I have nothing to say about the store's selection, pricing, location, etc. I think it all makes perfect sense. It's a Nike Running store, which specializes in running attire (go figure) and the brand is Nike, so $$$ also makes sense. But, I was surprised by the sales associates' lack of attention to customers. Don't get me wrong, a sales associate did approach me and helped me out while I tried on a pair of Nike Flyknits, but his unenthusiastic, apathetic personality was really uncomfortable. Not to mention, he was hovering over me, standing there with his arms together as if he wanted to say "Any day now." I went in there with full intentions of buying a pair of Flyknits, but my experience with the sales associate helping me and the overall vibe from the other associates, made me feel unwelcome and I wasn't willing to spend my time, let alone my money, there again. read more

I came into the store today for the first time. I'm a complete Nike lover, aka, Sneakerhead. I came in to try on some shoes and perhaps buy a pair or two. A female worker, who was standing by the door, gave me a nasty look as I entered. No "hello" or "can I help you". The store wasn't overly crowded and there were several people that had the chance to ask me if I needed help. They could have at least greeted me! I was in the store maybe 10 minutes, several minutes were spent just standing there, waiting to be acknowledged. I felt invisible. I've never felt like that in a store before. It was not a good feeling at all. I would hate to think it was because of the color of my skin, but it does happen. It's just never happened to me. I will never shop at this particular store again. This place is hit or miss. I was excited when I saw that a Nike would open. I got sad when all they would sell are running shoes and apparel. Not that it's bad, but their selection here is super limited. You're better off finding it online on Nike's website or other retailers at the mall. When you walk in, sometimes they greet you. Other times, they don't. Come on, man. I'm here walking around aimlessly trying to get someone's attention. They do the treadmill test to find the right shoe. Eh. It's not like the custom make it as if you are sponsored by Nike. They'll just point you to the shoe that would give them commission. There's a lot more apparel than shoes it seems. Would rather have a Nike with more shoes. And a better selection of shoes. How does a Nike location, that specializes in running shoes, not have the Flyknit Lunar 3's on the day they drop. They showed me what my options were, and assisted me as best they could. Edit: This store has significantly improved their customer service. In fact, Abraham is really great and makes our shopping experience fun and efficient. Came in to return an item and no one could explain how their return service works. Because it was gift we could get store credit and order in-store, but not a gift card credit for online. That took me one sentence to explain. It took them 15 minutes and 3 employees to finally make sense. The male employee helping us had a terrible attitude and a problem for every solution. It was truly remarkable how he could make an issue out of any question. And then not answer it. What was most annoying: the female employee said in lieu of not being able to get a gift card return to order online, we can expedite shipping when we ordered in-store. While paying, the male employee said it would arrive in 3-5 days even though it was clear we wanted expedited. He explicitly said "we do not ask you if you want expedited shipping and I decide on a case-by-case basis..." wtf? So after all that he wasn't going to offer us expedited shipping because our case wasn't worth offering? I wasn't aware that employees could decide stuff like that? It's more like store policy. Selection is abysmal and pricing is a tad higher than online. Regardless, I purchased a pair of new shoes from here because sometimes, you just need them right here right now. I try one one of them to confirm they fit, and they do. Success. Clerk rings them up at a price $30 higher than online. I mention this and he says "Oops", scans them again, and charges me the right price. Wait. What? Did he just guess the price or something? How could he scan something twice and get two different prices each time? Something isn't right here. At all. Whatever, right? Head home. Take shoes out of the box and wouldn't you know it, one of them (the one I didn't check) is a completely different size. Are kidding me? Your ONE JOB is to confirm the shoes you gave me are the right size and then charge me the correct price. You did neither. So I had to go all the way back there and return them. The employee I dealt with was nice and seemed more pissed at the dumbo that gave me the wrong shoes, which was good to see. I'm sorry but this is the reason why brick and mortar stores are going under. When we first tried to go there we were a little bit too late and it was closed. When we finally got to see it i was a little disappointed in the selection. I expected more apparel, more colorways in lunar flyknits and air pegasus. The Nike running store at The Grove has so much more to offer. Also, there was a running club that night so customer service was virtually non-existent. I couldnt tell who was an employee watching the sales floor or who was handling the run club that night. So I was just browsing with no one to ask questions to... Oh well, I'll go back one day. Hopefully my experience will be better. read more

