The bun was fresh and delicious, and I think they use the Field Roast frankfurters, which are my favorite veggie dog on the market. The fries are perfection and the "just a taste" portion size option is BRILLIANT. I'm in town from Austin, TX and I am bummed we don't have a place like this there. While coming to Denver many times over the years, I've always wanted to try this place and finally I did! What impressed me was that even though this place is incredibly old (it might even qualify as a historical landmark?!) it was incredibly clean and well-maintained. I love that! The employees were such nice guys. The menu was actually a lot more diverse than I thought it would be. Plenty of options for people who want something a little more on the healthy side. We were disappointed when we had lunch here the other day. The beef, that I remembered being like Chicago's Portillos, looked more like it was the processed beef that Arby's uses. And the hot dog my wife ordered had the "snap" when she bit into it that she doesn't like. If you like this type of beef and hot dog, you'll enjoy this place. Been going to Mustards for 30 years first in Boulder then in Denver. Had the craving for Chicago dog today and went to DU location. Everything was the same (it's been awhile)which is good except the Chicago dog ( a snapping vienna) while tasty was minuscule.... Could barely see it and it was $6+usd. This dog way smaller than used to be and not very satisfying They offer double dog but quite expensive They also did offer a 1/4lb char dog for almost $10usd. Vienna dogs witha natural casing are my favorite hotdogs, they have surpassed my all time favorite, Nathan's, because they have less sodium in them.
