One of my favorite dining destination in Brooklyn. Every dish I tried in here ended up being great. Kebabs are juicy and cooked perfectly, lots of variety in salads and also a masterpiece uzbek pilaf. You should also try manti and chebureki. Well service is not perfect, I guess they take their time. But it doesn't matter when you are sure that the food you will get will worth every penny read more

Love, love, love this place! I'm a fan of just about everything on the menu. Though no meal would be complete without a manti appetizer & kebab entre. More than anything, I really like that you can order family style. But not the faux-family style you see in other places, where they just mean that 2-3 people share a dish. This is a general order for the table. Even better than that, their service is so consistently good, that we've taken to ordering in rounds. So, we always have delicious, warm food, fresh from the kitchen. Every event I've hosted there has ended with many, happy, well fed guests! You'd figure for a place that's ALWAYS packed, they might rush you out the door. But nothing can be further from the truth. They are such excellent hosts, even after years of service, that I'm always blown away. Note: It's not a problem for me, but it's been mentioned that when we have parties 12 and over, the restaurant doesn't really have the room to accommodate. So the chairs are touching one another. If the width of the folks attending is greater than the width of the chair, it may be a little cramped for them. read more

My #1 restaurant! I love the staff the food is absolutely yummy (as if its home made). staff are very friendly always try to give you top of the notch customer service! Also the place itself feels cozy, always packed=results of being the BEST restaurant in BK! Mwa!!! read more

What a complete disappointment. The service was shocking and the waitress attitude was just so not pleasant . Overall food wasn't that bad .

I'm never coming back here again. I called earlier that day to make a reservation for 4 people and she said they don't make reservations for 4 people. She answered the phone in Russian and I didn't understand what she was saying. They should answer the phone in english so people can understand. Not only Russian people go there. When we went inside the restaurant the lady gave us a seat right in front of the entrance where people kept passing by. We told her if we could sit somewhere inside and she didn't understand what we were saying and rolled her eyes at us. We did not feel comfortable sitting over there. We then asked another lady if we could change our seats and she said no. She said that all the seats are reserved. I looked in the back room and there were a lot of empty seats. The food didn't taste good. All the food was brought in at different times. We couldn't eat anything together. The fries were cold and they were cut weird. The crispy manti was not crispy at all. There was also a hair inside the salad. I advise people not to come here. read more

Fast! Delicious! Cheap! Can't beat that! only one minus is finding parking space around but that's not really their problem)))

My favourite place to eat!!! Love it!! Food is great!! We always go there for shishka babs, always fresh and delisious!!! So enjoy guys!!

A truly unique experience with the best quality shish kebab and yummy appetizers. A must visit. Service is exceptional. Waiters carry ear pieces and communicate with each other. Overall, excellent good and service. Very much recommended. read more

Horrible experience !!!! Order shush kabob , meat was like boiled , the owner of cafe came and try to tell us some stupid staff about if lamb get scared when get killed , the meat taste bad , like he talk with idiots !!! Even don't apologize , but offer to us come back !!! My friend have order pilaf, same problem !!! Second day still sick both of us on our stomachs!!! read more

