There were five of us so we got appies and mains and you best believe I tried everyone's plate so I could do a proper review! I ordered the mocktail mezcal margarita and it was okay, needed more of the margarita flavour, didn't have the flavour of mezcal that I love altho I know it's non alch so not going to be the same. It was refreshing though! For appetizers we got the: * Whipped ricotta and eggplant caponata - 10/10 so good! Had a nice kick of spice too on the finish. * Squash and apple salad - 7/10 - really great portion size. * Warm olives - 10/10 no notes and such a good portion as well. For mains we got: *Carbonara - 10/10 loved it! They use proper guanciale too. Perfectly creamy, rich and delicious. Noodles were so fresh. * Chicken Parm - 8/10 - great cheese distribution on the chicken, pasta was tasty. * Bolognese - 9/10 - your classic bolognese sauce with hearty amounts of meat. I like the noodles they used for this dish too. * Linguine Ai Gamberi - 8/10 - yummy seafood pasta dish, really light with a lemon flavour. Good amount of seafood in the dish too. To finish we all shared the chocolate olive oil cake - 7/10 - was yummy too just wanted it to be abit more olive oily, I think the chocolate overpowers the olive oil abit. Food is delicious, flavorful and uniquely presented. We went to Fiore Famiglia for the Bruschetta, it was so good but ended up ordering so much more. And completed our meal with Lemon Meringue and Tiramusu Service is amazing!!!!! Our server checked on us frequently and served the drinks and food with respect, promptness and appropriate conversation. The ambiance is energizing and welcoming. All the servers worked together so when it became busier we were always asked if we needed something, filled up water or took away empty plates. I booked this place foe a birthday dinner for 4 people. We all enjoyed our evening. Service was great and the food delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the tiramisu as it was too soft and sweet for me. Others enjoyed it. We started with the housemade focaccia, warm marinated olives and whipped ricotta tapenade. All very good. For our mains, I has the chicken parmigiana and added on the pasta. The chicken was good but the pasta was fantastic as it was chewy and the tomato flavour peaked out sweetly. Next time, I will come just for the pasta. Others ordered mushroom ragu (so deep with flavour and hearty. My second favourite of the evening), linguine ai gamberi (loved the lemon essences coming from this dish), and rossa pizza. The pasta dishes were cooked so well that I surely will be coming back. My friend and I dined at Fiore Famiglia on January 2nd. What a great start to the year! The food we ordered was described well by our server and delicious. We tried the Squash & Prosciutto Pizza which was outstanding, so fresh and delicately flavoured, and the feature pasta. We didn't order any alcohol. For dessert, we decided to try the chocolate olive oil cake, which was also delectable. The two of us were a great opportunity to be sidelined: We didn't drink. We shared everything. We were not big spenders. We were not in a rush to leave. However, throughout the evening, we were well-attended and our main server, Paula, really stood out. It was like being welcomed by a new friend. At the end of the evening, after lots of laughs and a delicious meal, Paula came by with the bill and told us that we were so delightful that she had given us a discount. We were both astounded and pleasantly thrilled. I don't think I've ever had that happen before. What a wonderful way to promote customer returns and satisfaction, but also, she was just so sincere and happy about it. I live nearby and my husband and I have been to Fiore Famiglia a number of times, always enjoying the great food and friendly service. However, I felt this was well beyond expectations and really wanted to commend both Paula, and the restaurant for setting an environment that is conducive to building up a loyal and really satisfied clientele. Extremely disappointing experience. We had a reservation for four at 8:15pm and were immediately greeted with attitude. The hostess pointed vaguely at our table instead of seating us. Our server came over and informed us she'd be making the drinks herself since the bartender had already left -- and warned they might be too sweet. Strange, but we went with it. When we said we'd like to start with drinks and take a look at the menu before ordering food, the server told us she would not serve us alcohol unless we ordered food, claiming it was a legal requirement. She then told us that we were taking up a table from other guests who had made