Musubi Kai is a little hole in the wall, with a small amount of chairs and tables for dining in. I assume most people take their food to go since the musubi comes in Saran Wrap. The musubi are heftier than you'd expect. They can be a hearty snack or even a light meal. I got the spam + egg + avocado musubi. My order was freshly made and was excellent. If I lived in Seattle this would be one of my go to grab-n-go lunch spots. Highly recommended!

Definitely a very convenient choice if you're in a hurry or just need a quick snack. Tempora shirmp musubi was a little stale and not crunchy. Eel + daikon musubi ratio was very off. Too much rice with very little eel. In terms of service, food came out pretty quick. But then again, it's just protein on top of rice.

Solid place to grab lunch or a snack. Two musubis was 12$ and they weren't super big so it is pricy. Employees are friendly and I like that you can order on an iPad. Nice seating in here. Came on a Sunday around 1:00 it wasn't crowded at all. Nothing outstanding but solid if you want a musubi. They do have some more exciting toppings here other than just spam.

Cute little place in downtown perfect for a casual bite to eat! I tried the inari musubi and the eel bowl. I've had many eel bowls; this was one of the prettiest. I've never had inari musubi and it was delicious! They have a few tables and some counter seats. Service was fast and friendly, and they easily accommodated my partner's shellfish and nut allergies.

Hands down some of the best musubis in town. I work across the street from here so it's super convenient to put in an order and pick it up. It's delicious and there are some seats for dining in as well!

I am so glad that this place exists since we can't always go to Oahu for our favorite musubi place! We've ordered here a few times already and their musubis are delicious! The spam slices are thick and their sauce is just perfect! The interior is pretty cool and I'd love to dine in here next time!

Yes, I absolutely do recommend Musubi Kai!! I came here while visiting Seattle...and the Musubi reminded me of the ones I've had in Waikiki!! The sizes are just the same too!!! The service is quick and friendly'

This small little gem is tucked away just a short walk from the bustling Pike Place Market -- perfect if you're exploring downtown Seattle and craving a quick, satisfying bite. The place specializes in musubis, and they offer a pretty impressive selection, from the classic Spam to more adventurous options like Unagi with Takuan (which was my personal favorite -- a perfect blend of savory and slightly sweet flavors with that crunch from the pickled radish). Because it's so close to such a popular tourist destination, don't expect to find easy parking. It's definitely more of a grab-and-go type of spot unless you're lucky enough to snag a table for a short sit-down. The space inside is a little small inside and there are some tables. It's a self service kiosk and once the food is ready they will promptly let you know. Everyone behind the counter was welcoming and helpful, even with a bit of a line forming during peak hours. Price-wise, I will say it leans on the expensive side -- over $5 for a single musubi means this can add up quickly if you're hungry or feeding more than one person. That said, the quality and creativity in the flavors help justify the cost to an extent. It might not be the best value in town, but it's a unique offering you won't find everywhere. If you're a musubi lover or just curious to try something different while in the Pike Place area, it's definitely worth checking out -- just go in knowing what to expect.

Curry Loco Moco

This place looked pretty affordable and convenient, so I came by with some coworkers. The line went relatively quickly, but it looks like the best option was to order online. I got the curry loco moco and a Spam Musubi. The Spam Musubi is your normal size musubi but just a tiny bit smaller than what I'm used to, and it is a relatively solid size for the price. Looks like a lot of people were getting two musubi as their lunch, and it was pretty filling. The Curry sauce was a bit bland, so I was disappointed. The patties felt a bit dry, but the rice was very good. The curry + musubi combo lasted me about 1.5 meals, so it is a pretty affordable place to get a pretty good quality meal.

