Natale's is a great bakery right off Broad street, just a couple of minutes from downtown Summit. With ample parking on the street or around the block, the only thing stopping you from a sugar-filled paradise is the lines that can crop up during busy periods. The staff inside is great, and with signs stressing that tipping is not permitted, you don't need to feel the pressure of doing extra mental math while stuffing pastries into your cheeks. Inside, there are several cases with pastries, cookies, and cakes. They've also got a good selection of donuts and breads, though I didn't try any of those. The pastries, cookies, and cake were all fantastic. Pastry wise, I got a raspberry horn and elephant ear, both of which had a great sugary crust but with a fluffy, delicate center. The raspberry in the horn was fruity but not oversweetened. On the cookie front, I had chocolate chip, m&m, sugar cookie, linzer tart, and rainbow sprinkle, . My favorite of these was the linzer tart, though it wasn't my favorite linzer tart ever. I prefer a bit less filling in mine, with a crisper shortbread. These have a healthy amount of filling, and the shortbread cookie was a bit on the softer side, though still delicious! The other cookies were pretty standard fare, done well and with no complaints, but by design aren't exactly the reason you'd visit Natale's. A note on the chocolate chip and m&m that they're large and thin, with about a 5 inch diameter - not the thick/raw dough types that have become popular. Last we have the cake, which was for a birthday celebration. We got a yellow cake with fudge, which was pre-made in the case but customized quickly in the back. They did a great job, and it was filled with flavor! The layers were perfect as well. I'm definitely coming back here, and if I have I a say in it, that'll be sooner than later!

Haven't been here in awhile. Was in the area and stopped in. The glazed cruller donuts are delicious and reasonably priced, $1.50. However, the Boston cream have been disappointing time and time again, very little filling. I got the pumpkin bars $2.50 each - good but expensive. They were very small and the two pieces were different sizes, see photo.

Friends rave about this bakery, and in particular the cupcakes. I came at noon on a Sunday and picked up six cupcakes. I didn't find them to be particularly special so I'll have to return and try them again. In the past, I have ordered the Philly fluff cake and everyone loves it

Their Philly Fluff Cake is sooo good! Imagine cheesecake and Angel food cake had a baby that tastes like Japanese cheesecake's American cousin. The texture was the Goldilocks of airy, fluffy and dense. Not too sweet either. All the characters make this cake very dangerous - cuz I couldn't stop eating it! lol

One of my favorite bakeries in NJ. The one item that they are most well known for is the Philly Fluff, and it is completely worth the hype! It is soft, moist and fluffy, like a little piece of heaven on your plate. Pro tip: Philly fluffs freeze extremely well, just slice them, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and put them in a freezer ziplock bag. When you are want to eat them, just let them thaw overnight on the fridge or on the counter for a few hours. They are perfect for when you have unexpected guests or when you are just in the mood for cake on a Wednesday night (not that I am speaking from experience or anything)! Aside from the Philly fluff, their other cakes and pastries are also very delicious, moreover, they are very well priced. My personal favorites are the strawberry shortcake and the cannolis. If you are either in the area, stop by, you won't regret it!

Not sure about the some of the ratings here. I purchased 2 cakes to bring to an event and they had no taste except for sugar. Even the whipped cream tasted like sugar frosting. Sorry, no dice...this place doesn't compare to places like the old Allwood Bakery in Clifton or the even older Kielbs in Belleville. I've had better box mixes. The cakes look good, but unfortunately aren't. read more

Very weird customer service. I called them to speak about getting a custom cake made. The lady at the other end started off polite enough and said she was going to put me on hold before helping me out. After a few minutes of being on hold, the call was disconnected. Thinking that it was probably an error I called back again stating that I was put on hold and needed to speak about a custom cake. The same lady picked up again and rudely disconnected me mid-sentence without saying a single word. I understand that she was probably not interested in helping me or getting my business. I am totally fine with that, just wish she had been more polite in turning me away. Not sure if she is the owner or an employee, but I am happy to take my business elsewhere. read more

This is a great local bakery in Summit, New Jersey. Working in Summit my coworkers have raved about this establishment and have never actually got in until the other day. Although, I have been eating food from this bakery for years. Natale's has an assortment of cookies, cakes, quiches, fresh breads which all look delicious. I ordered a chocolate cake from here for a coworker's birthday. The Decour of the cake was splendid and the taste was exceptional. They make great crumb cake minis and their breads are delightful. If you have a big order be sure to call in advance as they were very busy. read more

Speechless. No words to describe the way this Philly Fluff changed my life. I am a cake connoisseur, but my my, i have never experienced something quite like this. At first glance, I didn't expect to think highly of it, due to the fact that there is no icing. Looks like it would be dry and flavorless. Boy was i WRONG. The most moist and savory cake I have ever eaten. One taste and I was hooked. I am highly considering serving this at my wedding, I don't think anyone can try a bite and not fall in love. read more

