I ordered the Kuro Mitsu Hojicha Latte, the order came out quickly. It was slightly busy when I arrived but the line moved fast. This drink has to be one of THE BEST matcha lattes I've ever had. Make sure to stir it all in so you get the matcha, the creaminess of the milk, and the sweetness from the brown sugar. The matcha was so good, that I bought the matcha they used. They sell different varieties of matcha, and other teas. Def check this place out! read more

Nippon Cha is a small store. There was only one small table inside and someone was sitting at it when we entered. We ordered on the iPad by the door and the drinks were prepared quickly. The matcha yuzu lemonade was light and refreshing. The matcha and yuzu flavors were strong but not overpowering and it was overall a very smooth and tasty drink! read more

Very cute and authentic place - I got a iced Hojicha latte with oat milk. This is my favorite drink and it did not disappoint! I only recently came to like it from having it in Japan and this comes pretty close. I'm by no means an expert but it was a little chalkier than I'd like. Still very delicious, and less bitter than green tea. The staff was very sweet and friendly, I'll definitely come back to try this hojicha icecream! Just have to figure out if it's lactose free haha. read more

They hand whisk their matcha here which is cool to see. They also offer different types of dairy options with the drinks. I ordered oat milk but it felt like it overpowered the whole drink after. It was a nice, refreshing treat on a hot humid day. The servers were friendly and let us have cups of water too to cool off. read more

Nippon Cha - Matcha Lemonade, Matcha Brown Sugar, Matcha Iced Latte - Tea Rooms Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Nippon Cha is a gorgeous spot with good matcha. I meant to get a classic matcha latte, but when I saw the Kuro Mitsu Matcha Latte I had to have it. My blood sugar was low, so the idea of a brown sugar latte was very appealing. This essentially tastes like half brown sugar boba, half matcha. If you get this iced, make sure to grab a straw so you can thoroughly combine the matcha with the sugar. I didn't and swirled the drink foolishly during my 15 min walk. It worked, but super inconvenient. They don't have a huge menu, which I quite like. The cafe had an open door today because of the beautiful spring weather which made it feel inviting. I heard really good reviews before coming and I do think it lived up to them -- but there wasn't anything super special in my opinion. It was still a solid drink though! If I'm thirsty in the area again I'd gladly stop back. read more

This is a great matcha teashop off of Bedford Av. The matcha is high quality and reasonably priced. There are two tables to sit inside if you want to stay and catch up with a friend. The ambiance is quite gorgeous. I got a hot matcha and it was not powdery at all which is what I appreciate about matcha. They prepare the tea pretty quickly and the cashier/staff was friendly. Nippon Cha - Entrance - Tea Rooms Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

~ Matcha Tiramisu ~ Legit disappointed. Saw a lot of raving reviews online, but turns out to be a trap. Matcha flavour is non-existence. The lady finger is bone dry (and not soaked in any liquids), not even the cream can save the dryness as the cream is very thick, with a texture that's very different from a traditional tiramisu (which is supposed to be more soft and silky smooth). So it failed as a matcha dessert, and failed as a tiramisu. ~ Matcha Lemonade ~ I regret being so adventurous. This has no matcha flavour. More like a normal lemonade but without the strong lemony taste. ~ Matcha Latte (w/ oat milk) ~ This is actually pretty good. Very smooth, and with a decent amount of matcha flavour! This I recommend. ~ Hojicha ice cream ~ Surprisingly good!! It's actually got a good hojicha taste, and the texture is quite smooth and creamy. Hojicha is rare in NYC, good hojicha is even more scarce. If I have an ice bag with me, would prob buy some extra to stock them at home! Will I be back? No (but maybe for the hojicha ice cream) I don't like the matcha tiramisu, the matcha latte you can probably find similar ones in other shop so I may not return just entirely for this latte. But the hojicha ice cream, I may come back for it if I am in the neighbourhood. read more

＊Matcha Tiramisu THE BIGGEST MISTAKE IN MY LIFE. This was honestly the WORST matcha dessert I've ever had. I could barely taste any matcha. The ladyfinger was dry and hard as if it has been frozen for a long time. Read a lot of good reviews on their tiramisu, so I doubted whether it was an off day or I had a prob w my tastebuds. I scanned thru some reels, found that the whipping cream and ladyfingers in most of the others' tiramisu also looked deadly dry. We didn't want to force ourselves to gnaw the tiramisu, and ended up disposing it after few bites. ＊ Matcha Lemonade Skip it. Another trap. The soda was overpowering and didn't blend well with matcha. Plus the matcha flavor was almost invisible. ＊ Matcha Latte w/ Oat Milk Plot twist. Their matcha latte actually hit the spot. It should be the safest choice in the menu. Of course it was incomparable to the ones in Japan/Asia, yet it was above average in NYC. If I pass by Nippon Cha again, I will still grab another Matcha Latte from them. ＊ Hojicha Ice Cream Didn't plan to get their ice cream at first as it was served in packaged cup. My friend insisted to try one and it was actually quite satisfying. Both of us prefer intense matcha/hojicha so we had a high standard on all tea desserts. The hojicha flavor was adequate to satisfy our cravings. It was worth to stock up their hojicha ice cream at home. My Recommendations: Matcha Latte, Hojicha Ice Cream Worth Returning ? Yes but only for the drinks. read more

