Came here for a friends get together. There is a language barrier but there were two young kids that helped translate to I believe is their mom. You have to order minimum of two skewers per meat you want to try. A couple of singles were okay but they don't want you to abuse that. I tried some lamb, beef (fat), chicken skin, pork belly and one with pickled cabbage. Overall all the meats were heavily seasoned and quite salty. The main season I think was cumin and salt. The lamb and beef fat were the lesser seasoned, tender and quite good even though I don't care for lamb very much. The pork belly was very salty. The chicken skin was salty and needed to be grilled longer to be crispier. Our friends ordered cucumbers and pig ears cold dish- great flavors!! I'm okay on the pig ears but I loved the smashed cucumbers. And someone got crispy fried pork (I think a sweet and sour sauce). It was very good and most popular item. However, I've heard rumors that they're better now, so I decided to give them another go. TL;DR - service is still a bit slow, but some of the food is worth the wait now. Be prepared to spend 1-2 hours here if it's crowded and you've ordered more than just skewers. It was packed when we came by on a Friday at 9 p.m., but the crowd had cleared out by 10 p.m. The interior is fairly small - 6 booths and a single large table in the middle. Be prepared to rub shoulders with a stranger if it's crowded. We ordered 7 skewers and a few dishes. Skewers have a minimum order quantity of 2 skewers per type. The food came out over the course of an hour and a half. They forgot to put in one of the dishes, and we ended up canceling that order in the end. The food was hit or miss, with most of it being hits. The skewers were great - spicy and flavorful. Oysters on a hot plate came out sizzling hot and were delicious. If you're planning to visit this place, READ THIS. Overal, horrible experience, I would give zero if it is an option. There are a number of obervations/experiences I want to point out, and I believe your money deserve a better business/place, hear me out. 1) RUDE AND IMPATIENT WAITER We were seated immediately when stepped in, which is a good thing. We were given a few minutes to decide what to eat, but found it difficult to wrap up the order in a short time period as there are many items and there are four of us. The waiter came back a few minutes later, he get impatient and rude when he found out we hadn't decided what we wanted. 2) OVERPRICED MENU ITEMS $30 - $40 per cover. I honestly don't worry about how much I need pay as long as I am satisfied with the food and service. Considering all of those unprofessional behaviors/services, and some food were served cold, I do believe this business doesn't deserve this much. 3) ASKING CUSTOMERS TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF TABLES This is the last mistake they want to make, but it seems that they don't care. We were asked to leave by the owner because they ran out of tables, customers at another table had to go through this nonsense as well. TO THE OWNER: Rush hour, I know. But I do believe we deserve to stay a bit longer as our order was big enough to let me chat with a old friend we hadn't seen each other for many years. We stayed about 1 hour and 20 minutes with a $160+ order. Ran out of tables? not my fault. 4) REVERSED-RACISM I'm following up the last comment: It seemed that the owner only asked the ASIAN customers to leave so that they can have tables for the new customers. The table where a number of Caucasion customers seated were not bothered at all and still enjoying their food and conversation. 5) NO SERVICE AT ALL The waiter never refilled our water, they seemed to be very busy at all time. Even if I asked for it twice, my cup was refilled only once. 6) THE MANDATORY TIP With all this absurdity, we still decided to tip 10 dollars even though we did not receive any service and also got expelled for no legit reasons. Guess what happened? The waiter chased us down and asked for more tip, quote "our restaurant requires a minimum tip that is 15 percent of the order". I usually tip a decent amount, more than 30%. With this bad experience, I do believe 10 dollars is a mercy and they should be grateful. Is it even legal to require a tip? I don't think so. If it is mandatory service fee, then you should have it clearly stated on the menu. I'll file a report to the Department of Health and Human Services. 