This restaurant has been renovated and looks better than it was. The waiters are polite and speak English. The menu does not have many items to choose from, some items are repeated. For example, they have fried dumplings w/ garlic and boiled dumplings w/ onions. Most restaurants would have the same dish but give options on how its cooked. Here they don't and the prices vary. I ordered fried dumplings w/ fries & onions, I told the waiter that I didn't want the onions. Then he said if I didn't want the onions, the chef would not be able to give me that order but instead boil the dumplings. Why does taking out onions drastically change the dish? Also the waiter kept popping in and out to ask me whether I was enjoying the food, this happened a few times and was annoying. The surroundings are nice and by that I mean the eye candy was nice. I don't know why the walls are covered up with carpet and rags. Also russian music is constantly playing, this is not a quite place to eat. You have the option to eat outside but then your sitting in the cold. The meat tastes better than most Uzbek restaurants in the area. The portions are nice but could be just a bit larger. Just leaves something to be desired. This place also has a bar, however like the food menu it lacks variety. The only reason I am not giving this place a five star rating is because the experience was tainted, I got stomach virus. I ordered fries. The fries were plentiful too, enough for 2 or 3 people. On the indoor tables there are heinz ketchup bottles and some other sauce that is made from peppers. I am going to guess its something you are supposed to eat with the kebabs. Its a thick red sauce that is in the same bottle as the heinz ketchup with the label torn of. I guess its home / restaurant made. I got sick from it, it must have been there on the table for a week. Its not like it has any preservatives to keep it fresh. It must have expired, which had me vomiting. I don't know what is in that sauce, but avoid it at cost! read more

Really delicious food but the service should be better. I went there with my girlfriend and we didn't get any attention from the waiters.

Very reasonable price! Great food! Especially the kebabs, sause, salads, and tea! Go there all the time and they are always great! I've been to Many Russian/Turkish places, and I haven't tried better kebabs than this place. read more

I love Nargis for their food, their kebabs are simply the best. We always stop by and order food for a take out for 3 days when we are in the area. Their interier might be not that impressive, the place may be overcrowded, but the prices and food quality beat everything, and you can always order a take out. read more

The best avocado salad ever! Usually order out because you will come out smelling like a kabob from there. The salmon kabob is one of my favorites here, cooked perfectly not dry. The beef is also very delicious. They have amazing fried dumplings! Delicious food, long delivery wait but well worth it! read more

This is a great place! The food is out of this world - shish-kebabs, samsa, rice pilaf (plov), appetizers etc. Very friendly and helpful staff. This is a very popular and crowded place, so if you do not have a reservation, you might have to wait for an hour on a busy weekend night. But the food is SOOOO worth it. :-) Pricing is very reasonable and compared to Manhattan restaurants\cafes this place is dirt cheap. :-) read more

I take out about 3-4 times a week here! I LOVE IT! The food is AUTHENTIC! Everything is fresh. Salads, soups, samsa, babaganoush, plov, kebabs, spartak!!!!!(that's dessert) Service may take a while bc everything is freshly made! Yes, if you go on a Saturday or Sunday mid-afternoon/evening expect a ridiculous wait. That's why I order out. As far as service, I go there so frequently that they are very pleasant with me, bc of the intensity of customer's waiting to be seated I can see both sides loosing their patience. Oh...and you can bring our own alcohol! read more

We used to love this place came here all the time. However, they recently changed all the portions and samsa is so tiny now. Definitely doesn't taste the same way. Not worth the wait. read more

Cheap not really fresh .;( my friend recommended to us but doesn't deserve a penny. They are rude doesn't except any customer wrights . Don't try to go I there . Save yourself . read more

This place is a gem. For the price, the atmosphere, the service etc. The food is delicious, and freshly cooked. Its also very filling. The neighborhood which its located is nice and there is street parking available on side streets. I've been here about 3 times now and I have yet to be disappointed. I plan to keep coming back. read more

I'm not one to love Uzbek food (too oily for me usually) but I enjoyed everything I tried in Nargis. Lagman, lamb and noodle soup, was really good and filling, as was samsa, meat in dough type of dish (again, it is usually too oily and heavy for me but we got the chicken samsa special which was amazing) and manti, Uzbek take on dumplings (go for the pumpkin manti special if they have it, its out of this world good). Shish kebob was nice, although not as outstanding as their dough based dishes. Service was good, but that might be because I'm used to Russian speaking service in BK. Anyway, great place for brunch any time of the week, as well as dinner. read more