Allie is an INCREDIBLE asset to the Nike team. During my initial phone call to the store, we discovered that I just missed the 30% discount for Nike+ members. She then suggested I purchase a $100 gift card, which came with a $20 bonus gift card, and advised I fill out the Nike survey which would earn me another bonus $10. So altogether, she helped me get an extra $30 off. Coming from a hospitality background, Allie is stellar all-around. This team member simply answered a question that was asked, and she did it perfect. She didn't have to go above and beyond - but she did, and should be recognized for it. I've been a really good customer to Nike for quite a while now. But this last visit didn't go quite well. I bought some stuff online came into the store and asked if I could exchange the size and the person helping me ended up putting my money in a gift card because she said "it was much easier" and so she did and once I received the item I didn't end up like it so I tried to go return it and they told me I could only get a gift card (no cash back) and I tried explaining to them that I didn't buy it with a gift card but with my card and they wouldn't do. Been here a handful of times to see what new running gear Nike has to offer. It's an actual Nike store so prices are pretty steep imo. Outlets are the way to go for me if you aren't one of those that need to have the newest things out. As for the store, it is very organized and has a range of running items. The "athletes" aka workers are pretty helpful. They are young so they are super serious and can help you choose what you need. The Pasadena Nike Run store used to have weekly running activities with the Nike Team but recently, they have not had any events in Pasadena. Kind of a bummer because most of the events are in SaMo or the Grove so people living in the 626 have to drive out there instead of having one closer. But back to the store, the gear is plentiful and pretty much has everything. The store in conveniently located on Colorado so you can pop on in while perusing the other stores or grabbing a meal. At least we can save Yelpers from going to the trouble of shopping here, with its completely dismissive and ineffective staff. It took me 15 minutes to try two sizes of the same shoe, with 4 people on the floor and no other customers in sight. I interrupted a personal conversation to ask for a shoe, and it was delegated it to someone else who must have been out smoking a cigarette (just joking) ..... I waited and waited ....... She arrived with a shoe I hadn't asked for and was downright incredulous, and peeved at me! She had another box with the shoes I HAD asked to see, which I had to get her to open .... Ive been to this location two times. Ive never really been a fan of Nike shoes except for a pair of Jordans I owned over 10 years ago. Well I decided I wanted to look into getting a pair of Pegasus 37's since I started focusing on running this year and a healthier lifestyle. I arrived at the store and waited outside for a few people go leave as directed by a Nike employee. The employee was very nice and we chatted for a few minutes. When I finally went into the store no employee inside greeted me even though they were just standing around. I went straight to the running shoes and grabbed the Pegasus. Still no one came up to ask if I needed help. Eventually I asked someone and they acted bothered that I did. Eventually they told me they didn't have my size in store. So I left and ordered online from Nike. After a few test runs I decided the shoes weren't as comfortable as I hoped. I went back to the store to return them. There was no one standing outside this time so I walked in. Again wasn't greeted inside. Waited at the counter and a girl ended up helping me. At first she didn't seem happy that I was returning the shoes, but once I asked about potential replacements she turned out to be very nice and helpful. She is the only reason I gave the store 2 stars. Other than that its a 1 star. I noticed a bunch of her coworkers just standing around not helping people in the store. Someone else was standing behind me also for a return. Another employee behind the counter wouldn't even acknowledge the customer until her manager asked her if she was busy. The customer service at this location is pretty poor. Eventually decided to buy Hokas and so far they are so much better. read more

I had come here yesterday and was looking for new running shoes as mine are falling apart. I was greeted right away but josi, she was nothing but knowledgeable and really smiley and hilarious. She recommended three different shoes for my needs and all of them were amazing so I ended up buying the Pegasus with Flash! The selection here is a runners dream! They have most fly knits, gym and trainers, and also every day shows like the Roshes *which I learned are NOT running shoes*. Prices are a little high but that's just Nike I suppose. Also I have not felt very motivated to run lately but I had learned that there is a run club on Wednesdays at 630 where a huge group meets and runs together! Parking sucks. Paid $12 because I went once, bought shoes, then came back hours later to switch out the color. $6 each time. However....... parking is super easy. The pay lot is on Fair oaks and Colorado, mere steps from the Nike store. It's not fun paying for parking, but considering the area, it's pretty convenient. I suppose everyone writes reviews based on their particular experiences, which is completely fair - but I'm so surprised to see the low-ish reviews. The two experiences