We grabbed 3 musubis for a post museum snack: Spam+Egg+Avocado, Spam+Bacon+Cheese, Spam+Bacon+Avocado! All had a pretty good topping to rice ratio. They're pretty dang hunky! Which is good. I feel like that's pretty on the dot for $5 around here. Service is super fast. You order at a kiosk/ front then get your food lickety split. Service: really quick in terms of getting the food on the table. There are two registers, one self order with pictures and one where someone assists you. You order up front and they take the food to your table. Food: I ordered the eel with daikon, shrimp tempura, and macaroni salad. The eel with daikon was so good, I ordered another! Shrimp tempura was a good size, not my favorite but it's good if u want a tempura musubi! Mac salad was a good portion too. It was pretty good. I ordered the rainbow (tuna and salmon) poke bowl, all the ingredients tasted fresh and very good. It was served with two sauces that were super good. One was a spicy soy sauce to an extent. I saved for later to put on other food lol. My friend ate the BBQ EEL Teriyaki Don, my first time tasting eel and I wasn't disappointed. We also ordered one Musubi, the eel one which was great too. The Hawaiian Sun Juices were really good too. Service was fast and efficient, you order up front and they bring the food to you. It's a small quiet business but I liked it a lot and would return. This is a nice, fairly small and local restaurant in the heart of Downtown Seattle. Conveniently located near Target and major bus stations, this is a highly visited area, and I can see myself popping in here once in a while to get a musubi to snack on. After all, a regular spam musubi is $4, but for a $1 upgrade, you can get nicer toppings on top, like egg, avocado, and/or eel. I personally tried the spam, egg, and eel musubi ($5) and shrimp katsu ($5). 2 musubis got me fairly full! The spam is very thickly sliced, yet it was not very salty as I would have expected. There is a bit of sauce to enhance the flavor, and the egg was slightly sweet like tamago, and the eel is fairly fresh and of decent size that made the $1 surcharge from a regular spam musubi 100% worth it. The shrimp katsu had 2 nicely breaded and fried pieces of shrimp with a slightly sweet and tangy sauce. I liked the spam musubi more, but both were similarly delicious. It did not take too long for the food to be prepared, so this makes it not only affordable, but a quick meal too. I would definitely come back for more! read more

The Eel bowl was very delicious and well balanced with the right amount of flavors and sides. Got the Spam+Egg+Eel and the Spam+Egg+Bacon Musubi. Both definitely had the expected flavors but it could've used a bit more sauce. The size is also small for the price point so I think I will stick to the rice bowls moving forward. Also got the Potato Mac Salad and was not a fan of the flavor or the texture. All in all; it's a nice spot for if you're craving a musubi in downtown otherwise I'd just advise to stick to the Rice Bowls. read more

I'm from Hawai'i so I'm a little biased when it comes to musubis. In Hawai'i you can go to a gas station, spend $2 and have a better musubi than 90% of places here. That being said, I enjoyed the variety of options that this place had. I was also surprised to find that they make all their musubis to order which was a shock cause even in Hawai'i they are all pre-made the morning of. It was very fresh. Downsides, musubis are on the smaller side, a little pricey, but on par for WA and flavor is not bad but not enough to go out of my way for. But they have an option for everyone and have a bunch of other Hawai'i snacks and drink options. This is a good option to load up before a hike. read more

A co-worker brought me a Spam musubi couple weeks ago and it brought my golf musubi to shame. I used to get 10 slices out of a can because I wanted to use 5 sheets of nori. Spam slicer gives you 9 slices. I think this place gets only 8 slices per can Nicely sauced and browned and my first one was exceptional. Second one I just had was my bad because I let it sit about 5 hours before eating. Ordered the sukiyaki with pineapple and just wished for more meat. Musubi Kai is conveniently located right across from Benaroya Hall and the Hilton Hotel on First Street -- it's a little hidden, but with it comes a HUGE sign that says the name of the shop. I've went to Musubi Kai about two times now and they have PHENOMENAL spam musubis -- though a little on the expensive side, they are worth it for their portion and for their price on the honest level. Ambiance was the BEST of the best. They also have snacks and drinks too -- some of which you can find at HMart, and some you can't find. From the moment I walked in , waited in line and ordered and got my food was maybe 12 minutes tops. It's a very fast turn around time .