reservations and suggested the four of us move to three barstools at the bar -- again, even though we had a reservation. We were there with friends from out of town celebrating milestone birthdays, and instead we were made to feel uncomfortable, pressured, and unwelcome. It was embarrassing enough that we decided to leave. As we walked out, the server repeated the food/alcohol law again, and then immediately sat another party at the table we had reserved. If there truly is a licensing rule about serving alcohol without food, it should be clearly communicated ahead of time -- not used to shame and push guests out the door. We won't be returning and would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a professional, welcoming dining experience. read more

The waitress we had was in a grumpy mood and didn't check in on us at all. When we said thank you, she kind of just ignored us. The appies came fast but it took almost an hour for the mains to arrive. We were so hungry by then, we chowed down so fast with no chatter which kind of ruined the mood. The portions here are small very small and extremely overpriced. However everything is delicious except for the dessert which was an overly sweet and ugly looking piece of tiramisu that was so tiny that it isn't worth $13. Got a pizza and the chocolate cake to go. The pizza had way too much cheese (I know, unusual that to be a complaint) making it quite greasy and soggy even when reheated. The cake was very dry and overwhelmingly orange flavoured even though it just said chocolate olive oil cake, a bit gross tbh. For $50 including tip it was very underwhelming. Booked a reservation for Saturday night. Staff were very friendly and we got seated right away. Looked fairly busy so I would highly recommend booking a reservation if you were looking to visit on a weekend! I ordered a whiskey sour which was very refreshing. For appetizers: My friend and I split the carrot salad and warm burrata with pesto. Carrot salad was okay.. the carrots were in chunks and all different sizes so I felt the cook of the carrot was not concise. Some were cooked and some were raw and extra crunchy. Burrata was pretty good, honestly nothing too special.. I'm not sure if I would order again. For my main: I ordered the braised short rib pasta. Flavour was really good. They make the pasta fresh, unfortunately majority of my noodles were all stuck together so it just felt like I was eating random long chunks of dough. Maybe it was just this one night? The service is great, and I like the atmosphere but unfortunately the food was a real disappointment. To start I had their meatballs and daily antipasti board which had chicken live mousse (the only thing that I loved that night), olive tapenade, pickled onions, potato salad, barley salad. For the mains we shared the duck and risotto with scallops which were both disappointing. The chicken liver mousse was amazing but other than that the antipasti board was meh. I give 1 extra star for the chicken live mousse and would come back just for that (and drinks). There was too much olive tapenade. The portion of the meatballs were more than I expected, good bang for your buck. I wish the duck had more flavour, it felt like it was seasoned with just salt. It came with some gnocchi which was overcooked. The risotto was a true disappointment. It did not feel like risotto, taste like much, and had 3 scallops. Came here for my cousins rehearsal dinner. It's a cute little restaurant with a nice ambience for sure! You can tell it's a local Italian spot with nice low lighting and a good wine list. I love the easy decor inside it's very simple and modern. The food was presented really nice and it had some good variety on the menu. The salads were not bad and the pasta was ok. When I eat pasta I want it to have layers of flavor and it didn't really have that t almost lacked a bit of salt. The pizza was ok we had the margarita pizza which had huge chunks of mozzarella that sorta flopped in your mouth piping hot and the rest of the slice was all sauce. The wait staff are lovely and helpful. The main courses and salads are very good. I ordered a pizza which was terrible. as soon as it arrived I knew I would not like it because it was like bread almost like a bagel pizza. They are not using pizza flour. They're using regular bread dough and sure tastes like it. The topping was better than the pizza dough which was really inedible. The tomato sauce was nothing but tomato paste spread across the bread with no spicing, and I just had a really hard time eating it. I managed to get that one piece and I ate the toppings and when the waiter came around and saw