Food is great, service is splendid, and environment was beautiful. I had the crispy monti and regular monti both were great, meat was perfectly cooked and the dough was cooked as well. My only concern is the music they play, with the tvs showing the music video definetley do not match the environment. Playing euro club music and American pop hits does not match the Uzbek upscale design of the restaurant but that definitely doesn't t take away from the main point, the food. Which is great so in conclusion it was all great. read more

Super tight, super packed, long lines....all worth the hassle. The soups are amazing, anything they serve on a stick is perfectly grilled and super tasty, the French fries are CRAZY! And the salads are fresh crispy and very tasty. 6 adults and three kids all ate to stuffed status for less than $250. read more

Wooow Nargis Cafe I'm a fan!!! Delicious salads, appetizers and main courses......service is really good.the only reason I give four stars and not five is that I didn't try a dessert ,I was too full to try it:) read more

Love the food and especailly the attentive kind service! thank you guys!

Arguably one of the best meals I've ever had. A buddy of mine who just came back from Russia said this joint is as authentic as the Uzbekistan cuisine served in Moscow. The Uzbek Plov, lamb and beef kebab, and bronzini are a must! read more

This place is always hopping. You really need reservations on Friday, Saturday, & Sunday. I have sampled almost the whole menu-everything is absolutely delicious, fresh, & packed with flavor. The service is always on point & we are always satisfied. read more

Had a late night dinner with my friend. The place and food was OK.

I placed take out order and I have to say....never again! Plov was disgusting,no flavor, taste like from microwave, bread was so firm,I could not tear it apart, only samsa was good. read more

Sunday night, we called 45 minutes ahead to get on the wait list, and when we arrived the wait was reportedly 40 minutes, but we got seated in about 10. The eggplant salad and the babaganoush were delicious. The waiter recommended the lepeshka (bread) and it went great with the appetizers. We also had the fried meat manti, soup of the day, pilaf, and 3 different kebabs. By the way, whenever you see "meat" on the menu, that's going to be lamb. Everything was great except for the kebabs that were just "OK". In addition, we found a long hair on the lulyakebab, which was fine by me, but ruined the appetite for my partner. So, sadly, I probably won't be going back here with her. read more

When my third friend recommended this place, i knew i must check it ASAP. I went there with two of my friends on a Wednesday night. First, when we called, they said they only take reservations for tables with more than six people, so we just went there without reserving a table. Honestly, when we saw the place the first time we couldn't believe that this place is considered by 3 of my friends as one of the best places in Brooklyn, but when we saw the dishes, the generosity and the taste, we knew they weren't wrong. This place is definitely stand for it reviews, and definitely for the prices (although read here that they raised the prices lately, it still worth it) We had Fries Samsa - amazing, spring salad - very fresh, Lamb Kebab, chicken kebab, beef kebab - amazing. The only problem I had is that the food was very heavy because of the use of a lot of fat, but still, a great culinary experience ;) When my third friend recommended this place, i knew i must check it ASAP. I went there with two of my friends on a Wednesday night. First, when we called, they said they only take reservations for tables with more than I ordered delivery from them last week, everything was delicious and fresh, but the bread wasn't fresh at all, so not frsh, that it made me wonder if they put it there by accident... read more

Went here for a second time last night with a friend for my birthday. We had the delicious 'Spring Salad' with loads of feta cheese, and equally delicious fresh bread to start. I also had the refreshing homemade fruit drink, an infusion of Apple and berry flavors. My friend had a glass of wine, quite reasonably priced. The main course was the branzino; a mild, sweet fish, cooked to perfection on a bed of saffron rice, with a small dish of pomegranate sauce - sweet and tangy. What was more enjoyable is that we were seated quickly outside, with ample table space. The waitstaff, always quick and attentive, provided extra tablecloths as impromptu 'wraps' for female patrons who were a little chilled; a nice, considerate touch. The food is delicious and well-priced. The only downside I can think of is that they no longer accept AmEx as payment, only Visa, MasterCard or cash, as was apologetically explained to us by our pleasant host, Boris. Not a major compromise, so we paid in cash, and will do so the next time we return. A nice place for friends, family or a date. And yes, they do speak English too, as my Russian is minimal. However, I will say, 'Spassiva!' for an enjoyable evening. read more

