Decent place for Chinese noodles. They have soup noodles, dry(no-soup) noodles and rice dishes. As far as I could tell, no one at the restaurant ordered rice dishes. The majority of the noodles have at least some spiciness. I wasn't feeling the spicy so went with one the few non-spicy options- pork belly. The flavor is good. Food came out really fast. The dish itself was kind of boring. Each bite was: pork belly, noodle and broth. That's it. Well... there was a bit of cilantro for garnish I think. But really the dish could have used some other ingredients just to make it a bit more interesting... some bamboo shoots or cabbage or bean sprouts or whatever. I will say they're certainly not skimpy with the meat. I would've traded some of that meat for some veg though. read more

Chinese fast food that's oily and tasty. Typical for hunan region. After ordering, food materialized in 3 minutes! They got the order wrong and charged us for 4 items. We ordered 3 only. Service is bad,.. don't think they listened to what we ordered. Noodles in the soup was not hand made but machine made. Nonetheless it was ok. Favored by Chinese as most everyone here spoke mandarin. It was raining and cold, so obviously - we were looking forward to a warm bowl of beef noodle soup since everyone raves about how great it is here! Walked in at 8pm (they close at 8:30pm). Why so early? I have no idea. Quickly seated since there were tables open. In the 30 mins we were there (aka 30 mins before they close), all the tables around us were filled with people also coming in for a later dinner. The majority of people who come here are Chinese (and can speak Chinese). My boyfriend and I were seated and the servers immediately assumed we spoke Chinese (cause I look Chinese)? Proceeded to ask us what we wanted, we needed some time. Ended up ordering A1 (Large) and A2 (Small) for the both of us. Took a while for us to get drinks. Food came relatively fast and was pretty good. Now the whole experience was just eh. Mainly because: 1) Service was mediocre. Drinks were not refilled. We were practically "shooed" out the door and the server hovered over our table until we paid our check. 2) Ambiance - BOO. I don't mind the Chinese music playing in the background, but when you have the cashier/server dude walk to the bathroom and start hacking his lungs out for the entire restaurant to hear - that ain't okay. SOOO UNAPPETIZING. Not sure if I'll come back to try the other dishes. It's not super great (for the wait I've been hearing ppl wait for) but it's not bad. I ordered the standard beef noodle soup and the beef was more tendon than brisket but the soup broth flavor was too light. I usually like tendon more but my coworker did not care for it as much. I think they should call out on the menu that the meat is more tendon like. The noodle texture was good and reminded me of Bun Bo Hue rice noodles texture. We also ordered the green onion pancake which to my standard was slightly undercooked. They also gave complimentary peanuts and spicy pickled cabbage that was tasty. We had an additional side of cucumber salad which was refreshing and had good flavor. The store is small and seats will fill up fast. That could attribute to the wait times. I think this place could do better taste wise but it's most likely not something I would be craving to have in the future. read more

I really wanted to like Noodle Talk. Recently our favorite beef noodle soup restaurant closed down, so we've been on the hunt. Unfortunately, this did not hit the spot for us. The flavor of the beef noodle soup was not too bad, but it was not the beautiful dark brown that usually accompanies braised beef noodle soup. Instead it was a clear broth of some sort that you mix in with your noodles and meat. It was savory and had a hint of spice. However, the noodles were pretty soggy, not chewy and "QQ" like the noodles in beef noodle soup should be. We also ordered the braised pork with brown sauce soup noodles. Again flavor was alright, but the noodles had the same issue. The pork wasn't very soft (flavor was okay, as mentioned) and required some chewing before I could swallow. Now what was REALLY disappointing were the green onion pancakes. I'm not entirely sure how, but these pancakes were hard as a rock. Now, I'm the kind of person that likes to crunch on cartilage and ice (I know, bad for my teeth) but I just love that crunch. These green onion pancakes were almost inedible for me. I ended up soaking them in my soup and even then, it was so hard to eat. I'm not sure if they were just left out a long time and became stale or what, but that was literally hard to swallow. I came here based on a friend's recommendation. At around 1pm on a Sunday, there was still a short wait and lots of people standing around waiting for a table. We ordered the beef stew noodle soup (A1), spicy beef shank noodle soup (A2), pork and green pepper stir-fry with noodle (A9), green bean drink (buy 1 get 1), and the Hunan-style Sweet rice cake (available only from Fri-Sun). For the noodles you can choose between a flat noodle and the round noodles - I recommend the round because it has more texture and the flat kinds soaks up all the soup making it soggy and less of a noodle soup dish. The noodles came out super quickly after we ordered (which probably means most of it was already made and just sitting in the kitchen). Although the flavoring of the noodle soup was decent, they were both a bit too salty. I liked the beef better in the beef stew noodle soup dish because it was more tender. The beef shank in the spicy noodle soup was overcooked and dry, almost like beef jerky. The stir-fry noodle was also average. As for the dessert, although they claim that the sweet rice cake is popular, it's really nothing but fried mochi covered in syrup, and certainly overpriced for what it is (5.99 for 6 pieces). The green bean drink was also pretty unimpressive. It was very watery and diluted (probably why it was BOGO) and costed $3. Overall I thought the food was just A-OK, but for what it is, it seems a bit overpriced ($11-13 per bowl) and the service is meh. read more

