This a RE-POST REVIEW IS FOR NEWPORT EXTERMINATING - Yelp decided to remove my review today (4/20/16) saying that it appeared to be for a different company and it is not. Even though my services were not exterminating, this company was still hired by the bank who sold us our condo in 2012 to do the specified work below. So I am re-posting so people can see the poor quality of this installer, who is hopefully not currently working at the Company. ORIGINAL POST - I did not choose this company, they were assigned to replace a door in our new home during the escrow process. My first experience with their installers, they showed up and instead of doing what they were supposed to do (replace the door) they decided to make a call and just "repair" the door that was there. I am in the home-remodeling industry and unfortunately this is typical contractor behavior-the lazy way. In addition, they didn't even consult us about what they were trying to do, they were just going to do it, get out of there and hope we were ok with it. Needless to say I stopped him and told him we were promised a new door and that is what I expected. The new door (which was on the truck) wasn't painted so they had to push the install until after labor day. My husband took time off of work to be at the house so they could install the door. Once again a half-a$# job. The door was hung incorrectly, it was painted the wrong color and there were 2 dings on the outside they left un-repaired. They are lucky I wasn't home. They also didn't bring a shop vac with them to clean up and my husband had to vacuum before I got home with my 10-month old who would have loved to put those wood chips in his mouth. I called the office and the ONLY good thing about this company is the ladies they have working in the office. Andrea and Dara were very nice and professional. They had the installer call me back who continued to argue with me about the color. I ended up having to email them pictures to prove that they painted it wrong. Finally, they came back to repair the door and re-paint it (at a different time they had originally scheduled) . The re-hanging was done well and they fixed the dings on the outside but once again the paint job was sub-par. Some sections they missed entirely. They left the paint for us so I am not going to call them back. After a month, I don't want anything to do with this company ever again. I will touch up the door myself. read more

We have a 35 year old home in Irvine. Newport Exterminating came out and gave us a very thorough and comprehensive quote for Termite Tenting and Wood Repair. The Termite Tenting was good with no problems. The Wood Repair was extensive requiring a lot of very long pieces of new wood. Rick Ponce and his crew came out from Newport Exterminating. They were on time and amazing carpenters!! They removed a ton of old rotted wood from our home, replaced it with new wood cut perfectly to match the old, primed each piece, and did a fantastic job. I normally hate being negative but I have to share this one! The other night we heard a rodent of some kind in our fan in our master bath. Not being able to sleep in worry of a hairy unwanted pest entering our home, we sent an email to our association in hopes we could get their pest vendor out first thing the next day. I was at work and my wife (pregnant) was home waiting on Newport to call. First they cancelled and said they'll come the following day. Well, we want to sleep so we ask them to please come. The man who shows up is Jeff. He complains the entire time about how it's late (4:20pm FYI - normal people work until 5pm). My wife (pregnant) removes a large heavy box to show him the entrance to the attic. He doesn't offer to help at all! Then he complains about the size of the entrance. Finally after bitching he gets up there (according to the wife - with ease). He looks around for a while and finds no sign of rodents (so he says). He climbs down his latter and doesn't replace the attic cover nor does he clean up the crap that came out. (I almost killed myself climbing the closet shelves to replace - it was a little funny) He says the fan-vent runs to the roof. So, my wife asks him to go up on the roof to take a look. Again! He complains and says his latter isn't long enough etc. I am not originally from the area and I'm not sure how many options we have for pest control, but as long as Jeff (not sure on full name) works at this place I'm going to advise my association board not to work with them. A job is a job. There are a lot of people out there that are desperately in need of one. If a person is too lazy to do their job or doesn't enjoy their job, they should find another one. Also, when a person starts a job-task-project they should finish it. Clean up, replace and above all else CUSTOMER SERVICE! My one positive: I will say the dispatch person was very nice! This company is an absolute joke. Me and my wife are currently residents at the Gateway Apartment Homes in orange and this is the second time this has happened to us. I've complained to the office about it already but they don't seem to be much help. We've had a small ant problem in our home for a few weeks now and every time and it's been the same technician. The whole time he was speaking to us he seemed out of it as if he wasn't all there or on something and just gave off an uncomfortable vibe especially around my wife. He claimed to have gelled the cabinets in my apartment and I saw him act as if he was but after he left I noticed only one of my cabinets out of my whole kitchen was actually gelled. I'm not sure if he just ran out of what he was using and was too lazy to go get more, but either way this is ridiculous. I've also noticed around the apartment building a few of those small boxes they use for rats are either open or tossed around too. That doesn't really seem too safe. read more

