I used to visit this nail salon years ago when under different management and left because they just didn't do quality work. This Christmas my husband bought me two gift certificates for $35 each to Nail Spa 101 not realizing I dont' go there anymore. He bought in that denomination after talking to them and buying their mani/pedi package. My daughter and I went in today and decided that I wanted a mani/pedi - but I wanted a gel mani. She didn't want a pedi, only the gel mani. Her mani went ok. My pedi started out ok, but the guy barely spoke English and was obviously ticked that my feet were not in as good condition as he'd hoped. My last pedi was about 3 months ago. He did my cuticles, hot towel, and minor massage with lotion. That's it. Then he painted and I was done. The mani was worse with him annoyed with me and my nails. I told him twice that I had acrylics for my daughters wedding Nov 1st, and just pulled them off when they loosened and that I have very thin nails. My daughter suggested we get coffee - no one offered us any - tho other customers were drinking coffee, and the machine is right there. She said it, loudly twice, before walking over to starbucks at Target. Meanwhile, my guy did not massage my hands at all. He worked on the cuticles, filed, and painted. I have bumps in the polish, the sides of my nails are still rough and he was rude, moving my hands back and forth in the dryer (which burned a few times). Although he kept asking me if I was ok (I am disabled, use a cane, and have to stretch my back and legs often throughout this type of treatment), he was insincere and obviously just wanted to finish and get me out of his chair. As soon as my mani was done he told my daughter, twice, 'your mom is done'. So that we'd pack up and leave. Maybe they didn't like that we were talking to other customers about her wedding? Making conversation? I don't know - but it was clear we were being rushed out. When it was time to pay they charged $73. I was unsure how that would work. I suggested that my mani/pedi gift cert was for $35 and if they just upgraded that to the gel mani for an additional $10 for the gel that would be $45. I was told they did not do that and were charging me $48 for the mani/gel pedi. Plus $25 for my daughters gel mani for a total of $73 so I owed $3 on top of my Christmas gift certificate. I suggested they could charge us $50 for two gel mani's and $20 for the pedi since it was a basic pedicure with no additional anything except hot towels. Finally I said forget it, I paid, left a $5 tip Since neither manicure was especially well done, the staff was rude, my pedi looks like I did it myself, no massage was done and they needed that $3 so bad - we will not be returning. I'll go back to Paulines or Sola Salon. I heard she charges a bit more - but you get what you pay for. read more

I normally go TO AK Nails on 91st and Lower buckeye and have never been disappointed but on Sat 1/6/2018 my friend from out of town and I were at Arrowhead Mall and need to get our nails done prior to our dinner reservations in Scottsdale for my birthday. We spotted Nails Spa 101 and decided to give them a try ..What a mistake! They were already short started but assured us that another worker was on the was in from lunch. Unfortunately once they started our services business picked up and there was 4 customers waiting. A lady who I can only assume was in charge did my fill and it was the fastest fill I've ever had...It was also the sloppest and poorest quality fill I've ever had. I told her the cut was uneven and the shape was not right but she insisted once painted everything would be fine. I always get gel so that, my $38.00 pedicure and the $10.00 tip I expected my nails to last more then 1 days but by the next day the nail polish had never fully fried and was peeling off in large chunks. I called and was told to come back. I can back on Monday the 8th and she repainted my nails. Now today the 10th the polish still soft and came clean off the nail. I don't know if the paint was old but I will never be back. If you go please pat close attention to what they are doing. Stop them if you don't like it and don't pay for a crap job. read more

Was in town for work and stopped here based off the good Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. My gel mani was very well done and I went with the Deluxe pedi which was awesome. I thought the prices were very reasonable and the salon was clean. Also, there is now a menu which separates out the prices by gender. Lanie and Kim were my specialists and they were awesome. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Phoenix. read more

I went here to get my eyebrows waxed today and was pretty happy with them. I walked in on a whim without an appointment and they took me right away. This was really no spa experience, but it was clean and the girl that did my eyebrows was thorough. The only thing that was a little off putting was that the girl asked if I wanted her to wax other parts of my face...but there is no reason for me to do that as I do not have coarse or dark hair anywhere else on my face....makes me think they are really just trying to make extra money for unnecessary services. Also, when I went to pay with my card, they asked if I had cash and were pretty insistent on getting cash....a little shady, and then when she gave me change she didn't give me any ones to try to get a larger tip. Overall, I felt like this place was a little shady, but it was inexpensive and they did a good job, so I suppose I can look past these things. read more

