    Durian

Best smoothies in Houston!! Reasonable price and they use FRESH fruits!! The only place that I know of in Houston that serves durian smoothie too. So good!! Also got to try their taro smoothie from my buddy. Omg hands down the best taro smoothie I've ever had. So creamy and fragrant! Definitely just became my go-to favorite boba smoothie shop.

I wrote this rap about the smoothies at nJOI The Mango-Strawberry's so good it will anNOY Don't gulp it too quickly, this drink is not a TOY And I'll tell you the story of how I found my BOY My boy is named Mochi and he's actually a CAT He was skin and bones but now I've made him FAT He catches cockroaches and once killed a RAT They say he's superfeline, but I dunno bout THAT When Hurricane Harvey hit, he became posSESSED He tried to puncture my girlfriend's left fake BREAST He bit right through my finger and made me dePRESSED I said he was bipolar, he meowed and conFESSED But I don't really mind cause he's so damn FURRY And when it's time for bed he gets so snuggly and PURRY He might bite off your finger but there's no need to WORRY Cause he'll buy you Njoi Smoothies as his way of saying SORRY WHAT WHAT to get: Mango Strawberry Smoothie with Tapioca WHAT not to get: Bitten by Moch McGoch Bambu has the greatest smoothies on earth, plural - Honeydew, Taro Coconut, Coffee, and Berry flavours. But Njoi has the best single smoothie on earth. There is something truly magical about the Mango Strawberry smoothie here. I have never tasted anything like it in history. I Njoi recounting my stories on Yelp, even though nobody reads them. I can prove it. If you're reading this, send me a compliment or message to say that you read it. See! I knew it! Just kidding, I don't mind whether people read them or not. Like most of our generations, I just like to hear myself talk. I mean write. I mean meow. Speaking of meowing, this is the sacred location where I discovered a tiny baby kitten out front of the store, mewing like crazy. He had no family. He had nowhere to go. He was dying in the summer Houston heat. First I gave him water. Then I gave him food. Then he followed me to my car. Now he lives with me. His name is Mochi. He's perhaps the most cuddly, purry, loving cat in cuddly, purry, loving cat history. He almost cost me a finger. And he's worth it. More on him later. Service is nice here, less so if you come an hour or less before closing. Some of them know me fairly well since I'm always coming in here for the same smoothie. They use fresh fruit - that's probably part of why they're the best. The mango strawberry is the defining smoothie for me. Everywhere I go I tend to order mango strawberry in the hope that it could be anywhere near as good as the one here - as of yet it has not been. I doubt it ever will be. Bambu in Chinatown (and other locations as well), Tapioca Place in Spring Branch, and a couple of places around the country can rival these smoothies, but nobody can beat it. Their coffee flavored smoothies are also really excellent and their tapioca is yumsworthy. And the Mango-Strawb is the #1 I've had anywhere. They close way too early (8pm but don't go after 7), and sometimes there are sketchy characters in the parking lot (and I'm not talking about portrait artists). So back to my cat. I have a very soft spot for this Plaza and this Juice Spot because I found my little baby Mochi outside here. Tiny and skinny and underfed and ready to die. There are pictures attached so you can see the whole thing unfold for yourself. He was just a little baby. I took him home with me, moved him back to Buffalo, and then later back to Houston at his request. He made great friends with all the cats (OK most of the cats) in Buffalo and Houston, and despite his occasional temper and violent tendencies (I sound like a mother describing her serial killer son), he is the cuddliest, most loving cat imaginable. So full of love. I'm so glad I managed to save him. I told the girls working here the story of Mochi and they didn't remember him. But whichever girls were working here in the summer of 2016 are part of the reason that Mochi was saved, because when I first found him, they told me that Mochi was a stray and that was the only reason I was able to take him home with me with a clear conscience. Speaking of a clear conscience, may would you like to clear my conscience? And by clear I mean see, and by conscience I mean me naked. Now let's finish with one more verse de la rappe. YO my name is Fox and I've never been COY I wanna be a girl, but I was born a BOY My dream job is test-driving that sex TOY (points) I wanna get pumped like Brad Pitt in TROY (I meant BY, not LIKE, or was it a deCOY) I can be anyone you want, even James McAVOY I'll dress up as a girl, if you like, as a PLOY I'll even whine and moan high-pitched (like a girl, not a GOY) I'll nbend over nshow you nsomething you can ndestROY They better hear me screaming all the way to St. CROIX When you're done with it, it better look like bok CHOY Make me sound Latina so I start screaming OYE I'll be so good for you you'll feel like Selena Gomez's BOY In fact I'll be so good that I'll be someone you emPLOY (BTW I blow harder than wind in IlliNOIS) Oh crap this rap is 17 lines not 16 (settle down ROY) Anyway, the best smoothie on earth is at NJOI!! After seeing someone's review regarding the Vietnamese coffee here, I had to add this comment! Their Vietnamese coffee amount is already pre-determined. The coffee is brewed strong to add the ice in later. This is not uncommon, I have seen many places do this for their Vietnamese coffee. So it doesn't matter how much ice you request. You can ask for no ice so the coffee isn't diluted, but you should expect half the cup. If you ask them to fill it to the brim, then expect to be charged for 2 cups of Vietnamese coffee. I don't think they deserve a one star based on the amount of coffee you get, but based on the authenticity of the coffee. So my rating still stands 5/5.

