L17. General Tso's Chicken Lunch Special

Okay, so I wound up ordering lunch from here through Uber eats and honestly the food was good, a little oily, but I think that's to be expected when you order Chinese food. I ordered a large chicken fried rice, large shrimp lo mein, lunch sized General tsos chicken with fried rice and fried potstickers. Despite being almost 30+ mins from my home the food showed up hot and in tact. I didn't care much for the general tsos chicken, idk something about that chicken just didn't taste right so I wound up tossing it and just eating the rice. Everything else was fine, the reason for the low rating is that their food is cooked in peanut/tree nut oil. My son has a peanut/tree nut allergy, but he can usually handle it in small doses. I've never had to ask for his food to be prepared separately or make note of his allergy. After a few bites of the fried rice and lo mein his lips started to swell up and he said his tongue was tingling. We've had Chinese food from plenty of places, usually order the same things, and have not had this issue before. So while the food is good, if you have any type of allergy be sure to send a note to the restaurant or call to let them know. If it's a severe allergy you'd be better off ordering elsewhere.

People who work here are so rude and have no business etiquette. The food is also below average.

They don't actually open up on Sundays until noon. Or at least that's when they answer the phones. After calling on Multiple Sundays.

The portion was really big and this is one of the best chicken soups that I have ever tasted. I also ordered the Combo Pad Thai as well as Hunan Chicken. The Pad Thai was delicious! We were the only patrons at this time. With it being our first time, we took awhile to go thru the menu. So many choices to choose from and so many appealing entrees. We ended up getting the diving chicken and braised lamb stretch noodle accompanied by some chicken wings to try. My diving chicken blew my socks off. It was beautifully presented, aromatic, and warm. It was accompanied by white rice. With Plenty of tasty marinated chicken, bok choy, green onions and bean sprouts in a semi spicy broth. Super fulfilling and a nice portion. I shared my bowl with a hungry 6 year old and still had leftovers! Fiance got the braised lamb and stretch noodles, he admitted he had no clue what he was getting or what to expect. Nevertheless he received a nice hearty bowl of lamb and hand stretch noodle in a nice and hot lamb broth. Also accompanied by white rice. He finished majority of his bowl only leaving some broth behind. We both tried each others and both agreed on the diving chicken having a better taste but I think it's because it's spicier. The chicken wings were on the dry side but they were still tasty and completely devoured. Service was standard and immediate. I didn't see a kids menu. Buy we Really enjoyed the food. Can't wait to try more!!

I opted for delivery and was looking for a quick soup. Another helpers picture caught my attention and they offered free delivery on dash. Food arrived really fast, piping hot, and was absolutely delicious. I had the Dapanji stirred noodles which was silky and smooth and packed with flavor. The chicken was chunks of thigh meat on the bone and had bell peppers and potatoes. Sounds simple but MAN! Delish! It also had fresh noodles in a separate container. I also ordered hot n sour just in case I didn't like it, and I tasted it but couldn't put the Dapanji down. Hot n sour was also fantastic (leftovers for lunch tomorrow!). The eggroll was so so fresh and crispy. Not oily at all and the texture of the meat (white meat chicken) and veggies was PERFECT! This was probably the best door dash meal I have ever had. I must try eating in the restaurant soon! Side note, they also packed everything in the cutest containers and included utensils (spoon, chopsticks, toothpick)

We were greeted and seated quickly and service was very friendly. As we were hungry, we took a mi Ute to decide what to order. We had planned on storm fish, but made a last minute decision to Sichuan sliced beef (we loveeee a numbing pepper!) with starts of egg roll and spicy wontons. Seriously those wontons are one of the best things in the whole city. They're SO good I could eat a few orders of those alone and be happy. Egg rolls are nice, but just a simple egg roll. Nicely crispy and tasty with the spicy mustard. The Sichuan sliced beef was the perfect thing for a chilly rainy dinner. We love spicy so I'm a bad judge of heat level, but this is spicy but a numbing spicy. Lovely spooned over steamed rice. The cabbage and bean sprouts were my favorite bits in this dish because they added a crunch. Might ask for extra next time!

This upscale Chinese restaurant has been in business for decades but has recently reopened after a kitchen fire. With more than 200 reviews, they have a 4.8-5 STAR rating. I've always enjoyed their food, portion size, the ambiance of their interior and super service. What sets Hunan Lion apart is the chefs perfection of sweat and spicy sauces whose flavors profile are unfounded. The flavors are heavenly and unequalled by other restaurants in the area. I ordered the Mongolian Beef ($19.95, my daughter the Pad Thai ($19.95) and her friend the Sesame Beef ($18.95). Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Disappointed to find out it was General Tso chicken on one side and Hunan Shrimp on the other. Not a true Phoenix and Dragon dish. Very gooey. Chicken was over fried hunks of General Tso doused in gooey sauce...just uneatable. Should be chicken breast meat and raw shrimp stirred fried in a clear spicy sauce. Panned Fried Noodles Combo. Good amount of beer, chicken, and shrimp with broccoli on top of thin egg noodles. Noodles were hardly pan fried and were really mushy. Ugh. Wor Sui Gai. Probably the worst I've ever had. It was sweet and sour chicken with a tasteless bland gravy on top. Since you can only find Wor Sui Gai in Central Ohio (because of the OG Cantonese Chinese families who settled here), this was a major disappointment. The only highlight of our $75 dinner were the Spring Rolls. Good shell, not over fried. Good cabbage filling and seasoned inside. I had great hopes that Hunan Lion might be the best Chinese food in Columbus. But for its high prices....not the quality you'd expect. The problem - the menu is too big. Different dishes made from the same base ingredients or fried foods but in different sauces. Sauces that are too gooey and overwhelming. I'd rather see less items and quality food than multi pages of menu. Bring back the Cantonese food of the OG Chinese restaurants of yesteryear. Only Wing's is left. No more Jong Mea, Rice Bowl, the Peacock Kitchens, Gam Long, the old Ding Ho.