Ordered a fresh Strawberry Shortcake as requested by my daughter for her birthday. I wanted it to be the best, not a stale cake with preserves. Natales did not let me down. Beautiful cake, but beyond that...scrumptious!!! Daughter said "best tasting SS " she's ever had. And, this from someone who's traveled the world. From ordering online, through being serviced efficiently and with a smile, the entire process was seamless and beyond anything a consumer could ask for. We will definitely be regulars from now on. Discovered this place 16 years ago. Focus on Italian pastries, excellent cakes, pies and cookies. Nothing is overly sweet. Go to is the philly fluff cake which comes in plain, apple, marble, and blueberry. The fluff is a cream cheese round pound cake. Love the Sfogliatelle, cannoli and other mini pastries. Excellent strawberry shortcake. Don't miss pumpkin cupcakes in the Fall, seasonal offerings for every holiday. Fresh breads sliced. Never had a bad experience. read more

I've obviously had their Philly Fluff which is unbelievable by itself and even better with milk or coffee! Recently had their Quiche. Between the two of us we finished the entire pie, it was that good!!! I think they make their Quiche only on Thursdays so we were lucky go there on a Thursday. A local favorite where a line is guaranteed on holidays. Their price is unbelievably reasonable and the employees here are always helpful and pleasant and that is refreshing. They have different kinds of quiche this afternoon. I tried the "three way" - cheese, tomatoes and spinach. It's very nice. My kids loved it, too. I think I'm going to learn how to make one. Their coconut cream pie looks inviting that I have just to get one. It went well with coffee. I'm dying to try their egg custard pie. They don't always have it. But the last time I bought one, I sent it for a party potluck that I didn't attend. read more

Walk into any party or social gathering with a dessert or variety of bread and you'll thoroughly impress the host and other invitees. The Philly Fluff is super famous. I've gotten countless people hooked on its incredible taste, texture and overall delectable aura. I bring it to almost all family parties and gatherings with friends and they all rave. It's become known in some social circles as "the Laura Cake." A new family favorite from Natale's is the Devil Dog Cake. Impeccable. Super moist chocolate cake shaped somewhat like a doughnut, sliced in half and filled with an insanely delicious whipped cream filling. It's topped with more of the filling and drizzled with chocolate and sprinkles. Wowzers. Speaking of icing, the icing on any given dessert - especially the cupcakes - is perfect. Literally perfect. I don't know what else to say other than it's perfect. The breads are great, as are the cookies. The Lindzer tarts are amazing. Fantastic variety and service. Natale's is my go-to place for all things sweet and good. read more

I was pretty impressed with Natales, a lot of people had raved about it and the staff was extremely helpful when i clammered in and said I need to bring food to my coworkers, and i have no idea what to get and I want to spend $X. Be warned, this is not your magnolia/crumbs bakery- so do not expect cupcakes. this is a traditional bakery with biscotti, brownies, italian cookies, cakes, etc. Everything tasted great and seemed fairly fresh, even the pieces we ate the next day. I was a bit disappointed at the size of the brownies for their price at $1.50. Many things are weighed by the pound there and feel free to ask them to remove anything if you think it's too expensive. both the canoli and eclair were about 3" long and each cost $1.25. Great find! I ordered a cake on a Saturday (7-20)afternoon for my 2yo birthday party. Picked up the cake on Sunday (7-21) and it was a huge disappointment! This has been a Summit go-to for years. Today I visited. They are no longer making eclairs and offer cream puffs only in the bite size version. I was surprised at checkout to learn that these were $1.75 a piece. Young fellow said everything has gone up. Frankly, Natale's products are more 'regular' than high end or gourmet. Perhaps they are pricing themselves out of the marketplace. read more

Zero stars if I could! I traveled 3 hours from CT to buy 4 cakes that we had put aside for us. Due to an accident and closure of highway it set us back and wouldn't arrive until 10 minutes past closing time. I called to explain the situation and the manager told me "there's no discussion we close at 5:30" she proceeded to say "I don't care" TWICE after explaining we traveled 3 hours to get these cakes for Christmas Eve. We arrived and she had closed the bakery. We wasted 7.5 hours driving, gas money and toll money to not even get our cakes and be told by an extremely rude and inconsiderate manager that she did not care. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! read more

This is THE best Italian Bakery by far, hands down. All of the ingredients are pure - none of that 'fake' buttercream frosting. The cakes are phenomenal, pastries are beautiful and delicious. Even the donuts are perfect and just as good as the 'artisan' donuts you get in NYC for $6 a pop!! In addition, the staff is always friendly and inviting. Highly recommend visiting this local bakery. read more