I've been to Hawaii many times, and I can confidently say: Musubi Kai is the real deal when it comes to authentic musubi. No mainland shortcuts here. The space itself is small and casual, tucked into downtown Seattle next to Target. You can grab a seat and see the menu via QR code or use the touchscreen kiosk by the register when you want to order. Easy, efficient, and very on-brand for a quick but satisfying bite. I decided to live dangerously and try the rum old fashioned. Flavor-wise, it was solid, but since we were dining in (and the can literally says "pour over ice"), I wish we'd been given a glass with ice. That little upgrade would've taken it from good to great. Now, let's talk highlights. The Uni Matcha was excellent! Smooth, not overly sweet, and perfectly balanced out the matcha. I'd happily drink that every day and pretend it's self-care. Food-wise, the Breakfast Musubi was my all-time favorite. That smoky garlic sauce is elite-level delicious and will absolutely make you wish you had a bottle at home to put on everything. We also tried the Spam + Egg + Avocado (classic, satisfying) and the Beef Frank + Egg, which totally delivered. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with salted meat on rice. Simple math. Even though we weren't hungover, we ordered the Loco Moco because, well, respect the culture. I remember the meat being a bit more seasoned in Hawaii, but this version was still solid and comforting, not a miss by any means. All in all, Musubi Kai nails the flavors and the vibe. If you're craving authentic Hawaiian comfort food in Seattle, this spot absolutely earns a visit.

Love the variety of musubi available! Nicely packaged to-go, and a relatively short 10 min wait for fresh to order. A little too much rice, would love to see more inventive combos!

POTATO MACARONI SALAD

This place was a fun find. A pretty small restaurant but surprisingly a lot of seating. I had a large order but they fulfilled it super quickly and e dry thing tasted amazing! The Musubi was nice and warm and paired well with spam and egg and not too salty. Potato max salad was fresh and tasty. Would come again if I'm in the area. They do have a credit card surcharge (3%) but do not charge for debit cards. Didn't realize until after I paid so just something to note.

Ahi Pokè Bowl

Came here for lunch during the work week with a friend, got there on the earlier side of lunch time so it wasn't busy. Location is on Union between 1st & 2nd Ave. Walk up to the counter, order at touch screen, pay, they will bring out your food to you when dining in. Dining area isn't big so a lot of people do takeout. I had to try one of the musubis and got the Spam+Egg+Unagi(eel), it was pretty darn good, good sized chonker. I do like they have poke bowls, so I got the Ahi Tuna bowl. Pretty good, all the standard toppings you would see, they give you a side of hot sauce to pour over the top, a must do! My buddy got the Loco Moco Donburi bowl, pretty hefty for lunch and he said he enjoyed it. Overall, no issues with the food. If you work downtown it's a good spot to put in your rotation or come by and buy a few musubis to put in your pocket. Glad to have checked this place out!

He offered great menu suggestions and shared the story behind the restaurant--his brother designed the space, and he built it with the help of friends, which made the experience feel even more special. The décor is gorgeous--an elevated, glamorous tribute to the water buffalo that feels bold yet refined. We ordered the Miang Kham, Crying Tiger, and Mango Salad. I always order Miang Kham when I see it since it's such a rare find, and this one was excellent. The Crying Tiger was tasty but came out more well done than the medium-rare we ordered. That said, we still finished it because the dipping sauce was fantastic and the purple-and-white sticky rice was delicious. The Mango Salad was beautifully prepared with shredded mango that had just the right crunch and tartness. Generous portions served. Even during a busy late afternoon, the chef handled guests with ease and a big smile, serving beautifully executed dishes and cocktails. Very impressive. We'll definitely be bringing friends here next time we're in Seattle. Tip: They do true Thai spice levels here--proceed with caution."

This was the last meal with family before we headed back home to Hawaii later that evening. So the goal was to order as many dishes as possible and share share share. We ordered the Tower of Chengdu Wings, Japanese Zosui, Burmese Laphet Thoke salad, Caribbean Pineapple Cornbread, World Butter Board and Beirut Hummus. Talk about a dance party on your palate. Every dish was so flavorful, thoughtfully prepared and so damn tasty. Broke da mout to be exact. The wings were amazing and packing heat with Thai chilies all over. I avoided the chilies and devoured the chicken. Yum. I loved the Burmese tea salad, cornbread and hummus. The World Butter Board is a must if you're in the mood. And no, that's not a bad thing, quite the opposite. Cornbread is almost impossible to cut without turning into a head of crumbles, but the flavor is on point. Note: the "topped with coconut shavings" is an understatement. There's almost as much coconut as corn here. So if you're not a huge fan of coconut you may want to steer clear. The place is hustling and bustling, and there is little space between the tables, but while seated you don't mind; the noise level is ok and your conversations don't carry between tables.