Love this place! Went yesterday for some great food even decided to bring some friends

Very nice place. I live a couple of blocks away, so my boyfriend and me like to go there for the lunch or dinner. It's alway great food and very reasonable pricing. You always can get a table there, even when they are busy. I feel lucky that place located near me. read more

Coney Island is definitely known for its hot dogs and boardwalk but the locals know there is a lot of delicious ethnic foods that can even be devoured here and won't have you missing you overheated hot dog. Moreover, a lot of the restaurants are cuisines that are even difficult to come across in many large cities so take advantage on your next visit! Nargis in particular is a delicious Uzbek restaurant that should not be missed. The food is fancy take on home style cooking. I loved it and would definitely recommend getting the kebobs and pumpkin manti! Yum!!! read more

Wow wow wow! The food the service the atmosphere is the bomb. I've been in many Russian places. But here I felt right at home. I really like the iPad presentation was super helpful with detailed pictures. Christina, our server was extremely helpful with suggestion and the presentation. Everything was really tasty and delicious and I couldn't wish for a better place to celebrate my birthday. If you're Russian, American or just about any other nationality this place is absolute must. read more

Great salads and skewers. Everything was reasonably priced. The russian napoleon dessert was delicious. Staff was friendly and patient. The waiter explained the food to us and even a bit about his culture. You can order from regular menus or iPads with pictures. I went there on a weeknight and it was fairly crowded but we didn't have to wait. Parking was not easy. read more

I don't know why the average review is 4 stars. The lamb was very gamey and felt strange chewing it. The bread, though enormous was very hard on the bottom such that you have to pull the top off the bottom. The hummus was actually very good and fresh. The chicken kebabs were unimpressive dark meat like you get at the Russian buffet for 4.99 a pound. This was all take out and they get the three stars because staff was very courteous and the food was well packaged. read more

Excellent selection of food . Kebabs , Plov, Lamb shank, kimchi, dumplings and more. The bread is outstanding . We tried the eggplant & Garlic spread which was excellent, the Plov was good. The kebabs (lamb & beef ) were excellent. Lamb shank delicious. Dumplings good. I had excellent service from our waitress . Good beer selection. A good experience . Bcusny! I would like to go back and try some other items on the menu. Kudos Boris! I was bit confused on how much to tip with the 10% service charge . I read that it does not go to the waitress. We gave 15% in addition to the 10%. read more

Hands down the best shish Kabob I ever had. I always get the lamb and chicken shish. The home fried patatoes and their Nargis salad and home made juice are highly recommended. Everything Ive tried on the menu was delicious. read more

The food is Excellent consistent and the service is on point. Its uzbek/russian spot on coney island ave but very friendly to us american/english folks. They are a busy spot (who likes empty spots) so get a drink while you wait. Recommend the shashlik shish kabobs and the oxtails. They are byob so bring your drink of choice but they have a bar too. read more

THE best Uzbek restaurant in New York! Unbelievably delicious somsa, plov, lula kabob and soup. They remodeled and expanded and that made this place explode to busy lines and longer wait time. What surprising is that they truly expanded their services and upkeep of their staff who are always friendly and professional. Must visit place if you are in Brooklyn and New York! read more

One of my favorites places in Brooklyn! Great food for affordable prices. Juicy kebab, tasty appetizers, fresh vegetables. Comfortable seats, fast waiters, clean bathroom. Only one thing i don`t like there - russian music videos on TV, but really... who cares about that, when you are having a good time in the great place?! read more

Supper food. I think Uzbek food is the best simple and and delicious a little bit crowded, table stays too close to each other but the food is so good so you not paying attention at the Crowding . read more

The only problem with this place is that it is so incredibly far from my place in Midtown Manhattan. You cannot, unfortunately, satisfy an Uzbek food craving easily. I learned this the hard way, after coming here and craving basically everything I ate a day later (the lagmon, with its bouncy homemade noodles and chunks of flavorful beef, the crispy pumpkin manti, and the tender grilled meats). Also, everything is better with a dollop of sour cream, and Uzbek cuisine here takes full advantage of that fact. The atmosphere is intriguing as well, with its Central Asian decor. Highly recommend! read more

Great place! Food was delicious & service was excellent. Friendly & family environment. Looking forward to going again soon!