This is probably the only Russian place in Brooklyn where you will get decent service. Yes, Russians go here and they do get loud and smoke wherever they want, but this is also a clear indicator that the food here is good and authentic. So if partying with roudy Russians isn't your cup of tea than I would suggest comming here for lunch or on a weekday. They recently expanded and added outdoor seating which is nice because the place usually gets packed. The atmosphere is ok, some Uzbeck decor elements around, and they are always blasting Russian pop on the tvs. I guess you could say it's like Uzbekistan on that little corner. Their lagman is outstanding, but the shashlyk and plof are sometimes inconsistant. Sometimes plof is too greesy with unbalansed spices. Shashlyk is sometimes dry by the time it hits the table. One of my favorites there is the fried pilemi with carmalized onions which is untraditional but very delicious. Salads are freshly made and always well seasoned. Great place for groups or people with kids, good attentative servise staff. read more

It's a very good place to eat delicious Easter n food for affordable price in a cozy atmosphere. Waiters are friendly and easygoing. Food is great, shish kebab, baklava;))) I have visit this place first time but i will come back for sure read more

I have to say the food here isnt terrible which is why i'm not giving it 1 star. So ive ate here 4 times now and all 4 times my stomach hurts after Dinner. I am barely able to make it home to use the bathroom. And im not the only one who feels that way. I think its what they marinade the kabobs with , which btw they all seem to be lacking flavor and it seems like all the meat taste exactly the same. If you are looking for a reasonably prices place to eat then you've found it. Dont expect good quality food bur you can expect good service. read more

I am in Nargis Cafe again. All food was delicious as always and Spicy Margarita from Oleg was fantastic!! Thank you so much and can't wait to return for more! read more

Best shashlik (kebab) in Brooklyn, maybe even in NY. The chicken kebab is my favorite by far. My only complaint with this place is that for their price, the portions feel very small. Bottom line, go try it. read more

Been to this place at least 25 times, and it always hits the spot. The food is beyond affordable, and the service is usually great. Highly recommend the pumpkin manti, beef kebab, and the tongue salad. read more

Delicious food. Fresh, tasty, and well presented with very good service. Never a bad experience. Real authentic Uzbek food. 100% recommend.

I have been going here for 3 years now and have never been disappointed. My family and I love everything on the menu and after trying similar Uzbek restaurants, no one does it like Nargis. I order 4-5 times a week to go and take friends here all the time. In my opinion they are the best restaurant in Brooklyn! read more

Had a wonderful lunch today. Great service, very friendly staff. Everything we tried was freshly prepared and very tasty. Started with mung bean soup, delicious, and carrot salad. Tried the grilled chicken hearts, they were delicious. Next time I'll order Plov. I've been a customer since they opened and were occupying single business place (20x100 or something) now its a big restaurant that occupying space of 4 businesses. It didn't happen at once but every time they were becoming bigger, the quality of food became lower. I've switched to a different restaurant for my uzbek cuisine. There are many around these days and searching yelp will help read more

First time I tried this type of food. Delicious, I recommend, coming back real soon! Try the cuisine, its fresh and good!

Great food. Good service (depends on the waiter). Always crowded - very popular. Can bring your own alcohol (there is a charge for that). read more

First I'd like to say if there would anything lower than 1 star, I'd rate it at less than 1 star. The stuff is extremely horrible. Customer service does not exist in this restaurant. Food seemed to be reheated. I definitely do not recommend this location to anyone. And btw. There's this guy that works there. Probably the manager or something. I wouldn't let him even clean my toilet at home. That's how rude he was. Raises his voice and very disrespectful. read more

They charging $6.50 for the tea ! Are you kidding me?! Very Loud Russian music .............Don't recommend ... Food is ok nothing special!

