This was a lot more than a bakery to my surprise. There were a bunch of tables to sit at along with an extensive breakfast and lunch menu along with lots of sweets. The staff was friendly and patient when we decided on what to order. Five items were tried, and each will be described below. Black & White Cookie ($4.50) - This was a traditional sweet that was done right. There was a nice balance of the chocolate and vanilla flavoring while the cookie was not too soft or hard. Chocolate & Vanilla Pretzel ($5.50) - This was very interesting. It was not overly sweet and was large. It was just a different type of pretzel. It was a tad dry, but not bad. Pumpkin Donut ($3) - This had a nice texture, but the actual donut did not have enough sugar I thought. The pumpkin frosting was just right though. Cinabun ($5) - This was very solid. It looked like it was going to be filling, but it was lighter than imagined. The cream cheese frosting was too much for me, but it had a nice texture. Swiss Chalet Wrap ($13.99) - This came with fried eggplant, arugula, tomato bruschetta, and a balsamic dressing. This was my favorite item tried, no doubt. I ordered a sheet cake from Swiss Chalet and was happy with how it came out! I initially was looking into doing a custom round cake, but the process isn't exactly the smoothest. They aren't too receptive to getting pictures / talking out different ideas. In the end, the easiest option for something custom was to email a picture to be copied on to a sheet cake. The cake itself was delicious - the chocolate buttercream filling was rich and decadent. The actual cake could've been a bit more moist, but it was still really tasty. Prices are definitely high, but as expected since it's a locally owned bakery. A 1/2 sheet cake with some custom additions is around $150. Custom round cakes with fondant, tiering and more detail will run you $300+. The actual bakery is huge. I'd never been inside, but didn't realize there's also a ton of cafe seating, and a huge case filled with treats. I'd definitely consider again if I'm looking for a special occasion cake. read more

Omg I was just in the bakery. I got a regular size cake 7 in out of the case A shadow cake they had the nerve to charge me $47. Is that outrageous I felt like going back and returning it. I've gone past this place for years and had never gone in. The interior was larger than I expected and seemed very clean and comfy and cozy. I parked on street parking since the parking lot was full even on a weekday monday: I got the breakfast sandwich on a bagel and it was solid. Their cream puff was also yummy. This is my go-to bakery while in Morristown. While it's listed as American, the European pastries do not disappoint. The flavor of butter and salt comes though on the plain croissant, which is also a bit chewy. We ended up with a few kouign amann on the counter of our office and it was a pleasant surprise. The cake was sweet and buttery, just as they should. I originally thought they came from Sook, but later found the top to the container. The egg custard tarts remind me of the ones I had in Lisbon, but not quite as good. The American styled donuts have decent flavor from the oil and yeast. The chocolate frosted ones are a bit too sweet; I usually try to get a sugared one for myself. Either way, a dozen donuts disappear at work within a few minutes. read more

Went to check out their GF options and they had 4 cupcake options, prepackaged cookies, a cake and muffins. Definitely some risk of cross contamination since everything is next to everything else (and on shelves below gluten that could fall) so just something to be aware of if you're celiac. My baby shower cake was from here and it was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting and it was the best carrot cake I've ever had! For my father in law's birthday, I had purchased a chocolate cake with peanut butter mouse and it was so decadent! Most recently, I had gotten a cake for my son's baptism. Fetch your own food when the beeper goes off, ours came out super quickly. All sandwiches are about $12 and up, add fries and a soda for $6. My vegetable Panini was stuffed with eggplant and mozzarella, delicious but difficult to eat. My dining companion's Texas burger was loaded with cheese, sliced ham and bbq sauce, a huge meal, also a bit tricky to bite into. Prices are way too high for the quality. I ordered a slice of cake and a lobster tail. The only good (using term loosely) thing about it was the cream inside the tail. Everything else tasted like the refrigerator. Stale and not woth the money or the calories. I don't know a lot about commercial bakery practices, but you could also tell the lobster tails were thawing out after being previously frozen. So disappointed. Everything went right in the trash. This little gem in Morristown is worth every penny. Croissants: incredible - so soft and light on the inside but with a nice texture on the outside. You should probably eat them within 2 days but I doubt they'll last that long. The chocolate croissant was also spectacular - not too sweet. Cake: Tiramisu cake presentation and taste were amazing. Again, not too sweet for a dessert and the crunchy lady fingers in the outside are a nice touch to combat the soft gooey inside soaked lady fingers. It took 10 minutes to get two coffees. I paid over $7.50 for them. I asked if I could pay for the coffees and the woman said give me a minute I just took a $200 cake order that's more expensive. Her name was Christina. She said call the owner if I have a complaint. She's been there for 20 years. I would never and will never go back to that place. Stopped in to purchase cupcakes for my daughter's birthday today. As soon as I walked into the place it reeked of the cleaning solution called Fabuloso. I know exactly how this cleaner smells because I've worked in restaurants where they use this and it is super overpowering. That is all fine and good because at least that means they're cleaning but when I got home, we had some cupcakes and lo and behold the cupcakes tasted like Fabuloso. I'm not sure if it got into the batter onto the counter or into the buttercream. Good Afternoon I went to Swiss Chalet a few days ago and the service was horrible. I'm not sure if the lady was a manager or lead worker but her name was Zee. She was very nasty to my friend and I . I asked her questions about the pastries that were on display and she ignored my questions and I ended up leaving she was NO HELP. I usally go when my kids are on their lunch to bring them sweets to the school and the teachers. Zee was very very nasty and doesn't need to work at a bakery serving the public. I'm very upset. I met a man name Jimmy a few months ago and he was very nice to my son and I. It's very clean and presentable.