One of the best Uzbek restaurants in NY. Service is very good, waiters and staff are very professional and attentive. I love their avocado salad and kebabs. Their soups are delicious!!! I would go there often if only i lived in Brooklyn! read more

Delicious food. Try the Lagman soup, and the pumpkin samsa. I would've given it five stars but the tables are SO close to each other that you feel like you are sitting with other people in your party that you don't even know. But, it's worth it. read more

I ordered from Nargis at 7pm $80 worth of food. So not cheap. When the food came an hour later I was shocked to see that the home fries and French fries were soggy, cold and wet. The chicken kebabs were raw therefore inedible. The lamb kebab was the smallest kebab I've ever seen, cold and in a pool of oil. I called them immediately to tell them about the issue. The woman on the phone put me on hold and then hung up on me. I called back and she told me that she didn't hang up on me that it was disconnected and then she told me that she spoke to the chef and he said that the food is always like that. I asked her if the chef said that he always serves raw chicken and soaking wet French fries. She then put the manager on the phone who asked me if I wanted them to come and get the food. I told him that I did I fact want them to pick up the food as I couldn't eat it and that I wanted my $80 back. He said he would send someone over. That was a little after 8pm. I called back at 9:30 as no one has come to get the food. They then told me it would be another hour before someone could come and pick up the food and give me my refund. Wouldn't it have made sense for them to tell me that it would take more than an hour and a half for this to happen. It is now 9:50 and still nothing. I work in the restaurant industry and I would never treat a guest like this. I will never go to their restaurant or order from them again. Not only does the food disappoint but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. read more

Amazing restaurant. Good food and great people. The environment of the restaurant reminds you of the old Russia from back in the day.

amazing plov and that's about it. All other dishes have a taste of zira in it and samsa is too much fat too little meat for my liking.

Great BBQ, a must go. $3-$4 for a stick of meat !!!!!!! I visitted again last night, what a great place read more

You WILL need a reservation for a Saturday night. But since Nargis is open 12 hours most days,( from 11 AM to PM, & 1 AM on Sat.) you should find the time. This place just doubled in size & they're still packed. That alone should tell you they're better than the surrounding competitors. Our waiter was helpful & accommodating. We were steered to menu highlights in every category, & he described in detail the components of the dishes we asked about. Pumpkin dumplings were a sweet/savory delight; cumin scented chopped pumpkin was nothing like a Thanksgiving pie. Crusty, hot 'non' bread was chewy, & perfect to dip in fire roasted eggplant spread. The lamb chunks in the "plov", (pilaf), were moist & tender, the rice was oniony & lightly pan fried. So were the onions that decorated the pan fried meat dumplings. I would've preferred them to the raw slices that supported the beef kebab. The beef perfectly charred outside, & rosy succulence inside. There was a crunchy tangle of deep fried onions on the cold Spring salad too. (Basically, onion is a supporting player if not a co-star in almost every dish.) The shredded carrot salad was tangy, cumin flavored & onionless. Just when you think you can't eat another bite, there's "chak- chak", fried noodles doused in honey; crunchy, chewy & addictive. The homemade Napoleon has a dense vanilla pastry cream layered between phyllo leaves, a baklava, napoleon hybrid. Did I mention that they have a full bar, beer on tap, & they have a BYOB policy too? The service was efficient, friendly, and even on a busy night, the empty plates were quickly removed, hot food brought out within minutes. If this is how they treat newbies, I look forward to being a regular. They also DELIVER! WOO HOO! read more

Considering my background I have been to my share of Russian restaurants in Brooklyn but I must say I was truly impressed with Nargis. It is middle-eastern cuisine at it's best with very pleasant staff (unlike the terrible attitude one can encounter in many other Russian places). I had recently gone there with my family that was visiting from California and with my kids. They were all very impressed, especially since my California family does not get to experience Authentic Russian food very often. We started out with their salads, tried the soups and, of course, the kebabs. Everything was delicious! Obviously for these reasons the place is very popular and busy so try to get there at non-peak hours such as early dinner or late lunch. read more
