I've been doing dip for over six years and I have never ever ever had my nails chip like this! First time trying this place I don't recommend it. My nail chipped two days after I had just gotten them done. I had to take time out of my very busy weekend to go and have them fix it. Next day two more nails chip and I don't have the time to keep going back. This should not be happening. I take very good care of my manicures. Now i have ugly chipped nails before a holiday weekend! Thought I'd give a place closer to home a try ... umm wish I wouldn't have done that. Rude upon arrival. My pedicure was a simple white tip, thinking this would be quick and easy, again, Nope! First if I have to tell you that the tip thickness is to much that's a problem and then when asked yto fix it, and you don't. Now this is what I have (pic included). From there was given to another person for my nails. For a mani gel on my natural nail!! I'm going to say the issues I had could have been avoided had the nail technician been more interested in completing my mani rather than completing her movie on her phone. I'm trying to tell me I was all set only to look down and have paint on my fingers looking like a 5 year old... I'll be generous and say 9 year old have painted my nails waiting to see if she was going to address it but in turn I had to ask to get the polish that surrounded the outer nail (cuticle part) removed and cleaned up. She did about two fingers and I gave up. Sucks right before heading out of town. I don't normally do negative reviews and I went in with great hopes I'd found a new place closer to home but I want to save the next person with the same idea. read more

Splendid Nail Salon was absolutely anything but. I have never had such a painful manicure in my life. In order to get my previous gel off, they barely put a drop of solution, so naturally it was still on pretty well. So, they do what any rational people would think to do and use a really rough emory board to sand it off, in doing so rubbing the skin around my fingers so raw that three of my fingers got cuts and bled. They proceeded to put rubbing alcohol on my open wounds multiple times each. Additionally, they kept using all of their tools while there was blood, including things that are hard to sanitize like emory boards, buffers and touching the tips of bottles of cuticle oil to it. Now, I know that I personally don't have any blood borne illnesses, but the nail tech certainly did not. Major health concern that my blood is now present on quite a few things at the salon. I have a weird bump on one of my fingers, and the tech was really confused by it, kept commenting on it and literally took out her phone to take a picture of it, which I don't find super appropriate. Aside from the light torture and unrequested photo shoot, the manicure itself wasn't good. The primary reason I go to nail salons is that I know I am not good at painting within the lines. So I go pay someone with the assumption that they can paint in the lines. However, that is not the case, and I have random bits of polish on my fingers rather than on the nails. One nail got a bit of cotton on it that she kept painting over, so there's a weird bump on that nail. One nail has a bit of missing polish. And most of the nail tips ended up jagged and so after taking the attached photos I needed to fix them myself. She did ask if it was good after and I said sure because I just wanted to get OUT. Plus side, it was cheap. But I would have paid to NOT have to sit there through it. read more

FYI: mildly infected toe pic attached. A friend goes here for pedicures so I went to try it. The place was very clean, and everyone was nice. However, my male technician was doing some cuticle work on my big toe after the initial soaking. I felt a sharp pain and flinched and told him that that hurt. He quickly continued what he was doing which turned out to be skinning my big toe next to the cuticle. I don't know if he thought he was removing cuticle, but I told him it hurt, he continued doing it and now I have a mild infection on my big toe that I've been dealing with for a week. Luckily he did not do the same thing to my other foot. I wish I could recommend this place because I did like everything else about it, but (at least) my technician was not skilled, did not know what he was doing, and now my toe is infected. read more

So I would like to tell people the real experience with this place . First off, most of the people with bad reviews , come in with an attitude and aren't very respectful. You also need to be accepting no place is perfect but this place is pretty close to it. I see Vy , I've gone to her for months now. She does quality work, Takes her time , and knows how to have a good conversation . Yes this is family owned but that's what makes it the best part. It's true when they say that one bad customer service experience can damage your brand. I had called in at 5:30pm to ask if making the 30 minute drive out there for a mani/pedi would give them enough time to provide me service and the woman said yes. Unfortunately, I drove out there to be given weird faces for walking in at 6pm and being told that they would only be able to provide me one service. That was fine with me but then they had me waiting for an additional 33 minutes. As a result, I did not want them to rush my nails because it was near their closing time. Longer story short, do not come here past 6pm even though they clearly close at 7pm. read more

