Vegetable Pho
Carlena F.

The restaurant was really small. When I walked in, I did a quick scan, not realizing there was seating capacity of about 20 people. However, the staff was nice and accommodating. I got my order to go. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The pho was pretty good. I had the veggie pho without tofu. I love that it had bok choy. I also had the summer rolls which were really good. The peanut sauce was delicious. It was a bit pricy for pho, which is usually more reasonably priced.

Great Vietnamese spot! Food was fresh and full of flavor. The serving sizes were generous so I did not leave hungry. The Vietnamese coffee was also AMAZING!! Definitely the best I've had outside of Vietnam. The staff were very friendly and I could tell this was a spot with plenty of regulars.

Had a bad day today so figured I would go to my happy place. Nam Pho you heal the soul but also the body. Had the iced jasmine tea and instantly my thoughts became clear and my mind felt refreshed. Next the summer rolls were spot on as usual with the freshest peanut sauce around. On to the main reason we are all come here, the Pho. Rich and delicious broth with fresh cuts of beef and veggies makes this my hand down go to Pho place in Maryland, Virginia and DC hands down.

I used to visit this place often. I stopped coming when my last visit was a little less than pleasing. Anyways, decided to give it a try again. Mind you, It's a 40 minute drive for me so I passed quite a few Pho places on the way. Today was meh. It was basic. Nothing special. Things really get interesting if you don't like something or point out an error For example, the fried spring rolls says it comes with three. I was served two. If you're not going to update the menu, please train your staff to share the update if and when a client orders that item. I ordered the lime drink. I've gotten this at least six times in the past. It was God awful today. My server took it back to the kitchen and the woman owner was not having it. She added more ice and lime and told him to bring it back to me. I didn't ask her to do that. Ma'am, it's nasty!!! It's bitter. It's missing mint. It's missing something key...it doesn't look like it used to look. I don't want it and therefore you can't force it on me. When I asked to have the drink removed from the check, the female owner came out of the kitchen and asked what's wrong. I told her "it's nasty!" Oh ...she was seeing red. Angry. She said many other things like the palm sweetener comes from Thailand and she doesn't have it, etc. Ma'am ....share all that before I place the order. What's interesting...one of the customers across from me had the same disposition as the female owner and she received much better service. Maybe it's cultural, I don't know. The customer (maybe she's a friend) yelled out "where's my water?" Then when a bowl was brought to her, she said "I want regular. Take it back." All was well when she complained. And the customer was loud. I was shocked when another table of diners got up to leave and the loud customer said "You're so skinny," to the stranger walking by. You could see it made the lady leaving uncomfortable. What an awkward lunch. I don't miss this place as much as I thought I did. It's all good...until you don't like something. The female owner gets very defensive. How do you improve if you're not open to constructive criticism?

This place does Pho right! My friends and I ordered a couple of Pho speciality Dac Biets to go. I added a Vietnamese coffee and a passion fruit drink to go as well. Wow definitely order these drinks as the coffee was strong and the fruit drink had so much fresh fruit in it. All of the food was neatly packaged and they give you plenty of meat. The flavors were on point. Aromatics, fresh ingredients and a really rich broth make this my favorite Pho spot in the area. I stopped in to pick up the food on a busy Friday around noon and this place was packed. Most of the tables had diners and the chefs in the back were busy making orders. The kitchen looked small and I would say be patient as they had a lot of online/ phone in orders to fill. The staff was friendly and I recommend getting their house spicy sauce. There's a lot of peppers in it and it's a richer sriracha. Yelp reviewers got this place right and they even received a Yelp award in November 2023 for being one of the highest rated restaurants in the area. The broth was so good I even saved some for later. Prices are a bit high compared to other spots, but remember it's Annapolis. I'll definitely be back to try their other speciality dishes.

Vermicelli bowl with fried spring roll... yumm!!!
TJ B.

This place is great. It is some of the purest Vietnamese food you will find anywhere, made with pride and frequently changing specials that you will not find anywhere else. My problem is I really like PHO, and their PHO is great! I typically get traditional beef Pho with eye round (Pho Tai) and sometimes with brisket. It is excellent and the broth is a little different each time you go. The Pho Ga is excellent also though and that is not what I typically get at other Pho places. It is great here. So what is the problem? The problem is EVERYTHING is good! You have to try the rice and noodle bowls as well as the specials. My favorite bowl is the Fried Spring Roll Vermicelli; it is a large portion of a sort of salad/rice-noodle dish. It is excellent. Instead of Sriracha they have a homemade chili sauce that they make from scratch every few days. When you eat in house you get a squirt bottle of it at your table, but if you get it to-go they charge for a side because the peppers cost quite a bit that they make it from. It is flavorful but also packs some heat! Use sparingly. The owner, Jenny (sp?), is very friendly and very proud of the food that they cook. Ask her questions and she will tell you all about the process and often walks things out of the kitchen to show you how it's made. I have never had this kind of friendly pride in any restaurant, let alone a Pho place. I used to have an issue with the prices, as it definitely costs a bit more than your typical beef noodle soup spot, it is worth it though. A large is $16-$19 depending on the variety and if you like to order with iced coffee it'll set you pack another $9. So, as that can get kind of high for a quick lunch, sometimes I just skip the coffee and then I'm not spending any more than I usually would BUT, when you do get the coffee it is excellent. It's not one of the places that has a pre-made pitcher that they just pour over ice and hand to you. This coffee is MADE TO ORDER served traditionally with the french dip thing over a glass in front of you. Anyway, give it a try. Go at least twice... once to try the Pho and once to sample something else on the menu or special board. Enjoy!

