I enjoyed a 5oz white wine, and my friend ordered the "Zenzero," which is a refreshing lemon-ginger seltzer. We shared the Margherita pizza, which was the perfect size for two. I loved the simple flavors and the texture of the crust--you really just can't go wrong with a Margherita! Since I love a bit of heat, I drizzled on some chili oil as well. Stopped here for lunch with the family. I've been to Nook a couple of times before, I and always felt it was always a solid choice. On this visit we had: - Focaccia: Good. This isn't served in a typical fashion. It basically looks like their pizza crust, and it's buried in grana padano. Kids loved it. - Prosciutto Pizza: Good. Crust is done very well - just strong enough to hold everything together and ideal texture. - Rigatoni Boscaiola: Good. Best pasta dish of the meal. Great flavours. - Gnocchi with Baby Meatballs: Good. I loved the idea of getting gnocchi with meatballs. It was good, but have had better gnocchi. - Spaghetti Bolognese: Good. We found this place just walking by, and it had the most amazing food! The servers were so helpful and friendly, explained everything for our friend that has a dairy allergy. The staff was very friendly and seated us right away. It was happy hour and we ordered the focaccia and wine. The focaccia came out warm and buttery topped with fresh shredded parmesan cheese. Would go back just for the focaccia. We also ordered the sausage and chilli pizza that can feed more than one person and the rigatoni Boscaiola. The rigatoni had mushrooms, prusciotto and sundried tomatoes but didn't have any sauce ( it tasted oil based). We had alot of food leftover to pack for a party of two. Love the lively ambience and avoiding the crowds during happy hour times. Nook has great fresh pasta and pizzas that are well executed but on our last visit a few weeks ago the service was a bit lacking. We had just gone to Happy Hour oysters at Xpress in Chinatown but were still hungry so decided to order burrito with prosciutto, a pepperoni pizza and pasta to share between my boyfriend and I. We were immediately greeted and were seated within a few minutes, which was great. The server seemed to be slightly annoyed that we didn't order drinks and only ordered 3 dishes. While she did her job she didn't chat or checked in with us like the other two tables next to ours. We also had to flag her to get our waters refilled once. This is a local joint near Kit Beach. It is not cheap!!! The space is cozy with indoor and outdoor seating with patio heaters. Given that they managed to fit a lot of people in the space, it is a bit loud. I would describe the food as having two highlights: the wood fired pizzas and the creative pastas. They also make their own in-house sausage, which you will see in some of the dishes, and we tried it on one of their pizzas. On special was a spaghetti with njuda and kabocha squash and mushrooms. The dishes have a homemade feel and are not run of the mill. Some of the prices are due to a larger portion of burrata cheese. For drinks, they have rotating beers on tap plus wine list and cocktails. Food came fairly fast. Staff is friendly but not super experienced or polished. Kale salad - actually pretty good, a touch more acid than I like but nice balance of textures. And the kale was well-trimmed, no tough bits. meatballs - pretty good, a little pricey. Juicy and lots of sauce, but not served with any bread which seemed weird. Just meatballs on their own. Spaghetti Puttanesca - one of my fav things to make at home. Their noodle texture is spot-on. But too heavy-handed with the salt and anchovies so the dish is overly salty. Tiramisu - good but a touch dry. Metered parking on the street. theyre probably a 3.5/5, but i cant give half stars. Theyre better than 3/5, not quite 4/5 overall. But I think this would be a nice place for a plate of pasta, or a pizza with a beer on a weeknight or a nicer lunch, and depending on what you order, has potential to be a 4/5. read more

Delicious food and great service! This location is our go-to spot - It's clean, spacious, and there usually isn't much of a wait. We started with the chicken liver crostini which was packed with flavour and just so good. I'll probably be reordering this dish every time I come back! For our mains we almost always pick something off of their daily special menu. This time, the pasta was orecchiette with roasted corn and double smoked bacon and the pizza was a tomato base with roasted garlic, red onion, and double smoked bacon. The pasta didn't have too much bacon but it was still delicious and was a pretty light dish. The pizza had a nice smokey flavour and was my preferred main of the night. Over our many visits, Nook has been consistent in their food and service. I've heard good things about Nook so for dinner, N wanted Italian so I suggested we give them a try. They have three other locations in town (Kitsilano, downtown (West End) and North Vancouver). Didn't realize they also run Tavola and Oddfish. This one is located close to Ophelia Kitchen and The Flying Pig. We dropped in on a Friday evening (around 7:00pm) and it was packed. Write your name on the wait list. Luckily, we only waited about 20 minutes to grab a table. I will give them props for not rushing you once you've been seated. Service is friendly and they're constantly coming by to refill waters. Food also comes out surprisingly fast. The menu consists of salad, crostini, antipasto, house made pastas and pizza. They dropped off a bottle of chili oil and chili flakes for the table. - Aperol spritz ($13.00) - Ginbucha ($13.00) - ddn't find this good at all. Barely tasted any 'booch. A waste of $ if you ask me. - Arugula ($16.00) - salad was decent but something you could make at home. Small portion. - Orecchiette ($25.00) - sounded great on paper but flavours were bland. N thought it needed salt. We used the chili oil to add some flavour. The rapini was mushy and we didn't taste any fennel. Again, a small bowl of pasta for the price. - Gnocchi ($25.00) - this was the best dish that we ordered. Gnocchi was soft and pillowy. Meatballs were moist and flavourful. Don't get the hype on Nook. Went to Nook this week and they are open for dine-in. There's a few tables outside as well that are nice before the sun sets and becomes too cold. I think they're doing a great job in keeping everyone safe. They process one group at a time, ensuring everyone sanitizes and checks temperature. Their menus are also paper one time use. All the protocols helped lessen the anxiety. They usually take reservations online for a few seating times a night but also take walk-ins. I called a few minutes ahead just to make sure there was room before paying for parking. The place felt pretty busy (i.e. there were many groups waiting to check in for their reservations) but definitely was not at full capacity. There was plenty of space between every table inside as well. The food was amazing as expected! I absolutely love their pasta :) The servers were also very friendly. The arugula salad had big slices of shaved parmesan that melded with the dressing. The gnocchi looked like little plump pillows surrounded by baby meatballs. The meatballs were a tad on the spicy side, but did not detract from the taste. I really also liked the prosciutto pizza with arugula and roast garlic. Seating on the wall can get a bit cramped when it's busy. Service was very friendly and attentive. While we were waiting in line, the staff periodically came outside to give us time estimates, which was very nice of them! We ordered the meatballs, rigatoni boscaiola, and housemade sausage pizza. Everything was delicious. The meatballs were hearty and spiced well. The pasta was cooked perfectly (al dente) and the sauce was creamy without being runny, though we thought there could have been a *tad* more bacon. Tried to go out for my bubble-mate's birthday, we were only comfortable doing outside seating, but it was super super windy and everyone was closing their patios. We tried maybe 5 places before arriving at Nook, just about ready to give up, but thankfully they were totally willing to seat us outside, and even moved 3 of their heaters to surround our table. Service was fantastic all around. They take temperature at the door and it looked like their tables inside were well spaced. Even though we only ended up here because no one else would have us, we were really happy with the food and I'd be glad to go back under normal circumstances. I had the ricotta pizza. It was very tasty, and I liked the addition of the black olives to the classic white pizza toppings, it gave a nice contrast between sweet/creamy and salty flavours. Was really excited to try Nook, but it was overall very much just ok. Not bad by any means, but nothing special like I expected. I got a variety of dishes, and each was good but I found it to be overpriced for what it was. My boyfriend who I ate with also shared this feeling - moderately good/ok food with high hype. We really wanted to like it, but we were sadly a little disappointed. Again, it was not bad, it was better than average food, but just didn't live up to the standards we have. That being said, the atmosphere is lovely, and service is kind, so I can see what the appeal is in enjoying some time here. I may try it again for these redeeming qualities. read more

I was planning on having a post-work get together with some colleagues and the atmosphere of the place was super laid back and it seemed like everyone in the place was having a great time! We decided on ordering a couple of pizzas to nosh on. We ordered a mushroom pizza to start (22.00). The crust on both pizzas, although doughy in appearance, were very crispy! The mushrooms were very juicy and the saltiness of the pancetta paired well with them. The ricotta pizza (20.00) was also quite interesting. The spinach was delicious and the use of garlic and salty olives offset the slight sweetness of the ricotta well. Wow! This was my first time at this location. We came in for my husband's last minute birthday dinner. We didn't make reservations... And seeing as it was Monday we didn't think the wait would be too long. This was literally the only restaurant that was full as we walked by to get there. Lol We ordered the pizza on special with sun-dried tomatoes, pesto base, riccota , sausage nut free pesto which was awesome because my husband's allergic! This pizza should definitely be a regular on their menu it was delicious! Our friends tried the mushroom pizza but, I liked ours way better. Not sure which type of mushrooms they used but, it had a real wild mushroom taste.. like foraged from the woods lol I like my regular button mushrooms . They enjoyed it though. Just my personal preference! If you're mushroom crazy then you'd probably prefer this one. We also had the Spaghetti Bolognese which our friend highly recommended. Yup it was a good choice ! Normally there can be quite a lineup but we went around 9:45pm and were seated without a wait. This one here is definitely a lot roomier than the one on Denman, the vibe is more cosy & rustic, great setting for a date or with a large group. Would definitely recommend coming during non-peak hours. Came here once on a Saturday night around 8pm and waited 1 hour for 3 people. However on a Monday night around 7pm there was no wait! Now onto the food, every time I've been here the good is so good! Service is also very friendly. Definitely try their pizza & pasta for sure! For the money this restaurant is a rip off. I've given it a number of tries ...all locations and honestly they need to up their game ! You literally get 1/2 cup max pasta with minimal sauce and not very exciting sauce at that for $25-30. The crustini is pretty good but it's on 2 sm toasted pieces of basic white bread with ricotta a drizzle of honey and a couple of hazelnuts. $$$$$ Compare this to medina's it's a 0/10. The Cesar salad is the worst I've ever had for $16 The ambiance is great and the servers super nice. It's just a rip off unfortunately. read more