Always excellent food. Every meat is tasty and generous. Herb fries are excellent. Even desserts are good

I love nargis cafe ,always order a food from there almost a year ,but today I was disappointed with my reservation for diner time ,we wanted to invite our friends to this restaurant and I called to make a reservation but the girl said to me that for 4 people it's not possible and u need to call before coming in 15 min and check is there a table or not and if not they gonna put me to the wait list(((it's not make sense,if I would like to wait I could just come without any reservation,I know this place and I wanted exactly place which I like but unfortunately 4 people is not enough for it !!!! read more

I dined here last week on Thursday. We went there a little after 8 and it was very busy. The hostess and our waitress were very nice. Our hostess made great recommendations and took the time to explain each item in detail. I came with one guest and we ordered the lamb shank entree, grilled fish entree, the avocado salad, two samsas: one meat, one pumpkin. It was my first time trying a samsa, and the pumpkin one was very good-- I would order it again (just keep in mind it's filling). My guest enjoyed the meat samsa. The entrees were very big -- my friend enjoyed the lamb shank (the only negative review was that the mashed potatoes that accompanied them were instant-mix). My grilled fish on top of vegetables was seasoned and cooked well. The avocado salad is simple but refreshing -I enjoyed the dressing made of dill and lemon! Delectable. I will come back to sample more items on their menu. Go with a bigger group so you can share family style and try more dishes! read more

Serving up some of your standard (and some lesser known) Uzbek cuisine, Nargis takes you on a journey through the Silk Road by way of your stomach. It serves up an authentic styled interior complete with colorful ikat prints, golden oriental chandeliers, cushioned benches, and intricate Islamic-styled metal works. The service is typical of Uzbeks: warm and hospitable. Though some may take the waiters suggestions as pushy, they really are more about ensuring you have the best possible meal. For drinks, aim for a pitcher of the housemade kompot. I usually stray away from these fruit concoctions as they tend to be too sweet, but Nargis manages to lower the sugar without sacrificing taste. For appetizers, my family ordered some traditional Uzbek non (lepyoshka), Tashkent Salad, Spring Salad with Feta, meat samsas, and chebureki (fried meat patties). The lepyoshka, while fresh and tasty, did not deliver that exotic taste I usually love in the Uzbek variant. Instead of it being served with some delicious cumin seeds, it was dressed up with sesame seeds that didn't add much to the taste. The Tashkent Salad, which consisted of crispy onion straws, boiled meat, scallions, radish, and boiled eggs all in a creamy dressing, was flavorful but could have used a bit more salt. The Spring Salad with Feta was a favorite at our table: fresh, perfectly seasoned, and delicious. The samsas were also scrumptious, but my hat goes off in particular to the cheburek. Usually, I find chebureki to be far too oily and heavy to be palatable, but Nargis' version is heavenly: crispy without being over-fried, light, and with well-seasoned meat to be found on the inside. The soups were also extremely worthy of note! The lagman, a tomato-based thick noodle soup, was extremely flavorful and well-seasoned. My favorite of the meal, however, was the chalop: a sour milk soup filled with radishes, onions, and herbs. I'm usually not one for cold soups, but this was a STELLAR choice. Don't let the ingredients scare you; this is one amazing bowl of milk. As far as entrees, we ordered khonim (steamed pasta rolls with potatoes and onions, topped with tomato sauce), manti (traditional Uzbek dumplings), and a variety of lyula and lamb kebabs. The khonim, a dish my mother remembers fondly from her childhood growing up on the delicacies of Tashkent's bazaars, was just all right; the pasta used was delicious, but the potatoes and onions inside seemed to clash to much with the Italian inspired exterior. My mother noted it was not at all like what she had growing up. The manti, usually a personal favorite, were also just ok. Served in wooden steamer baskets (reminiscent of dim sum service), the manti's dough was plain and the meat on the inside had that unfortunate character typical among many Uzbek places of clumping into smaller bits rather than forming a solid unit. It also lacked that cumin kick that I adore. The kebabs, however, were quite good; marinated well, tender, and served with generous helpings of delicious potatoes and grilled mushrooms. Offering up a wide variety of dishes at EXTREMELY reasonable prices, Nargis ranks up there with some of the better Uzbek establishments I have happened upon and is definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood to venture to the lesser known parts of the culinary world. read more