Carrot, chocolate mousse and the famous Philly Fluff- they nailed them all. I have not been impressed with their Italian pastries, however. Cookies are okay, but I have enjoyed better. Their bread is pretty marvelous. Got their apple cake and it was a disaster- soggy all the way through. But the other cakes are consistently amazing. No one has figured out how to make edible velvet like Natale's. read more

Someone on Nextdoor.com asked for recommendations for a great local bakery for donuts and out of the 21 responses, majority named Natale's. Out of curiosity the following day I went and bought donuts. Oh boy, it was heavenly. I went back a few days later, I bought more donuts, French bread and a Philly Fluff which is out of this world!!! This is hands down a FANTASTIC bakery!!!! read more

Oh, and if you live in Summit, you can ignore this part because you are rich, my friend. And if you're a kid and you live in Summit? You are lucky because your parents are rich, my friend. Anyways So, Bake is incredibly expensive. Wow. One time true story, I bought I'm going to say a pound of cookies? (This was a while ago, don't quote me on the weight.) And the girl says that it will be, and she mumbles the price. And I think, did she say $16? That seems too low. Oh no, she said $60! For cookies. So give it a shot. I bet if you bit into your cookie while you were there, and it was stale, they would give you a new cookie. I usually take them home for dessert. Especially if you said it loud, like Hey! if you buy a cookie and it's stale. You get a new cookie? I bet they would hate that.

The person who brought these to the party also said they'd kept these in the fridge for quite a few hours before the part, so I was surprised as how moist they'd stayed in spite of the chill. I don't live in the area, but if I were in the mood for some dessert and passing through, Crowley's is probably the only place I would even consider for cupcakes.

I don't give 5 stars to a bakery lightly. My mother was a gourmet caterer and was A #1 in my book when it comes to making the most amazing baked goods. Summit Bakery is one of the most amazing I have found. I love that their desserts are sooo much better then most average "white" bakeries (white sugar, whipped cream frostings and fillings, lard, MSG, etc.) Their goods taste better because the grade of ingredients are worlds better then what most bakeries use. And you will not have the problem of having your eyes see something that looks pretty, but then the taste does not match up to the visual. Everything I've had here tastes as good as it looks. They have the most delicious light and crispy donuts that melt in your mouth. They don't leave a slick of oil on your tongue or a too butter aftertaste. They are perfection! If you love cupcakes, you cannot go wrong with their Devil's Food Cupcake...it is one of the most divine cupcake tastes I've experienced. Super creamy! Everything else I've ever gotten there, from pastries to cake has been just perfect. The flavors are not too overpowering, not too underpowered either. Their flavors are heavenly blissful and taste like high class european bakeries. I have to be careful not to get too addicted whenever I go home!! You cannot go wrong. Highly recommended. read more

Wedding cake: I'm a little bias since I'm the owners daughter but with that in mind I'm also a pretty picky cake eater. We kept our options open and tried the cake vendor that our venue specifically uses and were extremely disappointed in the taste. I guess you don't have to work hard to make a good product if you're guaranteed the business. You do not have to use the cake baker that comes with your venue, and usually your venue will credit you that money towards something else. I highly recommend using Natale's Bakery. They stand by their products and make sure you're getting the highest quality and freshest ingredients. They may not use fondant but they will make you a delicious and beautiful cake. Compared to the pricing of other cake bakers I've seen, Natale's is VERY reasonably priced for wedding cakes. My guests RAVED about our cake. Many of my friends have told me that they wound up eating other peoples pieces of cake if they were still on the table towards the end of the night! I highly suggest you at least go in and talk to someone about getting your cake here before you make your final decision. read more

I would give the place five stars but I don't want them to relax. Many of their items are easily five stars. The pictures always show the exotic and fancy stuff they make but for me the breakfast stuff, crumb cake, raisin turnovers, french cruellers, sugar cinnamon creullers etc. are the stars of the morning. Because this is a family run and owned bakery for several generations, a rare occurance today, it has maintained recipes that existed in the past and can be found in the quality and taste of their products. My biggest reason for going there. I love chocolate eclairs but unfortunately they only make the variety that has the yellow cream in it. I love them with whipped cream, the white stuff, simple taste. Anyway, thats my one wish. read more

After reading all the great reviews, I had to give this bakery a try. I wasn't disappointed. I went for the Philly Fluff and Devil Dog Cake. Both were outstanding! The Philly Fluff had an extremely buttery flavor, and was loaded with blueberries. The Devil Dog Cake was very moist, and the whipped cream was very high quality. The chocolate on top has intense chocolate flavor. Scrumptious cake. I was so impressed. I will certainly be going back soon to try some other items. read more

I tried the Philly Fluff and Devil Dog cakes that some people rave about. I honestly found them to be pretty average. The Devil Dog cake was a little too sweet, and the Philly Fluff was a little too dry. They tasted ok and were decent overall, but nothing to be excited about. I will come again to try some other items. read more
