This is such a cute space! There were so many inviting-looking treats, but I went for their New Year's special, a vanilla cookie confetti "duffin" (donut muffin). It was delicious and so cute! It tasted a bit like a sweeter muffin, and was pretty crumbly but packed full of sprinkles. The cookie on the top was just as good. Adorable shop, very small though. There was only one other customer, an older gentleman, and it was hard to look at things and maneuver around one another. Add in a worker bringing in more pies....and it got crowded fast! At first glance you think there can't be a lot in here to look at and buy. But there's a lot of variety on display -- cupcakes (chocolate coconut, salted caramel, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, cookies (sugar, chocolate, giant chocolate chip, pre-packaged cookies), brownie cake, lemon bar, cream pies, large and small chocolate whoopie pies, and Duffins! I do think there full sized pies sell out fast, but again, it was the Saturday right before Easter. And by 2:30 PM, there were only a few cupcakes left. Not sure if they have more in the back, but it doesn't hurt to ask. With such a small storefront, it might not be possible to put everything out in the open. Very friendly and helpful as I asked questions and ordered a lot of items. Lemon bar --soft, fresh, but too sweet. This is a personal preference, as my husband and I love more tart than sugar. But this was still a good dessert. Cupcakes are a bit dense, they are not light or airy. It seemed to have more of a muffin, crumbly type of feel to them. However, still fresh and moist. With the smooth creamy frosting, it was a very balanced bite. The chocolate cupcake with the chocolate frosting was very rich with flavor. Sugar cookies - Perfect little bite. Great texture, not too hard, not too soft, not too thick. In my pics below, I got the Easter bunny package, with 1 chocolate bunny, and 3 carrot shaped cookies. The chocolate one had a very chocolately and rich flavor. Love that! Whoopie pie -- my favorite! Soft cake like texture of the cookie, fresh creamy filling. Way better than any of the packaged things I used to eat as a kid. The cream filling tasted simple, nothing artificial there. Duffins: Very moist. I expected a softer inside, like a yeast donut. I'm not sure why I imagined that! Chocolate -- like a chocolate cake donut! Thick icing all around was great. Could really taste the chocolate, and I love taking a bite and feeling the icing crackle and break. Lemon-- At first you don't taste any lemon, but then it grows the longer you chew. Interesting and my husband's favorite. Raspberry -- love the sugar coating. So subtle! Just enough to add some sweetness, without being heavy. Not too much raspberry, which I prefer since the sweetness of the jam can be overwhelming. Just a little taste. So glad I tried it! Next time I'm in the area, a bunch of those Whoopie pies will be calling my name. read more

I love everything about this neighborhood bakery in my town. GREAT biscotti and choc chip cookies.....I love their seasonal treats made with local blueberries or apples......they sell special savory things at the Summit Farmers Market on Sundays....the owners are nice guys and I like the fact that I am shopping local. This is a late post but I felt I HAD to write this review. I have been going to Brownie Points since it opened, I use to always order all my holiday pies and baked goods from them. As the big Easter dinner nears, I am reminded of my last order. At Christmas this past year, I was sold a pecan pie that was so over done it was not edible. When I called to speak to them, they advised me that "that's how the pie turned out". They told me that I could bring the pie back for a refund but they were sold out of all pies, they would be closing in the next 1/2 hour and they would be closed the next day. I guess it was my naivety to pick up the pie without checking the sealed box from the bakery I've been a customer of for years and years. read more

Whenever I go into Brownie Points to buy some treats to bring home it's more likely than not that they won't make it home. The brownies are deliciously fudgy, the raspberry thumbprints and sugar cookies are so buttery and wonderful, and the last time I brought duffins to a girls' night the hostess said she couldn't wait to polish off the remaining soldiers for breakfast...I could go on. It takes me forever to decide what I want because everything is fantastic. And what can I tell you about my favorite fellas? They are as delightful as their baked goods! read more

