Went here with friends after an event nearby and it was definitely disappointing. First of all, the wait time was so so slow between getting orders taken, drinks coming to the table, food coming to the table. I ordered a basic matcha latte and the matcha came super clumped, not even whisked or anything and it tasted like it was mainly milk. Super watery. I asked them to just give me an ice latte with some sweetener instead. It came the coffee was good but was just milk and coffee. I didn't even wanna bother since the new drink took 15 mins to come out. Then the food finally came. I ordered a chorizo breakfast burrito and of course they gave me the wrong kind of meat. At that point, I was starving and just didn't even came. I ate it and it was somewhat cold, there was no flavor at all. When we were done, the girl came up and rudely said "uhhhh we've been closed since _, soooo yeahhh." Wouldn't come back. EHRMAHGAWSH... the restaurant is open again. Woot! It's our family's favorite breakfast/lunch spot. I (somewhat embarrassingly) went 3 days in a row when they opened back up. The food is so yummy. Our favorites are the fried chicken silog, chilaquiles with red sauce, burger, and the açaí bowl. Also the Spaniard, latte with a touch of sweetened condensed milk. Yum. We've loved Neptune's for years! Best breakfast burritos on the island (the secret is the sweet + regular potato combo). We've also loved the breakfast sandwich (the pickled onions are amazing) and the coffee. The owner is so nice and makes an effort to get to know people. Often when we come up to the window, he's chatting with people about their days! We've sat inside once and the space is lovely :) You can only sit inside during the weekdays for now I believe! read more

Love the Longanisa silog. Wonderful restaurant made Longanisa (which i wish was available in a breakfast sandwich), rice egg & pickled vegetables. Together they are a great brunch. Almost all that could go wrong went wrong. Based on breakfast, I have no idea how this establishment is getting any 4 or 5 star reviews. It was a disaster. They need to sort themselves out: Seating was easy but the wait just to order was too long. And there weren't many others there eating. I ordered the eggs benedict and asked for no tomatoes, onions or kale on it. But the eggs were served with tomatoes and onions. Once they corrected the order, the egg whites tasted sour, disgusting. I assume they used far too much vinegar when poaching the eggs (that's my partner's theory, after tasting it). There was only about a tablespoon of hollandaise sauce involved too. It was baffling. The potato wedges were a wrinkly, dry and burned mess. All this and the whole meal was overpriced. Positives: The waiter who returned my botched eggs was pleasant, quick. Went for breakfast burritos. The burrito was good but not amazing. For $11-12 (pretty standard price in the area) that can be forgiven. However, what was absurd was the up charge for the "meal" which was about $4-$5 extra for just a few tater tots. They also tasted stale and like they were from the frozen aisle. Also, the girl at the window isnt very friendly -- almost feels like you're burdening them by giving them business. If you go, call ahead and make sure you just get the burrito. I think they threw in some junk fees on our bill too -- not sure how two breakfast burritos made it to $30 (and then asked for tip after bad window service, lol). There are no big signs for the restaurant, just a small walk up window to place your order since they're still doing take out only. I would have hoped to sit down with some cafe vibes, but Crab Cove is just a short walk down the street and was a beautiful setting to match my brunch. The matcha latte wasn't overly sweet which I liked. Maybe a little too much frothy foam for my liking but it disappeared quick because it was so good. The caprese panini took maybe 10 for them to make and they brought it out to me once done. Great crunch on the outside while the inside was soft with the balsamic vinegar. Mozzarella and tomato were cut the Percy thickness so eat bite was a great balance. Came with a little side salad and dressing, but I actually ended up putting the spring mix on to the sandwich itself! Man, I wish I got to come here when it was open for dine in because the space looks great buuuut it looks like they're planning to reopen for dine in this year!! Can't wait. As for the takeout experience, everything was seamless. I wanted a quick breakfast on an early Saturday morning. I called ahead and placed my order over the phone. It was ready in the next 20 minutes, enough time for me to drive over and pick it up. When we arrived there were just a few people waiting outside but no one in line. We told them we were here to pick up our order. Everything was already prepared. We just waited for the mocha we ordered to be made fresh. Quick service, some nice chit chat while we waited, and then we were good to go. As for the food, we ordered the chorizo burrito and the Audrey benedict. Chorizo burrito also came with tots for $15.75. It was filled with a lot of different potatoes too. It was good, but maybe not $15.75 good. Needed a sauce to add some extra flavor. The Audrey Benedict was ok as well. Next time I'll def have to go for something on their favorites menu. I remember looking at the silogs before I ordered and changed my mind last minute. It'It's a cute place, and the parking is adequate. The food is average, and the steak fries I ordered were under-seasoned. However, my son ordered waffles and said they were delicious, and the batter was nice and fluffy. The service seemed a bit slow, probably because only one server was trying to manage everything. Maybe this is more of a place to order your food and eat at home. My son had to get up a few times to ask for more syrup or anything else we needed. I'm interested in how they are redoing the patio - it seems like a nice enclosed space with flowers, so that seems to be nice.. read more