I've had my nails done here about ten times. They do a good job on the gel and dip manicures. The issue I have is that the place feels uncomfortable. When you arrive you feel like you are invading. It is quiet and nobody talks to you. Despite going to this place that is convenient to my home multiple times nobody knows my name or recognizes me. In their defense I usually am a walk in... They are clean, do a good job on the nails and the price is better than many places around. I just tried a salon at greenway and Tatum and had so much more fun. I used to go there all the time because it is right around the corner from my house. They are all so rude and the pedicures are short and very expensive compared to others. I've come into the salon a few times while visiting my in-laws. I was less than impressed the last time I came in over the holidays, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and came in again over spring break. First, the salon is absolutely filthy. There is a thick layer of dust/acrylic powder over everything. On this visit, not only were old machines and old nail polishes haphazardly lying around, there was even a prescription pill bottle left out. The bottles of cuticle softener and oils were filthy as well. It felt really unprofessional and I'm sure several health codes were violated. I got a mani/pedi. My mani was awful. When removing my cuticles, she kept cutting into my skin, leaving my cuticles raw and bleeding. The ends were ragged and not filed. For my pedicure, the water was cold and my technician rinsed the "grater" (for lack of a better term) into the tub where my feet were soaking and then put my feet back into the dirty water to soak. I went to this nail shop with two friends a couple of weeks ago. Two of us asked for the classic Mani -pedi, while my husband just got a pedi. There seemed to be a bit of interest in upchanging for things. I ended up with a pretty good pedicure, but my finger nails were bad. Edges ragged, after I got home I had to remove the nail Polish. They were cut way too short, and very uneven. My friend was charged way more as they put on gel Polish, and as the person doing her nails did not speak English, my friend had no idea the Polish was different, and more money. My husband had a great pedicure. We will not go back. Be aware that if you go, you need to make sure that they understand what you want and will pay for. read more

I have been coming to this salon for ten years. The new owner added some new additions like Wi-Fi and water (which they offer you sometimes). Google states this business is open until 830pm. So I came about 7pm. The sign on the door stated they closed at 7. The owner was up front so I asked her. She said a pedicure was no problem. The woman who did mine was obviously in a rush to leave because she hurried as fast as she could. She cut me several times. She smudged the polish when she put on my shoe. And to top it all off she commented on my "big belly" and then proceeded to ask me if I was "having a boy". No. I'm just fat. Thanks. This was not the relaxing experience I had expected. This place has the happiest Asians I have ever met in my entire life. You literally walk in the door and they all yell Hello and giggle for 3 minutes.. And who doesn't like to be greeted by smiley happy giggly Asians? I certainly dont mind. Splendid Nails has been around for as long as my mom has lived in this neighborhood, which is at least 11 years since I've been coming here since my first prom. I believe any nail shop that can stay open that long is pretty impressive. The owner, by far, gives the best mani/pedi's .. and she is also one of the funniest people I have ever met in my life, but to be quite honest, I have never received bad service from any of the ladies that work here. Ive even gotten full sets here that lasted through football games and softball scrimmages, which is hard to find. They also give a great eyebrow wax too if this is what you are looking for. The only reason I am not giving them 5 stars is because one time I was in there enjoying a deluxe pedi ($32) and the fattest grossest man in Arizona walked in looking to get his "toes cleaned up"... Every single person working in there literally sighed in disgust and clearly started talking shit in Korean.. not that I didn't find this mildly entertaining, I just thought it was kind of, rude, because you could tell dude knew what was going on. Horrible Experience. Two of us had made appointments for 2 manicures. 2 pedicures. We sat in a foot bath for almost 30 minutes. Big groups kept coming in (walk ins) and they just didn't say no! It took us nearly 2 1/2 hours for very basic services. Noticed too that they DID not sanitize the foot tubs either, chairs are pretty beat up, cracks in tile. I've been going to Splendid Nails on 32nd St. and Thunderbird since 2001, everyone there is so great and have never given my a bad manicure, pedicure, nail tips and/or wax. They know what they are doing. They are funny, caring people. I agree with Nikki F., never complain, in English anyway, but I know a couple of them personally and they don't judge, we have intelligent conversations and both men and women there are great. Everyone I've recommended there, which are many, have always returned and said only great things as well. I've also sat next to people that have felt they are the greatest. When I travel, which is often, I make sure I get my nails done before I go and when I get back. If I'm gone for more than needed to get them done, I'm always disappointed and overcharged. I've also never gotten an infection from the nails, if I gotten nail tips, and if I have gotten nail tips, they last a very long time, no coming off. I rescue dogs of all breeds and used to work and live on a farm, so I'm pretty tough on them and my feet. I highly recommend this Splendid Nails on 32nd St and Thunderbird to anyone of all ages, for all events...or just to get your nails done. read more

