This place was right on point. Real Authentic Chinese food. I ordered the Cumin Lamb and Chonqing Chicken. Cumin Lamb flavor was perfect and the chicken won me over when I tasted the Wok-Hei. The owner assured me MaLa flavor profile is used in dishes like Mapo Tofu and Fuqi feipian. Apparently this place is under new management (with a new cook) as of Feb '13, so the previous reviews may need to be discounted. Regardless, after months of not being able to find decent take-out Chinese food after moving to Cbus from SF, I finally found satisfaction at Main Moon. Ordered the shrimp/veg stir-fry and the mu-shoo chicken (total $19 with rice and tax), and enjoyed both. They were both fresh, tasty, and plentiful, and unlike other Chinese food I've had in town, neither was salty or greasy. So we tried this place a couple of times last year. We had mixed results with each order. After being initially won over by some amazing shrimp dish the first time we went. Then we stopped going here at all. Until a few weeks ago when I called in to get some simple lo mein. The voice on the other side was speaking so fast I could barely keep up with what he was saying. He informed me that the restaurant was under new ownership and the menu I was looking at didn't exist anymore. So I confusedly stumbled into yelp to find the photos of their menu. (please put this in a more readable format!) Fortunately we're adventurous so the new menu didn't scare us off at all. - Beef Kabob - Chicken Gizzard! - Lamb dumplings - Cashew Chicken The cashew chicken was your standard fare. Still pretty good quality though, excellent reheated leftovers. The beef kabob was juicy, had a light kick to it and was wonderful. The gizzard had the same kick and the delicious gizzard chewiness. Those dumplings were faaaaaaantastic. Star of the show, will absolutely be trying every other dumpling on the menu. My hats off to the new ownership, you're doing a great job at rehabilitating that place and offering excellent food for the eclectic diner. Just please, put the menu up with bigger text =) read more

Tried this tonight, ordered delivery. I ordered the chicken with Chinese pickle (a fave of mine from a now defunct restaurant) and although I specifically asked for no bell peppers, green peppers were throughout the dish. I really hate them, so I couldn't eat much of it. It was, however, truly spicy (as it should be.) The ginger prawns were another matter. Basically nice, plump, large prawns in a sauce that was just sweet. Sickeningly sweet. No flavor of ginger, no flavor at all other than sweet. I did try adding hot oil to the sauce, but it was just soooooo sweet. Spring roll really wasn't worth mentioning (or eating). I have heard great things about this place, so maybe I ordered incorrectly, or maybe you have to eat there (but, it wouldn't have helped the 'ginger' prawns). I am always looking for new Asian food choices, but I'm afraid this isn't going to be my new go-to. read more

Recommended by the Hungarian butcher next door, and it didn't disappoint. Dumplings in chili oil were incredible. Twice cooked pork was great (salty, but tasted authentic, so I'm not complaining). The owner was super cool, and brought me some sausage (after I shared some from the Hungarian butcher next door). The guys were so nice but to promote "authentic" Kung pao chicken and receive what tasted like stewed chicken in ginger with slimy vegetables that did not compliment the dish in any way. Very underwhelming. Took over an hour for delivery and the order was missing the egg rolls I ordered. This was the second time we ordered from here and took almost an hour for delivery both times, and both times the food was not impressive. The general tso's sauce was more like slime and the pieces of chicken in the sweet and sour chicken were tiny/mostly breading. The sweet and sour sauce was actually pretty good though. My coworkers and I ordered several meals today. Its close to work, we love Chinese, they deliver...its all good, right? WRONG! Sesame chicken started out decent , however, as we got lower in the dish it became obvious that older chicken was refried and resauced. It was too hard to cut with a knife. The General Tsos had a good top layer, then the last 2/3s was inedible. Honey chicken, same thing. It was obvious they refried old chicken and reserved it. Egg rolls....2 good ones, the third so greasy it squeezed out the other end when I took a bite. They didn't screw up the fortune cookies...pretty much the only nice thing I have to say about this place. Never again, main moon! I will probably never return here . I arrive 40 minutes to close planned to eat real quick. After ordering and the food arriving I had 20 minutes to eat before they closed. As he dropped off my carry out that I ordered for here the guy told me that I couldn't eat here cause they closed at 10 even though it was 20 mins away. Very rude customer service . So I took food home and the pot stickers were burnt around the edges he only gave us less than half a ramekin of sauce for our 8 potstickers . Lo mein was ok not very much flavor . Wonton soup was dyed a horrible pee yellow with hard wontons and no flavor . The egg rolls were good though and so were the prices but not good enough to return. read more

Not sure what the problem is with these other reviewers. I have never had an issue with the food here. I order for delivery regularly and food always arrives promptly, hot, and well prepared (even when making special dietary requests). This is quintessential Americanized inexpensive Chinese food. If you want gourmet, white napkins, and ambiance go somewhere else. But if you want a good sized portion of tasty food for cheap then I recommend Main Moon. read more

Food is always hot and they come very fast for delivery. Sucks that they are randomly closed on Monday but the quality is great. I never have any complaints. I love the fried rice. My wife and I order about once per week. I'm impressed! Better than any other Chinese I've had in Columbus. Edit: Sadly, my last two visits have been horrible. They only gave me 3 shrimp in my shrimp and broccoli combination and told me it's because the dinner portion comes with more but the combo is only 4-5 but I didn't even get that! My wife orders the hot spicy pepper beef but it came with so many onions and peppers there was barely any beef. Fried race quality has gone down. Looks like white rice with soy sauce on it. I ordered sesame chicken and pork love me in for delivery. It came really fast...20-30 minutes. I thought it was fine. Nothing spectacular but nothing bad either. I like that there's no msg and the sesame easy all white meat. The sauce for the sesame was very globby as another yelper said in the review. I would order again. read more

It has been many months since my boyfriend and I stopped here for the first time. I did not want to leave a review because it was such a horrible experience but I feel I should. My boyfriend and I shared an order of combo fried rice however that part doesn't matter. I ordered a bowl of won ton soup to eat before our meal came out. The bowl was small, had a little round base to it and was placed on a saucer. The base of bowl was too small for the bowl and when I placed my spoon in to start eating, the bowl tipped over and VERY, VERY HOT soup spilled down the front of me burning my stomach. The waitress was very apologetic but we just boxed up our food and left. This experience and issues with the waitress either standing by table the WHOLE time chit chatting to us from when we walked in the door to leaving and when she wasn't hovering she was consoling the bawling, screaming kids of the owners in the dining area. I felt really bad for the waitress because it seems like she is the waitress AND the babysitter for the owners kids however it seemed like she was starving for adult conversation with people and that was why she was constantly talking to us the whole time we were there....even when she was taking care of the kids. I gave one star because they overcharged me 9 dollars on my bill.When i called to ask about this the lady on the phone was very rude telling me "we are busy now call back later and hung up on me.Really? So I called back and talked to the owner he told me" you have the receipt it say's that amount right?" Yeah it did but my account say's you charged me 9 dollars extra."Oh check it again in a couple days" wow..Some shady stuff going on there. I stopped in for lunch recently, actually looking for the previous tenant. They offer a fairly standard menu and the dishes I had were just ok. The chicken I tried were very salty with thick sauce. The hot and sour soup I tried was also over-thickened. The one big positive is that my stir-fry did come with lots and lots of veggies. The waitress was very attentive and the service was quick.