The reviews were not great for this place but I'm so glad I checked it out anyway when I was in the area. They were closing and packing up but allowed me to come in and buy something. They only had a few cupcakes left by that time. I wish they had a dozen. I chose the creme Brûlée cupcake, life changing. No other dessert will ever compare, I'm as serious as a heart attack. We thought, "Oh, what a darling little place!!" I make whoopie pies regularly and theirs are very unlike the Mennonite/Amish ones, so don't expect those. They do have a few items that are tasty, but I don't really think their goods are that good. Because the place is cute and the people are nice there, I do like them though. This place is really adorable. Its located right across from the starbucks and the train station, so its convenient. Its a tiny little storefront with an old fashioned vibe that screams-- yummy baked goods inside, come on in. Inside there isnt much there, just a counter and the goods. Their marketing/packaging/boxes/bags really floored me. If you're bringing a gift to someones home when you're invited for dinner, you'll wow everyone walking in with this beautiful presentation. It looks EXPENSIVE!! They have a large menu but most of what i saw was cupcakes and cookies, so I bought a box of their pretty cupcakes, which are reasonably priced at $2 each. There weren't a lot of choices, just red velvet, vanilla or chocolate cake with vanilla or chocolate icing, but they all looked good so I grabbed a few of each. And really, what more do you need? Now for the important part-- the taste. I thought the vanilla cupcakes were great, and the vanilla icing was the right amount of sweetness with a really nice texture that had no artificial taste at all. The chocolate cake and chocolate icing weren't really my speed-- the icing was really dark and rich, and i thought the chocolate cake was on the dry and bland side, but others who tried the chocolate really liked it so its just a matter of taste. You cant please everyone, right? My only real complaint was the red velvet which i thought was awful. It fell apart, and just tasted kind of like nothing. But i definitely recommend checking them out. A welcome addition to Summit. P.S. acccording to their brochure, everything is from scratch, using farm fresh ingredients, and they have pies, muffins, scones, breads, homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cakes too. items change daily. love the concept-- a real bakery is hard to find these days. read more

I was expecting to see a lot of brownies, but the name is pretty misleading. They only had 2 kinds of brownies when I went - a plain one and a "filled" brownie, which was basically just a brownie sandwich. I tried the regular brownie, and if you like very intensely dark chocolate tasting brownies, you'll appreciate this one! The countergirl did warn me that it was very dark chocolatey, but when asked she did not know what kind of chocolate is used. It has a good chewy texture, in between cakey and fudgey, but I wasn't a huge fan of the flavor. To me the dark chocolate was a little overwhelming, maybe like it lacked enough butter? It does not have that crackly shiny top that my favorite brownies have. Brownie Points seems to focus more on cupcakes - it has a cool tall counter case displaying their different varieties, which change up weekly? I think. They had run out of the creme brûlée and cafe au lait flavors unfortunately, so I went with my usual reviewing standard - red velvet. There was so much potential for this cupcake!! Good frosting to cake ratio, and a nice medium size (bigger than Sweet Lucy's, slightly smaller than Magnolia). The cream cheese frosting was delicious and had a nice fresh texture, melting in my mouth. But where the cupcake failed was the "muffintop" of the cupcake - the cupcaketop? It was SO dry and hard, as though the cupcake had formed a crust, which was such a travesty because the rest of the cake underneath was VERY light and fluffy! In this regard, the best red velvet of the day (I tried Sweet Lucy's and Hey Cupcake today too). Biting into this red velvet cupcake was like biting into delicious air...but then you hit the hard crunch from the crusty top, which ruins the overall taste. Maybe it was an unluckily burnt one - I'd be willing to try another one to see if it was a fluke. The store is very small - no tables or chairs to enjoy your sweets inside. Decor was cute though and the display was very cute as well! read more

I love Brownie Points. It's an adorable little bakery in Summit right by the train station. They even have their own special item, a "duffin," which is like a muffin but... Hm, actually I'm not sure where the donut properties of the duffin come in. Maybe in the exterior. Anyway it's kind of like a little cake, sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar or made in other variations. They are amazing. I've also had great cupcakes there and today spotted some chocolate pudding that I'll have to try some time. I haven't biked much recently, but sometimes I ride by there and get a treat, or even just look at their storefront. There's always something cute in their windows. read more