James, who is tall and thin, was able to wiggle under the furnace and clean out the remains of a dumb dead bunny. It was a horrible job but James was quick, efficient, and clean. read more

This place has some issues and don't waste your time making an appointment with them. The one good review below is probably fake becuase ALL the others are terrible. I have one comment for them - BAIT AND SWITCH! I made an appointment with them to come over and explained all the details about what I wanted sprayed. Their price was slightly better than the other companies I called, so I confimed a date to proceed. A few hours later I got a call back from a very agravated and rude person named Dara (or similar) stating that my price had now doubled and did I want to keep the appointment or cancel? I told her to keep the appointmnet anyway and asked her why she was acting so agravated? Before I could get any sort of explanation she said "fine we'll cancel" and slammed the phone in my ear. I don't know who owns this place, but they need to get rid of their customer service person pronto or at least get them under control. Maybe business is so good they can afford to blow off appointments, but it looks like the bad reviews are starting to pile up on this place... Again, don't bank on them honoring their quote or even keeping their appointments - There are are much better choices in OC! read more

Newport Exterminating was picked by our realtor when we bought the property. John, the Inspector is difficult, rude and lazy. His customer service is TERRIBLE. He came out 2 hours later than scheduled, blaming others for his tardiness. I called N.E. after confirming that a follow up inspection was covered under warranty. Three contractors told me I had termites. When I shared with John, he asked if they were licensed and proceeded to interrogate me on the credentials of the 3 people, tell me about many instances of mis-reporting, how he's been in the business and knows that most people report wrong information. He came UNPREPARED and told me my call was not under warranty. I told him I confirmed prior and he said no. I showed him the report left out back by his technician and on my way there, he said just get the report you have in the house and provide a copy. I said if the leave our back is insufficient, I will but I would rather not go into the house and research if I can avoid it because you left your documentation. Sure enough, it was covered for 3 years. He started to remind me of the misinformation and I told him I would be inside working while he inspected. He said I'll just order a refumigation. I was flabbergasted he would order the $2700 service without inspection. His reply was "it looks like that's what you want from me, a free fumigation." I was beyond furious and told him he provided the most unprofessional service and attitude is unacceptable; he was 1) late, 2) without any documentation demanding I print for him and 3) now jumping to conclusions without inspecting, that no, I did not want unnecessary chemical treatment unless warranted. Update: September 22nd, I received a call from John; he believed we left on good terms. To his credit, after I confronted him about all points above, he did change his tone and proceeded in a professional manner. Although, his continuation included poking a lot of holes in the boards below my facia and said it was protocol. The holes required me to hire a contractor to repair and paint the boards which is not cheap. I do commend John for the outreach in an effort to make it better. Nonetheless, in business and life, people have to be professional and kind. Reviews allow us to share with others so they can choose a company to trust. We all have good and bad aways and overall, the collection of ratings will determine whether companies receive new or repeat business. Good day everyone! read more

Please avoid calling this place for your exterminating needs. I called on May 30th and made an appointment with a girl named Kaitlin for ant control services. I was asked for my address and square footage of my home which I provided. She asked for nothing more and told me I would receive a call the next day with an appointment date. I was called the next day with my appointment date of 6/4 and the total cost would be $65. The exterminator arrives at my house and told me I was quoted the wrong price and my new total would be $125. I called the manager Dara and she told me that the girl I was dealing was new and,honestly, had no idea what she was doing. She apologized and told me, for my trouble, the would offer the services for $85. She calls the pest control person, who I might add is already at my home, and tells him to start the job. The service person then proceeds to tell my husband that he can't start job because we didn't "prep" our house. We were never ever told by Kaitlin that our house needed to be prepped in any way. We were just told the appointment window and date of service. I'm thoroughly disappointed in the customer service and wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. read more

