Nice open space which makes this a casual but inviting space for people to grab some goods and also hang around a bit. I came here because of the rave reviews specifically for the chocolate croissant and cinnamon roll. When I came I got a cinnamon roll, a chocolate croissant, and a blueberry danish. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll because it wasn't overly sweet but it felt a little dry. I think I maybe got a bad croissant because it tasted a little burnt and there wasn't a lot of chocolate filling. The danish was tasty but didn't blow me away. I walked to Nick + Sons on a gorgeous Friday morning and waited in a very short queue to order - they have a sandwich board out front with the daily selections and you order from a table right at the entrance. I snagged a few of the croissants and danishes and a cold brew to go. I could tell just by looking at them these pastries were no joke. Y'all I could cry just thinking about the fact that I live in Texas and can't have these again tomorrow. They were ethereal. The knowledge and expertise it takes to execute puff pastry at this level cannot be understated. These pastries were gorgeously flaky, delicate, and perfectly balanced in flavor. Review for their breads only: Nope. Under/Overproofed/underbaked bread. Bread that has raw dough or tastes of raw flour. Foccacia that is dense, over salted, and greasy not in a good way. We tried their Almond Croissant, Maple Butter Biscuit, Cinnamon and Chorizo Cheese Balls. Everything is amazingly delicious with delicate texture. Best croissants I have ever had. Probably better or on par with that in France but I'll let the French debate that. I don't usually choose croissants and didn't even plan on coming but stumbled upon a line outside the shop and decided to pop on over. They had times for when certain items come out the oven but I decided on the ham and cheese and their vanilla and chocolate. You have to eat these fresh. I mean why else would you wait in line. The ham and cheese hit all the notes. Savory and pungent with the cheese while crispy and soft with the exterior and interior. It was heaven. The vanilla and chocolate was also great. I had this when it was cold so not as good but I'm sure it would've been great fresh out of the oven. Line moves pretty quick so just get in line and start looking over the menu. Almost tempted to not write a review to gate keep my favorite bakery in NYC but that feels like a public disservice. Arrived Sunday morning at 9 am and there was no line- around 10 am, there was definitely a substantial line so if you go, go early! We got a number of things to share - Razor Clam: amazing! We loved how buttery and lightly sweet the layers were. The vanilla custard and chocolate chips were evenly spread throughout the pastry. We wanted to get another one but it was sold out by the time we returned at 10 :( - Blueberry Sumac Danish: this one was my personal favorite! The croissant dough was light and buttery as well and just thin though that I didn't feel greasy and oily after eating it. The layers were well defined and puffy so it felt like a substantial bite full of flavor without being overwhelming. The vanilla custard was AMAZING. Someone feed this to me by a spoonful. - Chocolate Babka- this one was disappointing. It was really dense and the chocolate flavor was not super pronounced. Best place in East Williamsburg for fresh bread and pastries. This small shop just off of Grand street is the one of the unsuspecting wonders of Williamsburg. You know it's good because the line of locals that frequent this bakery know that all the best danishes go before 11 am, and Nick and Sons knows we will come crawling back for more every Thursday - Sunday. This bakery has become a quintessential piece of my New York experience and their sourdough loaves are a household STAPLE. There's nothing quite like a hearty piece of bread, made affordably and just a short walk from home. Believe they do some special coffees (lattes, etc.) but the Partners cold brew here is an easy grab for me each week. You must get there early and grab an assortment if you don't live in the area! The earlier you arrive the more likely you are to be able to pick up the good danishes. This bakery is still one of my favorite in the city. I went back hoping to grab some croissants at the end of the day but alas they were sold out. I was pleased to find that they still had apple tarts (5/5) and apple buns (4.5/5) which I have been wanting to try so I got a couple. And again, just wow. Arrived at around 9:15 on a Saturday morning and only had to wait about 10 min in line. I got a plain croissant and was expecting a normal, unmemorable tap my card and leave experience. But just after I paid at the counter, the guy who handed me my croissant came back and handed me another, saying it was because the first one he gave me was a