If you come during lunch time, like I did, you could get one of the lunch specials, which is reasonably priced and high quality. I got the spaghetti bolognese and upgraded to a kale salad. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of the salad, and both the salad and the spaghetti tasted fresh with excellent ingredients. Staff were friendly and attentive as well. Abysmal. Knew something was up on entering and seeing wait staff all dressed for an afternoon of yard-work or cleaning out the garage. Sat down and asked for a vodka martini. No can do, not on the cocktail list which the server shows me. There's an espresso martini which has vodka. I guess adding vermouth and a couple of olives would tax the tender's skills. Spaghetti bolognese edible but I've had better in pubs. Cappuccino was good but my request for sugar seemed to go over as unusual with the server. On paying the bill said server switched into android voice: "Thanksverymuchhaveagoodrestofyoureveninggoodnight." Cute Italian restaurant at a great location in north vancouver. We were wandering around the shipyards at Happy Hour and hoping for a patio to enjoy the sunset while also staying casual. We stopped in on a whim and were really happing with Nook! Overall decent service, polite and mostly responsive, though they did disappear for just a bit in the middle of our meal, (which wouldn't be a big deal, but there was no one else wandering around, and we were hoping for a second round of drinks.) The pizza was pretty good, though a bit greasy. The meatballs were good, but our favorite was the appetizer with burrata and prosciutto - already a match made in heaven, but quality prosciutto and creamy burrata. While it's not my favorite Italian food in Vancouver, we still left happy and full! The real highlight was the sunset as we sat outside. Overall, this is a great place if you want to stop at the shipyards for some pizza, particularly with a group or when it's warm enough to sit outside. read more

I've been to Nook in Olympic Village several times and have not been disappointed. I enjoy their pizzas, pasta and appetizers! This location was subpar as compared to the other locations. Perhaps it was because the Night Market was going on and they were busy which is understandable. We sat outside and service was slow. I had ordered my favorite, Prosciutto and Burrata appetizer with toast points. It was the world's smallest Burrata ball so was very disappointed. The pepperoni pizza was fairly greasy, and the food overpriced. I would recommend visiting during happy hour to get some discounts. read more

I've been to Nook Olympic Village before and had a great experience, so we decided to try the Shipyard location since we were in the area for the Christmas market. The place was extremely busy, which was expected, and I had no problem waiting. When we arrived, I spoke to a gentleman I'm assuming restaurant front of the house manager--about putting our name on the waitlist. He told me, "We aren't doing a list at the moment," which was the first time I'd heard of that. I asked how they determine who's next, and he simply pointed to his head, which was unprofessional and showed he had no idea who was waiting or who had left. He had no way of knowing who was still there or outside. This is a very poor way to handle the situation. I've always loved Nook, and I believe the food would have been excellent, but this experience left a bad impression and I won't return to that location. It's simple--just record names and phone numbers and serve people in order. We spoke to others outside who had been waiting over 50 minutes; they couldn't even leave the area because the manager didn't know if they were still there. I feel bad for them, especially with children waiting. Even if the wait was an hour, I still would have gone to Nook, but waiting there without any clear system is unacceptable. People should be able to walk around and kill time, especially with the Christmas market nearby. Sorry I would not go this location anytime soon. read more

Family dinner at the Shipyards location of Nook Restaurant . We ordered a variety of appetizers, salad, pastas and pizza for the table. Reviews for this restaurant are generally quite good, but I have to admit that some of the dishes on our table were quite disappointing. No complaints about any of the appetizers or salad, and the pizza was fantastic (Margherita pizza and Anchovy pizza); however, the pasta dishes turned out to be quite unremarkable. If you're in the mood for pizza and some tasty appetizers, then this restaurant is a wonderful place to come to. One thing that did impress me was seeing that the bottle of water on our table was an Avalon milk bottle. I was really happy to see them reusing the milk bottle for water. Eco friendly options score brownie points with me! We had an amazing dinner! The food was so delicious! It's a great place to share so you can try lots of dishes ! We had the Caesar salad to start, it's not a traditional Caesar but it was delicious! The Mushroom & Pancetta pizza was amazing ! We also had the Cacio Pepe pasta which was very good too! The Margaritas were amazing and served in a good sized glass! For starters, we had the excellent arugula salad and whipped ricotta. The orecchiette was also very good and had a deep, rich flavor. My favorite part of the meal, however, was the tiramisu and cappuccino. They know how to brew a wonderful cup of coffee. read more

Came in Sat night, 10mins to 10pm. It looked like they were closing? I thought they were closing at 11pm per the Yelp schedule. However, they did let me in. Sat at the bar, was able to order my cacio e pepe, light lager on tap per rec by the bartender. I was able to add the mini meatballs with marinara sauce. Not sure if because I came in at closing, but the meatballs and cacio was a tad bit salty for me. My aunt however did not have any issues with the meatballs, in fact, she loved it! But the service? Amazing! I give the food a 3.5 and staff service that night was a 5! They were all very nice and accomodating! read more

We made a reservation to go to Nook one evening after we realized we would be spending some time down by Lonsdale. I've always wanted to try this place out as they're really busy. When we arrived, we were greeted by a host and was asked to wait outside for 15 - 20 minutes (due to COVID). As soon as we sat down, we were not surprised by the amount of diners around us and the bustling of the restaurant. We decided to share a couple appetizers, and a few mains to share. For starters we got the chicken liver crostini as well as the meatballs. The crostini, while creamy and flavourful, was a tad bit pricey IMO, but that being said, it was probably the best dish that evening. The meat balls were tender but overall not very memorable. For our mains we got the prosciutto pizza, the crust was great, perfectly cooked. The pastas were also cooked to Al dente, and had plenty of sauce. Overall the atmosphere is great if you enjoy the bustling places, maybe not for a first date though. Service was prompt and on point. Will definitely go back and try other things on their menu. read more

