Ordered for lunch, cause I was craving general Tsos. I was pretty disappointed in what I got. Ordered the lunch special with general Tso and chicken fried rice with a lemon tea. The tea was awesome, I love when restaurants have their own version of sweet tea. Took me back home for a second. The general Tsos wasn't good at all. The meat seemed to be very burnt and crispy, as if they fried it to long. It was actually pretty inedible as it all stuck together and it was very tough to chew. The meat itself was a weird dark gray color that i am 100 percent not sure about haha. The fried rice was average, nothing special. I'm guessing they just had a off day? I ordered this late on a weekend night because I was busy all day and hadn't eaten anything. I got a large orange chicken and wow it was large. If you're looking for a ton of food, order from here. I never have leftovers but this stuff lasted me two full meals. However, the food did not taste that good. The chicken was soggy and flavorless. I also had a hard piece of bone or something mixed in my food. Really comes down to whether you want quantity or quality. Sometimes you just need that pile of mediocre food to make you feel good. I actually downloaded this app just to write this review. We got an order of Mongolian beef, Kung pao chicken and fried rice. The Mongolian beef - the box wasn't even half full. The Kung Pao chicken - had 3 pieces of chicken. For $47 I feel like they could have Atleast filled the box. When I called to ask if this was normal that the box was half empty the girl told me not to order from there restaurant again! I promise my life I will never order from you.. and I will never suggest that anyone order from here. Horrible customer service. Horrible food. I would pass up the physical location many times and never be interested in ordering. However, I had a craving and there are such poor Chinese options in North Center/RV, I gave them a shot. The egg roll is awesome. You can taste the five spice seasoning and it's a good size for an appetizer. That alone is worth a stop. I ordered pan fried noodles Singapore style with yellow curry since I love the rice noodle version. The noodles are very dry due to cooking method and it was overwhelmingly salty. These noodles are better suited for gravy dishes, and I have some unsalted chicken stock it will probably go into. The new style Mongolian beef came with a good variety of fresh and canned vegetables like broccoli, green peppers, and water chestnut. I've noticed a lot of restaurants put the same vegetables in every dish. New China's kung pao chicken had celery, zucchini, and of course peanuts. Both dishes were heavily sauced and seasoned well. Overall, this isn't the best Chinese take out I've had, but it definitely isn't the worst. If you have a good recommendation around North Center, please PM me! read more

*Way* overpriced for a take out, hole-in-the-wall, fast-food type Chinese place. The place doesn't even offer heating or a public bathroom. It was freezing in there! It has quite a few bad reviews on Yelp too. Yet, none of this seems to deter the owners from charging over $1.00 per each crab rangoon or almost $4 for a small, yes, a *small,* egg drop soup?!?!? They offered 4 total crab rangoon for over $4.00 (from what I can recall, it was around $4.55 for only four (4) crab rangoon). Give me a break. If I'm going to pay those prices, I'll eat at Wah Sun on Lincoln, which has very good food, a nice atmosphere with comfortable booths, a bathroom to use and they even provide heating when it's freezing cold winter in Chicago! Strange thing, I ordered salt & pepper tofu but the tofu had no pepper but maybe saw salt at some point? It as hard to tell as I tried to clean my tofu before eating it. The dish was on a bed of hot peppers and the tofu was covered in seeds...a spicy dish! Why? In my experience, salt and pepper dishes have salt & pepper seasonings -and that is it. Cheap + Pretty darned good. We got some of their wings, Spicy Thai Basil Beef, and Empress chicken. I put them in order of deliciousness. The wings were very unique. I don't know what they coat them with before they throw them in the fryer, but the coating is incredibly crunchy, so much so that I reheated them (in the microwave no less) and they were still pretty crunchy...wings generally get all grossy mushy in microwave. The sauce on the wings was very sweet/sticky and tasted very much like traditional Chinese BBQ flavors. The Spicy Thai Basil was a good dish, but I honestly didn't taste that much basil flavor...I dunno what I was expecting though ordering "Thai" from a tiny Chinese takeout place. Nonetheless, it was tasty. The Empress Chicken was the most "meh" of the dishes. The chicken was breaded pretty thickly and of course the breading got mushy because of the sauce. I will say all of the sauces were pretty sweet, so if you're not into that, maybe order something else? All in all, a good value for quick Pan-Asian takeout. read more