I am always in search of a delicious papaya smoothie with tapioca balls. Njoi was recommended to me by another local business near by I frequent. And Njoi definitely didn't disappoint. The smoothie was definitely the best I have had. It tasted fresh and blended nicely. In the photo that I posted of the actual smoothie you can see the thoughtful extra lid on top instead of them just putting the plastic over the cup and giving it to you without the extra lid. I really appreciated the little details that they add that make the smoothie more enjoyable like the fresh fruit they use! Very tasty and definitely my new spot when I'm near china town! Thanks! PS. If your order is under $20 you have to use cash. Anything over $20 you can use credit card

Milk tea with taro pudding. It's all about that taro pudding
    Ngoc L.

there's only one place you can get taro pudding in your drink. and this is the place. and this is why i keep coming back. trust me. taro pudding is where its at. their milk tea is pretty consistent. my one and only drink here: milk tea with taro pudding. simply amazing.

Hole in the wall mom n pop tea, coffee and smoothie shop right off Beechnut and Wilcrest near Chinatown. NJoi is honestly a hidden gem with very reasonable prices (around $2.50-3.00 for teas and under $4 for smoothies) albeit it they only take cash. They use fresh fruits in their drinks, so your taro smoothie is going to taste a lot less like powder and more refreshing. Pretty much always go here after hitting up their neighbor, Jolynn's Crawfish, and will likely continue to be a customer. A+ would recommend!

    Green Milk Tea
    Diana T.

Njoi is in my top three places for milk tea. They're probably my second favorite, actually! I come here mainly for two things only because they're that good, and that's their green milk tea and Vietnamese coffee. Their green milk tea is so unique and different from anywhere else. I can't tell if it's the type of tea they use, or their milk, or maybe both- but it's super good. I also like that their ice is semi crushed. Almost like sonic ice. I always order two or three drinks for myself! Only downside is you have to drink the milk teas fairly quickly, because once they water down, they reallllly water down. It'll just 100% taste like water. So if you order more than one drink for yourself, I'd recommend ordering the other ones with no ice!

I got tired of getting a FULL cup of ice from this place, so I asked for less ice this time. This is how much they give.

