~ Matcha Tiramisu ~ Legit disappointed. Saw a lot of raving reviews online, but turns out to be a trap. Matcha flavour is non-existence. The lady finger is bone dry (and not soaked in any liquids), not even the cream can save the dryness as the cream is very thick, with a texture that's very different from a traditional tiramisu (which is supposed to be more soft and silky smooth). So it failed as a matcha dessert, and failed as a tiramisu. ~ Matcha Lemonade ~ I regret being so adventurous. This has no matcha flavour. More like a normal lemonade but without the strong lemony taste. ~ Matcha Latte (w/ oat milk) ~ This is actually pretty good. Very smooth, and with a decent amount of matcha flavour! This I recommend. ~ Hojicha ice cream ~ Surprisingly good!! It's actually got a good hojicha taste, and the texture is quite smooth and creamy. Hojicha is rare in NYC, good hojicha is even more scarce. If I have an ice bag with me, would prob buy some extra to stock them at home! Will I be back? No (but maybe for the hojicha ice cream) I don't like the matcha tiramisu, the matcha latte you can probably find similar ones in other shop so I may not return just entirely for this latte. I was so glad that Nippon Cha decided to open a store in Williamsburg because their Queens location is just too far for me to want to travel to. The matcha latte was great. They prepare it without sugar normally, but you can add either simple syrup or honey. I requested a minimal amount of honey. They also have milk alternatives without an additional charge. The foam was perfect on the latte, and the matcha was strong enough. The matcha tiramisu on the other hand didn't have much of a matcha taste despite the dusting of matcha powder on top. However, it was very soft and light. There's not a lot of seating, so be prepared to take your drink and/or food to go. A little late to write this review, but as I was thinking recently of places I've been to the past 6 months that I wanted to write a Yelp review for, this was one of the first places that came to mind... I had the fortune of living in the Williamsburg area for about a month leading into the 2022 NYC Marathon. I think the Williamsburg location was only open for a couple months by the time I rolled around. The place specializes in first harvest matcha, which gives some really intense matcha flavor. If you're not a fan of the earthy tones that matcha gives, this will not change your mind, but as someone who is a big fan of matcha, I absolutely loved it. The first time I came I tried the matcha oat milk latte and you can definitely tell there's a different quality than your regular matcha lattes you might get at other places. Subsequent times I've gone I have either gotten the hojicha latte and kuro mitsu. I love hojicha in general and have only found one other place (not in NYC, but still in the US) that really rivals the quality. The kuro mitsu though is by far my favorite drink from there though. The mixture of brown sugar, oat milk, and matcha makes for an amazing pairing. Definitely something I still think about whenever I have a sweet drink craving. During that month stint, I would probably go here at least 2 times a week. It really is that good. Is it a bit pricey? Sure, but you're literally in NYC... not to mention the quality is definitely there. Went so much that the owner recognized the last time I went to visit. Gave me a sample of another tea they were planning on adding to the menu that they had exclusive rights to the tea farm from which was really neat. Super friendly staff and I am definitely rooting for them to succeed! If I ever get the chance to move back to NYC, this is definitely on a short list of places I want to return back to! read more

The owners are so nice. She made me a very good matcha latte. Personally, I love it, it is a little bitter taste from the real matcha powder, and it smells so good! However, My sister thinks it's too much matcha powder. So depend on your reference, you can let her know. TOCHUCHA LATTE Tochucha is an herbal tea and I opted to try their latte which is mixed with coffee. It was a very well made latte and the milk was smooth, creamy, and not too sweet or bitter. The tochucha added notes of grassiness, dare I say seaweed? At first I was like i'm not sure i I like this but at the end I would say that I definitely appreciate it and want to try the tochucha on its own next time. This place prides itself on its authentic and high quality tea so don't miss a chance to try their matcha drinks in particular, and my personal favorite tea - hojicha. I came recently on a strong recommendation by a friend. I got a kinako matcha latte, and was really pleasantly surprised. The matcha flavor is quite strong, nice earthiness, but definitely was a bit on the grittier side. What I really enjoyed was the kinako. There were bits of it, and it provided pops of sweetness and nuttiness. It didn't overwhelm the drink, but just enough to enhance it! We also got a normal matcha latte, but made the mistake of getting a large. When it says large, it really is huge, so make sure you're ready to drink a lot of matcha latte. I was pretty brain dead for a minute thinking it was affordable until I saw the prices on the self checkout. I was like omg so expensive! I was like ehh this is my first time so might as well try it out. It wouldn't hurt. So I then bought the most expensive drink out of the whole menu and it was the matcha milkshake! I recently learned about the different quality types of matcha, so when I learned that this place served first harvest matcha (aka highest quality) I had to try Drinks: Matcha latte (hot/iced) My first time trying it, my boyfriend got just a regular hot matcha latte (with oat). He said the staff did not recommend adding sugar, so he didn't add any. I really enjoyed it even without the sugar, but if you're not a fan of matcha in the first place I wouldn't say this would convert you. Kuro mitsu (only served iced) The second time I went by myself in the afternoon and got the kuro mitsu (brown sugar) matcha latte (with oat) and ever since then I've been HOOKED. The brown sugar is SOOOO good, it adds a sweet smoky ish flavor to the matcha. It made me think, if I could combine a xingfutang brown sugar boba milk with the nippon cha matcha I'd have the perfect drink XD I will say it's VERY strong, as in I thought it'd be a nice afternoon drink but I couldn't finish it because it felt like too much caffeine (I already had coffee in the morning). I put it in the fridge and drank the rest the next day and it was still good!!! Hojicha (special) (hot/iced) I've also tried their hojicha latte (iced, unsweetened, with oat).