I was so glad that Nippon Cha decided to open a store in Williamsburg because their Queens location is just too far for me to want to travel to. The matcha latte was great. They prepare it without sugar normally, but you can add either simple syrup or honey. I requested a minimal amount of honey. They also have milk alternatives without an additional charge. The foam was perfect on the latte, and the matcha was strong enough. The matcha tiramisu on the other hand didn't have much of a matcha taste despite the dusting of matcha powder on top. However, it was very soft and light. There's not a lot of seating, so be prepared to take your drink and/or food to go. If you're lucky enough to get a seat, it is a nice place to have a chat. read more

When I saw that one of my Bayside favs is now in Brooklyn, I was delighted! Nippon Cha now has a beverage outpost in Williamsburg, where they are serving their desserts and amazing matcha beverages. The cafe also has a few tables for enjoying your beverages. It's hard to pick just one drink (so I'll be back for more), but today I got the kuro mitsu (brown sugar matcha latte) with oat milk. A little late to write this review, but as I was thinking recently of places I've been to the past 6 months that I wanted to write a Yelp review for, this was one of the first places that came to mind... I had the fortune of living in the Williamsburg area for about a month leading into the 2022 NYC Marathon. I think the Williamsburg location was only open for a couple months by the time I rolled around. The place specializes in first harvest matcha, which gives some really intense matcha flavor. If you're not a fan of the earthy tones that matcha gives, this will not change your mind, but as someone who is a big fan of matcha, I absolutely loved it. The first time I came I tried the matcha oat milk latte and you can definitely tell there's a different quality than your regular matcha lattes you might get at other places. Subsequent times I've gone I have either gotten the hojicha latte and kuro mitsu. I love hojicha in general and have only found one other place (not in NYC, but still in the US) that really rivals the quality. The kuro mitsu though is by far my favorite drink from there though. The mixture of brown sugar, oat milk, and matcha makes for an amazing pairing. Definitely something I still think about whenever I have a sweet drink craving. During that month stint, I would probably go here at least 2 times a week. It really is that good. Is it a bit pricey? Sure, but you're literally in NYC... not to mention the quality is definitely there. Went so much that the owner recognized the last time I went to visit. Gave me a sample of another tea they were planning on adding to the menu that they had exclusive rights to the tea farm from which was really neat. Super friendly staff and I am definitely rooting for them to succeed! If I ever get the chance to move back to NYC, this is definitely on a short list of places I want to return back to! read more

You know how many people say Japanese service providers provide one of the most astute, welcoming and friendly service ever? My experience here with Angel, one of the owners of Nippon Cha, embodied what exemplary service truly looks like. Not only was he friendly and kind, but he also made sure we liked what we ordered whilst sharing his recommendation based on our preferences. The drinks we ordered were phenomenal and leaves me wanting more! M6 favorite was the matcha float which was a scoop of matcha ice cream infused in an iced matcha latte. What's amazing about this drink is that it starts off relatively mild in sweetness, but gradually becomes slightly sweeter as the ice cream melts and blends in with the rest of the drink! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the matcha float if you're a matcha lover! Thank you for the amazing service and I can't wait to come back! Thank you for reading and good luck! (: read more

The owners are so nice. She made me a very good matcha latte. Personally, I love it, it is a little bitter taste from the real matcha powder, and it smells so good! However, My sister thinks it's too much matcha powder. So depend on your reference, you can let her know. The shop also sells merchandise, and pre-made food, you can ask the owner preheat your oyamada if you like warm meal, so check it out if you want to buy some high quality matcha powder, and quick lunch. TOCHUCHA LATTE Tochucha is an herbal tea and I opted to try their latte which is mixed with coffee. It was a very well made latte and the milk was smooth, creamy, and not too sweet or bitter. The tochucha added notes of grassiness, dare I say seaweed? At first I was like i'm not sure i I like this but at the end I would say that I definitely appreciate it and want to try the tochucha on its own next time. This place prides itself on its authentic and high quality tea so don't miss a chance to try their matcha drinks in particular, and my personal favorite tea - hojicha. They also have a fridge section with onigiri and japanese snacks if you're looking to munch on something. They have matcha tiramisu too and matcha parfait ! Wish their matcha flavor was stronger! Nippon Cha is a cute little shop with a small menu. I personally wish they offered a few more options, such as matcha strawberry latte or matcha mango latte. I ordered a matcha latte with oat milk and a matcha tiramisu. The tiramisu was delicious! Light and airy! But I just wish the matcha flavoring was a bit stronger! Same goes with the latte, I tasted mostly only oat milk but not enough matcha taste. I understand not everyone can tolerate the super strong bitter matcha, however for a store that specialize in matcha, I had higher expectations in the matcha flavoring. read more

