Ever since our go to Chinese take out place closed several months ago, we've been trying to find a new one that my husband and I agree on that is located close to our home. I'm glad we finally got to try this place, only drawback for us that they are closed on Tuesdays which is our normal evening to get dinner for carry out due to scheduling. I was overall impressed with the food quantity, quality and pricing. They were very accommodating to our customizations with out it affecting the taste. I really liked that my dish did not taste overly greasy as some Chinese takeout can taste and will be able to enjoy leftovers as the portion size was very filling. Didn't care for the eggroll as much, tasted like straight cabbage and we did not receive any sweet n sour sauce for them. Overall will definitely be ordering again! read more

We've had Pork Egg Rolls, Shrimp Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon, the Happy Family, Shrimp with Broccoli, dragon & Phoenix, General Tso, Seafood Delight. Everything is always AWESOME and the portions are LARGE...tons of protein. This one of our favorite Chinese restaurants, used to live just down the road. Love their hot and sour soup and Wor Su Gai. I live in Dublin now, but am always glad to have an excuse to go to Gahanna, so I can stop by for a carry out order. Be sure to order the large soup so you have plenty for two meals. read more

Second time I've tried here. I won't be back. I thought it was because I had such a long drive the first time & that's why everything was a bit off. It's still off. Lo mein over cooked. Rice too hard & bland. Ordered online & they didn't see it. Had to wait in the parking lot for 20 minutes. I really gave them a chance. read more

Another for the "good not great" file. Pretty typical strip mall Chinese place, lots of carryout orders, decent dine-in situation. The menu is huge, with all the Chinese-American standards. Only a few more interesting choices, and I didn't notice them till I'd already ordered. I went with one of their "new" specials, Dragon and Pheonix: General Tso's chicken paired with garlic shrimp. The shrimp were huge, but watery and overcooked. Mixed with a ton of good veggies in a very mild sauce, no garlic noticeable. The Tso's was a solid version- big chunks of chicken, crispy coating that held up to the sauce, which was not overly sweet. Huge portion, making it a good value, just not an amazing taste sensation. I also had crab Rangoon, again, a huge portion, but pretty blah- tons of cheese, tiny bits of crab. Nice sauce on the side. It's handy, but I'm not in a rush to come back. Good value, okay food, good service. Oh- canned pop, not my favorite way since I usually end up having to get two. And plastic forks so flexible that they would not pierce the chicken or carrots. To start, we tried calling in our order, and the guy who answered the phone, could NOT understand English (or speak it for that matter) So, we drove down the street to place our order (this wasn't any better). We ordered 5 items (house chow mein was one of them and had to mention it 5 times) 1 of our items was never rung up OR MADE, that being, the HOUSE chow mein. There's a HUGE sign in the place that says " We serve sweet tea" it's "Brisk" brand lemon tea and ITS NASTY!! We also ordered a side (pint) of chicken low mein, we got plain low mein. The food overall WAS pretty decent, but NOT $55.00 decent!! Reason for the 1 is cuz I had to go in to ur establishment to order my food and YOU STILL got it wrong!!! read more

Coco it shrimp is incredible. Great takeout only. No seating and not so nice inside. But the food is very good. We had broccoli beef and sesame chicken and crab Dagon and pot stickers. It seems unfair to compare Columbus Chinese to San Francisco Chinese because it is soooo good out there. But I am in Columbus and just wanted Chinese. Lengthy menu. You will definitely find something that suits you unless you want pizza. We got General Tso's, hubby favorite, and Hunan Beef both with hot sour soup and fried rice. Generous portions. I was not displeased and can see myself picking up an occasional meal. No it isn't San Francisco Eliza's but it IS within driving distance. So I look forward to a return visit. I hope they have good pad thai. I wouldn't go miles and miles out of my way but it is 9 miles away for me and I avoid using unnecessary gas. We enjoyed both meals. A good solid 4 stars. read more

I am used to there being vegetables in my fried rice. what I was not a fan of was the amount of onions. there was full chunks of onions throughout the entire thing it was all I tasted. Delicious!!!!! I do not know how they do it but the food here is FANTASTIC!!!!! I ordered the Shrimp and Cashew Combo and had to bring 1/2 of my dinner home! There were so many shrimp in the meal - at least one in every bite. We did eat in and therefore everything was extremely fresh and arrived to our table steaming hot! The food is above average for Columbus Chinese, but the real draw of the place is Mr. Wok himself. If you're ever lucky enough to venture in when he's behind the counter you'll hope you get him every time. He's brusk and he shouts your order much to the same tune as the famous Soup Nazi, but it's more giggle worthy than intimidating. Replacement mission accomplished. $5 gets you a hearty lunch entree along with soup or egg roll. The Magic Wok is one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurants! The large menu and low prices are common among these sort of Chinese restaurants, but the quality of the food really sets Magic Wok apart. For an appetizer, you can't go wrong with the dumpings or the crab rangoon. For about $4 you receive 8 pieces. Both are so good that sometimes I forego the main course and fill up on appetizers. If I manage to save room, I thoroughly enjoy both the sesame and the General Tso's chicken. Ordering General Tso's usually feels like a huge cop out to me, but that guilt quickly fades as I eat! In two years I have only ever been disappointed with one meal: the kung pao chicken, so I suggest to avoid that particular item. Everything else has been amazing! read more

I don't know if this place in under new management but the sign now reads "Mr. Wok". Kinda funny, you can tell the 'r' is the only new part of the sign. Yea, take out "agic" and buy a new "r". There was no hand soap and I had seen the cook go in there. Plus I hope this was a mix up in language but see the photo! We called ahead to order Sunday holiday brunch for a dozen people. They told us to call night before and they came in early to prep and had ready a half hour after they opened. Most other Chinese restaurants didnt even open until 4p, so they have good hours, accommodate large orders, got the order exactly right, and the food was all great! read more

OMG Their food is so good and they were very sweet to accommodate me with a food delivery 15 minutes before they closed. I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai. The noodles were perfect. The shrimp were huge and flavorful and the vegetables were cooked very well. They had a good noodle-like but still crispy consistency to them that matched well with the noodles. My family and I have ordered take-out from here for many years. Our favorite appetizers are the crab rangoon and the shrimp egg rolls. We often enjoy the shrimp egg foo young, sesame chicken, house lo mein, general tso's chicken and moo goo gai pan. The fried rice is simply amazing also. We have never had a bad meal here, ever. As a family, we love take our order home and set up a "buffet" of food to share. The order is always correct and complete. For larger orders, soup is included for free.
