Really good chili oil. I had the Dan Dan noodles and dumplings in chili oil. Portions for both were large maybe even extra large for the noodles. Could not finish which is unusual for me. Kept thinking this is really good chili oil. My wife had the fried rice and thought it was excellent with a hint of smokiness. My stuff was from the light end of the more "authentic" menu. After much deliberation, I chose to order the very same mediocre dish I got last time. What can I say: Never learn from your mistakes. Maybe the best its ever been. Best shrimp ive ever had. Hunan shrimp had lots of huge shrimp and lots of vegetables. Most Chinese restaurants skimp on the vegetables. Not Main Moon! This is a Chinese restaurant specializing in Sichuan Cuisine in the Worthington area. It did not disappoint! BIG portion, GREAT value, and YUMMY food! The menu has two sides. One side offers more authentic Chinese dishes, and the other side features more American Chinese dishes. My favorites were scallion pancake and boiled fish filet! Wish the pancake came with some sauces, but I dipped it in the wonton chili oil sauce, yum! Boiled fish filet is a very classic Sichuan dish, and it's not as spicy as it looks. Amazing food and service! The owner of the cozy and quaint Sichuan restaurant was has been very welcoming on all our visits. They have one of the best Dan Dan noodles we've ever had I'm Columbus, hands down. Love the Beef Ox Tongue in Chili sauce, Farm Stir-fried Chicken and every hot pot we've tried as well. We came across this place a year ago but haven't gotten around to this review. It's one of those hidden gems that will blow you away if you're not afraid to go beyond the normalcy and go Authentic! Sweetie went to the Hungarian Butcher next door today, and met her friend for lunch here afterwards, and brought me home some shrimp fried rice. I didn't have high expectations. I figured she ate most of it, and it wasn't something I'd generally order on my own anyway. (I'm not a big shrimp fan.) Must've been a big portion, because there was plenty left. Decent amount of plump, tender shrimp. Lots of rice, lots of bits of scrambled egg. Some green onion, carrots, peas. Not exactly fried, even in the "fried rice" way. Still mainly whitish rice. The majority of these reviews appear to be from a previous iteration of Main Moon. They don't seem to reflect the menu and the Chinese menu that Main Moon is currently serving from. The current iteration of Main Moon, based on their website, began in 2020. If it's been a while since you've been to Main Moon, give it another go! A couple of weeks ago I ordered what turned out to be a lot of food from Main Moon. I was craving Chinese but wanted to support a restaurant other than my handful of 'go to' Chinese restaurants. I ordered dumplings in chili oil (红油水饺). The dumplings were shrimp based, think chunks of shrimp, and the chili oil was a delight. Crunchy flakes, ginger, garlic, and a fair amount of heat. I also ordered egg rolls which weren't as crispy as I wished they were but hey, I still ate the whole thing. (I am sure that the only reason they weren't crispy was because of them being freshly fried before they were placed in the to go bag. Also I could have easily crisped them back up in the air fryer but, I most certainly just ate them. :) ) I found the house special pot duck (三杯鸭仔) to be a delight! It was the comfort food that I didn't know I needed. The chopped duck was cooked with bell peppers, onions, ginger and garlic, and basil. Seriously, it was so comforting it felt like a food hug. Couldn't we all use a food hug? I ordered two dishes from the snack section at the end of the menu. Little did I know that they would be both sizable dishes. The noodle dishes I ordered were Chengdu special mixed sauce noodles (成都杂酱面), and tongjing xiang vegetable noodles (铜井苍素面). Each dish was different with one being more spicy heat and the other featuring a balanced slight heat with numbing from the sichuan pepper in it. From what I could decipher the sauce on the Chengdu mixed sauce noodles contained doubanjiang, ginger, vinegar, and sichuan peppercorns. The tongjing xiang veggie noodles had a lovely brightness to it from the preserved vegetables that topped it. (Note on the tong jing xiang veggie noodles, they did contain peanuts.) read more

I am shocked this place is not more highly rated. It has authentic Sichuan's food, and specifically, their "special roasted fish" which is super hard to find in the states (but something we would always get as expats in China). The fish comes whole (yes, head on) and so you need to figure out how to eat it, but it is roasted and all the meat comes off so easily. It is spicy and the kind of thing that you'll get cravings for if you like spicy Chinese food. We ordered the pickled pepper roasted fish, and some spicy cucumber. This was a good amount of food for two people; I recommend going with a larger group and getting the roasted fish alongside multiple items on the menu. Manager was also very nice and welcoming. Look at all that RED! I used to frequent Main Moon in Linworth/Worthington for many years. It had its issues now and then, I stopped going at some point then it changed hands twice during the pandemic. So today I decided to try it again. The menu is