and a cracked egg in the middle. It was so satisfying that my hangry mood melted away. Notes on their dinner menu: My partner and I have been there quite a few times for dinner. I personally love ordering the combo of their focaccia bread and their gnocchi with baby meatballs. Their focaccia isn't like any other focaccia that Iv ever had! But it works in its own way. It's super light flavourful and satisfying. As for the gnocchi: they are served with a slightly spicy tomato sauce and the gnocchi are perfect consistency. I've ordered both time and time again, and they are both consistently good. read more
Very nice ambiance, seems to be a great family restaurant. Most of the people there at the same time as us were families but maybe that's just because we went for a very early dinner haha The menu was very concise, thought it was a drinks menu at first tbh. No pictures :( also, I'm terrible at remembering the names of Italian dishes so I basically could not read the menu... but the staff was quite helpful in offering suggestions and explaining what's in each dish. The staff were actually overly attentive, came by to check if we were ready to order like 5 times in 5 minutes. It was also a little weird because someone brought us the menus and a different person explained the menu and a different person took our order and a different person brought the food and a different person brought us the bill. The next time you want to be spoiled go to Nook on Yew. You are greeted like a regular when you arrive and are never neglected , more then a 'how was the first bites as the server runs away' ! Brunch menu was different then anything we had ever seen but server happy to explain and offer suggestions. We shared the Italian breakfast with an extra egg, terrific!!!! We have been once before for the weekday menu and will be back for anything they serve. read more

During our long overdue trip to Vancouver (thank you Canada for opening up the border; wish the US was returning the favor), we ventured out to Kitsilano on Sunday and stopped in Nook for lunch. I knew we were in for a good experience when we were one of 4 groups waiting to be seated when they opened. Nook and the team working there did not disappoint! Comfortable atmosphere; warm and genuinely helpful service and amazing food! We had the Caesar salad which had real anchovies in the dressing. It was a great balance of flavors and textures. We also shared the mushroom pizza and it was off the hook delicious! Crust was thin and excellent and the toppings were incredible. Don't add or change a thing, it's just right the way it is. Cocktails and wine by the glass were well done too. We will definitely go back! read more

Wow!!! Absolutely yummm is all I can say! My first time here and am blown away. I must say this may be the only place i will like the spaghetti bolognese. I am usually not a big fan of red sauce pasta, but decided to try Nook's since review's been awesome. The spaghetti bolognese was indeed really good - lighter on the sauce and very tasty with lots lf fresh grade parmesan on top of it. The tonnarelli cacio pepe though no meat, but was really good. Cooked al dente with some arugula in there and lots of fresh graded parmesan cheese on top. Meatbàll were great too - once gain the sauce is just right: not too much tomato in there. Server was polite, knowledgeable and gave great recommendations for wine to pair with the food we ordered. Go early if you are going for dinner. This place is packed and since they were so packed, service wasn't too great. Nonetheless, the food makes up for it. Definitely my new favorite place!!! read more
BRUNCH; We tried to come for dinner last weekend but had to pass due to the hour long line up outside, so when the opportunity for brunch came up we were on it. The place looked cool and cozy, with enough space to accommodate the kiddies so that was good. However, when it came time to order, our server made things INCREDIBLY difficult for me to the point that I was rather upset by the time I was done! Now I get that some places may not do substitutions and such, but as a visibly pregnant person I was trying to find a way to get some form of a well done egg put on the side of a breakfast pizza. It's an EGG! Seriously, this guy told me I could only have such a well done egg with the sandwich because it came with it and the kitchen wouldn't provide it as a side to the pizza. He went on to tell me multiple times that my pizza would be burnt should I have an egg that is not runny with it and that he'd have to check with the kitchen if a well done egg could be given on the side as they typically don't do so, only with the sandwich..... But if it physically can be done for one order, why not with this? He proceeded to make me feel like it was a huge problem to ask for. How could such a simple request for an understandable reason be made so darn difficult, leaving me a little shell shocked and rather upset by the end of it? The table was shocked too and tried to apologies for it! The initial encounter made it almost annoying at how good the food actually was! The pizza was worth sticking out the painful order process and no doubt would be quite delicious with this famous 7 minute egg with a "lava" yolk the server almost refused to substitute! Everyone else enjoyed their meals too, both breakfast pizzas, a regular pizza and breakfast sandwich. Will we be back to try their regular menu, at some point? Absolutely. Will we be avoiding this particular server if we come to this location and catch sight of him? Absolutely! Will we be talking about it and telling others of both the good food and this ridiculous ordering fiasco? Absolutely!! - kid friendly, I'd say yes. High chairs and crayons, though I didn't see a change table. - pregnancy friendly, NO! - accommodating with food needs, I highly doubt it - oh and there's no tea or drip coffee at brunch either just fyi Hopefully you're experience is overall better than mine!! read more

This is an amazing restaurant. Food was really yummy and service was great! You need to wait a bit - a really long time depending on when you go lol We went on a Thursday night, still a 10-15 min wait but they offered to get us drinks if we wanted. It was a nice touch! Get the Ginbucha (gin and kombucha) it's so yummy! We also got the spaghetti Bolognese (SO YUM!!) And the homemade sausage pizza, also really good! read more
Service is top notch. Although, we came for brunch. No pastas, dissapointing. We knew it will be okay because their pizza were great. The breakfast skillets are just okay. Breakfast pizzas are awesome. Not coming back for brunch but will do so for times they serve pasta. read more