DO NOT ORDER! I ordered New China 2's Chow Fun Noodles and a Mango smoothie for delivery. First of all it took 2 hours for the food to be delivered even though I live in the neighborhood. It was fine going down. However, soon after eating I threw up 3 times and no matter what I did I couldn't stop. I eventually stopped after I could only throw up water. I'm feeling a little better a day later, but I can hardly keep anything down. I highly recommend NOT trying their food. read more

Though this place is new, I've already ordered from them twice. I have mixed feelings about it, but it's cheap and it's close, so I'll probably continue ordering from them. I really like that their "dinners" come with a ton of food - soup, main dish, fried rice, and an egg roll, all for less than $7. It's easily 2 meals for me. The dishes themselves are not the best I've had. So far, I've had the orange chicken and the kung pao chicken. The orange chicken was just OK, and the kung pao chicken seriously lacked some spice. The fried rice wasn't too flavorful either. I had to add soy sauce just to make it taste like something. The soups are really good though. My favorite is the simple egg drop, but my husband has had both the sweet and sour soup and the wonton soup and said both were food too. The egg rolls are cooked well, not too soggy or anything, and not too greasy. I'd go back for the large portions and great value, but only on nights when I'm feeling extra lazy and don't want to go too far for food. read more

I have been going to this China 2 location for almost 7 years and for obvious reasons. It was always fresh, like "too hot to eat when you pick it up fresh". I thought they had some of the best crab Rangoon in the city. Today I returned for my usual order and it was nothing like it used to be as of like 9 mo.ago. I get orange chicken and it used to be all white meat, and now it's processed compacted gross dark meat that doesn't look like chicken. The crab Rangoon was also not at all what it used to be. When I picked it up the entire meal fell out of the container like a brick all stuck together. I ordered using an app and they never confirmed they got the order and also never contacted me when it was done. I gave 2 stats bc the counter person was nice, it was ready quickly & the prices didn't change much and are still comparable. I'm assuming for reasons that it wasn't fresh. read more

I live in the neighborhood and I try to patronize local restaurants. The food has always been just average, nothing special, but delivery is usually quick. However, last nights delivery was AWFUL and inedible! I called and politely told them this. they stated they knew I was a regular customer but they did not offer to fix the dishes or give me a credit. They then hung up on me and when I called back they were rude and said they were too busy to do anything for us. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM! You will get mediocre food and rudeness. This is my first one star review. My order is half uneaten on the kitchen table right now. I got two orders, one orange chicken and one mongolian beef; $15, so not too bad. But it was! I should have known when I saw the chef cooking a ton of battered chicken, and putting right into the fridge once it was done. That might explain why the bread and chicken did not stick together as I put my fork through it. It was literally square pieces of chicken inside a big blob of breaded orange goop. The beef was a little bit better, but too rubber-like, and the onions tasted old. I miss Tasty House!!! Besides chicken from jewel and big boys, tasty house was a staple for lunch in high school. I was pleasantly surprised to find out how good the orange chicken and kung pow chicken were. Other than that however the rice was very bland and the egg roll wasn't that great either. Here is the thing though, this place has been bought out AGAIN! Let me tell you, THIS BENEFITS US ALL. The new new owners are not only nice, but the new way the food is done is great greasy Chinese take out. I've tried the Sesame chicken, the Orange chicken, the egg foo young, and the kung pow chicken. All of these so far have been great! Waste of $30!!! I ordered 2 entrees and a side for dinner at 630 and it didn't come till 750pm. Having to wait an hour and half made me hopeful that this better be good. I was surprised at the size of their dinner boxes, I mean they are Huge for $9, so big you have to carry with two hands bc the weight of the food was breaking the Styrofoam. Other then the size to price ratio everything else was gross!! I'm serious. ...the eggroll had a funky taste in it and the orange chicken didn't have much flavor, the chicken was a grey color in the side and just mushy.