typical of Cbus Chinese restaurants right now, a blend of Americanized takeout selections along with an authentic Sichuanese inspired menu as the main feature. The menu is extensive considering the times we live in currently. The staff/owner was cordial, efficient and polite. Today, since this food reheats well, I chose takeaway for two luncheon dishes, each including free hot sour soup, one dinner dish and one appetizer listed on the menu as a noodle "snack." Dish names and comments in the captions. Overall I'd give the experience /5 and I'll try them again. A couple of misses. Not enough lunchtime only menu selections -a very good value- for those thrifty among us. And the dishes are priced oddly to begin with, with many being the same price despite major ingredient differences. My only real gripe is that their huge stack of seemingly new takeaway menus don't align with their online ordering pricing, with the latter having upcharges on most everything - on top of an already added online "convenience" fee. Located in a very unassuming strip in Linsworth, you would never guess that you can find some of the most authentic Szechuan Chinese dishes here. We came on a Friday night, and the place was already more than half full of Asian clientele. That's a good sign. As we looked around at the tables, we found unfamiliar dishes... definitely not your typical sweet-and-sour chicken or lo mein. The decor in the restaurant is very typical of an average Chinese joint though. Upon further inspection, I found it amusing that that there were decorations from Korean, Japanese, and Chinese origin...Kind of like a fusion of whatever they could get their hands on to fill the walls. Lol - So practical Chinese! The owner assumed I spoke Mandarin and started asking if I wanted the authentic Chinese menu versus the Americanized one. The Americanized one will have your familiar fare which includes lo mein and sweet-and-sour chicken. I'm Cantonese, so I decided to give the other menu a try. I was really surprised at how vast that menu was. He recommended a few dishes that were typical of his region in China. We started off with a DanDan mein, which had a soy bean paste and hoisin like sauce to it. But it was definitely spiced up by the Szechuan pepper oil. Warning to Westerners, a lot of Szechuan foods have this peppercorn in it, and the spice level may be more than what they are used to. It's a more floral and aromatic heat though, which is unique to that spice. The Szechuan oil also makes the dish alot more greasy than is deemed healthy these days. My husband chose a stirfry string bean as our vegetable. It seemed they deep fried them before stirfrying it for that texture and addictive, wok taste. So, although it was a vegetable, it wasn't all that healthy. Delicious though! I wanted a light fish filet dish & told the owner to surprise me. My son wanted the salt and pepper calamari because he loves fried calamari. And because we didn't think that was enough food for three people LOL, we also ordered a tofu dish and a double cooked pork belly dish the owner said was one if his favorites. The pork belly dish ended up being my husband's favorite too. The pork belly was authentic with it's 'chew' because they leave the skin on. Kinda reminds me of that preserved kind my mom use to cook in with her rice or they use in clay pot rice dishes. The calamari was my son's favorite, unsurprisingly. And I think the noodle dish was my favorite although it was way too salty and I ended up being thirsty for the rest of the night. It was also super filling with the wheat noodles. My fish dish, although good was not as appetizing as the rest of the items. However, it was excellent as a leftover dish with some vermicelli rice noodles. All in all, this is a wonderful choice if you are looking to be a little more adventurous in your Asian cuisine, and don't feel like trekking out to Bethel or downtown. If you like spicy food, visit Main Moon on a cold wet day and warm up with the Tongjing vegetable noodles and the Spicy Triple Delight. We loved them so much that we ate far more than we planned and returned the following week for the very same dishes. We were less impressed with the veggie egg rolls and spring rolls that had only plain cabbage inside, and with the Shrimp and Scallop Scent Double Flavor, but we will be back to try the huge list of other items on the menu. Perhaps because so many customers are Asian (a great sign!), the extensive menu offers little explanation of each dish and very few photos. However our host was very friendly and attentive, and we enjoyed the simple family atmosphere and reasonable prices. Met up with a friend for lunch recently on Tuesday. It is located in a shopping strip mall at the southeastern corner of US 161 and Linworth Rd. Parking can be limited during peak times. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side of things. We did dine-in, but from the looks of it all from the in and out, they do quite a take-out / delivery business here. We were the only one's there for a lunch dine-in. Their menu has many traditional American Chinese entrees, but they do have several that are Szechuan style dishes. Soup comes with your luncheon order. While I was anticipating a cup of soup, they brought out a large bowl for each of us. I had their Chicken Corn Soup, which is much like corn chowder. Great taste. If you prefer something with more of a kick, my friend ordered their Hot Sour Soup. The soup has more of a beefy flavored broth with tofu. The soups themselves would have been enough for a meal. For our entree's, I ordered the Hunan Combination while my friend ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein. Ample serving for lunch for under $10 each. The Hunan Combination had sauteed chicken, beef and shrimp with veggies in a brown beefy sauce. Really had a full, great taste to it. The Shrimp Lo Mein was ... okay. Not much flavor to it, honestly. Wasn't bad, just not much to it. Overall, seems to be a great place, especially if you are looking for carry out. The food was pretty good. Service was attentive, but not intrusive. I have few go to dishes, chili oil won tons, eggplants, and ma po tofu that I order at authentic Chinese restaurants. Main Moon prepares these basic dishes very well. I typically order mine as take out. I decided to do a sit down this week and try new dishes, boiling fish and spicy ribs. Both were delicious and left me wanting more. The host is super nice. The total bill for these three items came to $30 after tax. The Singapore noodles could've been spicier, but it wasn't too bad after adding hot sauce and garlic oil on it. Both condiments were offered free of charge by the friendly person at the counter. The General Tsos was average and the meat could've been crispier. The Pad Thai was the worst we've ever had. My fiancé and I just moved in down the street and ordered takeout shortly before closing and we were so impressed! The staff was friendly and the food was probably the best Chinese takeout we have had in Ohio. My fiancé ordered the general tso's chicken, I got sweet and sour chicken, and we split an egg roll, spring roll, and crab rangoons (moving made us hungry ). This place baffles me. First they're closed on Monday's, now they're open on Monday's and I can't count how many times I believe they've changed management. In fact we stopped going for a good while because in the last year or two, the quality of the food took a nosedive. But we have recently given it a couple more chances and I think, after today, we're done for good. I don't know what they use in their dishes that are cooked in white sauce, but I always find small chunks of congealed slime, clear in color, and kind of a "textural freakout", as Andrew Zimmern would say. If you look closely at the photo, you can see this 'slime' attached to the carrot, on top of the baby corn and swimming around in the sauce. Every white sauce dish I've had contains this gloop. Today it was in a dish called Seafood Twin. My son ordered the Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce. It was loaded with tons of onion and other vegetables, but not much chicken. His comment was, "You'd think a dish that features chicken would have plenty of chicken in it." My Seafood Twin, which contains shrimp and scallops, had 5 pieces of shrimp and tons of little rubber balls that were supposed to be scallops. Some of them were not a creamy white color, like scallops are supposed to be, but rather dark in color, almost orange, which made me almost afraid to eat them. Definitely not worth the $11.45 and the Chicken in Hot Pepper Sauce was not worth the nearly 10 bucks. Chinese restaurants are a dime a dozen on the Northwest side and in order to keep business, you have to be really good with the food or offer cheap prices and, sadly, this place does neither, in my personal opinion. read more

I would not recommend this place to anyone except who prefers super super super SALTY food and/or who does not care much about an UNPLEASANT comment from the chef. Background: I've lived many different cities including NYC and Toronto and tried many BBQ and Chinese restaurants. Even in Columbus, I've checked out more than 5 Asian restaurants so far. I can only say: I HAVE NEVER COMPLAINT ABOUT ANY RESTAURANTS FOR HAVING TOO SALTY FOOD. Main Moon is an exception - I had one bite and it tasted salty to the extreme, a little bitter. what's worse is that after we told the waiter about this issue, the chef came out of the kitchen and complained to us as if we were making trouble. The female owner was relatively more friendly but insisted that she didn't see any issues in the food - fair point, but NOT CUSTOMER CENTRIC at all. I gave two stars - one for the only moderate dish of BBQ eggplant and one for the female owner who agrees to exchange the dish. Business owner - please don't reply to me (and I won't answer). New owners have gone for the truly authentic route instead of the Americanized Chinese route this restaurant used to follow (it looks like all reviews older than mine are for the old owners). The menu has a lot to offer, including a huge selection of kebabs! The food is absolutely amazing, some of the best in town and the closest to what I've had in China. Kebabs have a ton of flavor, the eggplant one was excellent. The Pidan Dofu was very tasty, and came in a huge portion. Even a simple dish like tomato and eggs here was extraordinary, best I've had in many years. This place is a must go for any foodie or anyone that misses the authentic tastes of China! read more