that I didn't eat it. He gave us half off. I'm really glad for that because it was really inedible. The back room is extremely loud and noisy. The acoustics in there are terrible that sounds bounce off the walls and windows, which makes it very difficult to talk to anybody You're sitting at the table with. THE SERVICE: Friendly, and it's a small space so they are always there when you need them. THE COST: $126.75 before tips for dinner for two, a bit on the pricey end. THE FOOD: COCKTAILS * Averna Sour ($12) - 5 stars Delicious, everyone at the table was impressed, & this had a lovely dense yet smooth texture from the egg white. SMALL PLATES * Chicken Liver Pate ($14) - 4 stars Flavorful & tasty. For me, you can't go wrong with pate. * Burrata ($20) - 3 stars Not as fresh/stretchy as some other burratas I've had, but it mixed well with the marinara sauce. ENTREES * Pappardelle Bolognese ($23) - 3.5 stars Sauce was great. Pasta was made in-house and fresh, but it was quite thick and was too al dente. * Risotto ($11) - 3.5 stars Cheesy and dense, with good flavor. feeling the need to finally go out on a date, we decided on this restaurant which has another branch at another location. having heard about this place from friends, i decided...why not! called and was lucky that the had 2 tables left. booked a time and off we went. covid precautions were good. temp check and hand sani readily available. server was nice and took the time to explain what the had. for appys: went with the classic Burrata! - so gooood and creamy. the cheese was melted just at the right temp and the drizzle of olive oil gave it the perfect body. the sweet honey balsamic also gave it a balance taste profile. it was indulgence in every bite. the crostini/ focaccia that came with it wasnt enough. i wanted more. it was that good. i could eat that appy all day long, even better with a glass wine. for mains: seared scallop bucatini pasta with sun dried tomatoes & and the classic carbonara with pecorino and boar bacon. the scallops were perfectly cook and seared to perfection. seasoned well and complimented the sundried tomato/asparagus combination. the scallops were the frozen variety though and not fresh. i could tell bec it wasnt that fork tender and flaky. but still good. my only compliant was there was too much sun dried tomatoes that it made the dish a bit salty and overpowered the scallops. the carbonara was awesome too. sauce was freshly made and came with a good serving of cheese. the boar bacon was smoky and packed with flavour. nothing tasted instant or from a can. in both dishes, the pasta was home made and cooked to order. very al dente and unique. for dessert: panna cotta with blueberries. perfect ending to a nice meal. the panna cotta was so creamy and perfectly made. smooth silky texture complimented by a an excellent blueberry compote. i wish they offered table side cheese shavings to further elevate the meal offered freshly cracked peppercorn table side. another factor that would be nice would be good table bread and olive oil dip, which is standard in italian restaurants. i will be back to try the pizzas next and see if they measure up. over all, i would repeat. cheers! happy eating! read more

Thanks Jacob for organizing our takeout order today. We had the following: Focaccia with olive oil and balsamic - nice texture and good quality olive oil Beet salad - one of the best in the city. Perfectly dressed with arugula, ricotta and a zesty dressing. Risotto with seared scallops - I was so impressed with the size of these giant scallops beautiful seared and still tender in the inside. The risotto is creamy, rich and simply satisfying. A very generous serving. Spaghetti Bolognese - amazing winner! Love the flavour of the sauce and the richness of this dish will keep us coming back for more. Panna Cotta - super creamy and beautiful texture. Sour cherry flavour Zucotto - wow, the of dark chocolate and hazelnut is a winning combo. Amazing texture, soft in the inside and a nice contrast of slightly denser texture in the outer core. read more