I came recently on a strong recommendation by a friend. I got a kinako matcha latte, and was really pleasantly surprised. The matcha flavor is quite strong, nice earthiness, but definitely was a bit on the grittier side. What I really enjoyed was the kinako. There were bits of it, and it provided pops of sweetness and nuttiness. It didn't overwhelm the drink, but just enough to enhance it! We also got a normal matcha latte, but made the mistake of getting a large. When it says large, it really is huge, so make sure you're ready to drink a lot of matcha latte. Overall also pretty good, but in that large of a size, the matcha flavor was definitely a bit more masked. There's a decent amount of seating, with a nice shielded outdoor area. If you're in the area and want some matcha, definitely give this spot a try! read more

I love matcha and green tea a lot. Anything matcha I will get. So I decided to stop by this tiny tea shop since it had matcha written all over it. I was pretty brain dead for a minute thinking it was affordable until I saw the prices on the self checkout. I was like omg so expensive! I was like ehh this is my first time so might as well try it out. It wouldn't hurt. So I then bought the most expensive drink out of the whole menu and it was the matcha milkshake! The milkshake was pretty good! It was a good consistency and sugar level was alright. You can see how they make it when you order it. They do it fast too so there's no long wait. came here on a scorching summer evening and decided to get the kuro mitsu (brown sugar matcha) and the hojicha ice cream. the drink wasn't overwhelmed with matcha, but with that being said, i wished the matcha flavor could be a bit stronger. also, maybe because i had the perception of brown sugar being super sweet from typical bubble tea shops, i thought it would make the latte overly sweet. but, fortunately, i was wrong, and the brown sugar had a subtle sweetness to it, which ended up being a good palette cleanser after a hefty dinner. now to the good part! i love hojicha, so i had to try something that was hojicha flavored. we were already getting a drink with matcha, so say less to ice cream! the ice cream was creamy and had a decent hojicha flavor. it was a shame that it melted so quickly from the hot weather. also, there is only one table with two seats in the store, and it felt hotter inside than out. the staff were attentive and showed us the top customer favorites. i love how the drinks are made right in front of you. i would definitely visit again to try other drinks and stock up on the hojicha ice cream! read more

Been here various times as it is so conveniently located and I love matcha too much not to try! Everything I've had here has been very good, if I am craving a good authentic matcha it is the only option in the area for me. I will say that my favorite option here has been the standard unsweetened matcha latte. a great little grab and go matcha spot in williamsburg. kiosk ordering with limited seating (one table indoors with two to three tables outside), plus service was more on the hands off side but staff was pleasant. matcha itself was delightful -- i ordered a matcha latte, and while it is on pricier side (~$10), the matcha flavor is strong and authentic. lightly sweetened but not overly so, overall a nice treat to end my day. would love to come back to try the rest of the menu and maybe buy products so i can make it at home. read more

TLDR Come here for high quality matcha!!! If you like brown sugar boba milk drinks, definitely try to kuro mitsu matcha latte! I recently learned about the different quality types of matcha, so when I learned that this place served first harvest matcha (aka highest quality) I had to try Drinks: Matcha latte (hot/iced) My first time trying it, my boyfriend got just a regular hot matcha latte (with oat). He said the staff did not recommend adding sugar, so he didn't add any. I really enjoyed it even without the sugar, but if you're not a fan of matcha in the first place I wouldn't say this would convert you. Kuro mitsu (only served iced) The second time I went by myself in the afternoon and got the kuro mitsu (brown sugar) matcha latte (with oat) and ever since then I've been HOOKED. The brown sugar is SOOOO good, it adds a sweet smoky ish flavor to the matcha. It made me think, if I could combine a xingfutang brown sugar boba milk with the nippon cha matcha I'd have the perfect drink XD I will say it's VERY strong, as in I thought it'd be a nice afternoon drink but I couldn't finish it because it felt like too much caffeine (I already had coffee in the morning). I put it in the fridge and drank the rest the next day and it was still good!!! Hojicha (special) (hot/iced) I've also tried their hojicha latte (iced, unsweetened, with oat). The roasted flavor is very strong, and noticeably better than what I've ever had before. I wish I had gotten it hot, and next time I might even add some sweetness to it, but it doesn't really need it. I'd recommend this if you don't like matcha! Ambiance/Space: There's no seating area, but on a nice sunny day they put chairs outside on the curb! Service: The staff is very friendly, and I think the past few times I've gone the owner was the one making the matcha, which by the way has NO clumps and is perfectly smooth. He's very friendly and enthusiastic about the tea! read more