I missed regular lunch hours because of a long meeting at work today. Noodle Talk was already closed for afternoon break by the time I got there. When I walked in the restaurant, their management team was doing a new menu tasting for their nextdoor sister restaurant that will soon open in the coming March. Seeing my starvation, they are so kind and offered me free delicious steamed Chinese buns!! I am so grateful! The Chinese buns were handmade with soft fluffy dough and juicy tasty fillings. There were two flavors, savory pork and spicy beef with chili pepper. Both taste really really good! Can't wait for Noodle Talk's sister restaurant to open! read more

Love this place. I have been about 5 times and I like everything I try. Right next door is a boba shop called Moomo. A lot of restaurant goers get a boba and bring it into this restaurant. The food is super spicy so a sweet drink is a good compliment for the heat (there are also not spicy options on the menu). My go-to was the spicy beef noodle, but they seem to have made a change to the recipe which isn't nearly as tasty. In addition, the quality of beef doesn't seem to be as high as it previously was. Came here on a Wednesday night with three other friends. I had the beef noodle soup (A1) and my partner had the ground pork noodle soup. For apps we had the green onion pancake. The pancakes were good. The crispness was appealing and not soggy or burnt. The noodles were great and had a slight chew. I was a nervous to get noodle soup for takeout, but the noodles did not clump together AND the soup was still really hot when we got back home! Really BAD experience in this place. It used to be my go to place until I found a FLY in the noodle soup. This is DISGUSTING. Wow... They didn't even deserve a single star. It was probably in the worst 5 restaurant experiences in my life. First of all, I don't expect 5-star service in this kind of restaurant. You come, order your food, eat, and leave. And this was my third time here. I quite loved the food the first two times so I came back. He's so very rude and the last person you want as your server. If you read the 1-star reviews, a lot of them mentioned how rude a server was. I suspect that it's the same guy. He really has an attitude problem. My husband came after me and he hadn't even sat for 10 seconds and this server already came by our table to take order. My husband hadn't even had the chance to open the menu. Like, doesn't he have any common sense? I order A12 which is supposed to be a stir fry (they even have the photo on the menu) but it came out as noodle soup and I thought that was a wrong order. My husband ordered B10 with smoked pork. When it came out, it was basically just rice with pork oil. When we called this server and asked where the smoked pork was he said they didn't have it. Wtf? He did not mention anything when we placed the order. So lazy. I started to complain in front of him and he started giving us so much attitude. Saying "I'm sorry, okay?" And threw the menu on another table. Like a teenager acting up. What kind of server was that?! We were so pissed off that we didn't even have the appetite on our food anymore. Every dish I ordered taste so good and authentic. Their house made pumpkin pie and pork intestine are the best in the area. The fish filets in hot chili oil is very fresh and tender. The spicy duck blood is also the best I had in the area with very fresh and well-handled duck blood. I also recommend the Hunan style loofah and egg soup and asparagus lettuce stir-dry with garlic. When i asked why this is different than ordered, only then he said that they were out of the meat. delicious. have been obsessed with this place since the first time i tried it. the rice noodle is really good, and i can confidently say that its the best in palo alto. the beef in the noodles tastes strong but not overpowering the dish. the broth is light but not still packs a flavorful punch. they have two sized of noodles, and i would recommend getting the large size so you can have two meals for the price of one. the steamed egg was also really good. the seafood to egg ratio was good and perfect for a brunch meal. me and my housemates always orders from here for take out whenever we are unsure on what noodles to eat! try if you like rice noodles or noodles in general. read more

Our party of 3 came here at around quarter to noon on a Friday and got a table right away. They gave us complimentary 5-spice peanuts and some pickled Chinese cabbage for snacking. We ordered the beef noodle with soup and a beef noodle with the Chinese pickled mustard. My beef noodle broth had a very nice flavor with the right level of spiciness. The beef was tender and cooked well but many pieces had that rubbery membrane layer which I did not like. I sampled my colleague's beef noodle with pickled mustard and it was also quite good. Word of precaution - If you are prone to sweat while drinking hot spicy noodle soup, please bring extra tissues or handkerchief to wipe the streaming sweat. I had that problem and it wasn't pretty.