It's been ages since I've seen my friend K so we made plans to meet up with her for dinner. She's a bit picky so I played it safe and went with Italian. We decided on Fiore Famiglia which is located next door to Sweet Obsessions. They have a second location in South Granville. We dropped in on a Friday evening (with reservations at 6:00pm). The reso was unnecessary as the place was never packed while we were there. The inside is cute and relaxing with plenty of tables and seats at the bar to eat at. Service is friendly and came by multiple times to refill waters. The menu is short and sweet; small plates, pastas, large plates, pizzas and desserts. Interesting that there's only four pastas and five pizza options. - House-made focaccia ($5.00) - herbs, olive oil and balsamic reduction. B wasn't impressed. For a house-made focaccia, this wasn't very special. It didn't come out warm. The balsamic and olive oil came in a dipping jar (so strange) but most importantly, they barely gave any balsamic. - Vegetarian pizza ($18.00) - rapini, tomato sauce, garlic, caramelized onions and asiago. This was the only dish we found decent. It won't blow you away and it's on the small side but most people seemed to be ordering pizzas. - Gnocchi ($20.00) - this was their special of the day; homemade gnocchi with a bianco sauce, mushroom, red peppers and diced pancetta. Nothing about this dish was good. The gnocchi had no bite to it whatsoever and both the filling and sauce was completely bland. The red peppers were soggy and the pancetta added nothing to the dish. Huge disappointment. - Beet ravioli ($19.00) - ricotta filled, gorgonzola cream, basil and golden beet pangrattato. The presentation looked great when it came out but flavours were lacking again. The cream sauce wasn't tasty and thickened up quickly. They sprinkled breadcrumbs on top to give it texture but that was a mistake. We were hoping to find a cute Italian neighbourhood spot but left disappointed in our meal. Lucky, the walk over to La Glace for dessert saved our night. read more

The carbonara was perfectly seasoned and had a generous amount of sauce and pancetta just the way I like it. Went here for brunch with a friend on a weekday to find it not too busy but with several reserved tables around us. It was a warm day so there was tons of natural light coming in which made the wooden interior very comforting and bright. We ordered a insalata verde salad to start, and the pappardelle bolognese and colazione pizza to share. The salad was simple, left a neutral impression, but so necessary for the veggies! Out of the pasta and pizza, I liked the pasta more. It was hearty with a hint of spiciness which I really enjoyed. The pizza was also good, but despite its look was quite filling. My friend and I ended up with more than half the pizza to take home later! Overall nice, comforting meal and I would love to come back at dinner time to see how it transforms then. read more

Came to this newly opened Italian restaurant after seeing Trafalgar's Bistro closed for a few years. Upon entering the side door entrance, an unpleasant ammonia smell from pets over the years lingers the sidewalk. Power washing the floors is needed. As we enter the restaurant, getting seated took a while as another table was splitting the bill and the server was waiting for payment. Service was a bit slow. Salad came in really quick, but the entrées took a while. When the plates were cleaned, it took quite some time for the bill to come. Even paying the bill took two efforts to waive down a server for the machine. Interior was clean, but was a bit noisy as the ceilings didn't have any sound insulation. No music playing in the restaurant. To improve, servers will need to be more attentive to water refills (no water refills til plates were cleaned), and checking in to ask about the food. Pizza crust had a nice chew, very thin and approximately 2mm thick in the middle. Could use a bit more parmesan (sliced pieces) and toppings to enhance the flavour. P.S. Would prefer freshly ground peppers provided by the server from a full size grinder instead of a small self serve one handed push-button pepper grinder. We ordered all of our food 1 appetizer + 2 mains. We got a caprese salad to start, and then 1 pizza & 1 risotto. Our salad was distastefully salty. Our mains didn't come until 9pm but every other table (even ones that visibly were seated and ordered after us) got their food before ours. Thank god the food was good, but the wait was not expected. A delightful little restaurant! I went on a Sunday evening, was able to get a booking for a table for 4 ppl last minute. We shared a salad X2 pastas and the pizza of the day + dessert. Good Italian food, pizza's aren't woodfired but still tasty with fresh crust. The pastas are fresh with a good chew and silky texture, could be a less creamy imo but still very tasty. I had a glass of red wine - the poggio, delicious. We got the almond meringue with lemon butter cream and raspberry coulis, and it was delightful, but glad we shared everything! We told the waitress about it, and she was totally uninterested and didn't respond to our comment. Because this is a new restaurant, I hope the owner will take note on that and improve their food.