bit small. This gesture was so kind and I appreciated the attention to detail. I didn't see anything out of the ordinary with the croissants to be honest. There is no indoor space at this location- you either walk up to the register or you wait in line outside until you get to go inside to the register. I was actually shocked there was a line which is what made me stay to see what the hype was about. I wasn't very hungry so i got a single sesame danish and kind of was expecting something like the turkish simit or a sesame bagel. That was not the case and it was WAY better than expected. Buttery and still warm- the sesame on it was just enough to make it slightly savory and fluffy inside. Absolutely worth the wait. I look forward to coming back for more another sunny day! read more

On a chilly Friday morning around 9 AM I just finished dropping off my dog for Boarding at Strutting Mutts across the street and was trying to yelp a good place for coffee. I was just about to skip and go home until I started driving and saw four people already standing outside of this walk up bakery. I pulled over immediately because if you see a line in New York you're compelled to wait in it. The staff was just as friendly as the customers waiting. Grabbed a chocolate croissant and an apple tart as recommended by a patron and indulged in flaky heaven when I returned home. Will definitely be checking out their pizza. My sister and I are here almost every weekend trying to wake up early enough to 1) grab a ham & cheese croissant 2) grab type of croissant / buns they have My personal favorite is their apple bun, they use leftover croissant dough and stuff it with some sweet apples in the middle, topppppppp notch. Next level stuff. The sugars caramelize and just add that additional texture and sweetness!!! Whenever they don't have croissants or buns when we arrive close to their closing time, I always try to get a danish (just a girl looking for flaky pastries!!) All their flavors sound so weird but are 10/10, you can't really go wrong with any of the options tbh. We were lucky enough to be there on a Saturday they had pizza. It's slightly different from regular pizza because they have a sourdough crust but man, fresh pizza always hits the spot!! Took about 20 minutes for them to make but we happily sat in the car eating the danish while waiting for the pizza!!!! Their sourdough breads are also out of this world, just wished they had a slicer but a good bread knife at home can easily fix that!!! The 3 stars are for the space and also the staff that don't wear hair nets to avoid hair falling into the breads/baked goods. However, the staff are nice and friendly. The croissants are my favorite. I'm a cinnamon lover but unfortunately their cinnamon bun doesn't make the cut. It doesn't have that strong cinnamon flavor which is key and it's mixed with sugar which isn't necessary making it blah. Plus the dough should be lighter and less dense. The space you choose to sell your product is also as important. It represents how much you care and shows your commitment to providing an overall wonderful experience. They had some delicious looking pastries. The board indicated that a lot were already sold out so you might want to get there early if you want your full pick. The cookie was pretty good. Have been wanting to try their croissants for a while!! I went on a weekend and waited in a line with about 15 people, it didnt take too long. The menu is extensive, and I tried to plain, zatar, and chocolate croissants. The chocolate croissants were small so they threw in a few extra which was really nice. These are really well-made. The outside shell is definitely a SHELL. It is crispy, and shatters when you bite into it. Really interesting. Trying to rip it apart was a little disappointing bc it just ended up crushing the croissant, when I wanted a fluffy chewy texture. The inside was still chewy and they were flakey and flavorful, but these arent the butteriest/fluffiest croissants ive had. read more

4.5 stars (May be a five if I try the croissant next time!) came here on a Sunday morning around 10, and waited maybe 10 minutes in line. My friend got the ham and cheese croissant and I got the honey bun, and a cinnamon roll and baguette to go. The honey bun was interesting, flaky on the top, soft fluffy dough inside, with a not too sweet glaze topped with sesame seeds. The cinnamon roll was very good, so soft on the inside with the perfect amount of sweetness where you could eat the whole thing and not be sick. I tried a bite of the croissant and while there wasn't much ham, the croissant was flaky (although on the more buttery side). Baguette was very solid, nice crispy crust and soft bread. Savory croissants and danishes are only served on the weekends. Coffee and cold brew is also available. So yummy. Pretty sure they're only open Thursday-Sunday now.