We have been eating at Neptune from startup! We have watched its menu, and its space grow! The food is always special and delicious. My family loves the Filipino offerings. I just had what I think is the BEST hamburger in Alameda. A fantastic bun! Truly delish Wagyu patty! Plenty of tomato and lettuce. And a wonderful dressing which I still have not figyred out! My very picky friends from "Berkeley" loved the chicken and waffles. My grand kids cant wait to get their lumpia fix! For me, who went to Encinal HS, who lived down on Central and ate here when it was Fosters Freeze and they had the "Toddle Hut" where you could get a chili dog or dipped dog, (i spent most of my oakland tribune profit here), this evilution onto Neptune is truly wondorous. I love the movie postures (remember "Creature from the Black Lagoon"?). I guess you could say that I am "old Alamedan" from the west end. Neptune captures that feeling, that "culture", that history! Ordered door dash today and it took a long time to get here. We ordered a nutella waffle, avocado toast, and loco moco. Avocado toast 3/10- bread not toasted, not enough avocado for the price, and they mix some seaweed or something gross in it. it was inedible, and since i'm began it was the only thing i could have. loco moco 6/10- it was just alright, nothing wowed us when we opened the box. mediocre. nutella waffle- 5/10- nutella was clumpy, waffle was super soft. basic and not really worth the price either. read more

I've been going to Neptune's periodically since I moved to the East Bay. Their breakfast does not disappoint. They have some pretty unique types of breakfast items on the menu, such as the Filipino Silogs and and Loco Moco. Food is always fresh and mostly organic. I wish the place had dine in options but I can understand their need to protect their employees and customers. It's a small price to pay to keep the place open when I need them to be. I especially like that most of the dishes come with a side salad as well. Can't go wrong at Neptune's. read more

While working from home during the pandemic I decided I wanted to see which independent coffee shop had the best latte. Luckily for me, the closest to my house, Neptunes, was my clear favorite. The Snowbird beans they use produce a wonderfully balanced shot, never bitter. They only have one size but the price is on point. I cannot review any of their food, but it was packed before Covid. They had hoped to re-open the dining room last year but are having a difficult time finding staff. I miss Foster Freeze, but I'm glad my favorite coffee drink spot is on my route to walk the dogs. read more

I originally thought that this place was just a coffee shop. Since I moved to alameda during the pandemic, I only know of this place as a take out/coffee shop. I didn't know they had bomb food a well! Service: Always great service here. The staff is polite, friendly, and efficient. Can't ask for anything else! Food: Not only is their coffee amazing and their barista are really good at adjusting sweetness levels to your liking. But their food is incredible. My favorite is the breakfast burrito with the tater tots. The tots are so crispy, but don't feel too greasy. The burrito has the perfect ratio of egg, potatoes, meat, and sauce. It's like the party in my mouth. I wish they had a little spicier sauce, but otherwise it's an absolute must try! Overall: I would definitely recommend this place. read more

This area is really cute and nice, but the food can definitely be a lot better. Majority of our food was on the burnt side, which caused us to waste a lot of the food. Potatoes, Brussel sprout and fried chicken was on the charcoal taste side, which is very unpleasant. The fried chicken has no taste at all! The presentation of the food was gorgeous and well placed; the food looked a lot better than it tasted. Our total came out to be around $71 without tip yet... There were many good options on the menu so I was a little undecided at first. I ordered the chicken fat loco moco. Unfortunately it lacked flavor so I added soy sauce on the side. Friend ordered the chilaquiles- those were good and came with half an avocado. My boring friend ordered the açaí bowl. She said she enjoyed it. I had no urge to try that one. The downside: my iced chai latte was missing the chai, I felt like I was drinking watered down milk. My friend also did not like her matcha latte. I think they need to pay more attention to the coffee as $5 for a chai latte (not dirty) should taste properly. I will come back as this place was fun and I'd like to try more on the menu. Food was decent-good, small menu, kinda pricey, but the food took super long just for the two dishes despite there being only 2 other tables at the time and like 3 people working the kitchen. Waitress was nice when we did have interaction, but not super attentive. We didn't even see her to flag her down for more water. They have a parking lot and you can also park in the Neptune Plaza and walk around. I probably would not come back, but I don't regret trying it out. read more

We came here to celebrate my roomates 1 year anniversary living in the Bay. I have been here before and sat on the patio but this time we sat inside. Even though the place was busy and there was a wait, we were seated quickly. We were a table of 5 and somehow managed to order all 3 types of benedicts: biscuit, Aubrey, and steak and all were great! My roomie raved about the blood orange mimosas too. Good food and good drinks, it doesn't get better than that! We will definitely be back to enjoy brunch again. read more

So glad they are open again. I had a lovely lunch with a dear friend this afternoon. The nautical themed restaurant has a comfortable laid back atmosphere that is perfect for catching up. The service is kind and professional and more importantly the food is spot on. Their portions are huge and I love the Filipino twist they put on their brunch items. I was curious as to why such a place only had 3.5 stars. Appears that most of the 1-2 star reviews are due to the fact that they are open for takeout only. Ambiance is still a major factor don't get me wrong. But a little aggressive to take off so many stars for being takeout only. Sounds like some people just want to be served and feel important enough to have someone else attending to their needs. I don't understand why everyone is saying the owner/owners have not notified that they are only doing take out. It's on the website and it's on their instagram account. I am rating this establishment 4 stars with an emphasis on the quality of the food and coffee (as how most Yelp reviews should be). The extra 1 star is for the resiliency of this local establishment to put up with pretentious Yelp reviewers. read more