I won't be coming here again.. Their acrylic burned, not sure why. But I never had that happen to me before. The lady that did my nails was sweet but I didn't pay for "sweet" I paid for my nails to be done right. The acrylic was thick & bumpy her shading wasn't good. I work as a caregiver and one Saturday a month we take our clients to get a manicure and they have gift certificates to this nail salon specifically so of course we are going to take them there. Well every time we go there the staff is god awful ! They are rude and try to avoid doing their nails by saying that we need an appointment and when we try to make an appointment they tell us a late time expecting us to say never mind. THEN we go back for our appointment and we go in and no one says hello , tells us to pick out a color nothing , not even acknowledged!! Finally they come do their nails and as we are waiting for them to dry the workers whip out w six pack of beer and start drinking them ! I was very disappointed by this nail place ! read more

When for a pedi 4 days before my trip to punta Cana and I'm 3 days into my pedicure and it already looks horrible! My cuticles were not trimmed well at all and the polish is inconsistent. My right foot was pretty much rubbed raw on the bone after asking him to use the pumice stone on the side of my big toe (which he had missed in the normal callus removal that in paying for) after he said I already did (which he didn't) probably just to be mean and prove a point to me! I've been coming to Nail Spa 101 for about the last 6 years or so and I just have to tell you how much we love coming here!! We bring in family and friends all the time and they love it as much as we do!! The staff is always in a good mood when we arrive, always laughing with us and sharing funny stories. We've come to know and love each member of this family!! Their services are fantastic, from waxing to gels, to gel dips and the best pedicures around. Linda always knows where the knots in my legs are!!! If we've ever had issues with the gel or dip chipping, Linda always gets us right back in to fix us up! I love that they give a discount for bringing cash! Just a word of advice, its super helpful to make an appointment. They are very busy most days and they work so hard to accommodate everyone that steps through their door, but expect to wait sometimes if you come as a walk in. This review isn't for the entire establishment but for the nail tech that goes by "Vickie". I walked in at 5pm and was glad to be able to get a pedicure before they closed. I have been to this location and never have had an issue. I picked my color a instructed and sat and waited to be called for my service. I was instructed to sit down by a gentlemen and waited a few minutes for the nail tech and that was fine. The nail tech arrived, sat down and began the pedicure. She never smiled or talked , except when she was being rude. I was in a knee length dress and assumed a towel would be placed over my knees as is usually customary when wearing a dress and getting a pedicure. Since i wasn't offered a towel I was trying to keep my knees together during the service and this seemed to irritate "Vickie". She kept grabbing my feet and positioning them far apart, I'm assuming to help her do her job while she was damn near breaking my legs. I didn't complain, just went with the flow. Once she was ready to paint my toe nails she grabs both of my feet and Pretty much slams them down and says "DONT MOVE!" I said , "excuse me?" And she again says , "DONT MOVE!" While her hands are on top of my feet with full pressure. I was in disbelief so decided to check my email . I didn't pay attention to her paint my nails so I asked if she had applied 2 coats of nail polish. This seemed to upset her because she rudely replied "yes!" I looked down before she applied the final clear coat and the paint job was horrendous. Again, I didn't say a thing because i noticed she was getting a brush and acetone to clean up the mess she made. Finally, she was using her thumb nail to clean the cuticle of my toe and it hurt so instinctively my reflexes take control and I move my foot and say "ouch". She then yells " DONT MOVE, YOU MAKE ME MESS UP!" I said "I'm sorry, it was a reflex." , she then says " YOU TELL ME THEN, YOU DONT NEED TO MOVE!" I then said, "it was a reflex and I can't not believe this" she then says "I'm done " and walks away . Everyone (all workers as I Am the only person left ) is standing in shock . She then continues to yell at me while the owner is saying "VICKIE, stop! This is a customer" She yelled at me until I left and I was shaking and on the verge of tears. I have never in my life been treated so poorly. The owners apologized profusely and I was not charged for my service. If you go to this establishment, avoid "Vickie" at all costs. a very good pedicure indeed. a bit more than i normally pay at $30 including a hot stone massage and callous removal; $25 without callous removal. the bonus (short) hot stone massage is different and is really relaxing. they seemed super high on cleanliness ... more obvious than any other place i've been to. all the metal implements were stored in fancy looking single use packages after they were sterilized, and you watch the nail tech open it right in front of your eyes. i was fascinated that this nail salon uses new stuff on each customer, which means you leave with the nail file, the pumice sponge and the buffing thingy. neat-o. read more