7) WE PAID FOR SOMETHING WE DIDN'T ORDER I went through the receipt and just found out they charged me for a "Fanta", we didn't even order a beverage at all. I'm not going back to argue over 1 dollar 75 but I believe this is a theft. For everyone, if you have to go there, always double check the receipt before making any payment. P.S. I plan to consult with my lawyer and contact my bank, and possibly file a report the police department for a credit car fraudulent charge. To summerize, they have a brand name "no 1 bbq" but I don't find how it is better than its competitors. I would never re-visit, and I encourage you to avoid that place, for the sake fo you mental health and finance. This style food is basically bar food, meant to be enjoyed with friends talking and plenty of beer. In China the street vendors come out at 10pm, chairs are set up with lights and the good times begin. The BBQ grill is a long skinny gutter with charcoal just the right width for the skewers to sit above the heat. The fresh skewer starts at one end and rolls to the other end well done. Since that four word phrase has doubtfully ever been uttered before: You walk in and the place is very trendy, with graffiti on the wall and young waitresses with various "ironic" t-shirts on. The mugs you drink from are covered in communist iconography with tongue-in-cheek "propaganda" phrases. The graffiti/T-shirt/"propaganda" are mostly in Chinese, and so is most of the chatter in the air. In fact I think my table was the only one where any English was spoken at all. Of all the Chinese food in the greater Dallas area, your Americanized, authentic, Cantonese, hot pot, dim sum, etc, this is the only place I've found that serves BBQ in the style of northern China. Essentially it's skewered meat, well seasoned, and grilled over an open flame, a Chinese shishkebab if you will. Lamb is solid. Chicken wings were amazingly tender and juicy, with perfect seasoning. We took a big chunk out of their menu, but there's still so much more I'd love to come back and try. Although everything is cheap, it's ALSO small (hence the comparison to tapas), so it can get a little expensive to truly fill up. I think my son and I made a mistake by coming for dinner instead of a snack. Don't get me wrong, the food is tasty and on the spicy side. just feel like we need something more after we are done. The choices are plenty and all seasoned well, as I said, on the spicy side, so we feel like we need some rice to go with them since we are not beer-drinker, I can see this as a great place for beers with some tasty appetizers. It is a little pricey, for example, for $1.29, you get one grill shrimp, one medium size shrimp and very tasty, but only one. That was a bit much. So, either you have a much smaller appetite or you are coming here with the "right" expectation, you will enjoy the food. Inside, you'll be seated, have your table covered with a disposable paper cover, and receive your ugly pile of boiled peanuts (which is a normal staple in other parts of the world). You're either going love them or hate them, the theme of tonight. Regardless, you better eat some if you need calories to feel full. Skewers. This is why you come here. Thank God for the picture menu. Get the 10 set beef skewer and the heart. Tofu skin is a good filler too. If you can, you should be adventurous and try everything. If you need filler calories, they do have fried rice, noodles, and the like. I probably should've written this part first, but don't come here expecting a normal dinner. This is more like a 2nd dinner hang out to chat, eat, and drink while surrounded by the cheesiest interior decor. After all, hours go until 2am or so. And if you go late, let me know how it is. This place is worth a try if you've never had street style food in China (which I hadn't). I came with someone from China who said they really like the food here. It's a little bit pricey, but I felt like we were really experiencing something unique and different! I had never had any of the skewers that we ordered. I enjoyed a lot of the dishes! However, the cups are rusted, and I didn't feel clean drinking their water... It also sucks that the meat on the skewers were tiny, and in the end, I feel like we killed a whole forest from all the wooden skewers left on the table... Best clams I've ever had at a restaurant and at a reasonable price too! We had heard about this place recently and wanted to try it out. One of the recommendations were the clams and they lived up to our expectations. On top of the clams, we also ordered some lamb skewers, pig ear salad, stir fried squid, and some chicken kidney skewers. I really enjoyed the skewers as the meats were really tender and tasty. The pig ear salad was kinda so-so and not all that impressive. The fried squid was a little tough but I liked it a lot as well. Overall everything here was great and it's a place I'd come to again.