Okay so I just tried the best kept secret in town! I had the Splendid Pedicure at Splendid Nails. It included all the services of the other pedicures offered at the Salon, plus more treats. I practically had to be scooped up off the floor when it was over. I was so relaxed, and it was so enjoyable! I had never had a pedicure like it! They use a Vegan Spa recipe which includes a Sea Salt Soak, a Sugar Scrub, a Mud Masque, and a Massage Lotion all keyed to whichever flavor/scent you choose. I've been to this salon several times, and it's be OK (language barrier can be challenging at times)... the work is acceptable and its clean (always a concern of mine). However my experience yesterday lead me to post this review...... I walk in, gentleman greets me, let him know I need a pedi & mani - ok sit down at my table (mani first) he's getting my soak bowl and tools ready, he's just about to sit down to start on my hands when I lady walks in. He greets her, asks her she needs - she replies gel manicure, here's where it gets interesting..... He tells me, "you know what, lets do your pedi first....walks me over to a chair, tells her to sit where I was sitting and then tells me to sit, I ask him (because everyone BUT him is with a client) how long before someone is working on me....he reply "about 5-10 mins" NOW you know that means 15-20 mins because I can clearly see they're all still at the beginning stages of the pedicures. I tell him NO thanks, I'm leaving! Not sure why her gel manicure took precedence over my regular boring manicure ( I don't know, I looked clean and was showered, brushed teeth before heading out for my daily errands so i don't think i was repulsive to work on?) , but NOPE there are too many salons in this town to settle for this treatment. He seems SHOCKED that I didn't play along, one of his workers (owner or boss, I don't know) starts shouting at him in a language I didn't understand....he said "you wait"...I say "no, I no wait ", thanks for shooing my off, just when I was getting my self confidence back LOL!. I used to come here a long time ago when I lived in the area and since I recently moved back to this side of town I decided this was close and I'd start coming back here. Well, unfortunately I won't be coming back here ... Ever. And here's why... I came in today as a walk in and was asked "what I need" and I said I wanted gel, then was told ok "one minute" and so I went over to the seating area to wait, as I knew "one minute" was not going to really be one minute and that just meant I had to wait, a strange way of Asian nails places to get you to stay and wait? When really I'm usually okay with waiting and expect it if I don't have an appointment. It's be nice if there was more accuracy in that regard, but oh well I'm used to it who cares right? Whatever so I'm sitting there waiting and 2 girls walk in and seem to have been familiar faces to the owner (so I assume) up front, the same guy who "greeted" me (if that's what you want to call it) there was "hi how are yous" exchanged and they were asked what they want they said "both wanted a full set" then were told to wait over in my direction. They came sat right next to me and as he was finishing up with his customer and she was paying he yelled "would you like a pedicure too" and I assumed he was talking to me because I was next right? But before I could say anything the girls answered yes. So he went back to his station and motion to come over and sit down, again I'm thinking this is me because I had been waiting and therefore I was next (or should have been) the two girls said quickly "both of us?" And he shook his head as they got up to walk over there and sat down. At this point I was like really? That's not cool. It's one thing that I was skipped but another thing that I was not even acknowledge nor did he say "I'll be right with you" or something of the sort. Kind of rude, but I continued to sit and wait for him or someone to motion me on over but as I looked around and realized that was not happening any time soon, I just got up to walk out. As I was walking out he nearly screamed at me "WAIT JUST ONE MINUTE" again and I politely said "no thank you" and continued out the door. Obviously he took precedence over the two girls, one because they were familiar customers, and two because they were spending more money than me. I came in gym clothes with no make up on and looking kind of haphazard from working out... Had I been all dolled up I have a feeling I would've been treated differently, based on how I was treated alone. It's too bad because I am a loyal customer who is in the service industry myself, therefore tip very well. WORD OF ADVICE: you should really think about they way you do business, especially when there a 15 other nail salons within a half a mile to a mile radius. Thanks.
