Nice place that reminds me of being back in VN. The food we ordered was very tasty but the coconut coffee will bring us back. Stick to dishes that come with banh mi or com, the soups are just ok. The service is quick and efficient, the only gripe I had was water was provided in styrofoam cups and you serve yourself. My family and I were in Chinatown buying egg tarts at Eck Bakery and noticed Saigon Pho in the same shopping complex. We did mistake them for Pho Saigon (flipped words). But, they're not the same. Inside, Saigon Pho is more of a cafe with a small offering of entree and drink items. The vibe here is relaxed and casual. We ordered pork belly, chicken, and pate banh mi plus ca phe sua da to go. The coffee was really good and it's portion sized so when I got without ice, was shocking to me to get only 1/6 of the cup filled! It's not a lot of coffee compared to some places when you do no ice, it's at least half full. Their noodle dishes are flavorful but portion is rather small for $11. It was really packed on the weekend but seems like a nice hangout spot. There was plenty seating both outside and inside. We saw alot of older folks, probably regulars, just sit and talk for a while! Large place where a lot of elderly Asian males like to hang out in groups. I have tried a few items here. Their banh mi (sandwiches) and com tam platter are good. Their coffee is very strong and bitter. It is good, but some people may not be used to it. The coffee cup size is not very big. I really don't like that they round up all food item prices automatically, so it seems like a certain amount of required tip is already lumped into your bill. Seems shady if you are not explaining that to customers at all. Customer service is hit and miss. Some staff are nice. Others are not. The first time I tried this place was because my coworkers invited me, saying the com tam was good here. We ordered four of the same com tam, but I added an extra fried egg on top for $2. It took 15 minutes for the first two platters to come out, another 5 minutes for the third platter, and 5 more minutes for my platter with the extra egg, totaling 25 minutes. When the food arrived, it looked good, so I mixed the egg with the rice and started cutting the meat, but it was raw. I asked for the meat to be cooked again, and they took another 10 minutes to prepare it. They replaced everything on the platter except the egg, which they kept from the old plate. My lunch break was over, so I took the food to go. When I got back to work and tried to eat, the meat was burnt, hard, and bitter. This was my first and last time at this place. I'm writing this review as I'm waiting for a drink I ordered. I walked into this place Saturday afternoon knowing it was going to be during the lunch rush. I had already struck out on my intended first stop next door and walked over here. I saw they had a large group of older gentlemen sitting outside in their outdoor seating and knew at least it was going to be authentic. I walk in and order an egg coffee, which cost me about $5. Not bad considering it was something unique that I haven't had too many times. After I paid I was directed to wait by the serving area and waited 10-15 minutes for my drink. They had about 6 individuals conglomerating at the front counter chatting when I had originally placed my order and it didn't seem very organized at first. I kept waiting quietly and observed that no one had ordered before or after me in the line so it was odd that I had to wait so long for a small drink. A random gentlemen had walked up to speak with one of the staff members (seemingly, a barista) and then turned to me to tell me to wait a little longer. I didn't catch the reason why but if it was the owner, I'd give him an A for effort. Now for the drink. I got it in a 12oz coffee cup expecting it to be full but when I picked it up, it felt unusually light. Looking through the sip hole on the lid, I noticed the cup was barely half full. Upon further inspection, they had topped the egg cream with some kind of instant coffee powder chunks that tasted burnt and bitter. I downed the drink within a minute and the taste wasn't too bad. Reminiscent of a Vietnamese style coffee, I had just wished the portion size was bigger for the price. Granted this might be the authentic way of preparing this drink, I may be entirely incorrect with my opinion but I'm hoping to come back again someday to try their other menu items. read more

I placed an order couple weeks ago for over $30 and one of the order was coffee now the coffee is $5 and it's small which is cool but they send half cup. Wanted to give another try and I placed an order just now for over $35 again and they cancelled my order. Now I understand maybe they are busy or full for order. If so they should inform the customer or not put their business as available for delivery. I checked on their times and it says open till 5pm and I had placed the order at 3:30p. I was told by my brother that this place recently opened and that I should try it out. So I decided to stop by and show my support. I usually try a place a few times before writing a review but this place only needed one visit. The first thing I notice when I enter was the quality of their customer service, or lack there of. No greeting to customers, pretty typical for an Asian establishment. But the lack of greeting isn't the issue, the fact that two employees didn't wear a mask or any PPE while serving customer during a pandemic is a management issue, and wearing masks outside your home is a mandatory ordered by the city. I ordered two Banh Mi and a Ca Phe Sua Da, the total was $11. My wife had the bo nuong xa and I had the trung op la. My wife said what she had was nothing special, the bread wasn't even toasted, which was a disappointment for her. Here is where it gets even better, my usual luck, which is crap. What kind of establishment serves their customer uncut, not toasted, plain bread, and three eggs and call it a Banh Mi? I didn't get any veggies, mayonnaise, or pate. I was surprised and thinking someone probably made an innocent careless mistake. I went in and talked to the guy at the front counter who happen to not wear a mask. I asked him if this is how they serve their Banh Mi, and he confirmed it. If they want to charge me a little bit more so I can have everything that comes in a Banh Mi, I'm ok with that. But if they are going to serve me two items, bread included and call it a Banh Mi, they might as well not serve it at all. As for the coffee, it's a full cup of ice so you're paying for half a cup of coffee, nothing unusual. Their banh mi exceeded my expectations, because a lot of places that sell multiple items usually fail at banh mi. The banh mi is literally stuffed so you are getting your money worth. They also have daily specials where a specific banh mi is $2.75. If the banh mi you're craving isn't a part of the daily special then you can do their banh mi + Vietnamese coffe for $5. Their rice plate was really good when I first tried it. I tried it again this past weekend and my meat was still red... it seemed like they were trying to rush the orders. Came here for lunch on a weekday. It was empty when I arrived and ate. I ordered the pork belly banh mi and the bi suon cha com tam. The banh mi was good! I love the pate and mayo spread. I enjoyed the com tam. The suon smelled amazing, the meat wasn't tough, and the portion size is huge and filling. I came because of their 50% off soft opening, the foods exceed my expectation. My tastebud was blew. Every single items (cha trung, bi, thit nuong) were all delicious, at least to my taste. Grilled pork could be more tender and juicier but the smoky flavor was on point. However, the star of the plate was the broken rice. The rice was just right, not dry/undercook or mushy, but soft and addicting. Many other restaurants either didn't get the rice right, or they used coconut cream to obtain the softness which I find it odds in savory foods.
