First time at the Highland Park WSS. Small but clean location. I honestly expected it to be more of a mess so I was pleasantly surprised. We went in to look for new shoes for my son. Found a couple that he was interested in. Inquired with an employees about a different size. He checked the back and then checked his handheld device for inventory. My son's size was not in stock but we were satisfied with the employee's willingness to help. After a little back and forth he decided on all white hightop Nike's. Fairly priced. The store seemed to get a little busy while we were browsing but we got lucky when it was checkout time. No line. No line. Fast in and out. This WSS is kind of in a obscure location, but if you're able to find it, it is there. I did find shoes that I had wanted, but had to get them in a men's size which is no problem. The staff was kind and helpful, but they don't have a huge selection compared to some of the other locations. Such as their sale section was pretty empty, but luckily they did have the shoe I was looking for. I can't say that I wouldn't necessarily go to a different location next time.. read more

Plenty of free street parking plus a large free parking lot in the rear. Went for back to school backpacks and tennis shoe shopping. Greeted by a friendly employee the moment we entered. Good selection of backpacks and reasonable prices (a couple bucks less than Amazon). Was offered help by a friendly employee in a timely manner. Store was very clean and well organized. Great appearance overall. Didn't find the size we needed for tennis shoes. Employee offered to locate at another store. Chose to order online instead and size I needed was in stock. I was a loyal customer of WSS for years, until now :(. Yesterday (9/27/22) I was looking for a pair of slip resistant work shoes. I purchased a pair of Skechers Tactical. They fit perfectly fine and were very comfortable. I was excited to use them for work and then instantly started slipping . I almost fell and almost injured myself. I was literally at work for 15 minutes when I was sent home. Today I returned to the store and explained my story. Since I "wore" them. There are no refunds or exchanges. These shoes are Brand NEW! Instead she told me to contact Skechers to ask for a refund and that WSS was just a third party and there wasn't anything they can do about it . I suppose she felt bad for me and offered me 20% off on "future item purchase ". What makes you think I am ever coming back? Word of mouth is the best advertisement and I'll make sure to tell family and friends to just stay away from third party companies and to buy directly from the manufacturer. I came here to buy some comfortable new shoes for work. I went up to pay for them and was helped out by a male employee. Guy must have been stoned or something because he looked at the shoes and bagged them right up. Came back and asked to speak with the manager as I wanted a swap for a new pairs as that what was I thought I was purchasing. I was helped out by a "manager" Ana Mejia. She was immediately defensive stating that her employees wouldn't sell me this. I told her otherwise. She went to check the cameras and she couldn't pull up the feed. She stated that she reached out to corporate and they will have to follow up with me. They never followed up I called her back and she stated that corporate has watched the camera feed twice and determined that the employee checked the shoes and there was no way he would have sold me these. Even though this is the closest shoe store to me, I can't give them my business any longer. They will not exchange defective shoes if they have been worn, even once. So basically they use the excuse they just sell the products, but refuse to stand behind the product. The manager said he couldn't exchange them because maybe my son "was kicking a ball", and then proceeded to explain that Adidas Superstars (shell toes for us old folks) were not athletic shoes. Go to the Nike store, returns for up to 90 days even if they are worn. read more

I go in here every couple months to check out the inventory and the sale section. This is not the biggest WSS but it is clean and well organized and the workers leave you alone to browse. No high pressure sales or hovering salesmen! I have bought a couple pairs of Vans or Converse here for my son at great prices and a pair of Avia tennis shoes for myself. Great place to find sneakers for cheap! Gone here many times. Sometimes you find sneakers you like sometimes you don't. But it is a great place to shop for sneakers that are not to expensive. First time checking out WSS and had a positive experience. Private parking lot (a bit sketchy, wouldn't hang out here at 2 in the morning but no fighting for meters or anything), was greeted when I entered, well-organized with a nice mix of prices. I spotted womens' shoes for $3.97 (!!), ended up buying flats for $12.99 and was most impressed with their large selection of kids, particularly infant, shoes. I was browsing the bigger kids' section for elementary girls' shoes and wasn't as impressed with the selection (mostly overly-girly with bright pink sparkles, various fad characters) but great for basics like vans, converse, shoes. Sports shoes seemed to be a bit pricey (spotted basketball shoes for $75 for young boys). They also have a small selection of clothes, have a free rewards program where you get $10 for every $250 you spend. read more

Store had 4 people working. When I asked for help the person was upset for having to wait on me. There was nobody in line but while workers talked I waited in line. The person in front called the cashier to come back to the cash register. I asked about a code to get money off on my shoes. It was from a Yelp ad. The girl ignored me and acted like I did not ask. I have never been treated so disrespectfully at a store.I do not recommend this location on a Friday afternoon. read more

Beware! No exchanges or store credit without receipt. I bought a pair of Skechers for my granddaughter, and within two weeks the velcro straps on both shoes had separated. Since I didn't have a receipt, though I did have my credit card charge showing the purchase date, they would do nothing. The manager, Gabriel, even stated that he didn't believe the shoes were only two weeks old. I had to agree that they looked pretty ratty with their disintegrating velcro straps, and they had been played in daily for two weeks, but they certainly lost a customer forever for implying that I was lying about when I bought them. read more

I bought myself and my son a pair of shoes here and after I went home and laced them up I realized the shoes did not fit well so I put them back in the box and took them to exchanged them for a better fitting shoe. I recently was there for the Jordan 13 release and was very disappointed. My boyfriend and I were 2nd and 3rd in line. We had been waiting for hours.The so called MANAGER JOSE PEREZ is very rude and unfair, he also makes no sense. A car pulls up and goes inside and he jumped them in front of us and he said they were taking the size 11 which we were waiting for. He said they were getting the pair because we never checked in with him and the rules on the front door never stated we needed to check in with him. He gave attitude and told us we were never there when the guy in front of us even told him we had been there.Even the person that pulled up told him we were there when they walked in.but he kept insisting we were never there and that we were suppose to check in with him.Previously to the other people showing up my boyfriend kept going in to try to ask him questions and he was no where on the floor the security said the manager was busy in the back. I told him he was an ignorant manager because it doesn't state that anywhere. He then was fumed by my remark and told me "you ain't getting shit!" Now from experience with customer service in highschool I learned that wether your right or not or whether the customer pisses you off you never speak to a customer in that way. I also had a previous issue with this same manager. For the jordan retro xi I wanted to pick up a pair of size 1 youth and called like 5 min before showing up. I was told they had it in stock. When I arrived Jose stated that someone had just walked out with the pair. I sent my brother in to ask for another locations number and my brother saw the size 1 youth behind the counter.