Summer rolls

Have been wanting to try this place since the rave reviews in the Annapolis take out fb page. Coming into the shopping center I had accidentally passed the restaurant. It's located where the China Wok sign is. There is a few bar stool seats and booths. Service was decent. The pho broth is darker than I'm used to, but full of flavor and still a clean broth. The summer rolls ($9.95) were pretty good also and had a decent amount of protein. The pricing for the portion is a little off to me compared to other places I have been. I ordered the Vietnamese coffee($8.95), small bowl of pho($16.95), with extra meat balls($4.75) and summer rolls for $42. Side note: they do charge for to go boxes but I wasn't aware until I got my check. Love that it's a family owned and ran restaurant would rank it as #3 in my top 3.

Guess we can't have a opinion without getting threaten by the OWNER.
Pri S.

This is ridiculous. The owners can't take constructive criticism. They will continue to message you on different accounts. I will not change my opinion or review. I had bad service at Nam Pho. They forgot my order. I never once got an update on my order. They blame the customers for coming on the busiest day. I understand it's busy. But keep your customers inform and stay on top. Apparently, they don't understand everyone has different taste buds either. Now they continue to harass me, saying I was rude to there 14 year old. The kid they claim that is serving looks like a grown adult. Yes, you are trying to intimimate me verbally it is a verbal threat. Threat - "A threat is a communication of intent to inflict harm or loss on another person. Intimidation is a tactic used between conflicting parties to make the other timid or psychologically insecure for coercion or control. The act of intimidation for coercion is considered as a threat."

Went for pho with my parents for early dinner on a Monday afternoon. No wait time. The service was nice and found out that the cuisine was from the southern region of Vietnam. Strong on the lemongrass. Serving size is smaller than other Vietnamese restaurants I've had in other states (in the Northeast). They make their own hot sauce. Inside is a regular Vietnamese restaurant interior/vibe.

Set in a strip shopping center there is plenty of parking. The interior is very clean and attractive with many of the traditional oriental touches. There were 5 of us and we were seated near the front window. I was somewhat surprised at the steady number of customers on a mid-week afternoon. Four of us ordered off of the lunch menu which includes egg roll, fried rice and entree. Our daughter started us off with ordering a "Volcano" cocktail for the table. It comes in a large bowl with a flaming center, very impressive. You get extra long straws to hopefully avoid setting them on fire. I took a sip but opted out for a more traditional cocktail. I started off with hot and sour soup. It wasn't listed on the menu as part of the special but seemed to be included. It was spicy! For my entree I had the chicken with cashews which was delicious with plenty of cashews to keep me happy. All of the others also had chicken dishes except our daughter who had the crispy beef which was not a lunch special. She loves the crispy beef at Jack's and it's her go-to dish of choice. The service was good and the owner who was also working the dining room was delightful. If Jack's Fortune was closer to us it would definitely be on our regular dining out rotation.

The pho was comforting and well done, with a clean, aromatic broth and generous portions. The spring rolls were fresh and light, a great starter to balance out the heartier dishes. Which is wild, because I know I've taken a bunch of food pics here that I've never posted... complete waste lol. We walked in and were seated immediately and ended up getting the second-to-last available booth. Most of the room was couples on lunch dates, plus a group of friends, and later a party of about 7 took over one of the tables. Noise level was mostly moderate, with a quick sprinkle of loud when that bigger group got going, but nothing crazy, still totally fine for a date or a relaxed lunch. My wife ordered the A2 (slices of eye of round steak, well-done flank, and soft tendon). I got the A6 (eye of round steak and soft tendon). The pho was good, the broth had a lot of flavor. I did order extra noodles because while I like the pho here, the portions are a little smaller compared to some other spots we go to. I loaded mine up with bean sprouts, tore up some basil, and let the jalapeños sit in the bowl for a bit for heat. Lately though, I've been more about the chili oil, which they'll bring out if you ask. We also got shrimp summer rolls, which are always a go-to for me when eating pho anywhere. These were fresh, great texture, and the basil really pops. The peanut sauce is one of the best parts. Honestly, I could come here just for the summer rolls and that sauce. I also grabbed a taro smoothie, lightly sweet and creamy, solid choice. Food came out fast, maybe 8 minutes after ordering. Service here is consistently good. The staff is friendly, not pushy at all, and they actually check in on you without hovering. You can always get someone's attention if you need something. They even let a couple move from a table to a booth once one opened up, which I thought was a nice touch. The place itself is very clean, the tables and floors are always well kept. I don't really remember music, but there was a TV on playing college basketball. Overall vibe is relaxed. Parking can be a little tight since it's tucked behind a Rita's and the layout is kind of awkward, but even when it's full you're not walking far, just a compact lot. Price-wise, our total was about $40, but that included an extra summer roll and an extra smoothie. Without the extras, it would've been under $30. My only real critique is portion size for the price, specifically with the pho. It's not a deal breaker, but it's why this isn't my go-to spot when I'm really hungry. I'm a big guy with a big appetite -- my wife would be fine eating here any day of the week. Would I come back? Yeah. The food is good and the service is solid. For me, this is more of a quick lunch spot or a stop when I'm on the move, rather than a full dinner destination. Consistent, reliable, and never a bad choice, just depends on how hungry you are.