I've had here were perfectly fine. First of all - the storefront says "Nike Running" so I'm not sure why people are confused about the smaller selection. It's equivalent to being sad that a women's clothing store doesn't have men's clothes. Though the Yelp title needs to get updated for sure. Though, I waited in line once to get to the H&M in Pasadena when it opened only to be greeted by a stampede of tube-tops, dresses, and purses. Not a men's outfit in sight...that was kinda sad...Yea. ANYWAYS, in regards to pricing - it's Nike... Yes, there are other stores down the street with different choices/prices but, truly, you should come into a Nike Store knowing the price-point already. The customer service has been just fine and I've never had a problem there either. People were very attentive and I've even called the store and the associate was extremely informative and polite. Scoured many Nike stores in the SoCal area trying to find the perfect pair of shoes! My girlfriend and I were in the area and decided to give it another shot and we are so happy that we did. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and asked if we needed any help. The store is very organized, though it's not a large shoe selection. They do have the most popular colors though. We were helped by the nicest and most attentive woman named Katelyn. She spent a lot of time helping the two of us out even though we asked for many different shoes and spent forever deciding between pairs. We eventually both found a pair that we loved! My least favorite nike location in terms of service and approachability. I bought shoes here and got home to realize they gave me two left feet. Went back to fix the issue and went home to realize I had now been given two right feet. Yes, I should have double checked but I assumed the staff would double check it this time. Now I have to go back for the 3rd time to fix this problem and the closest nike store is about 25-30 minutes away. Was given no apology the first time and the employee who helped me told me they might be out of my size as if it was my fault the shoes were messed up. I bought the shoes for work because I'm on my feet for long periods of time. Two weeks after the initial purchase I still can't wear my new shoes. The company has made no apology for the mistake. I thought Nike was better than this, need to hire some competent employees at this location. I'm so annoyed with this place that I felt the need to make a yelp account just so I could complain.. Overall if your just looking for some Nike apparel go ahead, but if you need any type of customer service, help with selection, or common courtesy GO TO A DIFFERENT LOCATION. read more

Amazing customer service. My daughter and I had been at the Nike store at the Citadel earlier on in the day during the Christmas shopping madness and found a lot of great deals. When we got home, my daughter realized that we purchase a small instead of the medium that fit her better. I didn't want to go back to LA during the Christmas rush but knew if I waited too long the pants she liked would most likely be gone. Anyhow, we happened to be going into Old Town Pasadena that evening and my daughter wanted to see if the people at the Nike store in Pasadena could help us. They didn't just help us, they far exceeded our expectations with being able to return the pants that were too small and helped us get the right size shipped to us. I dropped by the Nike store a few hours ago and found the perfect pair of running shoes. All in all It was a good experience. First off, the service was excellent. I wasn't an easy customer and tried 6 pairs before making my final decision, but the staff (George, I think) was extremely patient with me and made good suggestions throughout. They have a treadmill where you can run for a few minutes to have them analyze your step. I thought I stepped fairly neutral, turns out I tend to slightly over-pronate. I've always wanted to have my run analyzed and was glad that they had the tools on hand. The selection was good. It looks like they carry every Nike running shoe with about 3 color combinations each + some trail shoes and a few casual selections. They also have the full line of running bottoms, tops and some spiffy new reflective gear I hadn't seen at other stores. You can't compare their selection to a place like dicks or sports authority who carry shoes from dozens of brands. But if you're a Nike fan like I am, it really doesn't matter. I'm puzzled by some of the poor reviews. I had stopped in once before tonight and both times I've been in the staff was friendly and attentive. Final note: This store is not for everyone. Think of it like buying your iPhone directly from the Apple Store instead of Best Buy or T-Mobile. The staff here know more about Nike gear than anyone else. They can also advise you about running routine and even host group runs. It's a premium experience that costs only a few bucks more than other shops. This is a fairly small Nike store (esp. compared to Santa Monica or Beverly Hills), but justified for the area. I believe the initial concept was to focus on running, but the merchandise has slowly morphed to include lifestyle / casual shoes & clothing as well. Big plus for me is Nike's return/exchange policy - you can run in their shoes for up to 30 days and if the shoes don't work for you, you can exchange for a different model. I see this as a huge plus. I have exercised this option a few times and never ran into questions - they always gladly did the exchange. read more