Fantastic. Really impressed with this cozy Nook on the North Shore. All the COvID protocols in place. Felt well protected in that respect. Nice view of the downtown Vancouver skyline. Fireplace on the patio. Good selection of local microbrews on tap. Excellentlt currated wine list, designed for the mostly Italian menu. We shared a Ceasar salad to die for. With anchovies, which is what takes a Ceasar to its true height, IMHO. Then we had the mushroom pancetta pizza, which was very yummy, Napoli style, on a thin crust, hot from the oven. Eat this fresh or leave it behind. This is not the type of pizza for leftovers. The Chianti we chose went well both with the pizza and the delicious dark chocolate mousse dessert, layered with a salted caramel mousse. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Came here after the meat and cheese festival because we were craving the rich delicious pizzas they offered here. Luckily we came around 2pm so there wasn't much of a line, but it was such a good call coming here! (Swipe for menu). * Procuitto ($25) ~ This pizza was handsdown exactly what I was craving, it was delicious and rich and flavourful. The crust was not oily, but it was chewy and not too thick. The proscuitto was salty and generous layer and I loved the argulua pairing. 100% recommend dipping this in their chilli oil because it was a chef kiss combo. The roast garlic on top was the cherry on top because it was exactly what perfected the pizza. * 10/10 ~ I really liked the pizza, it was good and not too oily and procuitto, all its missing is a side of burrata!!!! A good place to get a pizza to share. * 7/10 ~ its not cheap here an entire pizza was $25 before tax for 8 slices, but a good item to share with friends. I had a ricotta pizza with arugula and olives and roasted garlic - was sooo good I ate the whole thing. My partner had the anchovies pizza and he enjoyed his as well. It was very uncomfortable to see most, if not all, of the staff here not wear any masks or face coverings. However, Nook did have good physical distancing of tables in their indoor dining area. Food wise, their pizza was superb as always - we ordered their special of the day with pancetta, Gorgonzola cheese, and figs. The pizza had a nice crisp and the toppings all complimented each other. It was a nice touch to see Nook use fresh figs instead of a jam or preserve. Their pasta, on the other hand, was lacklustre. Ordered the orecchiette and found the dish lacking flavour and was very soggy. The pasta was also undercooked and tough to chew. Definitely not worth the $25 price point... Overall, pretty disappointed in this dining experience. There are definitely places in Vancouver with better service and quality at the similar price point. read more

I love coming into Nook, we usually get Dani as our server or ask for her cause she is awesome! She is so friendly and sweet. She helps us pick wines that pair perfectly with our meals or a nice bottle. Her service is always seamless, we just wanted to share. Coming here was pretty much a happy accident to put it in easy terms. We were walking around the shipyards, no plans to eat, just talking and walking when all 3 of us decided "yeah, I can eat". We walked up and asked how long the wait would be for a walkup (I recommend making a reservation here for sure) and we were told a table was available at that moment. Weren't we some lucky ducks? After glancing over the menues that we were provided (they also have QR codes on the tables so you can view on your phone) I settled on the tonarelli cacio pepe. I've been wanting to try cacio e pepe for a long time now and when it arrived, I instantly began to salivate. I held off on digging straight in only because my husband and his aunt's food hadn't arrived yet but did a few brief minutes later. AND BOY WAS IT GOOOOOOD!! The perfectly cook on the noodle only made it that much better. I will definitely be coming here in the future. Our server was very attentive and I gave her a huge compliment on the food. read more

Anything with burrata or ricotta and you can't go wrong! Pizza = shareable size, so the $20+ cost is easier to digest. Not sure why the pasta plates are the same price...? Nice menu selections for food and drinks so definitely recommend. read more

Horrifying service! I still can't get over how we were treated today just because I had packed a healthy lunchbox for my toddler! The old guy came over and bitterly said you cannot bring outside food into the restaurant. I told him I only brought a small lunchbox for my toddler and that we had just ordered food for the table. He repeated himself saying he'd "allow it this time". Once we were leaving I told him this was the only time anyone had ever told me we couldn't bring food for our toddler, esp. when the restaurant doesn't even have a lunch menu. He got very irritable and said "Where do you draw the line? At 10?" I didn't want to argue with him so we left. Just wish we hadn't tipped cause a service this horrible should never be accepted or tolerated. Very disappointing cause I used to like their food. So just need to say Nook at the shipyards is AMAZING! Fresh Italian pastas and to die for pizza. I'm gluten free and their pastas have twice now blown my mind, and I'm fussy! Dine in on their amazing patio with downtown views and a million heaters or take out/DoorDash/Ubereats etc they do it all!!! They catered to the kids, have amazing service, and the loveliest staff! Just a shout out for a rad local business... I can get stuck in my routine and so super happy someone suggested Nook and made me break the pattern! You won't be disappointed!!! read more

Ordered for takeout last night as I'd heard good things about other locations. Flavours were ok in the orechiette+sausage and the gnocci+meatballs but everything came swimming in oil! We also ordered the meatball starter and caesar salad. Caesar salad was good but meatballs were also sitting in about an inch of oil. Made for a really heavy and unpleasant meal. Maybe these dishes just don't transition well to take out but for $100 (including tip) we were disappointed and won't be coming back. read more

We were looking to book two tables for our family to celebrate Father's Day, a birthday, a high school graduation and a farewell and they went out of their way to ensure we were in close proximity to each other to allow for Covid-19 seating restrictions and still allow us all to interact and engage with each other.