Traffic to get in and out is horrible! Parking is a struggle on busy days. Fortunately, once you park here, you can pretty much grab some drinks, baked goods, play claw machines, go grocery shopping, etc. Trung Nguyen serves espressos, matcha, phin coffee, phin drips, teas, and white coffee (lighter version). Toppings are $1-$1.50 and includes grass jelly, coffee jelly, cream, single shot, or extra matcha. I've tried their egg coffee, coconut coffee, ube coffee, pandan coffee, and black sesame. Although I love all of them, my current fav is the black sesame! YUM!! I've yet to try their matcha and teas, but Trung Nguyen is always on our list whenever we're in town- so I will for sure try their other drinks at one point or another. Viet coffee is everywhere in Houston (and I love that). It's located in a large shopping complex but that particular corner is concentrated with a bunch of other popular coffee shops and bakeries. It made parking in the general vicinity somewhat difficult. As expected on a weekend, the place was super busy. The inside is very cool and modern looking. I can't speak on the customer service because of an ordering kiosk and minimal interaction with the staff. It's cool and all, but since it was my first time, it would have been nice to ask questions. What this place is known for is phin coffee which is a type of drip coffee that gives you a much higher concentrated brew. They have all sorts of flavors for that but they also have a lighter version called white coffee. I wanted something lighter so I went with the Banana Cream White Coffee. It came out pretty quick and I was on my way in no time. Upon first sip after getting in my car, I almost turned around to get another coffee because the drink was so delicious and I had only went with a small size. This drink was amazing. Yes it was the "lighter" version, but I could still taste the coffee. The banana cream topping was a first for me but who knew banana and coffee combined could be such a delicious flavor. I took my time and savored this drink. If you like matcha, they also have quite a few options for that. They also have teas and espressos. There was a display of different cookies that I later found out was a big seller. Prices are a little high and the lack of human interaction to order was my only complaint. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable cup of coffee. I think I'll even go as far as saying it is one of the better cups of coffee I've had in Houston. I will most definitely be back!

I tried the Biscoff Tiramisu-- while they could work on their presentation (the filling looked messy and slapped on), the taste was quite nice! Sweet, creamy, and the mascarpone filling was light and not too heavy despite being sweet and indulgent. I'm excited to try the other tiramisu varieties :D I like how the tiramisu comes in its own container instead of scooped into a takeout box because it's a lot less messy + prettier when eating it. Service was really friendly and there is self-serve water available too. Lots of tables for two but they were all taken during my visit. There's a little table outside in the shade if you're willing to sit in the heat. Overall, 4.5 stars for the tiramisu-- will be back to try some more! One of my favorite things was how fragrant the space smelled while I waited for my boba. You could tell there was an exceptional tea aroma lingering despite all the cream and sweetness. The place was exceptionally clean for being so busy, and the workers consistently cleaned as they made the drinks, so you knew you could trust the sanitation here. Drink Design - I have to make a separate comment on how CUTE these drinks were. I loved the intentional sticker placement over the lips and the little carrying handle. You could tell they went the extra mile to make these drinks not just flavorful, but an experience in and of themselves. Even their receipt paper felt luxurious. That sounds ridiculous to point out, but the thought behind every aspect of this place is impeccable. High Mountain Pouchong Tea w. Lemon Juice & Mousse (Creamy Lemon Tart) - After all the sugar I had today, this lemony drink hit the spot with its perfect tartness. The cream had bits of lemon zest in it, adding to the aroma. I tried to adjust the sweetness when I ordered and was told it had a built-in sweetness, but if I found it too sweet, they would happily switch it out for another drink. I felt like I was dealing with Amazon's generous return policy--and luckily, the drink was perfect, so no return was needed! Creamy Mango Tart - Literally like the Lemon Tart, but mango. I loved this just as much and really enjoyed the refreshing flavors of BOTH tarts. Instantly a fan favorite. Dong Ding Oolong Tea w. Fresh Milk - Very mild and creamy, almost like a mellow latte. Not my favorite because it was a bit too creamy after everything else I had today. Still, I loved the tea profile and can absolutely see why others would love it. Overall, I love, love, LOVE this place. 1000/10. From the experience to the quality and intentionality behind every little detail, I couldn't be happier with my visit.