I was really excited to try the blueberry pie and at $24 I hoped it would be good. The presentation was very nice - packaging, pie itself - but I was very disappointed. The filling looked like it came out of a can. I'm sure it didn't but it had that overly jellied look of canned pie filling. Whatever the case, it had no flavor whatsoever. Not sweet, not tart, just nothing. Same with the crust. It was nice too look at but again, no flavor. For that kind of money I'm expecting a top notch dessert. "Martha Stewart meets Girl Scouts." That is how I would personally describe the style and baking approach at Brownie Points. We came here with their duffins in mind -- quite popular at the farmer's market -- leaving with just a pair of those. And for these particular pastries, they receive the honorable badge for freshness from me. But wait -- What, exactly, is a "duffin," you ask? Taste-wise, it is like a yellow cake, slighter firmer for handling, one of which has been rolled evenly throughout with cinnamon-sugar, the other -- crumbly coffee crumb -- drizzled with a white icing. In terms of form, they're akin to muffin popovers, perhaps using a clever hybrid name like "duffin" to attract more customers. Donut + muffin = Duffin! That does sound like a curiously sapid equation, no? Charming & whimsical these said duffins appeared, perched handsomely upon colorful hand-painted cake stands. I could not resist, nor did I bother fighting to do so. If I were judging these entirely by their name, however, I would say that the duffins are much too spongy in texture to be considered a donut in the slightest regard, so I don't know where that comes in. Note: They did not hold back on the butter. Their paltry selection when I came in on an early Saturday afternoon, was vastly disappointing, along with a décor so nauseatingly cute, I was willing to overlook the fact that it looked like something from the set-up of a Spring baby shower. Quite understandably, there was not a single straight man to be seen, but I may pop up here again to see if they may have a greater selection on a weekday. read more

So really not a good value. A 9" cake is $45 bucks and honestly I wouldn't even pick it up when you have Natale's right down the street. I bought four items to take into work to share with a colleague on a Friday: an apple cider 'duffin'; a red velvet cupcake; a creme brulee cupcake and a raspberry jam duffin. With the exception of the red velvet cc which was okay, the other three things were BLOODY AMAZING! We laid them out on a platter, cut them each into bite pieces attacked them with forks so we could have a taste of everything. I discovered the place when newer in town trying to find the elusive NJ cupcake to die for shop and while there another customer was getting an order of "Duffins" to go and was talking about how she was taking them back to CA and I thought to myself THAT is something I DO for a favorite food. I had to know what a Duffin was - by description I don't know that I would have tried it but figured cross country carrying of baked goods must mean something tasty. I got one and was hooked! Just try it - don't try to get anyone to explain it to you, you will love it! Here is what is solid about Brownie Points - their Raspberry Duffins and Raspberry Lemonade cupcakes. Sadly they almost never have latter item on the menu and I seem to continuously miss when it is flavor of the week. If you haven't tried a Duffin it is a must. I didn't like the chocolate or coffee cake one, the cinnamon one was good, the lemon one was disappointing, it barely had the lemon curd filling - almost as if by accident the curd was spilled on it. I have tried several of the cupcakes - the can be hit or miss on quality of the cake part. At times I think they get chintzy with the fillings, I had a raspberry duffin that I am not sure could have been classified as such because blink and you miss it tiny red dot on top. I would rather have a nondescript package to take my baked goods home than have less than stellar filling on the duffins. Go out of your way for Duffins and if in the area it works to satisfy your cupcake craving. read more

Cute little place! My co-worker and I stopped in because of the chalkboard sign outside that said they had banana pudding. I am obsessed with banana pudding! We walked in and it's super small, but everything looks textbook perfect and absolutely delicious. We didn't get their duffins, which in my opinion, didn't look as amazing as their cupcakes and other sweets. They have really giant cookies sitting on the counter too, which was tempting. But this review is for their banana pudding. It was very sweet but each bite left you wanting more. There was a chocolate flavored one, but we went with the original and shared it between the two of us. Beautiful little cup. Half was the perfect amount! There was a giant chunk of banana in mine so I could tell they used real bananas and not flavoring of any kind. It was $5. No tax, which was weird. It was a good indulgence. I first experienced brownie points during a girls nights out when they were sampling mini-cupcakes. I opted for the vanilla and since then have constantly been craving it! When I went back or another one on a saturday, it was a bit on the dry side and not as fresh tasting as my first. However, I could still taste the buttery goodness.
