It's not even 25% full and this is ridiculous. Small slivers of chickens.

Disappointing portions despite decent flavor. This visit felt like a tale of two dishes. 2 stars = It could have been better, and it definitely could have been better. I ordered to go. On the positive side, the Pork Bahn Mi was pretty good. The bread was fresh and chewy, the veggies were tasty, and the pork had good flavor. That said, the meat portion was noticeably light. It wasn't terrible, but a few more pieces of pork would have gone a long way. The real letdown was the Chicken Pad Thai my friend ordered. Pad Thai typically runs anywhere from $13-$19 or more around town, and this place caught my attention by pricing it at the low end ($13). Unfortunately, once you opened the to-go container, it was clear why. The portion was shockingly small--maybe 25% of the container filled--and there was barely any chicken. It honestly looked like a kid-sized portion. I have actually seen this trend with other places where you get less when you order to go. At the store I inspected the order and noticed this, so I mentioned it to the staff and was met with a shrug and silence. When I brought it to my friend (who's petite and loves pad thai), even she immediately asked, "Where's the meat?" She finished it and was still hungry--and that's never happened as she eats Chicken Pad Thai weekly. She confirmed with me that she was not pregnant (lol) so I ended up sharing my sandwich with her. She said it tasted fine, but nothing special, and definitely not worth $13. While the Bahn Mi was solid, the overall experience screamed shrinkflation. The lower price point felt like a bait-and-switch once you see the portion size. We've had Chicken Pad Thai at places like Sip Saam, 888, 1618, and others for slightly more money, but with far more food and chicken. We enjoy trying new spots, but this was a one-and-done for both of us. Saving a few ounces of noodles and a couple pieces of chicken might minimally help costs in the short term, but it hurts customer trust and satisfaction long term. Fair portions matter just as much as flavor--and unfortunately, this place missed that balance. The lack of response when I mentioned the small portion size made me feel dismissed as a customer which made the experience worse. Priorities, I guess.

This place lives up to the banh mi hype with good pricing you should always order extra Togo for home ! I ordered the grilled pork banh mi, bread was fresh and crispy. Pork was umami bomb with lemongrass notes. I only wished it had more meat. The spring rolls were also in the tiny side. The surprise was the shortbread cookies, I dare you eat try to ear just one! Service is fast casual in a nice modern interior.

NG Cafe is run by a very sweet couple and it is influenced by Viet and Thai cuisine. I got the Vietnamese egg rolls and Bun Cha Ha Noi they were great. The egg rolls were perfectly crunchy, crispy, and full of flavor. The Bun Cha Ha Noi was very unique; the pork cutlets had good texture but maybe could have had more umami. What the pork cutlets lacked was made up in the sauce as well as the rice vermicelli, which is a weakness of mine. Though a little pricey, Ng Cafe provides a nice, cozy atmosphere to chow on your favorite Thai and Viet bites.

A very cute family-owned Vietnamese restaurant! They had a large menu and also had some unique pastries and drink selections, service was so sweet. The restaurant itself was so nice, and well kept together. Food was home cooked with love!!

We just had the best Bánh Mì sandwiches ever at NG Cafe in Austin (Parmer and 35). Grilled Pork and Pepper Shrimp. The owner, Angie, makes her own bread. She was extremely nice and even gave us 2 pieces of their homemade Sesame Hollow Bread when we left.

The food: I have ordered takeout here for years but I ordered in and switched it up for a Pork Banh Mi this time. It was delicious. I pulled off the fresh jalapeños but the jalapeño spread eventually added up and overwhelmed me. The soup and lemonade cooled me right down though. The vibe: it had been years since I was last inside and they have really switched to a cafe feel in that time with a more limited menu and different look inside. Overall I liked it and it does differentiate them others in the market. Service: the staff is always friendly and food was on the table super quick.

Highly recommend!! The cafe is super cute and the service is friendly. Some tips when ordering- if you like the taste add pate to your banh mi! It adds so much to the sandwich and its a small add. Also, the shortbread cookies are AMAZING! Grab a box before heading out, you won't regret it!

NG cafe is a decent Vietnamese restaurant in Austin, they offer a variety of dishes (such as fried rice, noodles, etc). I ordered Singapore noodles and it tasted pretty okay, the portion is def on the smaller side. The interior feels hot and I think the AC was not working properly. Parking is widely available but the lot fills up quick, I ended up parking on the other side of the restaurant. Service is decent. Worth trying but probably won't visit again.

A very quaint and cute French Vietnamese cafe vibe. The music and decor are calming and inviting. The staff are kind and very friendly. We got banh mi tofu and banh mi combination. The bread was excellent you can tell it is fresh made daily. My husband felt the meat and pate was lacking a little bit in quantity. The vegetables are incredibly fresh. He said overall not quintessential viet taste but overall very good. I felt the tofu was fried very well and super fresh. We did feel price was a little high but for whatever reason food tends to be higher priced in Austin. A Costco bottle of coconut water is $5! I believe it's a $1 a bottle from Costco directly. Oh also, they give you egg drop soup or hot and sour as an appetizer when you dine in

This was my first time coming to NG Cafe, and I'm glad we did. From the outside, the restaurant is non-assuming and very low-key, however the inside is bright, spacious, and decorated well. Service was quick. They forgot our matcha latte, but quickly made it once I mentioned it to them. The food was solid. Sandwiches aren't my normal go-to food, but the grilled pork banh mi was a 8/10 good! My wife had the Classic Combo banh mi and said her's was a 9/10 good. If you're in the area and want good food that's quick, definitely consider coming to NG Cafe!

We went during a busy lunchtime on Thursday, but the ordering process at the counter went very fast. Since it is open seating, we found an empty table to sit at after ordering. Since it was lunchtime, our meals came with a complimentary soup, which was nice. We got the hot and sour soup, and it was great. It was more on the peppery side, but I loved it. The rest of the meal was good. They offer a wide selection of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai dishes.

Ng Cafe is just so perfect Took my family here for my birthday, and we all loved it- we tried a number of house specials and pastries, all 5 stars, no notes! I really think you could order anything on the menu and be happy. The house dumplings were the stand out fave for the kids, I loved my Banh Xeo. They make everything from scratch including the bread and the smells in here are amazing. The ambience is peaceful and the owners are so very kind and lovely. Please check out Ng Cafe!!

The restaurant itself has a lot of indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a bar. It seems like a nice place to have a meal. As for the food, we ordered: Pad thai with chicken, mild spice - unfortunately this was a bit dry for me, though the taste was good. Pad see ew with chicken - I liked their version and would probably get it again. Pad woon sen with pork - typically my favorite noodle dish and I think they did a good job. Garden roll - good but not as packed as others I've had, and at a higher price point. Pineapple fried rice with pork - I liked this but was a bit on the oily side. Tom kha soup - I thought this was very good and had a decent amount of chicken and mushrooms Overall I liked everything but some items I felt I had better versions of elsewhere. It's also on the pricier side. Still, if in central Austin I think it's a solid choice for Thai food.