This company is a rip off entity. The inspected our home for sale and properly noted some wood rot on an unconnected overhang. With the report, they gave us an incredibly overpriced repair estimate. I had someone else do the work -- a carpenter, who did an excellent job and replaced and repaired exactly as noted by Newport Exterminating. I was then required to get a reinspection -- this company charged the full amount for a full inspection to take 1 minute and look at the previously infected area. And, they were difficult to deal with because they didn't do the repair -- even though the repair was done professionally and perfectly. I would not recommend this company for inspection -- which obviously makes tons of money off "forcing" you to use their overpriced repair services. There has to be more honest, reputable inspection companies. read more

My condo in Tustin is an older property built on a previous farmstead and orange grove. Needless to say, we have fruit rats. So when our attached attics (3 units) became infested, our association immediately called out Newport Exterminating. Newport Exterminating had recently demonstrated a superior pest point of entry identification and remediation on another unit in our complex. Newport was called out because our other contracted pest control company had failed to identify the point of entry into an attic resulting in repeated infestations and frustration for the home owner and HOA. So when my attic was affected, I was relieved to know Newport Exterminating would be the sole point of contact to resolve the problem. The 1st contact was Richard who baited and inspected the area for the point of entry. Richard was prompt, prepared and worked in 150 degree temperatures in our attics. And he did so cheerfully. When he returned to check the traps, he was professional and quick in the disposal of the dead. He re-baited and returned when promised. Ryan, a field supervisor, coordinated the scope of construction really well and worked with my time schedule. The construction team of Brian and Vincente were amazing. They quickly and expertly sealed up the points of external entry and interior attic pathways and yes, they did it in 150 degree temps too. I am more than pleased with the work product and the people affiliated with Newport Exterminating. They did the job right and they did it once. There are costs associated with quality work; and, there are costs associated with bad work that has to be redone over and over again. If you want the work done right, this is the company who can make that happen. read more

We have been customers of Newport Exterminating for 12 years. They were picked by our realtor when we bought the property. However, the last few years the customer service has been terrible. I just called to follow up on our annual and Laura was extremely short and rude. We called to have them come out for ants and were told they would call the night before....big surprise no telephone call. Also it would have been nice to be quoted a price. The annual inspection policy is the kiss of death with this company! We've used Newport Exterminating since we moved into our home nearly 20 years ago. The front office personnel has become rude and not willing to schedule an annual visit or treatment unless they're "in your area". Funny, thought we were the customer! They arrive late and when a spot treatment was scheduled (obvious termite activity), they turned the visit into an "inspection only", without telling us and we had to reschedule for treatment. When the person arrived to treat, it took a total of 10minutes start to finish!! No joke. Rude schedulers, hasty inspectors and always running late without a call for appointments. Consider yourself WARNED against their poor business practices--we've given them more than a chance to change. read more

I noticed some evidence of termites and called my association and they set up an inspection through Newport. Dylan B. came out and did the inspection and walked my through the process and did a great job of educating me on termites and the next steps in the process. While waiting for my association to approve the work on my termites I discovered I had bed bugs. Called Dylan B. and he put me in contact with Richard M. in the company. He set up and appotment with me and discover I had them as well and walked me through all that needed to be done. He also shared what I personally had to do to in my home get ride of these pests. The process took a few appointments with him and each time he came out he asked for a progress report and where there were still seen. He did a great job of listening to me and addressing my concerns every step of the way. As of this writing no more termites and no more Bed Bugs. Thanks guys for a job well done ! read more

I can't speak for the whole company but I can highly recommend one of their employees. I've worked with Connie Thomson on the last three houses I've built and she has provided me with exceptional customer service! She was timely with her responses to my questions, worked around my schedule, many times completing the work on Saturday's so not interfere with other trade's progress and shows up on site to verify the work is done as promised! The thing that most consumers don't realize is that there is a lot of claims made by exterminators who are less expensive but homeowners and professionals, like real estate agents etc. don't realize in order to be cheaper they will dilute their solutions or provide fraudulent products that just don't work! Connie always provides me with certificates that verify their mixtures that meet the industry standards of their products giving me the confidence that I have provided my customers with what they paid for! read more
